The place is nice and the service was top notch. Went there for Sunday Brunch after church. Typical breakfast buffet accented with seafood dishes and a carving station. The only breakfast items I tried were the crab and cheese omelette and the French toast. The omelette was a 6/10. The French toast 8/10. The carving was a pork tenderloin. This was tasty 8/10. The buffet had roasted turkey and cranberries which was a nice change of pace for July (8/10). The crab dip and shrimp boil were very good (both 9/10). I went back twice for these. The fried foods were decent as I tried the breaded cod (7/10), breaded shrimp (6/10), and fried chicken (7.7/10). For $30 the menu was good. I think an oyster dish would've made this menu complete. I would definitely come back here for the crab and oyster platters that they serve at lunch and dinner to give it a try. The place was very spacious and clean with a great view of the town. Me and my family came in for lunch and we had Robert as our server. Oh my gosh was he the perfect server. He was very attentive to us, he cracked jokes, he talked about his family. I didn't feel like I was eating lunch I felt like I was talking to a friend. His service was absolutely perfect, we never had even half empty water cups, he always made sure me and my dad had butter for our crab. He is such an amazing person and he deserves the world! The locals will tell you this is a touristy spot and it's just ok. From the food perspective, I agree it is not the best seafood I have ever had, but it sure as heck was fun! The food alone is 3 stars, but when you take in the whole experience, that is why I have graded them on a curve. The ambiance is like a sports bar, and it is a crazy-good location, and they've been doing this for years. They even have pictures of the staff going back as long as they've been open. I can't not give them 4 stars. It's a happy place. Holy Old Bay Batman! When those crabs come out, it's almost like they serve it with all the Old Bay you have ever had in your life, it's just on your one plate. We also got the seafood add-on and some orange crushes. What can I say- Buddy's is a local favorite! Was immediately greeted and seated once I climbed up those stairs. My waiter(forgot his name) was very attentive as well as the other staff. Someone always asked us there anything else needed-I loved that! The crabs were delicious but some were light(that's expected) I appreciated that they kept them coming though and were almost too hot to the point when cracked open steam steam was coming out! Our main event! Right downtown so it's hard to find an excuse NOT to go! We went twice to perfect my crab eating skills Our waitress had been there for 5 years and was excellent. Great because the other 2 guys were new and their patrons were PISSED! Phew. We went before peak season so the large crabs will look like mediums when peak comes around. Was debating between and 3 and a 4 review, and the amazing service we had tipped it to 4 without question. I wish I could remember our server's name, he was so kind and so attentive. We were walking around Annapolis one January afternoon I was with a duo that was not comfortable dining inside during COVID. It was a little chilly, probably in the 40's, but we're from Wisconsin so we chose the spot because they had a huge area on the street cordoned off with picnic tables. We were in the historic downtown near the naval academy and it was nice to stop in at a more unassuming, chill ambience. Our server insisted on carrying our food down to us outside despite our offering to come back up and get it, and he frequently came down to check on us despite what most Marylanders seemed to consider cold weather. Lots of laughs and smiles all around. I ordered the crab cake sandwich, and while I'm totally new to crab in general, I found it quite wonderful to eat. Had a dozen of the best oysters I've had in a while. One was so large it had to be split. Great observation spot if you get a table by the window. Great view of Ego alley. A friend and I came for the last day of Annapolis Restaurant Week. There was a St. Patrick's Day celebration going on during our visit so the place and all surrounding areas were very crowded. We sat at the bar which was full and "cozy" and there was a drip from the ceiling. But the staff were all aces. We had wings, stuffed shrimp, soft pretzel with crab dip, and Caesar salad. The salad was basic. The crab dip was okay but far from the best I've had. I'm a carboholic so the pretzel was divine. The stuffed shrimp was indeed stuffed so "A" for effort there. Usually I go to Latitude 38 for Snow Crab but as they changed their menu they suggested Buddy's. I've lived in Annapolis for a while but never visited before. I'm glad I did. They had excellent Snow Crab with options from 1-3 clusters and had options for different butter as well. The server was kind and helpful and the rest of the staff was friendly as well. Got talked into the all you can eat crabs and all we ate was maybe 3 or 4 between the two of us because 1. They were small and meatless, 2, they were dry and old. This place is a tourist trap. The food was not great and extremely overpriced. Additionally, this is not a great restaurant for large groups. You will have to lump the payments on three credit cards. You are better off choosing a different spot or maybe a good food truck to satisfy your seafood fix. You will pay 4x the cost and go to McDonald's afterwards. There were about 30 of us. I'm glad they were able to accommodate such a large group. The actual restaurant was upstairs. The buffet tables were way too close together. There was a traffic jam whenever I went to one of the tables. The food. Ugh. Just ugh. The salmon was awful. The "bacon mac & cheese" was super gross. The hash and eggs were decent. The seafood gumbo had some mystery pieces of "meat" that frightened me. I don't know what it was and I don't know if I want to find out. I wanted an omelet but there was always a line so I didn't get a chance to try one. I didn't get any dessert. If I ever went back I'd def avoid the buffet and maybe just try the steamed crabs. I'm on the fence about Buddy's. They have a great view, it's in a popular area of Downtown Annapolis. The service was great. Our waiter was very accommodating. Despite this, the food was just ok. Not great. Not horrible. Just ok. We came here during Annapolis Restaurants Week. They had a 3 course dinner for $35. I will admit, they gave very generous portions. I had a house salad with a Key lime vinaigrette. The dressing was the perfect bland of sweet and tangy. I really enjoyed my salad but I did wish they served it in a bowl or a bigger plate. They give you so much on a small plate that it's hard to mix and cut it up without items falling onto the table. For their restaurant week menu, you could either get soup or a dessert. I opted for soup and asked if I could get half Maryland Crab Soup and half Cream of Crab Soup. They brought two separate cups of each soup. I tried them individually first before mixing them together. The Crab of Cream was good but needed more seasoning. The Maryland Crab Soup was way too salty. Together, they were beyond amazing!! They should put Half and Half soup on the menu as an option. I ordered the seafood trio as an entree. It came with grilled lobster tail, grilled shrimp, and a broiled crab cake. The lobster tail was good but I had to use the melted butter to really enjoy it. The Shrimp was seasoned well but was overcooked. I didn't care for the crab cake. I liked that it was mostly meat and very little filler but it tasted off and I can't pinpoint what it needed. Even with more Old bay, it wasn't speaking to me. My boyfriend ordered ribs. I tried some and they were so tender and flavorful. I didn't get too full because I had a sweet tooth and wanted dessert. I ordered the Grandma's Apple Pie. It was good but it would have been nice to have an extra scoop of ice cream. Overall, I'm smack dab in the middle of how I feel about Buddy's.
