This is absolutely one of the best pizzas, if not the best pizza in town. The salads are equally good. Always very fresh. I love the seasonal salad that changes, obviously, with the season but subtly. There's a nice selection of wine and they actually have one of the only house reds of any restaurant in town that I actually enjoy. I believe it is currently a Syrah and I am not a Syrah fan as a rule. It is a very well curated wine menu, overall. I cannot speak to the pasta because I can't seem to pull myself away from the pizza and salad during the multiple visits but plan to very soon. There is actual parking on site, albeit, small. The only place where they don't really step up is the ambience and size of the place is very small so it can be difficult to get in quickly during the busy hours. I went here a couple of weeks ago and the service was very slow and the restaurant was dead which was confusing. I asked what is the reason for taking so long and was met with passive aggressive remarks which felt like they may have taken longer on purpose since asking. Got some fresh, fluffy pies from a bougie pizzeria. They're $20 a pie (jaw drop), but if you go during happy hour, they're half off! At the César Chávez location, chefs make your pizza in front of you. We tried pepperoni and garlic but much preferred the white sauce with jalapeño and corn. The pizza dough was incredible, though the flavors could be improved; they felt a bit basic for the price. When I first walk in and ask for a table for 2, they tell me that the only seating is 2 at the end corner of a communal table or a 20 minute wait for 2 seats at the bar. I see several tables empty. I don't fight it because I assume they are reserved. Then my partner comes in and asks for a table after I had just asked about the tables. The host then makes accommodations to seat us at a table that never ends up being taken. Clearly their communication with me was not consistent with the availability of tables throughout the entire night because we were pretty much the last ones seated in the entire restaurant. After that, we finally got seated at a table which I had asked for and was denied point blank by the host. Once seated, we had a server come, a female with short hair and tattoos and young. We told her that we had our own bottle and asked to have it opened knowing there was a fee. When she stated it was a $25 cork fee, we asked if there was a bottle of wine instead that might be worth buying instead of paying for a $25 cork fee. The server gave an incredible amount of attitude and told us that they have such an extensive wine menu that doesn't go under $60 a bottle. She was so incredibly rude that I was appalled. She then got mad when we told her that we didn't want to do a taste test of our own wine bottle, and got mad at us when we said to skip the taste and just pour our glasses for us. I then watched her go to a coworker to switch tables because she seemed very annoyed with us. Overall, I would give the service a 1. Food was good. Service was not great. Came here on a Sunday not knowing they do happy hour on the weekends. Arrived at 4:30 and got the 2nd to last table. Learned it was 1/2 off pizzas and ordered 3 for 2 people. All the pizzas were really good because of the wood fired oven cooked crust. I originally thought the Fresca with the fresh arugula and lemon was my favorite. It was light and had summer vibes but then I ate the calabrese. Oh man the spicy of the Serrano pepper and who doesn't love fresh basil. Wow, was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this meal. Food tasted fresh and the flavor combos were delicious. My favorites were the cavateli pasta with the mint/lemon sauce, the mushroom pizza that had caramelised onions and peperoncinis, and the vodka pizza. The restaurant filled up shortly after (4:30pm it was full!) and then folks had long wait times. The wait staff was prompt and added to the ambiance of an upscale and fresh pizza dining experience. The highlights were the Red Pie and the wine list! Happy hour is 1/2 off Pizza's and bottles of wine under $100. We split a Chenin Blanc and we're very happy with our choice - it was seriously amazing. We ordered 3 pizzas because the deal was too good to pass up! The red pie, taleggio, and the Calabrese. The calabrese was more loaded with toppings and the taleggio was a light but more cheesy and creamy. The red pie however was light and bursting with flavor. You could taste all the freshness of the tomatoes, the sweet, acidic, and salty. It was just wow. I recommend Bufalina but beware going outside of happy hour as it will get quite expensive! Great Happy Hour, Huge Wine List. Ok came on a Thursday afternoon with a friend for Happy Hour. It's from 4:30-6:30pm and includes half off pizzas and half off bottles of wine under $100. WHAT A DEAL!! Service is a bit slow at the beginning as people pack into happy hour, but it got better towards the need. Highly recommend coming early to snag a table. Pizza is absolutely delicious and what you would expect from a good Neapolitan style. We picked a Chianti which paired perfectly with the pizza. The wine list is extensive, so I recommend asking the bar tender for a recommendation or picking a mid-range wines. Usually those are a better bang for your buck. All good things come to an end and as has the run for the most phenomenal pizza recognition at Bufalina. We waited for 1.5hrs to be seated, which I can understand on a Friday night. But so many tables were left open - maybe short on staff? The disappointment was that our pizza took about 65 minutes to come out - and they forgot one of three of our pies. The pizza takes just a few minutes to cook so they were clearly back up (even though they do dine-in only). One of three pizzas was the wrong order because they threw on some meats on a vegetarian order. The one we did get was soggy and cold. I learned their chef has left. I highly recommend arriving at this time. We totally beat the rush. The Happy Hour is every day from 4-5:30. Half off pizzas, half off bottles of wine, $6 house wine(that day was Rose & Red), $2 off beers. Our favorite pie was the Red Pie. The sauce was packed with so much flavor. Might be cuz I'm a big garlic fan. Next time definitely will add Pepperoni to it. Our waitress told us the menu changes about every 2 days. So keep this in mind if you see something online and think it will be on the menu when you dine in. I had seen a pie I wanted to try online and they didn't have it on the menu when we arrived, but regardless there are plenty of tasty options. All the staff was so friendly and happy. Yesterday we did a double date here with another couple. They do not take reservations for 4 so you may have to wait, but the wait is worth it! After a 45 minute wait we sat down and ordered. The ambiance inside was simple but still cute. The music is a little loud but we could at least still hear each other. Parking was not too bad, we just parked on the street. Now for the food. We got the salad and bread as an appetizer. The salad was so good with a tart mustardy vinaigrette dressing that was paired with I think pairs and it sounds weird but it worked! We also shared a margarita pizza and a red sauce pizza. Both of them tasted delicious. The red sauce is so good, garlicky and not too sweet! I like when sauces are savory. Classic example of an amazing BOH & a careless / unprofessional FOH. The food is amazing. I was seated at the bar next to an ex-employee who was taken care of immaculately in terms of food timing, communication etc. I on the other hand was not. My salad was rung in as a 'side of dressing' - all of my food came later than expected based on others ordering before me nearby. All of the FOH was drinking in plain sight as well, which maybe is a free policy here but would never fly in most reputable establishments. The 'manager' was kind & comped my wine but my server continually avoided me instead of actually addressing anything & even rushed me to box my items towards the end of my meal. I came with a friend to celebrate both of our birthdays. There are a few parking spots but it was full when I got there so I parked a block away. When we got there around 6:30, it wasn't crowded at all but looked a lot more full when we were leaving. We started with bread and butter and ordered the Caesar salad. Both were good! For our main course, we got the red pie. It was good but I wanted more cheese (see photo), which they brought and that helped. The service here is some of the most wildly awful in all of Austin- and it's not a one-off. My husband, young son and I got there before opening & after trying to convince us to be at the "community table", we were seated at a table by the door and our server (hold the serving) showed up with a scowl and not so much as a feeble attempt at a greeting. This behavior ensued for the entirety of our dinner. She took food away without asking, removed my wine glass that was still 1/4 full. I have been going to buffalina since 2019 and had pleasant experiences until this past Sunday. The Manager was extremely rude when we were ordering this time. I tried ordering a pepperoni pizza and I was met with a condescending tone from her as she informed me that they don't offer a pepperoni pizza but it could be added to the margherita. (I knew this but forgot as it had been a while since my last visit - my bad). My partner asked if they could hold the parsley on the mushroom pizza and that was also an inconvenience for her as she demanded to know why he wanted to remove the parsley.. I get that it could be a food allergy thing, but that's not what she was getting at and that was very clear to me. I'm not sure why this attitude is allowed here or why it was directed at me and my partner as we did nothing to provoke it. I observed her go over to another couples table and greet them with hugs and a kind tone, so it seems like she had an issue with us in particular. Again, we were not unpleasant to her, I said my please and thank yous and acted with kindness. To wrap this up, management needs an attitude adjustment as this is not how you should make your customers feel. I'm not sure where the ego is coming from and maybe she was just having a bad day, but I was irked enough to leave this review and will not be spending my money here going forward. read more

They have an awesome happy hour from 4-530 daily but good luck getting seated if you show up at 5! How do you go wrong here? Now onto the stars of the show: Garden Salad - big portion and perfect for sharing. Tasty and light dressing. Straciatella - order this. It's one large piece of bread cut into 4 pieces with this amazing tomato jam and mozz blend on top - fantastic. Not pictured bc it was devoured as soon as it hit the table. First place in Austin that lives up to the hype & even more, absolutely INCREDIBLE - if you haven't been, run here! We popped in on Monday evening for dinner, and we're able to get a table for 2 quickly. We were planning to behave with the ordering, but once we had one look around, we knew we'd be remiss if we didn't indulge. With that, we got going with some starters: The Stracciatella with tomato jam was phenomenal. Every single bit was better than the last, didn't want it to end. We also split the Orecchiette pasta, which was another stunner. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was hearty but light & perfect for a summer dish. Then came the mains, we ordered a Margherita and the N'duja (white sauce) pie. These didn't disappoint and are by far the BEST pizzas you will have in Austin (or Texas). To say we were stuffed is an understatement, but our server mentioned a Key Lime Ice Cream with graham cracker salt topping, so we had to go for it. Again, another star on the menu!! Literally, every dish was executed beautifully and every bite was bursting with flavor! Wine list was great, and the staff was all phenomenal as well. Welcome back, Bufalina! Overall, a super solid dining destination - I love the Neapolitan pizzas, wine options and fresh bread with butter. You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes. I usually try to pick one red sauce and one white sauce based selection and they shine in both styles. If it was just about the food, it would be a 5/5 for me but there are some elements that aren't my favorite - the seating, noise level and wait time. Communal seating is the norm, there are several six-seater picnic-style seats and only a handful of two or four seaters available. It is a very cozy dining experience and we had to play tetris with our and our neighbors' dishes to make it all fit on the table. If visiting during prime dinner hours, be prepared to wait upwards of an hour. There's some seating outside and the option to have a drink which helps pass the time. read more
