Fantastic! We came here on a Saturday morning at 9 am for breakfast. There was a line of six or seven people, but we quickly got to the counter to order and our coffee and food were out within ten minutes of ordering. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ALL TIME!!!! I've been coming here for years, I love their breakfast burritos, but I will NEVER come back here ever again. I accidentally grabbed the wrong burrito when they called out the name, drove all the way to work and realized my burrito was wrong. I went back to return the wrong one and get the breakfast burrito that I ordered and two girls, immediately began telling me that I took a very expensive burrito and I've cost them money, and now they had to remake two more burritos and didn't want to remake the proper burrito that I ordered because I should have been more cognizant at listening to the names! Then continue to tell the entire kitchen staff the same story and we're all irritated they had to make the burrito that I ordered and paid for, then, yet again, when I went to grab the burrito that was remade for me, told me next time to be more cognizant in front of a line of people. Well, it's official. I have a new favorite breakfast burrito!!! I've lived a block away for a year and a half now and finally decided to give it a try. I mean, why not, I've heard nothing but great things about it from several unrelated people. I decide to hoof it over there since it IS only a block ( a LONG block but still only one ) and I could use the exercise anyway. I see the usual bevy of tourists and cyclists and stroller pushing mommy's along the way as today is beautiful so the walk in is entertaining! I arrive about 10am and the place is PACKED! tables full and there's a pretty good line at the counter.. (order at the counter, find a seat and wait for your name to be called to retrieve your food) which moves remarkably fast. I settle on the Breakfast Burrito since I've heard a lot about it (all good) Besides, who doesn't love a good burrito? Dumb people, that's who! Touchdown!!!! As I complete my order and the nice lady behind the counter hands me my Diet Coke (YES! Coke NOT Pepsi!) I turn to find a table just vacated and I swoop in for the perfect seat where I can both watch the hoards flock to the beach AND enjoy the view of the ocean. As I take it all in I notice adjacent is a coffee bar which makes what looks like anything you could want from the Bigbucks kind of place and she's quite busy and handing happy people their morning fixes of caffeine. There seem to be a lot or "regulars" and calling of people by name with friendly waves. Always a good sign. The "Dude" is perched in a chair studying the waves and as he mows through a burrito (I'm starting to think I made the right menu choice) I can only guess he has decided to surf today because he tosses the wrapper in the trash and retrieves his board and heads off into the sand. "Sam, I have an order for Sam" I hear bellowing behind me and I pop up to get my highly anticipated breakfast. (See photo) The burrito has lived up to the hype and the salsa is fresh and really good!!! It doesn't take long to devour it and I'm already pondering when my next visit will be. I peruse the scenery and decide to take the lady at the counter's offer of a free refill on my soda. When this happens 3 separate groups try to schnore in on my table and a collective groan sounds when I tell them all I'm not actually leaving yet. I take in some more of the tourists (always funny to watch) and finally get up and walk home.. Taking the beach and the water and sand del great on my feet! My first thought was to give it ONE star hoping it would keep people away so I could have it all to myself but that would have been rude.. I'm a lot of things in life but not typically rude (unless you're asking for it) I gave it 4 for the lack of seating only.. not their fault but still a deduction . In total disclosure I didn't go here, I didn't eat here. But I'm the one with the Yelp account in my family so here is their review. lol My family is vegan, as in they are vegan, I am not. My husband said it's the best breakfast burrito he has ever had! My daughter is the one who said I MUST Yelp them hard! Vegan options can be difficult to come by so we were thrilled with Buccaneer Cafe and their options. The eggs in the burrito, Just Eggs, I believe and they can be tricky to cook, but they nailed it. The portion sizes were generous. Then the soyrizo added to the California aspect of it. My husband did mention that breakfast burritos eaten on the beach might not be able to compare to breakfast burritos eaten at home. Just sayin'. This little shop by the ocean is very cute and seems like a popular local beach spot. Very close to a short stretch of beach. They have a quaint coffee stand and the latte was pretty decent. The double shot cappuccino was a bit lacking in espresso flavor but had a good foam top. The chicken breakfast taco was good in flavor but swimming in its own puddle of juices making it soggy like a wet sock and very messy to eat. Not a good first date kind of food. The beef breakfast taco was more manageable as it was drier and could be handled with care. The Guacamole was barely there and thus barely noticeable. The potatoes are now just sad Cajun fries. They must've served us the sad cold ones. Would skip the potatoes in favor of better refined carbohydrates. We also tried the Cassidy Açaí bowl which is just alright. Nothing to write home about. There are these little sparrows hovering around trying to eat your food which is sad because they shouldn't be eating those kinds of foods. read more

I have been to this little beachside cafe two times now and every time the food is WONDERFUL! Highly recommend the breakfast burrito and the loco moco. But they sell out of the loco moco fast so be sure to get there early! Things to note- this is a very popular little seasonal cafe so be prepared to wait in line and to wait for your food, seating is first come first serve, the coffee is in a separate line from the food line, and they have what they have until they run out! A hidden secret in the greater San Diego area. On a busy Labor Day weekend I checked out Buccaneer for the first time. It's right next to the ocean, beautiful ocean views, and right next to amazing parking. They were out of Loco Moco, so I had the breakfast taco with carnitas. It was not a little street taco. It was a two hand job, but overpowering. It was phenomenally delicious. They had cute little covered picnic tables, it was cool and breezy by the ocean, and everyone was willing to share table space. Dogs were welcome. The staff was very polite and worked like a fine oiled machine. My date and I then went for a lovely walk on the beach, both of us commenting what a little hidden gem it was. I highly recommend, and I'll be returning for that Loco Moco soon. read more
