My fur baby and I stopped in on our morning walk for a coffee. The prices are reasonable, coffee is good and the staff is super friendly. This is located right across the street from the beach so you can grab some food and something to drink and be at the beach in two minutes or less. I haven't tried any of the food yet but it does look really good I highly recommend stopping on in if you're in Oceanside and coming to the beach

Great service though the line was long and steady. Being that they are super close to the beach and rv park they get a lot of business so I wanted to try it due to the line and menu. Ordered the California Burrito and was underwhelmed. The steak was the type that TacoBell, definitely not "carne" as listed. The fries (ordered on the side bc I'm a fry purist) were great with their spices and ketchup. Not too sure what way the salsa provided was going tho. It was giving Franks and Ketchup and Pace. If you're starving this'll do. If you want something good or Mexican style burritos I'd look elsewhere. Also, had a bit of my husbands kitchen sink burrito with soyrizo (seasoned tofu) and it was ok too. The coffee selections were perfect tho.

I really wanted to like The Buccaneer because of all the hype, but honestly... it fell flat for me. I ordered the soyrizo Buc Muf and the soyrizo burrito, and both really lacked seasoning. The flavors just weren't there, and everything tasted pretty plain. The line was also so long, which made the wait feel even worse considering the food didn't deliver. In my opinion, it's definitely overhyped. The staff was nice, but you could tell they were stressed trying to manage the constant line. It is a very tiny place. It's all outdoor, you order and pick up through a window. Overall, not the worst experience, but definitely not worth the wait.

The ambience is only ONE of the many great features of this outdoor beach cafe . Situated across from Tower 11 and the ocean, even a gray day doesn't diminish it. We shared the Privateer açaí bowl which filled us up until dinner! And Ssoooo dang delicious ! We didn't have to wait terribly long for our order, the wait is one of those things you understand when you're getting terrific food. 10 outta 10 an Oceanside gem and should definitely be on your to-do go to's when you come here.

The food was simple and delicious. You can share a burrito if you not a big eater. The taco I had was tasty except the fries were cold. Oh the ice coffee was strong which is a good thing. They have a few tables and bar stools which great. The front view to location is the ocean water. We took our food and walked across to beach.

One of my best friends took us here for breakfast. Unfortunately we showed up at 10:30 and the line was long. It wasn't so bad as the beautiful beach views and friendly people in line made the long wait bearable. BC does have some outdoor table seating but the beach is like 25ft across the street. Plenty of so cal beach vibes to enjoy these deliciius tacos. And delicious they were!!! If I had to pick one the Carne Asada was my slight favorite. The seasoning was just so good. The portions are large so you don't go away hungry. The other menu items are just as amazing from what I hear as well. If you want a yummy breakfast taco with some kicking beach views BC is your jam.

Looking for something close to the Body Shop I was at, and thankfully, this place wasn't too far away. As soon as I arrived, there was a line for this place. Must be good for it to have a line. The wait time was around 15 minutes (more or less), but it was worth the wait. I looked at the menu; they added fries to the breakfast burrito! Excuse me! I HAD to order one, and boy, it did not disappoint! The eggs were fluffy, they had guac, and there were all types of meat choices. Most importantly, the fries were super crispy under all of that in the burrito! I ended up halfing the burrito because I thought it would be too much, but it was the complete opposite. I'll order a whole burrito next time I'm in the area! Excellent burrito!

Nice to have a little spot to grab a drink and maybe a bite to eat. Average service. Waiting to give an order (all 3 times I visited this trip), the gal carries on conversations with her colleagues while I am standing there with no acknowledgment or mention of "hi there, will be right with you"... not a complaint, just mentioning. Was excited to try the Clam Chowder and it was a heavy let down . Too thin and must of had a ton of butter. When they ask you if you want the Garlic Bread with the soup, just decline. It was just 2 slices of white bread, with a little bit of butter and garlic, barely toasted LOL . No big deal. I also had the Kitchen Sink burrito this trip. Was ok. My wife had the Ham and Egg burrito. She was happy. Coffee was ok. I ordered an extra shot and I am not sure if it was in there. Wanted a Carmel Machiato but they said they could do a Mocha with Caramel . No big deal. Coffee was average. 3 's for being average, yet convenient. The prices are steep, but I imagine it isn't cheap to have that prime location. This place could be so amazing with a little work!!

This is my all time favorite açai bowl place. It's a right across from the beach in Oceanside at Buccaneer park. Excellent service and food comes out fairly fast. It's usually pretty crowded when I go here, but it wasn't bad on the day we went. I always order the privateer which includes two scoops of açai, granola, blueberries, bananas, strawberries, coconut, and honey. I also got peanut butter on it. I split a carne asada breakfast burrito with my daughter. So good! It had scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and fries, and of course the Carne Asada. It was a beautiful day outside. There's no inside seating. You can't go wrong at this place. I've tried different things and everything has been very good. Since I don't live in the San Diego area anymore, I like to come here when I visit. What more can you ask for? It's right across from the beach

We heard about this place but had never been, until today. The fact that we have never been here makes me confuzzeled! I had the bacon burrito and my wife also had the bacon burrito but has a gluten allergy so had the burrito bowl option. The food is so good and there is so much of it. I swear there was a quarter pound of bacon in my burrito. I can't overstate how good the food was. The staff was so friendly and patiently answered all of my wife's questions regarding her allergy. And if it couldn't get any better, they are situated right across the street from the beach so you can order, walk across the street and plant yourself on the beach and enjoy your food!

A local favorite! It's definitely changed over the years but it seems like they keep having more and more options. I love stopping here for a quick latte, but it doesn't usually end up being quick as they are quite busy. Be ready to wait a bit but it is worth it! There is a decent amount of outdoor seating and it's usually easy to find parking in the park's lot too. I enjoy ordering the Mexi mocha as the Mexican chocolate gives the espresso a deeper flavor with only a bit of sweetness. My husband typically orders the white mocha and honestly it's just as good! A little bit sweeter but nonetheless still delicious.

Outdoor seating, street in front of us was not that bad ocean breeze was a plus. Ordered meximocha- could definitely taste Mexican chocolate mix.. not mixed well.. had to mask foe whipped that it was supposed to come with.. it was OK. Avocado toast was awesome, the way it was displayed was too cute. Taste was wonderful Locomoco was nostalgic for me.. missed living in Hawaii for moment.. gravy was a bit on the salty side tho. Everything else was cooked just right Strawberry Lemonade was sweet, so good overall. Water jug was empty and didnt see it refilled the whole time we was there.. a cup of cool water was needed. Had to ask for a cup. Nice Lil spot.. so its a 4

The staff, the food, and location are amazing. I love their chicken quesadilla, and grabbing a coffee. The only weird thing is you order your coffee separate at the stand next to it, but it's things like that which make small businesses like this unique and great to coming back to. I wish this place was open longer during the day..it's so good! And watch out for the squirrels in the grass area. They'll grab your food if you leave it unattended! read more

Just ate here. Have rented a place down the beach and the wife and I just walked barefoot to the Buccaneer. Great boardwalk atmosphere. I had the avo toast and the wife had the buc muf for breakfast. Both were awesome. The avo toast was the best I ever had. A nice balsamic drizzle over the avocado and greens was unbelievable. The buc muf my wife had was very, very, very good (that is a quote). We will be back tomorrow. read more

Pancakes were ok. They were a little tough because one side was almost burnt. Service was really friendly and the place has a strong following. Will give it another try. Don't eat here on a cold or rainy day as seating is outside. read more

This was such a great surprise. We had a delicious breakfast burrito and taco here last weekend. It is the best I've ever had. Really tasty and lots of food. I topped it off with a mango/pineapple smoothie and didn't have to eat the rest of the day. We're bringing all our friends here to enjoy the beautiful beach and great food. read more

I've have tried going here 3 times and only one of those times was it actually open. These were at times it was scheduled to be open but just something went wrong. The first was at least a year ago, then two weeks ago we came and had awesome breakfast burritos so this past weekend we wanted to get lunch while we were at the beach but they never opened back up because of issues. So, I don't really know if this is a common problem or if I just have really bad luck. I have no complaints of the time it was actually open. They hustled to get through the line, were fun and funny, put extra salsa on my bag and the breakfast burrito was everything I could hope for with especially generous amounts of bacon. The latte was good not great but that was way more than I was expecting from a small beach stand so I'll take it. So my plan currently is to hope to eat here when we go to this beach but pack snacks just in case it doesn't work out. read more

On our recent trip to Oceanside, we came to the Buccaneer Cafe twice for breakfast. We were not disappointed. The kids had huge fluffy pancakes and crispy bacon, the breakfast burrito was huge, tasty and so so filling. The french toast was just what you want french toast to be...and the turkey bacon was so crispy and delish! We ordered and were a little concerned that all the tables were taken...but the timing couldn't have been better. A minute before the food was up, a table cleared. We got to sit, relax, people watch and enjoy the beautiful salty sea air...The surfers came and went, the park was packed and it felt like time stood still as the reggae set the mood and we took in all the action around us while enjoying our food. Sitting directly across the street from the ocean....what a magnificent spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. A great local experience. The staff was so friendly. This will be our first stop on our next trip to Oceanside! read more

Come at your own risk. The hours posted show they close at 2. We arrived at 12:55 to watch them closing shop. The response from the barrista was that they don't really have hours and they just close whenever. I asked if I could speak to a manager or someone in charge. She said there wasn't really anyone like that and, reluctantly, went to the back and asked someone to come out. I told the 2nd gal that I was sad that we'd planned our morning around coming up from south carlsbad. She apologized and said they hadn't received a food shipment so they did not have lunch foods (we were coming for the breakfast taco) so they closed early. Was excited to try this beach front cafe. I was totally let down. After ordering a pancake plate with crispy bacon, and a breakfast burrito with ham, the burrito had cold eggs making the cheese Impossible to melt. The pancakes were a little too over cooked and the bacon was not crispy like I had asked. When I went to get my money back for the Burrito because I was not satisfied paying $10 and having it come out like that the older gentleman never even apologize, just asked if I wanted it to be remade. When I saw the cook shaking his head I knew I did not want him to remake my burrito. Will never go back. The girls at the front were friendly and nice so I let them keep the three dollar tip on a seven dollar breakfast... wasn't their fault... read more

I love to walk down to the Cafe to kick back with my pup and have some good street fare. Their food is pretty decent considering the whole place is carved out of an old concrete restroom right across from the beach! Some items could be revamped for better taste but hell...the view & location on the sand makes up for everything. Great in the summer if your looking for a very quaint sunset beach dinner with your special girl. I think there are only like 6 tables at night in the summer so its very private, peaceful and just straight-up beautiful.Hours are based around Sunlight and Ok weather...if its raining or foggy they probably arent open. Also one other great thing --Its affordable!! read more

smallest cafe I've seen if it's raining don't go as they are closed ,that was my first try. Went back later glad I did,I had the bucc muf absolutley great my wife had breakfast burrrito best we have ever eaten . You have to look closely because it is the middle a beach bathroom seating is outside looking at the ocean, what else can I say. We will be back. George&Cyndy. read more

Buccaneer Beach is a community in itself with local beach front Breakfast, Lunch, Specialty Coffee and free parking in a beautiful location. we have a park for the dogs, playground for the kids and a beach for everyone. We are famous for our Breakfast Burritos, Bucc Muffs, Avo toast and Acai bowls. During the summer months we have Sunset Taco nights on Friday along with live music. What’s not to love at the beach!

History

Established in 1980.

Buccaneer Beach Park was named after a sunken spanish pirate ship that supposedly is still somewhere out front, there was a time that a wealthy treasure hunter spent a year trying to find the ship but was unsuccessful. The Buccaneer Beach Cafe has been handed down from generation to generation of Locals. The original owners were Micky and his Wife and was then bought out by the Mondero family, then Bob and Bobby, then Vicki, then Hector Reyna, then Ron Hass and Chuck Dodaro, and finally Charlie and Maria Anderson in partnership with Chuck Dodaro. Buccaneer Park is a special place with an amazing history and life long locals.

Ok there's quite a few problems I have with this place so here's a long list of my dislikes…read more -Extremely expensive with small portion sizes, not worth the price whatsoever. -They claim the juices are fresh but sit in their fridges for days. I scratched off an expiration date and found another label underneath! They just slapped a new one on to make it look fresh. -The soups are left out for at least a week and are heated at the beginning of the shifts. The heaters for the soups are turned off when the closer leaves. I was there at the opening time a few months ago and I guess one of the employees forgot to turn the heater on and I was served a cold soup. The soups are rotting and changing temperatures and they continue to serve it!!!!!! -The açaí used is not actually raw açaí berries but packets of frozen açaí which is extremely concerning for an "acai bowl and smoothie place". -As I was waiting by the counter for my bowl I heard the employees discussing a RAT ISSUE that they said had been persistent for multiple weeks!!! One of the employees told his coworker that A RAT HAD CRAWLED INTO THE REFRIGERATOR!! I'm not ashamed that I was eavesdropping on their conversation because this is ridiculous! Once the other worker noticed me listening they instantly stopped talking and started whispering to each other, then tried to pretend like had nothing happened. -Lastly, a majority of the employees are incredibly rude. When you ask for simple modifications some of them groan or complain. They expect tips for little to no effort and stare like you did something wrong even though they have a job to do. After one employee was rude to me when I asked to swap almond milk with water on my açaí bowl, I asked for her name. But after asking, she gave me a DIFFERENT EMPLOYEE'S name in order to cover herself!! (I printed a receipt and saw her real name). But, some of the employees were very nice and asked me how my day was going every time I ordered or continued conversation with me. Overall, this establishment has reached its last straw for me. I'm tired of dealing with the nonsense this place offers and am excited for it to be replaced with apartment homes in the near future. Hopefully this will bring in tourists to Carlsbad rather than waste the pretty lawn it sits on.

I'm happy with the beer I took home, and would stop by again for food if I get the chance.

Pop Pies is located there too (tasty chicken pot pies). Each eatery is essentially a small shack. Go in, order and Shoots brings out your food when ready. I look forward to trying some other dishes on their menu.

Unfortunately the two times I have ordered food from this venue I have needed to have the food either remade or replaced. This food venue WILL NOT REMAKE YOUR FOOD unless you pay for it AGAIN!!!! ..... EXAMPLE: if its TOO SPICY for you, they told me to PAY another $8.50 for the Chicken Ceasar Salad Wrap Are you serious?? Who tells a local customer that they must pay $17.00 to have their food made without Cayenne pepper, when the SPICES ARE NOT LISTED ON THE FOOD MENU!!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE So if I order a Chicken Ceasar Salad Wrap and it's SPICY, cause they cook chicken in CAYENNE pepper, I MUST PAY DOUBLE to have it made without CAYENNE PEPPER? The employee (blond girl - owners daughter) didn't CARE AT ALL that I left without EATING MY SALAD... cause SHE WOULDN'T REMAKE it W/OUT CAYENNE PEPPER!! How RUDE. I can't say enough good things about Buccaneer Cafe in Oceanside, California! Not only do they serve up a killer latte and a breakfast that could rival any seaside spot, but the team here proved to be absolute legends. Here's the story: I accidentally left my wallet there--a wallet packed with all my credit cards and a rather significant amount of cash. I only realized it a full day later. Naturally, I panicked. Best breakfast burrito in the world!!! The salsa they have really does it for me. It's not only got some kick to it, but it's flavorful too! Sometimes you get one or the other. Not here. They got the whole package. I've been coming here for over a decade and it's still the best. I love everything about this place. The friendly service while ordering. The delicious bacon and sausage breakfast burrito with the Cajun fries. Even having to wait in a long line is a blessing cause then I get to relax, watch the beautiful Oceanside coast and check out some surfing. It's an all around gem. Nah . . . Just picked up some burritos to go. I have heard many friends tell me try the buccaneer in Oceanside. Today was the day, I was in Oceanside and picked some breakfast burritos Togo. I grabbed and bacon and veggie burrito which is pictured. What a great surprise. Both were so fresh and quite tasty! The bacon was loaded with lots of bacon and eggs. The veggie was loaded with veggies and lots of Avacado. To my surprise the salsa was amazing! When I picked up my order they told me the salsa was something they make fresh. Salsa always scares me a bit, I worry it may be too Spicy. The salsa was perfect and just the right amount of spice. I'll be returning and you should try it out as Well.
