The original service that I requested from build pros was to paint the outside of my house. They did such a fabulous job that I then ordered new windows and for them to paint the inside of my house, as well as add gutters. All of the building pro professionals were absolutely outstanding. The painters were on time and cleaned up after themselves each day. The paint job they did was professional and look absolutely beautiful when they finished the guy that painted the inside of the house I would refer them to anyone, they took great pride in their work they were so, caring and kind regarding our items that had to be moved and put back just like they were found. the guys that came to put the gutters in were total professionals they came up with an idea where I would not have to have a ugly long gutter hanging out or protruding from the house they figured out a very innovative way make the gutters look beautiful. These guys took such pride in their work When ever i had an issue and discussed with my project person it was taken care of promptly. All work was done with quality and professionalism. They followed up each day to let me know what would be worked on and completed. It was done. Similar experience as others. Sales pitch with pressure to sign the same day. We declined several times and were told they would not give us an official proposal, after asking again we were left with a notebook sheet of paper with a handwritten price and no other information. Typically we don't fall for the door to door give you a quote sales, but my husband made it very clear to them BEFORE they came over that we would not purchase anything same day, they can give us a quote, and that we would be getting other quotes from other roofers. They agreed, so we gave it a chance. Despite my husband telling this to several people several different times, at the end of the sales pitch it of course turned into a you must sign today with a lot of back and forth on why we would not sign, digging into what we could and could not afford, why won't we sign, more pressure, over and over again. I felt the sales rep primarily looked and talked to my husband and not me. I expressed that this style of sale pitch pushing us to sign the same day or we won't get the sales price doesn't feel great and that we just want a proposal to be able to compare and get other quotes. Their presentation of information was good, but didn't leave us with any information on what the price included. The sales rep said that I was supposed to remember it all on my own. Very unprofessional. Overall, it was a terrible experience. We have received other quotes before and typically the contractor or any working professional will do a walk through on your house and provide a physical quote on paper what the quote includes and excludes. Warning! The Regional Manager Anika Avery and her colleague visited my home for an estimate regarding potential work I needed done. I informed Ms. Avery that I was at the infantile stage and just wanted an estimate so that I could compare and do further research. After her unexpected 4-hour presentation I declined signing any contract and informed her that that I wanted to obtain additional estimates and so forth. After many attempts, on her part, to convince me that I needed to act now to receive this great offer I stood firm and reiterated that I just wanted an estimate. She then offered me a discount and shaved $11,000 off the estimate. I declined the offer. Ms. Avery became visibly agitated, tense, and brash. I felt very uncomfortable in my own home at this point. There was so much tension in the air you could cut it with a butter knife. Well, they finally left. Approximately 3 to 4 weeks later I received a letter from my Homeowners Insurance company terminating my insurance due to the same conditions I was seeking estimates from Ms. Avery for. I'm not assuming Ms. Avery had anything to do with it. I'm merely telling a story, and the reader should make that judgement on their own. This is merely a diary log of my events during and after subsequent meeting with Ms. Avery and her colleague. Furthermore, I receive at least 3 calls a day from contractor's soliciting their services for the same type of work I discussed with Ms. Avery. Again, make your own judgement if this is just coincidental or par for the course. I believe that because she didn't get a sale she attempted to dem my light; however, my light shines too bright for her to dem. I've subsequently sold this home and moved on to greener pastures. I worked with contractors for 47 years. They canvassed our neighborhood and asked to give a quote. (Do not be honest with these guys because they will not be honest with you.) I told them up front that I was not looking to do work for two years. I said I would welcome a budgetary quote. That was ok, the guy said. Made an appointment. Nope, nothing doing. They wanted to sit down and try to convince me to do work right now, which I told them I was not going to do. So, no quote and just some wasted time. This company has an extremely agressive sales canvassing team that goes way overboard in harrassing people at their houses, by ringing doorbells, knocking on doors AND WINDOWS, shouting out loud on people's porches, "IS ANYONE HOME! IS ANYONE HOME!" I have seen their sales flyer distributors hang around for 5 minutes on someone's property, walking around to people's side yards, yelling through open windows, for homeowners to come out to talk about selling them their services. These people have no right to be even ringing someone's doorbell, bothering them, let alone conducting themselves in an agressive manner. People don't want to be bothered at home. This company should merely leave a sales flyer on someone's porch and walk away. They descend on someone's house and attack the house by all of their banging on people's doors and windows. Any company that employs such tactics, I have no doubt is a rip-off company that does slip-shod, slap-together work. Stay away from this bad actor company. Addendum To Above Review: I just called Build Pros to let them know that contrary to a woman there telling me that their company is reputable, when I called the week prior to complain about their sales crews attacking people's houses with way overly agressive sales tactics, I wanted to let them know that their Yelp page has other complaints (many complaints) from others, making the same claim as mine. The guy I talked to, who represented himself as the owner's "assistant", when I told him that I wrote a bad Yelp review of their company, asked me what the name of my Yelp page for my company was called. When I refused to give it to him, he made fun of me for not having my own Yelp page, as if having one was a sign of success. He said, "You don't even have one!" What he was really saying, is, if I had told him the name of my Yelp page, he would have written a false bad review in retaliation, even though he had no experience with my business whatsoever. I decided to go with Build Pros for two reasons, first for their professionalism, and second for not being pushy or rushing me into making my decision. Employee approached me outside of my house and asked if I was looking to upgrade windows. I told him I was looking into it but had not yet began shopping around. He scheduled me for a next day appointment to get windows sized with price estimate. Next morning another employee arrived and we talked about what windows to replace. Measurements were taken and we began to talk about estimate. She was very knowledgeable with windows and had some good exemplars with her. No complaints with her expertise. When It came down to the estimate and price is when we ran into problems. I was given MSRP price for windows, then a one month 10% discount, and another 15% discount if purchased the same day. I told her I would not be making a purchase today due to not shopping around or having knowledge of the product being purchased. She was very pushy about making the purchase. When I told her I had to make phone calls and get other estimates she came back with a final offer with the catch that I had to put up signs, make a video/yelp review, and allow them to take before and after photographs. Even then I told her I would not be comfortable making the purchase and would have to shop around more before purchase being made. She seemed very upset and called back her boss and told him I was being "Stubborn" and needed to do my due diligence before I made my choice. I was still sitting with her and my wife in our backyard when she is making the call and speaking to her boss about a possible client in such a way. She gathered her belongings and refused to be assisted and was very short with me before leaving. Made things very awkward. I am glad we did not proceed with deal after her attitude. She took all her paperwork and did not leave any estimate which kind of defeats the purpose of having her come over to give me one. Seems like she was here to make the deal today or just go on to the next person. So. . . Randomly stopped by my house offering their services. We decided to get a quote for 17 window replacements and 1 large slider. Well. . . the first guy came by and measured, then politely sat in our living room and wrote numbers on a yellow pad. A WHOPPING $31,000 quote!! But wait, he said, i can knock of 10%, then another 5%, then another 2% if we placed signs on our yard and write a testimonial which brought the price down to $21000 and then $19000 and finally $16000 (which we kindly shrugged off even though the $16k estimate was more accurate). So I asked the guy to email me an estimate in writing and his response to me was quite surprise because i work in law, he responded "oh we dont do written estimates, this pad is just as valid as a contract." While that may be true in Contract Law I have never ever ever worked with a contractor who wouldn't submit written estimates. Anywho, these guys are worse than car a salesman. Will try and pull every trick in the book into getting their customers to submit to work that they're overbidding on. These guys really dropped the ball. And I cannot vouch for the actual quality of their work. Because they no-showed on us. 3 times, in fact. We first met with them in 2023 to get new HVAC, focusing on a new heat pump for heating and AC. After meeting with a team of people, they gave us an initial estimate of over $30k! This was after we had met with a couple of other HVAC providers from smaller companies whose estimates ranged from $14k to $17k (in their defense, a week later Adeedo would also give us a $30k estimate - these big companies...whoa!). Oddly enough, upon hearing our reservations about their pricing, and our need to also get new landscaping, they somehow magically got their price down to $16.5k! At that price, we would have considered them, although we had MAJOR reservations about what felt like abusive pricing (after all, if we had all that cash just laying around, and did not have the landscaping issues, I am sure they would have taken the whole $30-something thousand without any reservations!). But unfortunately, we had a plumbing issue that forced us to get our entire house re-piped, so there went both our HVAC and landscaping budgets for the year. Fast forward to 2024, and we are back in the market for both the HVAC and landscaping work, and since Build Pros had been following up with us for the entire year, we met with them. This was a brand new team that had very little knowledge (just a few old notes perhaps?) from our previous discussions with their company. We even told them of our history with them and how their pricing left a bad taste in our mouths, and how Build Pros brought their price down from $30k to the teens. Yet somehow, this crew offered us an estimate of over $18k. Obviously, we pointed out that last year's estimate was $16.5k, so they got on the phone with a manager for what felt like an eternity, and came back with an even $15k, with a potential extra charge if asbestos was found. We had an upcoming meeting with our landscaper, and we wanted to get an estimate from him so that we could confirm our actual budget for the two jobs. Despite our many reservations with how Build Pros conducts its business, we were willing to accept their newly competitive price combined with the "relative security" of doing business with a larger company that has been around for a while. But when we did not sign up to do the business that day, I suspect that the Build Pro guys may have assumed that we were simply blowing them off instead of truly trying to confirm our budget. A couple of weeks later, we missed a call from Build Pros, which we assumed was a follow up from the team two weeks prior. But when we called them back, they referred to a completely new guy who scheduled a follow up appointment for the Friday before Memorial Day, May 24th. Although he was promising that he might be able to beat the $15k price, little did he know that we were ready to sign up and start the project even at $15k! However, no one showed up that Friday. I called Build Pros on Monday asking about the no-show, so they apologized profusely and set up another appointment for Friday, May 31st. Due to our history with Build Pros we were getting skittish at this point, but since my wife is pregnant and due in a few weeks, we REALLY wanted to get the AC running before the summer heat gets here! So Friday the 31st arrives, and AGAIN no one shows up for the appointment! Instead, about 20 minutes after the appointment time, and completely different guy from Build Pros called to set up an appointment as if he had no knowledge that someone was supposed to be at our house literally right at this moment. So after more apologies, he promised to come the following Monday and forwarded me to his manager to confirm the details. However, the manager for some reason, the said that she was not sure they could make the Monday appointment, but would check and then call me back to confirm. And that was the last we ever heard from them! That was Friday, May 31st. So to recap this incredibly long novel: 1. Build Pros' first estimate was over $30k, which they somehow whittled down to $16.5k 2. A year later, they started higher than the $16.5k, but came down to $15k plus asbestos remediation. 3. After a follow up call, we set up an appointment for May 24th - where we were intending to sign up and do the business - and they no-showed. 4. They no-showed again on May 31st. 5. On May 31st they set up another appointment for the following Monday that a manager was supposed to confirm and we never heard from them again. 6. On 6/4, we called another HVAC company (Incomparable Heating & Air in Anaheim), met with them on 6/7, started work on 6/12, and had a brand new heat pump, AC condenser and new ducts installed and paid for on Friday, 6/14. This was Build Pros business to lose, and they worked really hard at losing it! read more

Was told I would have a proposal in two days one week goes by follow up no response three days go by again second follow up no response. Call in and talk to the lead by the name of Angel, they give me excuses on why I never received my proposal. Was promised that him and the Director was come out and physically give me my proposal set up a date and time for him to come. that date came and they call 30 minutes after the time he was supposed to be and apologized with another excuse and said that he would still like to come out that they told him to give me a call when they were on their way never heard from them again. Time is valuable. Especially when you take time off from work to meet. Scheduled an appointment for this company to come out when one of the door to door canvassers (Anthony) came by. I was told to allow time for the walk thru of the project and a presentation. The appointment was scheduled with about a weeks notice for today at 11:00. It is now 12:15 and they are a NO SHOW / NO CALL. So I called them and the response to my statement about them not being here was a generic "i will transfer you" Did not offer an "I am sorry, let me put you in touch with the appropriate person." Obviously did not care. It came across as a NO big deal, happens all the time kind of feel in their response to not showing up. I take this as a good sign, they are not the company I would want to trust with this project or any of my other upcoming projects. Maybe just a random fluke, but good luck to anybody else using them. Edited and added after my post: I did not accept the transfer and stated I did not care to speak to anyone or reschedule. Person on the phone responded. with "OK" and we hung up. I did end up getting a return call with what came across as much more concern for not showing up, and what I perceived as a sincere apology and him owning up to a major error on their part. Reliability is everything when hiring a contractor for a big $ project. The sincere apology was appreciated, but I will be going a different contractor. Build Pros provided an estimate for windows replacement. During appointment scheduling, I was told it would take 45 minutes to one hour for the entire process. In my case, it took over 2.5 hours. Although I made it clear that I was not in the market for windows to their lead generating person (going door-to-door) due to other projects and commitments, I agreed to have this estimate done because the lead person convinced me there was no pressure, encouraged me to get multiple estimates, and stated that their estimate would be good for one year should I choose to pursue this in the future. However, during the estimate appointment, there was a lot of pressure to try and get a contract signed the day of the estimate. There was pushback when I stated I wanted to get additional estimates, and there were a number of sales tactics used to try and obtain an immediate commitment (e.g. marketing discounts, "only valid today" discounts, etc.). Build Pros will not provide an e-mail estimate, nor does the paperwork for the estimate detail any items/options that were discussed; they state an MSRP value, but you cannot see what is contained in that value as you would expect in a typical construction estimate (i.e. #of windows/doors, materials to be used, services provided, warranty, taxes, etc.). This does not work for me to commit to a project of this size, but others may be fine with it. read more

We got our roof done over a year ago and when we thought our roof was leaking with this heavy storm, I called the office and Derek immediately sent Salvador over. He inspected the ceiling and roof thoroughly, even in the rain, to discover it was our chimney that was cracked and was causing the dripping in our dining room. He offered to cover our chimney with heavy plastic, so he got back up and did it. Later that evening he reached out to make sure our leaking had stopped, it had in fact stopped. When we started thinking about a new paint job Build Pros happen to be in our neighborhood, so we made an appointment to meet with their sales reps. That meeting cemented our decision to use this company and they were able to begin work the following week. The crews that came to do the work were always on time, and each day we knew what work they were going to accomplish. The project manager, Sean, was always available to answer our questions and often stopped by to make sure the work was progressing as expected. The prep work, prior to painting, was massive and we were impressed by how much time was spent on that phase. The painting was then able to progress quickly, and they did a beautiful job. Do not even entertain this company! Build Pros employee Jovan came out for a roof estimate and we agreed on a price, signed a contract and gave a deposit. Two days later someone from the office called back and said they couldn't do it for that price and blamed it on their employee Jovan. Used some excuse that Jovan said it was a 1 layer roof when it's a 2 layer but on my contract he wrote 2 layer. Think they had buyers remorse and wanted more money out of me. Build Pros replaced my roof, and although the work was adequate, their customer service was HORRIBLE. It started with the estimator beginning the bid at $32k and in the end, dropped to $22k for an overlay. He had the nerve to say "the guys back at the office are going to laugh at me" for the discount he was providing. This should have been a red flag, but I signed with them that day. While replacing the damaged wood, they found 5 rafter boards that had rot. Although the estimator (Eric) made me believe all wood repair/replacement was included in the total price (I walked the perimeter of the home to show him the damaged wood), they charged me another $750 to replace these rafters. It should be noted that the shingles were already on my roof and I had paid a $7,600 down payment, so I was stuck. The explanation I received from Eric was he thought I wanted to have the job completed as cheaply as possible. Of course, this is ridiculous, as no one would pay $22k for a roof and allow rotted rafters that would never pass an inspection when the home is sold. Then there were scheduling issues. They said they'd be there one day, then not show. They said another day no one was coming, and then they'd be up on my roof. I had a party planned on Saturday and only invited guests based on the schedule they laid out. When I informed the project manager (Sean) I could not have roofers over on that Saturday, he said "I can't stop my crew from coming over for YOUR party". I felt unappreciated throughout the process. My neighbors need a new roof and asked me about my experience with Build Pros Construction and I told them to find another company. Any of you reading this review should do the same! Out of all the contractors that have stopped by to offer their services, I'm glad we chose Build Pros Construction at the end of the day. Just in case you don't want to read the rest, I just want you to know that I was very satisfied with the service they provided for the price offered. The team that worked with us were professional and their overall management of the project was VERY efficient. Everything flowed seamlessly in terms of schedule. The two people that I spoke too quite often at the beginning were Marco and Jovan. They were your office folks that took the measurements, explained the products available, did the payment stuff, etc. They were both great guys to talk to as they were thorough with what options I had, what it would take to get it done and how much it would cost. No hidden nonsense like some contractors might try to pull. If it wasn't for them, I would not have known the relatively poor situation the roof structure was in. I also learned a lot about the exterior and various paint jobs while talking to them. The more you know. I think it took around 1.5 hours to 2 hours each time when we got the quote for the paint job and the roof repairs. I appreciate that the guys took the time to explain everything versus rushing through everything. I enjoyed the technical explanations and demonstrations that they had ready. Super well organized. As mentioned before, both really great guys to talk to. The next person I worked quite a bit with was James (project manager). Another great person to work with. He was very clear with the schedule and kept everything flowing smoothly. Can you believe that the exterior paint job and roof repairs took about 2 weeks of work? The teams also worked weekends to get the jobs done too. I really appreciated that. I was very impressed with how they had everything planned so well from what task they were doing to coordinating with the city inspector. We all know how hard it can be to coordinate with government officials given the bureaucracy and whatnot. Super responsive when it came to answer calls/texts. He came by one Saturday evening when I thought the roof team accidentally removed the internet cable. Turns out my internet was just being crap that day. Nathan was one of the painters that I got to talk to quite a bit while he was here. Also another great guy and cleaned up really well afterwards. I didn't talk to the rest of the crew as much but they were very polite in their demeanor when we did talk. The crews that come by for work will rarely head inside the house and took care of 95% of the work outside. We really appreciated how the crews would clean up at the end of the day before they left whether they were done or not. ON some days, they stayed close to 7PM to put some finishing touches on and clean up. Your house will look like a warzone while they're working but it will be really clean at the end of the day. They don't leave the trash around and take it with them. They will rarely use your trash can to dump things in. Best part? The trash haul away cost is factored into your agreement. I can't emphasize how great their work ethic is when it comes to cleaning up at the end of the day. How does the final product look? The roof looks really damn awesome. It's not something I'll climb on and take a look at on a regular basis but it's something I can be happy about. It looks so much better than what we had before. Great workmanship. Same with the paint job. The colors look brand new, the rotted wood is replaced and it almost looks like a brand new house. Both of our products are energy efficient so we're really looking forward to how much energy we will save this summer relative to last summer. I'm glad our roof wasn't in terrible condition when we began repairs. The largely preventative measure will help keep the roof good for years to come. Again, I'm really glad we chose Build Pros Construction out of all the construction businesses that came by. They're someone that I would recommend to friends. We scheduled an appointment to get a free quote, and the price was surprisingly reasonable! I was ready for it to be an arm and a leg(like the company who gave us a quote prior) and we were surprised with the price! Anyway, I was very nervous to deal with construction in our home. But the crew was amazing! The project manager James was very professional and kept my nerves calm whenever I had a concern. When they were done they cleaned everything up, and I'm so happy with the results!!! They did take a longer then they said but that was due to the rain so it's understandable. We hired them to reroof. Pros / the good: -Roof result looks nice from the ground -They're very friendly and polite when you manage to speak to them. Cons / the bad: -Unresponsive, can't get a hold of the project manager or account manager. They'll ignore texts and calls. And I have been nothing but kind and empathetic towards them. I even defended them against my own family because I used to work in construction and wanted to be understanding about timelines and procedures. -Lack of internal communication / organization. From what I can tell, there's at least 4 tiers in the chain of command (boss, then account manager who signs you, then project manager who checks in during the project, then guy who leads the crew on site everyday) They will fail to update each other on meetings and agreements with us, causing the crew to show up on the wrong dates, misunderstandings about the contract, misunderstandings about payment due dates, etc. -Shady AF. You write the check to a different company name. We get a letter in the mail about our payment responsibility from some other materials company. They write on notepad paper and call it the invoice/receipt. They say they'll come back with a carbon copy of an official one and then go radio silent. -You sit through a 3hr sales pitch of them talking about their credibility and then have you sign a contract within that sitting to get a discount. Shame on us for being ignorant and cheap and signing them. Neutral: -Price, seems ok, they spend a long time talking about how high quality their materials and techniques are. Could fool me though because I know nothing about roofs. -They'll pitch a really long and substantial warranty. But, thinking ahead, warranties are useless if the company never answers calls or texts. I never write reviews because I know it could be detrimental to small businesses. But this is beyond frustrating. 0 stars for the company and service 2 stars for making the roof *look* nice from the ground, and for the hardworking crew, and the nice crew leader even though he only spoke 50% english. Tl;dr Quality seems decent. Price seems decent. Terribly unprofessional and shady. Buyer beware. read more
