If you have back issues, I suggest letting them know because they might randomly assign you a seat where you have to bend over to eat. The waiters are quick and efficient and the food came out reasonably. The Banh mi Chao came with steak bites, pate, a meatball, pork roll slices, two sunny side up eggs, hotlinks, cheese and onions and cilantro as garnish. I loved almost everything about this dish. It was super flavorful, the meat was soft, and everything paired well with the crispy baguette. The only thing that threw me off was the hot link because traditionally Vietnamese food doesn't have hot link sausages, so i thought that was kinda weird. The ribeye were sliced thin, stir fried and cooked to a medium rare. Which finished cooking from the residual heat. The meat was very tender and well marinated slightly sweet but not overpowering. It had a nice variety of meat, the taste is all balance, but nothing stood out. The sauce was a bit oily but had a nice mellow flavor. It's a standard dish can't go wrong with ordering. Bánh MI Bo Kho (2.5/5) The meat was very tender. But I was not a fan of the soup, it was too much on the sweet side instead of savory for me. This new Vietnamese restaurant has been very popular on social media and it is reflected by how busy it gets there. I went during the weekend with a party of 3. We ended up waiting about 45 minutes to get seated. I didn't mind the wait too much since I knew it would be busy. The food was delicious and worth the visit. I liked that they had a variety of dishes and drinks to try. The pandan milk drink wasn't what I expected it to be though. It seems like they just put pandan extract/syrup at the bottom with milk. A little sweet for my taste but not too bad. Although the meal was good, I was disappointed in the service. My boyfriend had received his meal about 5 minutes after placing the order but my father and I didn't get ours until 40 minutes after that. I always pass by this restaurant when I go to grand Century with my family, but I finally got to try it and the food were very vibrant, colorful and delicious! This was at 7 PM, but I really wanted to try their a coffee so we got a regular and a one in which we tried a little bit tasted really well and saved it for the next day and it was still really good. Strong taste of coffee is the win! I mostly came for the fried Taro cakes (bánh bột chiên) 9/10. It was one of my favorite snack growing up and they did it correctly with the really yummy sauce. I love that. They topped it off with papaya salad! Then my friend wanted to try their spring rolls sampler 7/10, and the beef stew (bo kho) 8/10. Although these are pretty decent, I still prefer my mom's cooking. When we were at the restaurant, the owner happened to be there and recommend we try the make it yourself spring roll platter (bún chả Hà Nội) 7.5/10, which is a fan favorite in Hanoi, Vietnam. My friends and I weren't a fan of the sauce and the intestine but I know my family would've loved it! We also tried their mixed rice paper dish (bánh tráng trộn) 9/10 and I'm so used to eating this out of a plastic bag, but having it on a plate - the color made it mouthwatering. I love their use of kumquat instead of big limes, and a bit of basil and peanut was a nice touch. The service was 10/10. The workers were attentive and dressed in cute Vietnamese outfits. Heard about this place through Instagram and the food looked good, so I decided to give it a try. In comparison to the rest of Grand Century Mall, Buon Me Cafe seemed more bright and lively (though this doesn't say much considering the fact that it was the only area that seemed to have a good chunk of people as well as the fact that most of the other food places seemed closed). Service was friendly enough, and there was also wifi. We decided to get the Shaking Beef with Garlic Noodles alongside the Banh Mi Chao and a Soursop Smoothie, which came with a little salad and bread. My favorite was definitely the shaking beef with garlic noodles - it hits the perfect flavor spots with impeccable texture. The Banh Mi Chao was good too, but I strongly preferred the noodles. The Soursop Smoothie was good as well, and the salad was easy to get through. My only complaint was that after eating a good chunk of the salad, we noticed a small fly floating underneath it. I'm not sure if the fly had snuck its way in but considering that it was right at the bottom of the salad I suspect that it was likely there the whole time. This would normally have a stronger influence on my experience here, but since the food was enjoyable and neither of us got sick as a result of the fly's presence I'm willing to let them off and assume this was a one time thing. Seating are mixed as well. There's traditional tables that differed in sizes, there's small Vietnamese style tables and then like a living roomish bench and table. A bit awkward as some tables were a bit small for 4-6 people but that's just the vibes of emulating what Vietnam would be like. Service is quick and tentative. There are lot of them walking around so it is not that hard to get their attention if you need to. Food was decent-okay for the most part. Xio Man Thap Cam / Sticky Purple Rice with Assorted Meats ($14.95) This was not bad at all and was quiet filling. The purple sticky rice with fried shallots and green onions had good aromatics and flavor. The assorted meats were, pork floss, pork meatloaf, 2 thinly sliced chinese sausage, roasted pork, 2 boiled quail eggs and pork pate. I do wished that they gave like a bowl of soup as the dish is really dry. Bun Cha Ha Noi - Hanoi Style with Grilled Pork (17.95) It took a long time for this dish to come out and unfortunately was not really worth the wait. Everyone at the table was close to being done until the dish came out. While the sauce/broth that came with the meat had good umami flavor. It did help the meat as it was pretty dry. We noted some tables looked like they had more noodles than ours so that was a bummer as well. Me Hu Tieu Dac Biet Kho - Bun Me Special Rice Noodle Dry Version (18.95) This was a big bowl of rice noodles with assorted meats, fish balls and a bowl of soup with a big pork bone. I've gone here several times and all the dishes I've tried are delicious. The best item is the crispy nem rolls!! I always get it here. Not overly sweet, but just right! :) We ordered some drinks and bahn mis to go. I like how they offer small and large sizes for the bahn mis, where the small is the perfect snack size. You can add or delete bahn mi fillings through the to-go order kiosk that was very easy to use. The char siu bahn mi I had was okay in terms of flavor. The atmosphere and decor here is great, as they have a lot of old traditional Vietnamese decor and items. It's a great place to get a drink and chill. I got the 51A, Sua Sam Dua (Pandan Fresh Milk). It was ok, the pandan flavor is weak. Not sure how "fresh" the milk is as it tasted like regular grocery store bottled milk. Just felt like I was drinking milk. They also serve food, however we didn't order any. Service was friendly. You can order a drink or dine in, however it was confusing since there is no host stand. We were standing looking at the menu, and a staff member asked us "how many people?", and proceeded to seat us at a table. Heard about Buon Me from a foodie friend - from what I know, it's a relatively newer restaurant in the Lion Plaza. We absolutely over-ordered for 3 people on our first visit, getting their signature Wagyu Bo Ne, wonton noodle soup, crispy calamari, popiah (rolls) and hu tieu (dry noodles with broth on side). Maybe I was just super hungry but everything just SLAPPED. The hu tieu sauce was so good I had to ask for a refill of just the thin egg noodles to sop the sauce up. The wontons were generously filled with shrimp and pork - very reminiscent of the Cantonese style of preparation. I quite liked the soft and crispy bread that came with the Bo Ne as well - perfect for mopping up as much pate as possible. We were in the area and I was craving for some dry noodles. I recall there was a noodle place in the Vietnam town so we went there only to find out it only takes cash. I am not a cash person unfortunately. So we walked around and noticed this place which looked very happening. We came in from the door in the mall and was informed to go through the door from the outside in the front of the mall entry in order to put our name on the waiting list. Issue 1: I got the text saying our table was ready so approached the lady calling out in Vietnamese. I do not speak Vietnamese... so I waved my phone to get her attention but she kind of looked past me. Finally I got her attention and we were led to a small table. Well we were moved in 5 minutes to another table as we were told the other was bigger... no they are the same size just at a different spot. Good thing there were photos on the menu for some of the dishes. I was able to get my dry noodles. We also got a couple of appetizers: the server recommended the sausage rolls, and crispy squid. For drink we got a sweet dessert drink. The noodle was good 4.5 star, and the soup on the side has a nice piece of rib in it. The soup was lighter than expected... The rolls were less than desirable with the sausage bit too tough to bite through. The squid was late to arrive although it should have been a snack/appetizer. We had to wave down our server to check on it when we finished most of the food. It was VERY greasy and bland. The drink was decent and not too sweet but the coconut pieces inside tasted old and tough. But I am tolerating it for the longans in there. It was very noisy and the servers were all in a rush. The drink station was very busy too . Guess I should start carrying cash as there was a discount if paying by cash... Overall the dry noodles satisfied my craving. Will I come back to this place? Dined in on a weekend afternoon when it was busy and a weekday evening when it was not so busy. The service was generally attentive, surprisingly less attentive when it was slower, but very thoughtful and quick service. Overall experience was great. The atmosphere was casual, plenty of seating inside and some low tables and chairs that gave a really relaxed feel. I liked that the decor had many touches of how it would be like dining in Vietnam, along with some other pieces that highlight Vietnamese culture. A little pricey for Vietnamese food fare, but what can you do. To recommend: #8 Stir fried corn 8.95 - it's exactly as advertised and really tasty. #5 Crispy Squid 10.95 - Breading wasn't too thick, wasn't falling apart, and the squid itself had a great cook. It wasn't overly chewy and the flavor was satisfying. #13 Mixed Rice paper 16.95 - okay, this had a good flavor too, but it was so damn spicyyyyy. My friend said the spice level was fine, but my lips were numb after one bite. I liked the peanuts and jerky in it. #19 4 grilled rolls sampler 14.95 - worth it. It came with four sauces and it all tasted great. Perfect choice for a sharing, snacking dish. #36 Bún Chả Hà Nội 17.95 - I love these types of vermicelli dishes and having fresh greens to tear up in my dish. It was refreshing and not too heavy. It's not an app, but I recommend ordering this to share. #26 Bánh Mì Chảo Bò Lúc Lắc 20.95 - soooo good and filling. It also came with what looked like a laughing cow cheese wedge and that really added to the flavor, but be sure to know this is a heavy dish. I mean it also came with a viet baguette. keep it for yourself. #37 Com Bò Lúc Lắc 21.95 - comes with beef, rice options (or garlic noodles), lettuce and tomato. It's very classic, no complaints on taste, but it didn't seem filling for my friend. Things that were okay: the drinks They were very meh, and the drinks were what I was looking forward to the most. Yelp suggested this place had it, and we'd always wanted to try this place after seeing the pics on yelp, as well as the non pho Vietnamese food options, so we were excited to check it out. Unfortunately, our server broke the news to us that they don't serve bánh mì after 4 p.m., which was a letdown. I'm not sure why some restaurants cut off certain menu items after a specific time--especially something like bánh mì that doesn't seem to require special prep or equipment (or maybe I'm wrong about this)?. Maybe it's to support a time specific dinner vibe? That aside, the restaurant's traditional decor was charming. Despite a festival or farmer's market going on outside, we were seated fairly quickly. There's even a small traditional stand inside where one of the staff members was preparing food, adding to the Now onto the food: - #3. This was my first time trying out this place, and sadly it didn't meet expectations. We ordered the Bánh Mì Chảo, but the beef was so tough it was nearly impossible to chew--definitely not ribeye as the menu described. The Bột Chiên was also undercooked and not crispy at all. Service was another letdown. When our table asked the waitress for a couple more minutes to decide, she gave us attitude. Then when we were finally ready to order, she told us "đợi chút" (wait a minute) in a cold, unfriendly tone. Overall, both the food and service left a bad taste. I won't be coming back. read more

I think the food here is okay, my banh mi chao was nothing too special. It was a bit on the saltier side but the bread was fresh and crunchy. The beef noodles were bland, but did have a really smokey flavor. I enjoyed their bot chien, it was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. read more

Low ratings do not deter me from Viet or Chinese Restos. It motivates me to visit. Is it as bad as some people say it is? I draw the line at visiting the worst rated AZN buffets tho unless a detox is goals. Anywho, a 3 star rating for a Viet resto in E Man Jose is basically equivalent to 4+ stars in SF and the mixed reviews are usually due to service. Taking over Paloma Café, Buôn Mê Café is a new Viet Restaurant & Café that opened in mid-August 2024. Staff said, they're related to Dzui Cakes. They're open for takeout, delivery, indoor dining, and outdoor dining. Rezzies accepted on their website. Arrived on a Saturday at 10:45 am and waited 5 minutes for an outdoor table. Put your name on the clipboard (at front door). M E N U Vietnamese cuisine - extensive menu (no phở), their specialties are Saigon street food and Viet coffee drinks. No alkie. D R I N K * Đào Cam Sả: Peach Orange Lemongrass ($6.95) Not my drink but friend liked. It looked exactly like the menu pic, served with a stalk of lemongrass. F O O D * #1 Bột Chiên: Fried Rice Flour Cake ($13.95) // 3 Stars: https://tinyurl.com/3dmf4ybe A Chinese-influenced dish, the rice flour cakes are pan-fried then eggs are poured on top creating an omelet that's served with a tangy sauce. The filet mignon was tender (medium temp) but lost its seared crust in the broth and didn't taste like bò lúc lắc. Instead of lạp xưởng (Chinese sausage), they use mildly spicy andouille sausage, an interesting twist. Not a fan of soupy Bánh Mì Chảo/Bò Né and IMO, you can find better at Viet Town next door and at Lion Plaza. S E R V I C E Staff was friendly, efficient, and there when we needed to flag them down. A lady came around with fresh water (served in plastic cups) and food came out quickly for how busy there were. We were in/out in 45 minutes. Go to the counter to pay when you're done eating. There's a discount if you pay cash (3-4%). A M B I A N C E Great remodel, Buôn Mê Cafe is modern with vintage aesthetics and touches. Spacious resto with several dining areas and a lounge area, accommodating over 170 people. The front patio has about 10-12 tables (mostly shaded). P A R K I N G Congested parking lot on the weekends. Overall, while there were some hits and misses, we enjoyed our meal at Buôn Mê Cafe and didn't have a bad experience like others. Buôn Mê Cafe in San Jose is a gem in Vietnam Town--the moment you walk in, you're transported to Vietnam. The interior is filled with vintage decor and traditional Vietnamese decor that give it such an authentic vibe. Even the staff wear cute Vietnamese outfits, and they were super attentive throughout our visit! The menu offers a great mix of Vietnamese street food and traditional dishes, so there's something for everyone. The variety of drinks also amaze me. My favorite is the avocado coconut smoothie. My favorite dish is Egg, Pork Roll, Meatball, Sausage, Pâté & Wagyu Steak with Baguette. which is rich and satisfying read more
