Our party of eight enjoyed a wonderful, five-star, five course experience at Bud's/Silver Run on New Year's eve, 2021. We totally loved it - the food, service and ambiance - from the first course to the last super tasty bite. We'll definitely list it as one of our very favorite restaurants. Brooke suggested the bread pudding for dessert, and it was the best ever. My wife remarked that she, a true taste-tester of steak, had never had a better cut of beef. Have eaten at Bud's three times, and those times were memorable in good ways. Friendly greeting, nice ambience, and (as expected) well prepared food options. Bud's does have sort of a split personality because it's equal parts low key, casual, blue collar pub joined at the hip to a French style dining experience complete with white linen tablecloth, fine wine list and attentive wait staff. The meat and seafood on the restaurant side were well prepared, and the vegetables crisp and not over cooked. Many menu items were "local" and that adds a nice touch. The dining room is small, quiet and quirky. Not many secrets in there, as the tables are small and situated close together. The $20 corking fee applies to beer as well (yes, good beer has corks too), so that's something to consider. The pub side is quiet and cozy, with a lot of the same food items available. Good place to hang out and watch a game, but the $7 a pour craft beer prices are an ouch. Burger and wings were good. All in all, Buds is the highest quality food for miles in any direction and worth the drive, but expect to pay for the quality. You'd have no idea that this island of edible culture exists as you drive by on Rt 97. It doesn't exactly scream fine dining based on the exterior. Ken is a pleasant man who has worked hard to establish himself at this location. read more

As I mentioned in my previous review, in which my family and I were thoroughly upset at our horrendous experience, I wanted really badly to give Bud's the benefit of the doubt and just hope we experienced a truly one off situation. I did my best to stay optimistic and do just that, and boy, I couldn't be happier that I did! After hearing about our negative experience, the owner, Ken, reached out to me personally and invited my family and I back to to try and make things right. Just reaching out to me, expressing concern over our experience, goes a LONG way in my book. Above and beyond that though, Ken didn't only make it right, he confirmed my sneaking suspicion that our experience was the unfortunate circumstance of us going on a night when they were experiencing "The Perfect Storm," so to speak-- everything that could go wrong, did go wrong-- and it happens to the best. Ken and his wife were out of town during our initial experience, and several members of their staff were unable to make it in due to illness that day-- so they were in a very tough spot, and tried their best- but weren't able to succeed. That being said, our return trip to give them another shot went AMAZINGLY-- I can't express enough how spectacular our second visit was! I don't know where we dined the first time, but it wasn't the REAL Bud's at Silver Run! It was a pleasure to finally meet Ken and his wife Brooke that evening, and words can't begin to describe what incredibly hospitable and gracious hosts they were. From the moment we walked in the door, to the friendly wave we got as we exited the parking lot--they were there to make sure that every moment of our experience was nothing short of exemplary. There's something special about dining at a local, non-chain restaurant, and this special feeling is made to be even more extraordinary when the owners take such pride and joy the satisfaction of their customers! They didn't have to reach out and invite us back, but they did, and they did so out of genuine concern for their customers, and pride in the services they provide. We started the evening with an appetizer special-- fresh mussels intermingled with amazing andouille sausage. What a magnificently mouthwatering dish! We shared them amongst three of us and we all were unequivocally impressed! We each then continued on with soup--my father and I had the chili, and my mother and brother the cream of crab. The chili was breathtaking--the perfect blend of spice and flavor! Come to find out that Brooke was the mastermind behind it--she came out and described her inspiration behind putting it together. Hearing a little background on what we were eating makes dining experiences like this even more remarkable. She mentioned to us that she makes most of the soup at Bud's, and based off of the expressions on my mother and brother's faces when they tasted the cream of crab, I could see the evidence that their soups came from the same chef as the chili that took my breath away! Simply delectable! For our entrees, my mother and I ended up ordering the Fish special of the day, which was a Tile fish served over crab meat, complimented with a savory side of asparagus and wild rice. My brother had the Chicken Chesapeake, and my father the Jerk Chicken. The Tile fish was exemplary--an astonishing medley of savory flavor that paired perfectly with the fresh rice and vegetables. Both my mother and I were thoroughly enthralled! I didn't taste any of my brother or father's chicken dish's, however they both literally gave two thumbs up when they were asked how they were enjoying their dinner, so everything was excellent on that front! Not only was the taste simply out of this world, all of the food was presented gorgeously, and all of our dishes came out piping hot, at the exact same time! We couldn't leave such an amazing culinary experience without a cherry on top--so we decided to try a slice of cheesecake, which was served over a raspberry glaze. My friends--it was nothing short of DIVINE!! Do yourself a favor--skip the chains, and spend a little extra money to treat yourself to an evening at Bud's at Silver Run. The quality, the freshness, the flavor, the atmosphere AND the service are all worth your while! I assure you, you will NOT be disappointed. If you do make it out, I really hope you have an opportunity to meet Ken and his wife during your stay--they are simply outstanding people, and we can't wait to visit them again! THIS was the Bud's at Silver Run that we've heard so much about-- not the place we went to before my first review-- and we were SO glad to finally experience the place in it's true glory! read more

The food was just okay. The bathrooms are RIGHT NEXT to the dining area, and we could hear / smell a patron with stomach issues. It was awful! Also, the entrance isn't clearly marked. We walked into the bar and were gawked at. Even the bartender did not acknowledge us. We finally figured out how to get into the restaurant area, and it was like night and day. The restaurant is trying to be an upper class establishment but the bar is a complete dive / dump. Excellent, given location. Don't let the outside fool you, this place is elegant on the inside, and would make a great place for a date, romantic evening, or just a nice dinner with friends. The decor and ambiance is such that you can dress up or dress down - your choice. My husband and I decided to check out Bud's for Carroll County restaurant week. I was highly skeptical, but everything was delicious. We both started with the sausage and grits, which was truly delicious. The grits are milled locally - actually, everything is local pretty much. So tasty. Next came local salads, also very good. For dinner, I had rockfish with corn & tomato salsa - perfetly done, very nicely presented. My husband had the ribeye, which was good, but typical. Dessert was peach foster with a scoop of ice cream. This was fresh and tasty, and not overly heavy like some desserts. There was a good selection of wine and beer. I would like to go back and try the bar menu, as it also looks excellent, but a lower price. I would have given the main dining room 5 stars except that I think the prices are just a tad high for the area. read more

After reading through all the amazing reviews our hopes were high for this place. Unfortunately the meal was underwhelming. I had the pork loin, which was over cooked. The accompanying sauce and sides were bland. My wife had the chicken and stated that she's had better at chain restaurants. I'd skip this place. One of the few gems in Westminster with amazing food, a cozy (and historic) atmosphere and top-notch service. Happens to be on our side of town, but it's a bit on the outskirts as you head up 97 towards Littlestown. Worth the drive if you live further away. We usually stop in on a whim-- on our way up to PA for a movie or whatever-- and eat in the pub. Similar menu as the fine dining side but prices are adjusted accordingly. We used to drive past this place on our way to Raven's games. It never looked like much. Just another bar...holey smoke this restaurant is awesome. The polite staff adds some class to a place that is casual but gives the feel of a more higher class place and can pull off a formal atmosphere for special occasions and groups. I was in town for a wedding and wanted to treat myself. Found this hidden gem on Yelp and truly enjoyed my dinner. I ordered a ribeye steak and the house salad. For dessert I tried their cranberry bread pudding. In all, I can say I was very satisfied and enjoyed the ambience. I was solo so it "seemed" like other tables received more attention. There seemed to be only one server so perhaps that was it? I wasn't impressed with the bread pudding but otherwise a great visit. read more

Went to Bud's At Silver Run last night for the first time to have a few beers with my big brother and decided to eat while there. Great place. Bar very friendly. Bartender Brittnany was fun as hell. Also had the pleasure of dealing with one of the awesome wait staff, Shawna, keep that woman around, she was incredible. Great atmosphere, great food, cold beer and great people to deal with. In searching for a new restaurant to try, my wife and I checked out some online reviews. With the positive reviews on yelp and open table, we decided to give Bud's a try, booking our reservations online. As other reviewers had mentioned, we found a creek flowing through the parking lot. We had to laugh as we crossed it twice to get to the dining room entrance. Upon entering, the hostess met us with a smile on her face and led us to a cozy table near the fireplace. I knew right away that we could "own" that table for the night if we wanted to. We were first given the wine and drink menus. Bud's has a impressive list of both wines and microbrews. We were both happy with our selections. Once we were enjoying our drinks, our waitress provided the dinner menus. As can be seen online, the menu offers a variety of interesting and tempting dishes. My wife dared to try the beet salad and, for her entree, the sea scallops. I ordered the house salad to start and the crab cake for my entree. As we waited, we enjoyed our drinks with a basket of warm rolls served with butter as well as a small carafe of olive oil. My wife didn't know what to expect with the beet salad and found it had a sublte flavor. Although she enjoyed it, she wouldn't order it again. My house salad was fresh with just a little vinaigrette mixed in. When I asked how the scallops were, my wife's reply was "succulent". They were prepared just right and were paired nicely with fingerling potatos and asparagus. I also thoroughly enjoyed the crab cake. It had very little filler, plenty of flavor, and of a good proportion. It was also accompanied with the fingerling potatos and asparagus. For dessert, we avoided the temptation of their home made peanut butter pie and opted for fresh blackberry and strawberry based desserts. They were delicious and left us feeling comfortably full. My sisters and I arrived later in the evening and sat on the "patio". There was just one waitstaff and one helper working the three tables in the restaurant. It's a really nice restaurant but tries to hard to be fancy. Just be good. Sit your guest with the dinner menus. Give the specials when you come to the table to get the drink order. We were there for 20 mins with nothing to read or do while we waited for drinks. You do not need to present menus with specials. The whole exchange was odd. The waitress was rude and her demeanor with us was not great. Food was good. Porkloin egg roll was great. The cabbage and sauce under was very well seasoned for the dish. The crab crustinis were just ok. Not worth the price. The cram of crab soup was delicious. Two of us ordered the crabcake dinner. It was good but the cake was cold/lukewarm, potatoes and veggies were hot. The other got the salmon which she said was really good. Overall, we will be back but may just sit in bar area. read more

A hidden gem!! What a wonderful find. The drink menu and food menu is creative and a wonderful variety. The portions are plentiful. The crabmeat egg roll and seafood on risotto are to die for. A jewel of a restaurant! We went out for a ride and something good to eat and happily we enjoyed a dinner that was worthy of celebration. New Zealand rack of lamb and crab crostini were our choices and we savored every bite. Ken, the owner, was charming and fun to talk with. Phenomenal! Went for dinner last night for the first time and every single thing about it was great. We brought our 11 year old son and our waiter was super nice to him, kept his Shirley Temples filled which he loved. Our dinner was delicious, the steak was perfect. Dessert was the best Lemon Tart we've ever had. The chef came out a few times checking on each of the tables - that's a rare treat that you just don't find all too often anymore. We came here at 4:45. First ones in dining room and we were told we needed a reservation to eat here. The computer showed only 3 other reservations for 5:00 and there were plenty of tables to accommodate us. The sign outside even says open for dinner and according to yelp you didn't need a reservations. Won't be tempting this place again. read more

It's rated the best restaurant in the county, with good reason. Go on Thursday or Friday for the very best, house made, clam chowder on the planet! (Sorry, Boston, but you're not even close). We just had a wonderful experience with our server, Brooke. We stopped in for lunch, having never been to this restaurant before. We had our 1 month old and 1 year old along. Service was leisurely, definitely the right kind for good food, even if you're just dropping in for a sandwich. My husband had the Swiss alps turkey sandwich, while I enjoyed the Englishman roast beef. Both were fantastic. The chicken satay was lovely, and the chicken fingers for our little guy were very good, obviously hand breaded. Even as our little guys became restless, Brooke was on point.
