Had dinner at Bucci with some friends who drove in from Bloomfield Hills. As always, the food was delicious, but our waiter was about as rude and dismissive as he could've been. On the way home I told my husband that the waiter's attitude really diminished an otherwise lovely dinner. Will go back, but will make sure he never serves us again. Went with another couple from out of town last night and it was a huge mistake. The server was insulting. On more than one occasion he insulted the woman at the table. The door was very disappointing as well. We have ate here numerous times in the past and had good experiences, however last night was awful. Great place to take a girl. Set up is sweet; cozy little place open kitchen up front; visible as soon as you walk in. Definitely a upscale classy and comfortable atmosphere. Awesome wine selection, complement their featured entrees very well. Lmao chops are a must when dining here. Went to one of my favorite restaurants tonight; we go there regularly. Sat at the counter, where we watched the chefs preparing meals. Fixed menu tonight. Asked our server (S) if there were any substitutions, and were told no (just wanted to substitute a veggie for another one they were already preparing). Then watched as the chefs prepared 3 other meals, not on the fixed menu. Asked another server what he was serving, and he confirmed that they were items not on the fixed menu. Unbelievable. Paid for the meal, and got a pizza from someplace else. read more

One of the better places in the area. Solid cocktails. (Actually, the biggest martini glass I've ever seen.) The artichoke appetizer was really good. Soup was great. Had the chicken bella as an entree which was quite tasty. Finished with a creme brulee and an almond cake. All very good! read more

Bucci is an exceptional restaurant, and it's amazing that it's not more well-known. Really enjoyed the Zuppa Portoghese which came with a spicy sauce, similar to that in the Pescadore. All meats and seafood were cooked perfectly and everyone in our group loved their meals. Toughest part was deciding what to order from on the menu and the wine list. Great service as well. Gotta love this place! The experience has always been notable... Although it may sound strange you have to sit at the bar; well counter is a better description. This place serves great food but how the deep counter surrounds the kitchen makes for a very cool experience as well. Prepare to be entertained while eating some of Southeast Michigan's best Italian food. Just a perfect haven for what ails you gastronomically in the GP area. Ive been in the F&B industry for a couple decades now, and this is without a doubt the best restaurant for what they do in the area, bar none. Not the place for huge portions, as I've read some complaints about. But for lovingly prepared food, yes indeed. Hostess was kind and attentive, and we were sat straight away, even though they were pretty busy and the vibe on this Sunday evening felt more Saturday like. Our Server GIna was kind, attentive, and shook up a perfectly polished Polish potato vodka Martini, that went down as smooth as a silken, silvery, icy cloud. The octopus salad appetizer was better than i remember, and the Sausage and pepper appetizer remains one of my favorite anywhere. The Chateau Graville Lacoste White Burgundy was a perfect accompaniment to the wife's perfectly prepared Branzino, a display of succulent, and expertly seasoned fish. My pasta dish on the other was a flipping Masterclass of Pasta cookery. I asked Chef Anton to make me whatever he felt like preparing me and I had THE BEST pasta dish I've ever had in my life. I can't w mere words describe the magnitude of how impressive the dish was. I wont try to get into what was in the pasta dish, as the combined flavors created an Umami that has left me tingling w anticipation to get back to Bucci and ask Anton if he can repeat that culinary creation for me once again. Our 7yr old always revels in the Capellini Bolognese, and last night was no exception. Bravo, bravo and bravo again to all staff at Bucci!!! read more

Wait staff was horrible. I have been to multiple countries and this is the worst dining experience ever today. Waiter talked back and took almost 45 minutes to bring 1 piece of bread. They had a fixed menu (I was with a group) that would not accommodate an average person. If there was a star that would go negative I would rate -4 stars. Absolutely hands down, one of the best restaurants in the Pointes, the food is so darn delicious, staff providing such personal service, and the chefs skills are perfection from the grill to cold plates, and that little basket of bread, just enough crust and soft texture. I have to say the food was terrific, the service however is another story...we were out searching for a nice place to host a private dinner party...after a few stops and it started snowing pretty bad, we decided this place would be our last and we would stay and have dinner. We were pleasantly surprised when we walked in to the family/open environment of the kitchen, it seemed like everyone was having a great time. Our waitress clearly knew her job, but it seemed as if we were being schooled on how to be a customer. We let her know it was our first time there, thinking she may want us to feel comfortable so that we would come back-right?! Not the case. We clearly were a bother to her as we noticed she was quite polite to other tables. She moved my fiancées glass more than once & SLAMMED it down in front of him the last time so she could set down a plate! We were not trying to sabotage her service lol! This is only 1 example of her rude behavior...We thought maybe something happened/bad mood, until we noticed her overly kind demeanor to the adjacent table...she offered bread over & over to other tables, but when came to us she stated," do you want more bread" ...last time I checked our money spends the same as everyone else's...we will not return and it's disappointing because the food was pretty damn good! read more

I only gave this place one star because I had to!!! This place has the absolute worst service of any restaurant I've ever been too. I ordered a cesar salad here and asked if they could add salmon which they have. The waiter told me no problem but when the bill came he charged me for a cesar salad $12 and a salmon dinner $17 when I asked why he didn't explain this in the beginning he put his hand in my face and told me to be quiet and started speaking to my husband. This was not our first time at Bucci and our visit was on a Thursday, January 30, 2014. We were greeted quickly and pleasantly by a young girl. All of our food was good, absolutely no complaints there. Service and drinks were terrible. I had a margarita, the waitress said she made it...terrible. My husband had a bombay saphire martini, and it taste like gin flavored water. A martini is the easiest drink in the world to make. The waitress brought our teenager his salad late. After all the adults got their meals, she said she would make his now. What! It was a middle aged woman and when she was not rude she was condescending. She does not have a service personality. Seems like they need to reevaluuate their wait staff. Service CAN ruin a business. read more

Tonight my husband made reservations at Bucci for our anniversary. This was our first time here and...wow, was it amazing. I will agree with a few of the other reviewers that the pace of service is a little bit slow, but I believe that is a part of the overall ambiance of the restaurant. What is wrong with taking your time, enjoying a nice glass of wine and actually having a conversation with the person you're dining with? Personally I really enjoyed the small, traditional Italian style eatery. I have never been to Italy myself but I imagine that you would find this type of place in lots of towns up and down Italy. It seemed that most every customer was a regular of sorts and was greeted by the hostess or one of the wait staff with a hug. Our waiter, though I did not catch his name, was charming and friendly. He answered any questions we had about the menu. We watched as he hustled through the dining room serving all of his tables and staying completely on top of everything from beverages to bread. My husband started with the Minestrone soup which was some of the best he'd ever had and then ordered the Penne Mi Modo which was a Penne pasta (hence the name) with a meat ragu sauce with chicken and Italian sausage. He said it was very tasty with rich flavors. I had the Filet Mignon with seasonal vegetables and a caesar salad. It was one of the best caesar dressings I've ever had. The dressing had just enough bite and tanginess of a great caesar without being overpowering. I ordered the Filet medium and I have never had a more perfectly cooked steak. It was melt in your mouth tender and not to be cliche but my knife slid through the meat like butter. It is honestly the best steak I have ever eaten. When the waiter came to clear the plates he asked how everything was and I told him that it was the best steak I've ever had. He then asked if this was our first time there and I told him yes. He said he wanted to bring us something special on the house. After confirming we had no nut allergies he presented us with their homemade Chocolate Hazelnut gelato with homemade dark chocolate fudge. OMG was it amazing. It was absolutely the perfect end to a wonderfully delicious meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be back. read more

I just had my first Bucci experience with my husband and it was wonderful. The atmosphere was inviting, the prices were reasonable and the staff were friendly (not to mention talented!). They used fresh ingredients and we enjoyed watching as our food was prepared. We had no trouble getting a table because it was during the week and I would not assume I could get a seat easily on the weekend without a reservation. :) Wonderful all around! read more

Terrible service. We sat for 25 minutes and made multiple requests before even getting menus. They don't seem to have a computer so we watched out server struggle to add up our bill on a calculator for 15 minutes (after waiting just as long to get his attention and ask for the check). When the bill came, they had added an 18 percent gratuity for our party of 8- but they added this after tax, making our total tip 21 percent for poor service. The food was good, but with all the great Italian options in the area (that have their sh*t together), there's really no point in spending the money at Bucci. read more

Don't bother making a reservation for this "ristorante" because they cater to their fur-coat wearing, pretentious friends first and you will end up waiting at least an extra hour anyway. By the time we were seated, one of the main entrees was no longer available. They tried to appease with a complimentary round or drinks, crumbled blue cheese for our salads, and some taste-less dessert, all of which we could've done without. Just left Bucci and was shocked by the lack of customer service. Waiter would not bring us menus because he was not our waiter. Had to ask 3 times for a glass of wine and was frowned upon because we did not make reservations even though there were several open tables. Enjoying dinner with my friend but was made to feel that it was time to leave as soon as we finished dinner. We both felt we were not welcome because we were dresses in casual attire. Have eaten here countless times since they opened and it only gets better. Beautiful product, beautifully prepared and served immaculately. The last time we were in, we had a table of ten. All of our entrees were served simultaneously by a phalanx of waiters, and it was all hot. This is old fashioned haute European service and at very reasonable prices. I've been going off and on for 10+ years. Over the years it has evolved numerous times. It started out being a cozy place where they knew your name and you felt like family. obviously success has taken it to a different experience. I do think about going there to eat on occasion. but I always drive by looking for the next cozy feeling place. This place is awful. I went there with my girlfriend for the first time. She ordered fish and I ordered a pasta dish. The pasta was over cooked and the chicken was absolutely flavorless. The fish was also flavorless and the portions are ridiculously small. I would expect much more from a so called family run business. The service was OK however, my pasta dish was so disgusting that I could only take a couple bites. Both made me gag. I wasn't expecting anything, the setup of the place didn't look like it took hard work so I didn't expect much effort taken to make the food which was below average at best. The waiter noticed that I did not want the dish and he notified management. Management then said that they didn't see anything wrong with the dish so I have to pay for it. Which was all good, I took a gamble on a new place and I lost. I strongly recommend you try a different place if you really do want quality food and service. read more
