My boyfriend and I met on our first date at this location during Covid last November, we came back a year later, last Monday. Online they said they were open till 8, we moved to st Clair shores in September so we have a bit of a drive back there. We got there around 7 and saw the sign on the door that on Monday and Tuesday it was carry out only... so we made the most of it and just got it to go even though we were trying to make a special night out of it. We got back home and the cheese wasn't fully cooked so I called and spoke to the manager and he gave me $25 credit for when I go back! And we definitely will be going back because it's a special place for us and we love their food and have always had amazing service there so thank you! Updating my review. As you can see, I was contacted by Buddy's and offered the opportunity to try the items I ordered again. Everything went smoothly. I would recommend coming here now. I ordered two pizzas and two salads at 4:50 pm, and pre-paid for the meal AND gave a TIP!! I was told it would be approximately 30 minutes before my food was ready. At 5:15 I arrived and gave the staff my name. I was told to wait. At 5:35 the staff called me to the register and offered me someone else's meal! I told the servers my name again and what I had ordered. Again I waited while staff scrambled around looking for my order. Next they came out with the pizzas and no salad. I questioned them and they ran behind the counter. Finally they came up with my order. They pushed it towards me without a single word. No explanation, no apology, nothing. We've been driving past for weeks and they are finally almost ready to open - was able to crash family & friends night - and had an amazing pizza! David & Ashley were working the bar area and super friendly and nice to chat with - they kept everything moving. Not a huge fan of Buddy's, been dragged to the different locations all over metro Detroit and it's either ok or great kinda inconsistent. Well this particular location has made me 2 perfect pies and took my best Detroit sq style title for now. We usual order from the Buddys in Warren, but we were excited to see a Buddys in Troy. The food was not as good as other locations. Be aware, they don't do curbside pickup like other locations and you're stuffed in a tiny vestibule. Not good with COVID. read more

This location is my second favorite to the original in Detroit. It's very comfortable and everyone who works their appears to be down to earth and friendly. They give you the feeling of dining with friends. The food and customer service was outstanding on 1/2/2021. Stephanie was our wonderful waitress, she went over and beyond to ensure we had a outstanding dining experience. Stephanie's personality, promptness and exceptional customer service made this a fun wintery dining experience. The restrooms are beautiful and so soulful with a Motown Flair. They graciously accommodated us, even during these times of staff shortages in the restaurant industry. My first experience ordering here. My husband brought home the pizza and I realized it's not what I ordered. I called and spoke with the manager tonight and he was friendly but explained how it was my fault. He offered to make a new pizza. At this point I felt like it was still a great experience. Then my husband comes home from getting pizza number two and warns me that the pizza doesn't have light sauce but it has EXTRA. While picking up the second one, he mentioned it to the manager and they lied and told him it was light. If the piece is 90% covered in sauce, that's obviously not light. I feel they just don't care. We are a group that meet every 3 months. We started in June 2019. I've been going there for over 15 years. This year we were there July September and yesterday Dec 18th. We made reservations in September and December. However in December they said we had to buy a package. We never had to before. They were short of staff yesterday..not our fault. We were treated badly yesterday. My table spent $120. 45 from me.the management came out and asked folks to move to another area because they said there were expecting a group. I had just received my after waiting a long time to get order. I wasn't moving. Once waitress came to me saying folks from group were double ordering. I said who she didn't say who. Our group was disappointed in service. I called today and talked to manager Tiffany. She apologized and said she would talk to owners. Don't matter WE WONT BE BACK! Everything about this location was mediocre. Maybe I had higher expectations but my experience was very disappointing. Prices are ridiculously high. Pizza had very little cheese, and macaroni was just okay. Go elsewhere for tastier and cheaper pizza. read more

So glad we did.. The deep dish with the crunchy cheese was amazing..... Omg D E Licous!! We also ordered the lasagna Mac.. Wow.. Is the word for that goodness that entered my mouth!! . We've been eating buddy's pizza for years, all I can tell you is that since the family sold out to a cooperation things have gone downhill. We went to the new location in Troy, what a disappointment. The service was poor and the pepperoni pizza we ordered had little to no pepperoni on it. They are the most expensive pizza place around and not worth it!!! Yesterday I tried my second carryout, still disappointed. Didn't make my order correct. Two pizzas both wrong. One pizza was so wet with the sauce on top, it was gross. Second pizza ordered with regular sauce, but they don't read and put this disgusting bbq sauce on. That's all you could taste. Too many other restaurants in Troy to have to deal with this. read more

HORRIBLE experience ordering carry out. Had to create a Yelp account it was so bad. The carry out vestibule was PACKED, no one was 6ft apart, and one male customer refused to wear a mask. This location opened during COVID and should have had better safety protocols in place for carry out. Extremely disappointing. I will not be returning and will continue to order from Alibi and Shield's instead, which have safer protocols. read more

Buddy's pizza in my opinion is the best restaurant is all of Michigan. The food is consistently fresh and delicious!! I've been frequenting buddy's for over 20 years at a variety of locations. Food has always been spot on and for a while service was great too. In the last couple years service has tanked at the warren location so I don't go to that one anymore, I live closer to the new troy location so I started going to that store. Food is amazing but today was just a horrible service experience. I Absolutely hate when servers don't write down orders and sure enough this server forgot something I ordered, an entire appetizer, because she did not write anything down. I also had to basically bus my own table while the server was at the bar talking to co-workers. We also had a hair in one of our dishes which I know happens at every restaurant once in a while but some better quality control could of helped on that. I know in the age of Covid good service is hard to find but this shouldn't be acceptable at buddy's. Troy location is a very nice restaurant, I just hope that get their act together. read more
