I have been coming here for around a year. There have only been a few times where I actually start my appointment on time. I have been asked to wait for over 30 minutes before when I had an appointment. One time they even asked me to come early and still had to wait for after my original appointment. These girls don't have a handle on the scheduling. Very unprofessional. The last time i went there they started on time however I will not be coming back. I wanted a new full set of acrylic gels. Started right away, however the women doing my nails was beyond slow and i was getting irritated as every hour pasted by and my nails were not close to being done. My friend came for her appointment and hour after me and finished before me. Toward the end i kept asking how much longer I have been here for over two hours. Then the women hurried and did a terrible job, didn't clean up my hands, glue everywhere. It was complete embarrassing for this establishment. If this was the first time something along these lines happened maybe I would brush it off, but there was no apology or explanation. I shouldn't have to request that a person NOT do my nails. What happened to this place? The location is clean and nice but the technicians are horrible. I used to be a regular years ago and decided to come back. The last 5 times have been terrible. Can't even get a decent pedicure. My toes don't even feel clean. The gentlemen doing my pedicure was shaking the entire time and he seemed confused and flustered the entire time. He gave me anxiety. One of the other techs tried to push a manicure on me and two other gentlemen getting their nails done. She kept on persisting and talking about money. It was just so cheap and made everyone feel uncomfortable. I absolutely LOVEE Yen, she's the best nail tech. My mom and I go to Buff & Tweeze and always schedule our appointment with her. She takes her time and does an amazing job all the time! My nails used to be very thin and would break easily. I now do SNS (powder dip) and my nails have grown and no longer break. I will say though, one time she was out of town and I went in anyway with someone else who does brows there and she didn't listen to me at all. I said I just wanted them cleaned up bc Fida and I had been working on getting them thick and we'd finally achieved that and had been keeping it up for years! Worst manicure and pedicure I've ever had. Literally. The only thing I got was the person removed my nail polish, haphazardly filed my nails for all of 30 seconds, put on nail polish and top coat. That's all. Both for my manicure and pedicure. Just my nails were dipped in water for all of 5 seconds. No massage. No lotion. No oil. NOTHING. I could have done a better job at home and kept my money. I was looking forward to getting and actual manicure and pedicure while I had child care. What a waste. I will never be back here. Take your money someplace else. Don't waste it here. The best part, my friend had an appointment for same thing - regular mani/pedi. She got what we normally consider a regular mani/pedi. Her hand and feet were dipped in water and actually got a massage. Also, as others have noted, a teapot is used to fill water for pedicures and half a teapot of water is all you get. read more

Update 2/14 I have now been to this place several times and each time I am left disappointed - this time I wanted a heart painted on top of my color. Which has been done at other places- so the decides he's going to put a Crystal little heart- ok- so he puts it Facing out- we fix it and then he puts the other one the same way- I left it and I tipped him. And I will never go back- I dont know why this place just can't get their act together. have been to this place before covid and didn't have a good experiences all I want is a place that does nail design on my big toes . been going to them for decades, as a loyal customer it's sad that Dian is not there anymore!!! i think she was one of the bests who really did the best job of all... i'm not sure why isn't she there anymore, but i hope she is ok and i hope she will come back soon. i called to made an appointment with her but i couldn't because she is on leave of absent... i didn't end up booking my appointment with anybody else there because it happened in the past, that when Dian was not available, i had to see Tracy and sad to say that i felt like Tracy didn't care about at all she just wanted to finish the job on my nails and get it over with because she knew that she wasn't my first choice. i must say that, that is very very unprofessional and just rude. all my friends and family book their appointments with Dian. it's so sad that some managers don't value their great employees and they take them for granted. i hope they'll work it out. read more

i am actually furious after leaving here. i went in for gel removal and a regular manicure. the employee asked me if i had acrylics when i walked in. that's how long and nice my natural nails were, and perfectly almond shaped. and then they were completely botched. i asked for a little bit of length to be taken off and they were all completely cut off with clippers, straight across. i asked for almond shaped but the damage was done when he cut straight across removing all of my length. my nails look like they were done by a child.. from the painting to the filing to the questionable tools used. an employee was lounging in a massage chair and i could see his dirty bare feet. i didn't wait for my nails to dry because i wanted to run out of there so fast; i knew i had to go home and redo them anyway. this experience ruined my entire day. now i'm left with nubs where my long beautiful nails used to be. read more

Eyebrow shaping review only! I've never had my nails done here. I called and asked if they had someone who does breading they said yes. I went in she was using tweezers I finally asked her to stop and thread instead she said no I have to do this first. I go twice a month no one ever needs to use tweezers. I don't know how this place is still running and I wish I wrote this review earlier but forgot to. I used to come here for acrylics and pedicure but the last time I came was definitely my LAST time. First off-they have absolutely ZERO customer service. The receptionist is doing her own shit at the desk on her phone or is nowhere in sight. The last time I came, I got a pedicure and one of my toes had acrylic on them and the lady fixing it made it so crooked and thick that I was embarrassed to walk out. I constantly asked her to fix it but after a while I realized she seriously doesn't know how. The lady who did my acrylics hurt me so bad I dont even know where to begin. She forcefully took my old acrylic off after I told her it hurt instead of soaking them and then gently removing them the way it should be done. She then did them completely uneven. Half my nails were thick and the other half were thin. She completely disregarded the shape I asked her for and my nails started coming off within a week. Prices are also high compared to other salons who do an outstanding job. They charge for every little thing and still do a horrible job. They're at least $5-10 pricier than any other nail salon I've been to. I don't know how this place is still open. Do NOT come here. read more

I know this is a new business and I hate writing bad reviews, particularly for mom and pop owned places, but this one I couldn't let go.... I'm driving on Foothill Blvd. thinking I'll go to any one of my usual nail places in La Crescenta but happened to notice the new place in the Starbucks/Shanto's Bakery/T-Mobile shopping center and decide to give it a shot. The manicurists were all really nice and all but the quality of work was so subpar, I was left speechless afterward... I walk in and ask for a really small trim, square shaped with a red polish and end up leaving with literally no nail left on my left hand and a just a tiny bit on my right hand, both hands with the edges rounded and gooped on red nail polish. When she finished with my right hand I looked at my hands in horror and said I wanted them to be rounded so she proceeded to file off MORE nail to get it to be square but there was literally no nail left.... To make a horrible situation even worse, she put on my red nail polish as if she was applying a paste. My brother could have done a better job. Oh and let's not forget that she clipped my toenail at an angle so it came out looking crooked...sweet Jesus, how much worse can it get?! I came home and wiped the nail polish off and realized she hadn't even put on a BASE COAT! The red nail polish turned all my nails red.....wow. WOW. If you want gorgeous nails with fantastic designs for a reasonable price, definitely check out Buff & Tweeze! Every time I bring in a picture of a design (I collect nail design pics from Pinterest), they always manage to outdo themselves. [Lana can free hand any design and make it look better than the original picture!] I have had several strangers ask to take pictures of my nails so they can get my designs recreated. I got my first gel mani/pedi at Buff & Tweeze in December of 2013 for my college roommate's wedding; an old coworker recommended them to me as I had not stepped foot a nail salon in probably almost a decade. Ever since that first visit, I was immediately addicted! I'm now a Buff and Tweeze regular! I usually see Tania and Tina checking in clients and booking appointments (love them!), but everybody who works the front desk is great. They're all willing to help find colors and give their opinions on modifying designs to best fit my nails and personal style. Also, when the salon is really busy, they're always willing to lend a hand anywhere they can - whether it be helping with gel removals, cleaning stations, etc. I always get gels, which are notorious for destroying your nails. Since I started getting my gels at Buff & Tweeze, my nails are actually stronger - and they grow so quickly! There are several nail salons significantly closer to my home, but Buff & Tweeze is definitely worth the drive...So go treat yourself to a mani/pedi ASAP - you'll thank me! ;-) Here's a couple tips for you when you check them out: 1. Make an appointment. They do their best to accommodate walk-ins, but they get pretty busy during the weekends, especially during wedding and prom season. 2. If you want a great hand massage, get your manicure done by Aaron...He's fab! 3. Expect your gels to last about 2-3 weeks (mine last that long and I'm extremely rough with my hands). 4. Check them out on Instagram! They hold contests where you can win gift certificates and they advertise fun events like girls' nights (with wine!). My friend and I made an appointment for 12:45 and did not get seated until 1:15. While we were waiting no one bothered to talk to us or ask us what we were waiting for. Two older women walked in and were seated before me and my friend, who made appointments earlier that morning. The woman at the front desk acted as if she didn't want to be there and was really rude and short when we talked to her. I didn't like the way she talked to her employees. Also when I asked if I could get my eyebrows done she acted as if it was too much effort. If she didn't want my business I would gladly leave. The only reason I stayed was because I had a gift certificate. My pedicure was not that good. I got a lighter color and they didn't get all of my old nail polish off. I decided to give a new place a try since my regular girl at my other salon doesn't work on Sunday's. I love the nail designs that I see on the Buff and Tweeze instagram, so I really wanted to give them a try. If you are looking for a place that you can feel pampered at, this is definitely not the place for you. I was incredibly bothered the way the nail tech responded to my bitten down nails. I am already self conscious about them, I even told her that I was prior to putting my hands up on the table. I told her I wanted acrylics and regular polish. I had pointed out a color that the girl next to me was using because I liked it, the receptionist told me it was a gel color, the nail tech would not back down with the gels. She kept pushing for me to get gels on top of my acrylics. Finally after the 5th "No!", she asked me why not. Was it really her business why I didn't want gel applied to my acrylics? Reason being, single moms need to budget, the extra money for that exceeded my nail budget, still, that was none of her business. I had asked for a manicure. I noticed that the salon closed at 6 and i had gotten there at 4:45. I am sure she was feeling rushed, so I asked that she just do my cuticles really nice since they were in bad shape. It was, perhaps, the worst cuticle clean up I had ever had on my hands, I actually questioned myself and I was tempted to just get up and walk out and to ask for a refund, they could have taken the acrylics off if they wanted to. The acrylics themselves were not placed nicely. Most are really slanted and are not straight. I had told her that i wanted my nails super short so that they looked natural. Instead of doing what I had asked for, she cut them down to what she felt was super short. I asked her to keep going, she said she still had to file. I was waiting for that file job, she did not file enough. In closing, I'd like to say that this place is small and not very busy. I find the nail techs to be annoying and rushed. I guess a positive thing is that none of my nails have fallen off, so something was done right to my liking. I am just an advocate for making the customer happy when they are paying money to be pampered or to have something of luxury done. I don't think I will ever come back here though. read more

She took her time to work around my nails, the shape, and the nail art design. Location was easy to find. There was a lot of parking spots. Prices are reasonable. My gel manicure with two designs and regular pedicure was a little over $60. Inside decor was lovely and chic. I did not enjoy seeing the sofas, chairs, and tables dirty with nail polish or whatever it could be. Since I was happy with my service, I will return soon :) read more

Jade has been doing my nails for a couple of years now, she used to be in Covina and I lost track of her for a couple of months, I went to a few places in the same area, and I was always disappointed, as soon as I was able to get in contact with her I told her I needed her to do my nails again, she said she was to far for me to drive. Beware acrylic lovers! I've been coming here for two years with no issues, so I am very disappointed to be making this review. I came in wanting a full set with a gel manicure and pedicure. My problems began with my nail tech, Jade. First, she tried taking off my remaining acrylics without soaking them in acetone. I told her that she can't just lift the acrylic up with another plastic nail, but she persisted. I eventually got her to compromise by handing me a BOWL of acetone to dunk my fingers in. She then left me alone for 15 minutes while my nails felt like they were about to burn off. She managed to cut the skin under my nail with a drill, drill into my cuticles multiple times, and not once say sorry until I brought it to her attention. All she did was talk to a male nail tech who was eating next to her tools and playing around with her clean tools meant for me. Disgusting, unsanitary and unprofessional. Only giving an additional star because the pedicure was lovely. Of course, it was done by someone different and if I knew her name I'd mention it. read more
