Our server was toooo busy. We started off with delicious tobacco onions, then it was downhill from there. I think our server forgot us. When our main course arrived after an hour, it was Luke warm. I had really high hopes for this place, but the service was just awful unfortunately. The food would get 4.5 stars however the waiter would get a single generous star. I'm usually able to left stuff slide but this was a bad experience. The hostess was super sweet, asked if we had a reservation for our party-we did not but she was still able to take us back and seat us in the backroom. Our waiter at the start of the evening had only 2 tables. He was not competent as a server in any regards. Myself, my wife and her sister were all waiters at some point from highschool through college... He needs to write things down, bottom line. If it is restaurant policy to memorize orders, as a patron, I'd rather my order be correct. There isn't anything special about having your wait staff not write things down. Get it correct, don't try to look fancy as you mess up. Should not need to be reminded about getting a water for us 3 separate times, should not be holding our drinks while taking entire orders from your only other table. When you do finally remember that we asked for lemons 3/4 of the way through the meal either bring them and apologize or don't bring them at all. Why ask if we wanted something that we specifically asked for at the start of the meal? Ruben was ordered with the sauerkraut on the side. It comes out with it on the sandwich, it's sent back to be made correctly, we still wanted the sauerkraut on the side. Maybe they have a sauerkraut on the sandwich only policy and they do not allow it out of the kitchen unless it's touching bread. The decor was nice and the place had a unique atmosphere. The building was well worn but you can see the love that is put into this place. Love the ceiling fans in the backroom as well as the art throughout the building. A bit sad that there is no changing table in the men's room. It's 2022, I'm capable of changing diapers. Nachos were delicious, nice large portion to boot! I enjoyed the crab artichoke dip with pita as well... Wouldn't mind eating 2 skillets of that for a meal haha! We didn't get the wings but they looked great. Beef short ribs were super tender but would have preferred good old fashioned mashed potatoes rather than polenta. Kids menu was all on point... Beautifully made grilled cheese sandwich was quickly made and tasty. The menu looked good and we each had several items we were interested in. My husband and I really enjoyed our evening here! We ordered the poached pear salad for a starter and it was fantastic! My husband ordered the pan seared salmon and the skin was perfectly crisp with tender juicy meat inside. It came with a pea risotto and that was very good as well. I ordered a turkey burger, but was disappointed when my burger fell apart as I tried to lift it to take a bite. It wasn't the best turkey burger I've ever had, but it wasn't horrible either. Finally for dessert we had the coconut cream cake and it was exceptional! So creamy and moist. Overall it was a very good dinner, cozy atmosphere and good service. We'll be back! read more

Stopped by this beautiful restaurant style tavern this afternoon for lunch. Very nice ambiance...clean restaurant with a old school feel. Service was great as well all the way around from hostess to our server. As for the food we started with the cheesesteak egg rolls which were pretty good. The stars of the show were the crab cake sandwich and the clam chowder. I highly recommend both. Nice size crab cake with plenty of meat on a perfect roll. We received the wrong order and then had to wait for a replacement - no apologies when the right dish arrived. No thank you for your patience. And nothing comped. My family went out to dinner and as we were leaving an employee came up to us requesting why we did not tip a certain amount. I think it's highly disrespectful to ask a customer why they didn't tip a certain amount as tipping is optional. It gives off very entitled energy. On top of this, our server was not even the one who inquired why she was tipped a certain amount. It was a random coworker. I think it's really disrespectful that our server didn't inquire and it was another coworker. Overall, I think that they were trying to embarrass us and truly made us feel very uncomfortable. Following the recent passing of our father, we left the hospital and realised that we hadn't eaten all day. This led us to a rejuvenating dinner at Buckleys, sharing happy memories. The staff were attentive and accommodating and the food was the balm needed. The evening planted the seed to explore having a celebration of life gathering at Buckleys. Tom did not hesitate to open his dinning room to our family/friends/employees. No other venue in the area would even consider a discussion. Went for dinner last Wednesday. Great service. The place was packed at 4:30!! They were out of the Pinot Grigio and Malbec by the glass. Both favorites! Some good craft beers. We had Mac and cheese bites to start. They should have been hot not just warm. The salads are in lovely large round bowls but the lip of the bowl is huge so salad is good but at $8.95 it was too small I need some more greens. Not worth price. My friend and I split Buckley burger. Delicious! Charcoal grilled and the fries were hot. My other friend had an open face crab melt. At $16.95 it was mushy and not a lot of crab. We had a scoop of delicious $6.00 pumpkin ice cream for dessert. The menu mentions specials but they aren't making them now. They really need today attention to the quality of the food even while being so busy. read more

Usually enjoy the food, however, this trip got the "duck breast special" with blueberry risotto and vegetables. Probably should have sent it back. Very small appetizer portion and bad presentation on the plate. Duck was ok in terms of texture and taste but no crispy skin and looked like it happened to fall on the plate. Two very small pieces for $40 dinner. Fortunately, I got the sauce on the side instead of on the duck. I could not identify the ingredients in the sauce but just know it was distasteful so asked for another raspberry sauce which was edible. Risotto was undercooked and tasteless. Vegetable were few and scattered on the dish. My husband's French dip sandwich and fries was much better and less than half the cost. Our other friend got the pot pie which looked good and hardy. Service was okay but server did not offer any remedy to the bad dish and charged full price. Do not recommend getting the "duck breast special". read more

Nice outdoor seating for brunch. Feta tomatoes spinach omelet was nicely made and delicious. The brunch breakfast menu is limited. Kids menu is standard $6 per entree. My son didn't like it so he ordered flat bread customized with Avocado and red onions - which came with no oil or salt pepper just plain crisp of bread thin. I was expecting they would mesh with tomatoes and jalapeños like a spread with olive oil and salt pepper but we managed by asking for some oil and salt pepper on the side. Buckley's is fantastic. They don't cut corners. Everything I have ever ordered from there meets or exceeds my expectations. The servers are well trained and professional. While it is technically a Tavern, they do offer some very nice items you might not expect from a tavern. Everything seems to be made/prepared with high quality ingredients. The chef/cook(s) obviously take pride in what they put out. I love their Ruben, French Dip, Soups, Salads, Burgers, desserts, etc. It's 5 stars for me relative to the area - Even though Buckley's is nestled in a relatively exclusive residential area, it is quite affordable and accommodating for anyone to dine there. read more

A couple days ago we went Buckley's for drinks and a burger. We had the "Centerville" burger. It was not good. Took a longtime to come out, was very dry, red peppers were not to be found and was not cooked to our request. We have had many other meals here and this had to be the worst.
