The service was very good and it's a cute spot that I'd be willing to come back to. The best thing we had BY FAR were the beef croquettes. These were perfect, and I could have made a meal out of them. They had a tender birria like shredded meat inside with some cheese and probably some potato, I can't even remember but I do remember that everyone loved these. We also ordered asparagus, the Korean Fried Chicken, the shrimp with potatoes (all small plates) and one of my friends ordered the duck entree. My husband and friends had cocktails and mocktails; I didn't order one because they said they had nothing that was sweet. Incidental pet peeve: Saying "all our cocktails are balanced". I get it, you want to brag. But, some of us like things that are sweet, or as in the case of one of my friends, decidedly NOT sweet. If all of your cocktails are balanced the same way, it gives little useful info on what to order. I will respond to this by NOT ordering and sticking to tap water. I'd prefer it if you have a little something sweet and a little something not-sweet on the menu for those of us who don't actually want "perfectly balanced". That said, I did have a sip of the cocktails the others ordered. To my surprise, I liked the Broken Garden Tools. Though it wasn't particularly sweet it was also not super sour/tart and it was refreshing. I *could* have ordered that one, but I never would have known it from the description. I didn't like any of the others I tasted, but I can't remember what those were. Since I don't like whisky and I prefer sweet drinks, don't take this to mean that they don't have good drinks - the others enjoyed theirs, they just weren't to MY taste. Of the other dishes, I liked the cabbage that was on my friend's duck plate (I didn't try the duck). The asparagus was fine. The shrimp and potatoes was ok but not as good as I'd hoped for. And honestly, I didn't love the KFC. It didn't seem to be twice-fried and super crispy like KFC should be, and the sauce to me wasn't balanced between the sweet and spicy flavors I prefer. However, my husband liked it very well. The only other thing I'd caution is to double check ingredients. There was a dish ordered (I can't remember which now, some kind of bread maybe, but not listed as a bruschetta) that said it contained rosemary among other things but did not list basil. We saw no rosemary at all, but a lot of basil, which I can't eat. So I didn't have any. The others shared it. I would have been more disappointed had it been my selection. My friend noted that the server did not ask us about any food allergies, which, if your menu doesn't accurately list its contents, is problematic. Fortunately I know what basil looks like so no harm done. All in all, I would return, get lots of croquettes, order a Broken Garden Tools, and maybe try some other things we didn't get to. But I'd double check all the ingredients.

It was not busy and we didn't have to wait for a table which is a plus. I ordered smoked turkey, with salad and sweet potato fries and a pg13 which was ginger beer, mint and I added a shot of vodka. When our food came out I had to question what was going on with the sweet potato fries because they had a thick coating and looked beer battered, not at all indicated on the menu. I asked the server, Kelsey W., and she paused and said yea I don't know for sure but if you can't have gluten I wouldn't eat them. I was annoyed at the situation and just took them off my plate but I understand this can happen. The server seemed annoyed and goes on to blame me and says I should have told her. Now will say I did have to go through the salad ingredients and pick most of them out, she didn't ask me about allergies either. And it's not common to add a beer batter coating to sweet potato fries without indicating it in the menu. The menu should be updated asap for other guests. Any other server would apologize for the situation and ask how they can make it better and not blame for a customer for a misunderstanding. After that I realized there was an extra sauce on the tray, I asked her to check with the kitchen to see what was in it, is it safe for me to eat? She came back 15 minutes later and said she will check and have an answer soon. It was not busy, this was not acceptable. Again clearly not showing any help for your guest with a food issue. This showed me she had zero concern or care about this or trying to smooth it over. Finally, towards the end of the meal I realized my water was leaking, had thought it was condensation as it was hot out. My glass, water cup had a huge crack in it. You would have hoped that someone would have seen it before serving it to someone. Clearly a safety issue. I hope I didn't ingest glass. I handed it back to our server and told her this glass needed to be tossed in the trash. Her response was another blank look, she didn't really care and just gave me another shallow I'm sorry. The rest of my meal was tasty and it was a large portion. Everyone else at my table had nice looking food and was happy with it. I will personally not come back here. District 37- it wouldn't hurt to update your menu and add what is gluten safe and indicate what kind of coating is on your sweet potato fries because a lot of people who choose these have special dietary needs. You should also train your staff to help bring up allergy issues with your guests and have more empathy if an issue arises. If this is something a server isn't able to work on they might consider an alternate employment opportunity.

The cashier was a little gruff, but the woman running back and forth between the kitchen and the front had a better business sense about keeping customers happy. She didn't want me to wait long, so I think she rushed the kitchen a little bit, which I appreciated, but also may have led to some of the demerits on the food I mention below. I was happy to see one dish I ordered, the pig intestine with fish, on their picture board above the cash registers. That gave me confidence that they knew what they were doing and it was the best dish by far out of the three I ordered. The intestine was fresh and flavorful, the spice level was high, but also not too salty. It was a lot of food. Only drawback here was the fish (tilapia?) seemed to be heavy on the breading. The other two dishes were disappointing. Penang curry with pork had good vegetables, but the sauce had too little flavor since they went too heavy on the coconut milk. The pork seemed like chicken, not pork. Way too soft and flavorless. The Singapore Chow Mei Fun had good noodles and veggies. But the curry powder was not blended in. Eating it, I could still feel it in powder form. It was also far too oily. Overall, I think they had a lot of options but next time I'd steer more towards classic Chinese, since that seems to be what they do well. I hope next time the flavors will be stronger and blended better (i.e. powders actually stirred in). I'm willing to give them another chance, since they do have a lot of dishes I like. Last note: the online ordering service does not indicate that dishes come with rice. I thought they would have rice by default, but then when I added the penang curry to my cart, it asked whether I wanted rice or noodles or something else. So that made me think I had to order rice separately, which meant I had twice as much rice as I needed. It also said "quart of white rice" was sold out, but "pint of white rice" was not, yet the rice that came with my meal came in a quart container.

Excellent service!…read more From the moment we walked in we were greeted and welcomed heartily. We were the only customers and literally had this place to ourselves the entire time. Made for a 5 star private dining type experience that although I appreciated, I couldn't quite understand as the food was magnificent. If you're looking for a great meal that won't leave you heavy and weighed down, this is it! I had the lasagna because I was told by the chef and the friendly waiter that it was fresh hand made pasta and didn't use ricotta cheese. A total winner for me (not a ricotta fan). It was delicious! Melted in my mouth. Buttery, velvet-like texture to the pasta makingit delightfully delicate. Nice balance of sauce and cheese. Meats had a great flavor. I didn't like I had to order a full appetizer size salad because they didnt offer side salads, but the salad was good as well. My birthday guest ordered the NY Strip steak of which I took a taste. It was FULL of flavor and cooked as ordered. Tender and everything you'd hope for in a steak entree. The mashed potatoes were another story. Lacked flavor and I don't care for the chunky mashed potatoes. I like my mashed thick, but creamy, buttery, and seasoned. I do not recommend them. This review is a 5 due to service and both main's being excellent. The chef honored the birthday boy with a complimentary homemade tiramasu that was airy, slightly sweet, great textures of crunch on top, moose in the middle, and spongyness on bottom. The fruit as garnish paired well, but as we shared the slice it made me wonder "if this is REAL, fresh made tiramasu, I have no idea what "tiramasu" I've been eating all these years." So good! I had no idea why this place was empty at 3pm on a Saturday, but my guess is they are new. Once the word is out I'm sure business will pick up. At least I hope, because I'd love to bring my son back to try so he can compare to his culinary experience in Italy. The restaurant itself was very clean...including the bathroom. My daiare wasn't fond of the hard wooden chairs. The ambiance is more bright, sophisticated modern than dark, tavern-esque as the name may suggest. Check them out and tell Chef Stephen I sent you

We were seated on…read morethe patio and after several minutes, served water by a staff member who admitted he was not our server for the evening. Christopher arrived, shared a very loud video to attempt to entice us to order the specials; however, several were not available. We had browsed the menu ahead of time and had our choices in mind. We also advised we were hoping to make the show at Revolver Records, if that wasn't too much of an issue for the kitchen staff. My companion ordered the salmon, broccoli, and rice while I ordered the smoked salmon tagliatelle. My companion was pleased with her entree even though her rice was a ridiculous amount of chunky skin-on potatoes and she was not informed that there was a menu change, while I was disappointed at the lack of salmon in the dish. A cute rosette on top with a few flakes scattered throughout does not make for a salmon dish. Christopher was friendly and helped my companion with a replacement napkin (from the waist band of his apron) when hers blew off her lap and onto the sidewalk. Finally, we waited quite some time for the bill, then for the bill to be processed. The reatrooms are gender neutral and adequately lit and stocked; however, patrons are required to climb a set of stairs to reach the restrooms. Other patrons that we conversed with during our meal were still on the patio when we left the jazz show next door and when we asked how dessert was, that we mught be coming back from "round two", they said not to bother because most of the desserts were out of stock. Convenient for our plans but sadly nothing special to write home about. If I were to return, I'd ask for the salmon & broccoli entree and confirm the starch was lemon rice per the menu.
