We stayed across the street from here and we were looking for a bite to eat for lunch after we arrived in astoria. The business is located on the main strip so parking could be difficult. The inside is a nice size, and there are a few tables out front. We decided to go with the salmon BLT, which was a wild salmon fillet, pepper bacon, lettuce, tomato, bun, tarter sauce, pickle for $18 and shrimp cocktail for $12. Also, I got a delicious drink. i think a margarita if I remember correctly! The shrimp were some of the best shrimp I've ever had in my life!! The salmon BLT is a must get, it was absolutely out of this world!!! Highly highly would recommend both of these dishes

Bouy cream ale is by far one of my favorite beers so why were in town we had to stop! Now I know the old location had a collapse which we got to see on the train ride. The new location is very open, well lite and very clean. Over all the food was good but felt a tad overpriced. The food did come out fast though and was delicious. The only weird thing I have to say is the staff was weird about my choice of beer. They only have it in the can which was fine as I was willing to just have them put it in the glass. I didn't ask for recommendation nor was I indecisive but they did try to persuaded me multiple times to try a different beer. Even when I said I was good with the cream ale they still asked another two times. Other than that staff was super friendly. We did come in the summer and one a Friday night so it was a tad busy .

Decent place, we had lunch here while visiting Astoria and checking out the Goonies Jail and house. Our twin 8 year old boys had the hamburger and PB&J which both come with chips, my wife had the Fish-Wich and I had the Salmon BLT with the Bouy IPA ( which was pretty good), we had curly fries with our sandwiches which was an extra $2 per order, it's not typical restaurant, you go to the counter to order and then a server/expediter brings out your food, refills you have to go up to the counter and they do not have fountain soft drinks it's all in cans or bottles except the iced tea. They have lots of menu options and clean bathrooms, service was good.

This was our second stop in Astoria. We did not order any food, just shared a flight. I really liked the location, clean and welcoming. The bartender was helpful and quick to pour our flight. I also really like their branding and labels. The beer was good although I would have liked some darker options.

Brewery number 3 out of 14. We hit 4 total out of the 14 breweries today on Oregon's North Coast Craft Beer Trail. Quality/Quantity - Very limited menu, and they sell out. We only got clam chowder, which was very good! It was thick, flavorful, and creamy. Plus they gave generous amounts of clam. We got a beer flight: NV Red Pacific Pale Ale Big Brock Hunter - Hellesbock Wally's Tonic - Vienna Lager Atmosphere - Indoor/outdoor seating with one fire pit. Beautiful views of the water. We were able to see and hear seals from the dock. Inside the business, there was a portion of the floor made of glass so you are able to see the water and docks under the building. Under construction. A 90+ year old cannery being converted to a brewery. Kid friendly, dogs welcomed on the patio. Service - Counter service. Price - $20 + tip. Each tasting beer is $3. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success.

Accidentally came to this one instead of the waterfront tasting room, but since we were in a hurry we plopped down and stayed put. Minus one for no TV but I can live with it. Plus one for different size beer options. Beer (Red Ale) was pretty good. We just split the Chowder and Caesar. Thick variation of chowder and standard caesar.

A small three piece for $16 dollar plus $4 dollar for bowl of chowder (in my opinion , not worth it at all just get the chowder to go !!!)

Find another spot or just order to go if you just really need to eat!!! We Felt isolated and treated differently possibly because of our skin color :( and no lie that's how my family felt like when left that place We were the only Asians in that restaurant who came to visit and almost all of them were caucasians. We have nothing against any colors but we really felt unwelcome and not to mentioned was treated very awkwardly. The lady who helped us sat us down was quite nice but the rest of the server and whoever else helped us that day passed us around like we were nothing. We originally have a lady server who helped us aggressively that day and you can tell from her face that we are not welcomed at all. She looked irritated or somehow aggravated that we are even there. Mind you we came before the rushed of people and it's not even dinner yet we were there around 3pm ordered right away and almost an hour from the order there were no signs of any check ups or anyone. We had to ask for ourselves what's going on and so the lady that probably helped us said you got a new server and us here thinking maybe she's leaving for the day , but nope looked like she switched with someone in the bar behind us so it felt like she didn't even want to serve us. She just mentioned your new server is the tall guy with a hat and didn't even tell us their name. On top of waiting forever I approached her asking what's the update in our order because we looked stupid staring at each other for that long and have to pretty much do things in order to get served. The lady even argued with us that my cousin ordered a bowl of chowder when she completely told the server when she was repeating our order that she want to just have it as an add on and forget the bowl because it was much more cost effective that way. She just disregarded us and walked away and just said I'll go and removed it and specifically made us feel like we're in the wrong and that she was doing us a favor which she was not even apologetic for misunderstanding my visitor who just came from Maui and my cousin whose first time going to Oregon so this was such a very bad experience. On top of that, after the lady who switched us with another server messed up our order, so the new guy who doesn't want to provide their name just says I don't know I'll bring the original server and it was a whole mess I tell ya (why couldn't just helped us in the first place instead of switching) maybe she couldn't handle serving the Asian brown colored (this is from our experience that day and didn't say she a racist but she did made us feel that way). She avoided us like a plague . We remained calmed and even still left tip even after being treated so badly and when we're just getting up the chair and leaving.....the last server who helped us jokingly ask if anyone needs a job that they are hiring and repeated himself saying that. Is that even a joke or was he formal because we felt insulted like we need to do their job for them like seriously we usually don't complain about restaurant, but I did give them one star for their clam chowder at least . Overall, we are never ever coming back nor referring/ suggesting this place to anyone. They still overcharged us and according to my bestfriend who ordered the Rosemary drink it was watered down and taste nothing like it should be. Quite disappointed really , save yourself and your family from going here and just find another place. Thank you.

Great beer! Tried 3 different ones. The DIPA is my favorite. Clam chowder was cold, but fish and chips were good. Add the coleslaw- very good. Dog friendly out front as well.

We stopped in to this location...love the czech lager and the did have a building collapse a few years ago. We saw that they were operational on their site but when we got there the place was closed and fenced off. There was a notice that they had a restaurant at another location...but we just wanted beer and merch. Disappointed but can't down grade them due to the devastating disaster and loss of real-estate. Just wishing that all was explained a bit better. We will be back.

Great spot for a relaxing lunch. We went on a Saturday at noon, the vibe was bright and clean, friendly service and delicious food. I had the Shrimp Bocadillo and it was perfect. The menu is great for folks with food restrictions, the dairy free options were plentiful. Family friendly and fun location, I would highly recommend this place!

Buoy brews a much wider selection than what you find in stores. Do yourself a favor and stop in. I had the decapitator for lunch and had a nice nap on the way back to Portland. I don't recall the details on the beer other than it was aged in bourbon barrels. That's always a clue it's going to be good. The food selection was limited, but good. I'd rather have a few good options than a bunch of poorly executed crap. As always, the views were amazing. We even saw a sea lion through the floor.

Fish and chips were great even if the portions of fish were a little light for the price. Salad with shrimp got high marks as well. Since I lean towards German style biers and there were several to choose from I obviously had to order a flight! Each one was quite drinkable maybe rating almost 4 of 5. Cool facility and definitely worth trying. read more

I had two taprooms on my list for Astoria: another one and Buoy. I went to the other one first because that's just how it happened but I'm glad I did because I thought Buoy came out ahead in the end. Everything I tried was solid and crisp with clean notes. I was very excited to see multiple German styles (2 different pilsners, dunkel, helles, vienna lager) done well. I'm a sucker for a red ale and theirs is near perfect in my view. I enjoyed both taproom visits and they are very different breweries. Maybe Buoy benefited from me not having any real expectations going in, but I was impressed all around. If you're a hophead Buoy is definitely a good stop! read more

This place just makes me want to say YEEEE BUOOOYEEEE!! Haha, I can't stop saying the name of this place like that; it's gotten me all excited. First off, the atmosphere is awesome. It's huge and seems like it was an old warehouse or some type of marine building. There is a glass floor near the entrance of the restaurant once inside where sea lions were sleeping below! HAH! On to the drinks.. I had a oatmeal stout - super smooth and delicious. The boy had the fresh hopped session ale - My Own Private Idaho. Really great. Our waitress was FANTASTIC and she brought every hot sauce we could ever imagine for our delicious 6 oysters for $10. They were presented so incredibly beautifully on soup spoons on a bed of blue salt. Some oysters were SO huge I had to have them in two bites! Hit the spot as we were feeling pretty lethargic from some greasy meals this past weekend.. However.. that didn't stop us from getting Rockfish and Chips! Wow, what a taste of fishy heaven! Rockfish is definitely firmer and more "fishy" in taste, but so flavourful. The fries were really great as well. I saw some people commenting that it wasn't worth the price, but maybe people should order really unique items they can't find anywhere else? Oysters are always a must in a coastal city, but the rockfish and chips for me personally we unheard of so I definitely felt the $15 was worth it. Everything was really reasonable to us. I would definitely come by again in the day time. They were pretty much closed when we arrived but they welcomed us in with open arms and even let us continue to take our time while they cleaned up. read more

Great beer but don't expect seafood menu (very limited food choices). Enjoyed the Another IPA (tropical). Service good, view incredible. Salmon burger...hmm ok? Don't order shrimp cocktail...smallest shrimp I've not seen in my life ( where's Waldo the shrimp hunt). Beer good. read more

came here to try out some Astoria clam chowder. the place had just opened and there was plenty of seating. the whole food hub area is super cute and casual. we got 2 bowls of clam chowder and a half dozen oyster shooters. the oysters are HUGE. it was so yummy, I wish I had more room in my stomach so I could've gotten a full dozen! i would definitely come back! read more

The place was a little hard to find- But so glad I did. Super friendly service and super duper yummy food. Had the rockfish fried and was one of the best fried fish I've had. Cheese curds were beer battered and done right. The salad was so fresh, I think they have a garden outback. My Hubbie had the beer flight and really enjoyed the ipa. The staff keep it super clean inside and they have ac. There is also outside seating along the main drag to people watch... Buoy beer is doing it right. When in Astoria- go here. read more

Buoy makes some of the best beer in the PNW, particularly their dark beers. I love their baltic porter particularly. This space is nice, a little generic but comfortable. The food here is really tasty though, a cut above other breweries. The smoked fish was next level, super smoky with a bit of campfire in it. read more

Love this place! Right on the water with great views. I wish it had been warm enough to sit outside. IPA omission is an excellent gluten free beer. We also had the cheesecake with Marionberry sauce. It was a treat. We could hear the sea lions but they remained shy. That is my only regret is not seeing them. read more

Came here for a beer with a view and the spot did not disappoint!! The view was great and it was an ideal location on the way down to Cannon Beach. Traveling with pups can be tough to find a cool spot with outdoor seating, but there were plenty of options to sit outdoors and look across the Oregon Washington border (and exquisite bridge). I got the regular IPA and a Red Ale and both were great! I also got the chips and guac and was a bit disappointed the guac was served in one of those self serve 2oz kind of packages one might find at a Costco. Overall they were fine though and the garden sunchips were nice. Enjoyed stopping by here and will stop again next time I'm rolling though Astoria! read more

We had the cheese curds with dipping sauces, Caesar salad and clam chowder. We also had a taster of some of their beers. Overall everything was okay but not great. The cheese curds were by far the best part of the meal. Lightly breaded and fried so the flavor of the cheese came through. We got the dipping sauces which were fun to try. The Caesar salad tasted fresh but was very lightly dressed with no side lemon, no Parmesan and with only three tiny croutons it left us disappointed. Their famous chowder had good flavor but was VERY thick and lukewarm which makes we think it had been in the soup warmer for way too long. The service was kinda like the food, okay but not great. The space doesn't compare to the original location but it's nice and clean. read more

We had such a good time at Buoy Beer! We were visiting family in the Portland area and they told us that we had to try out Buoy. Often when you go to a brewery, you are in some office park or by warehouses...certainly not on the waterfront with a killer view. But that is where Buoy is--right on the water where you can eat and drink outside and watch the ships go by. When you walk in, there is a glass floor in the waiting area right above where the Sea Lions lay and you can watch them. We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. It was cold and snowy, so no outdoor seating for us that day. We waited about 15 minutes for a table for six people. The brewery is very kid friendly, so they had a great little kids menu and plenty of stuff to keep the kids busy while the adults sampled the beer. A lot of the items on the menu (adult and kid menus) can be made gluten-free, which was good since my nephew can't have gluten. I ordered the Harissa-Rubbed Halibut Collars and also a salad. Others at the table ordered the Rockfish and chips, NW Chicken Salad and the Buoy Clam Chowder. All were delicious. The clam chowder was just creamy goodness and a big bowl at that. The Rockfish and chips were a generous portion. The NW Chicken Salad had chicken thigh on it and not the usual chicken breast. We had a fun time at Buoy. The service was good. The beer was great (so I am told). The food was delicious. The view....killer! read more

It was a longline and 45 mins waiting list around 7pm on Sunday. But quickly we got a nice view of windows side table. *We tried samplers to taste 6 different beers. 6 lists: 1.Beaver State 2.BUOY Light 3. Oatmeal state 4.NW Red 5. Czech 6. Single HOP I liked 1 & 2 *And we ordered cup of BUOY clam chowder. I always love to eat a clam chowder. It was creamy rich taste and delicious. *WILLAPA BAY STEAMER CLAMS 1 1/2 pounds local Manila clams with garlic butter, white wine lemon, thyme .... little salty to deep garlic bread *ROCKFISH & CHIPS* Buoy Beer tempura, house-made tartar sauce and lemon, with fries Thick and good size of fish & chips. I added black vinegar and tartar sauce....made me big smiles **House Specially *Pan-Fried Petrale Sole was sold out! So I want to try it next time Services are great, foods are good & nice views!!! Buoy has the best GF fish/chips AND GF cheese curds on the Oregon coast! Food is incredible... prices are way too high though ($40 for both of those). Wish I could go more often, just too expensive. read more

Late lunch, I ordered fried oysters with cup of clam chowder. Oysters tasted fresh, it is grease, good with tarter sauce. Clam chowder was good, creamy, good amount of clams in cup portion, not salty. My friend ordered chicken sandwich, she did not like her order, too much bread, meat and she said too much bread. read more

Tourist Trap. God damm it. I love their Czech Pilsner. It the only Pilsner that has any flavor. Wait for a parking spot. Wait in line. Wait for a table. Wait for a beer. Wait to order. Wait for the food. HURRY UP AND WAIT. And it's off season. They had a special that was very interesting. Baked nori salmon. I'm a sushi eater two or three times a week. This was a good combination and even natural to have salmon warped In nori and baked. After waiting, through my whole flight of beer, the plate came out. It look real good. The nori was moist and the salmon was cooked properly throughout. My first bite provided me with the taste of moldy fish. And YES miss waitress, I do know what moldy fish tastes like. "Maybe it is the combination of fish and nori made it taste that way", or "the sauce the chef put in it?" Listen! I have been eating sushi since my 3 year tour was in Japan in 87. I love fish and know when it is moldy. I did have a cup of clam chowder. It's ONLY a tiny bit better than Mo's. But Mo's totally potato soup with a hint of clam flavor. And it is still to fishy for the tourists. Their beer is starting to taste industrial. Many of the beers are starting to tase the same. This is what happens when a brewery starts to grow to fast. Nice location, some good beer, bad service and bad food, no extras. Only 1.5 from me. read more

Stopped by the temporary spot on a trip to the coast. Not as fun as the damaged building but still great food. Had the tuna salad sandwich and was really fresh. Not sure what they do to their fries but wish I could replicate it at home. Bloody Mary was great! read more

This was a neat brewery. Enjoyed an 8/10 beer flight. Would been better with at least one porter or stout to choose from. Great appetizers too. A solid pretzel with beer cheese and mustard and clam chowder. In a great location with lots of space. Great spot for watching sports without a sports bar feel. It's really nice. Just visiting from out of town but I would totally come back. read more

We were on a brewery journey, trying to visit the Astoria breweries. This was our 4th and it did not disappoint! My wife had a good Cream Ale and I had the Marionberry Cider. Both were good! Food was good. Solid menu with good variety. Not overwhelming but lots of things to choose. I had the salmon BLT which I picked because it was unique. And it was! Service was good, especially for counter service. We arrived during a surge, so it felt like food came out fair quick considering that. Ambiance is good. Rockfish fish and chips had no flavor. The tarter sauce was gross. The chowder was too rich and didn't have many clams. The only decent thing was the bouy IPA and my Chardonnay. Total bill was $60. Not cheap! Won't be going back for food. read more

If you have disabilities and a service dog... beware of this place. If you work here and a person identifies their dog two times as a service dog, mind your own damn business and consider checking the narrow minded assumptions you project outwardly. Thank you for reminding me that I am in fact alone in this world and for ruining my night. I have two invisiable disabilities and the only way I am able to get my support needs meet is by use of my dog. It's hard enough for me to enter inclosed spaces so when I walked in last night to order some food with the intention of sitting outside, i needed my dog. The look on the face of the woman who approached me told me right away that dogs were not welcome. My dog quickly alerted me to her unsafe behavior and she proceeded to speak over me and insert her knowledge on the law. Perhaps in the future you should considered that a disabled person with a dog is the most informed person on the law and that visible disabilities are not the only reason a person has a service dog. I sure hope y'all as a business and individuals are able to unpack your ableism before you go out of business for violating a persons ADA rights. read more

Highly recommend their Fish & Chips. We came in last (Sunday) night about 6pm & ordered our food(to go) & drinks. Love that we were able to enjoy our yummy dinner by an outdoor fire. My hubby also his german lager (just right, light enough) as he was worried about driving home after. Enjoyed my canned coconut water too. I am an unabashed Buoy fan. Few food establishments in Astoria have faced more adversity that Buoy in the past 4 years between COVID and then the collapse of their original beautiful space on the water and yet that rally and somehow forge ahead. They have IMO the best beer in town and their menu while much reduced from what it used to be is still great! But the best thing about Buoy is the people that work there! If you've been going for years you will see almost the same smiling faces year after year pouring your beers and serving your food. Nothing makes me happier about spending my duckets especially during these times of crazy inflation that spending it in places where people (at least appear) to actually enjoy working and feel supported by their employers. Came when it was pretty busy inside, so we had to settle for sitting outside - however, they have a fire pit (only one though) to cozy up to. Great views and fun opportunity to bond with others as you are huddle around the fire with your brews! Wish there were more outside heaters though overall! read more

We came here for a quick day trip with our dog and it did not disappoint. The outside pier is open seating and they provided water bowls for all the dogs which was nice. The beer was great (loved the pale ale) and the cocktails were amazing. The pomegranate margarita (not pictured) was an absolute must for people who don't like beer. It was very refreshing and I couldn't recommend it more. The sangria was fruity and delightful and I was perfect for a bright summer day. We ordered fish and chips with fries and the toasted tuna sandwich with chowder and they were both amazing. The tuna had so much flavor and the chowder was worth the upgraded $2. It was a lot of food and I'd love to go back. The view of the water on the pier, along with the friendly staff and doggos all around made this experience great. read more

It was apparently brewed out of Bend, Oregon but I am not sure if another brewery does this for them or not. The flavor highlights with this lager is a breadiness and somewhat of a clean aftertaste. It was fair but it kind of gave me the impression of a big corporate beer as I didn't see much personality to it in the flavor profile. But other than that I did enjoy my first visit to a Growler Guys and as the name implies you can bring in a Growler Bottle and select from the wide list of beers to enjoy.

I had the Nowhere Land Vienna Lager which I enjoyed quite a bit. It's flavor highlights were malty, hoppy and a nice toastiness to it. It's bright in color which is a usual trademark for these types of lagers. It was a pleasant return to Astoria Brewing and I wouldn't mind more return visits on future trips to the lovely town of Astoria.

I have a severe gluten intolerance, and had asked the server if we could get our cheese curds gluten free and she said it wouldn't be a problem. Another server had brought out our food and we ate for about 5-8 minuets before our original server came sprinting to our table to tell us that the cheese curds weren't gluten free, I tried to be as nice as possible while not worrying about the fact that I just ate something that makes me throw up uncontrollably, and the server went to get us a new order. Another server took over our table and when she brought our checks she didn't comp the food that could've easily sent me to the hospital and instead comped one $3 drink- a drink that wasn't even mine. The new server we had didn't really seem to care that I had ate something I am allergic too and kinda laughed about it at times which was really uncomfortable for me and the people I was with. Won't be returning ever as I don't want another close call with potentially going to the hospital. Not to mention I have been horribly sick since eating there, as a server myself when dietary restrictions are overlooked you offer all the help you can- no one took accountability for messing up a gluten free order besides our original server who was incredibly kind. Wish we had her the whole experience. She even left in the middle of her lunch to warn our table that we were given non gluten free curds and I am incredibly grateful that she made sure to leave early so I didn't eat the whole basket and for sure get sent to the hospital! read more

Stop what you are doing. Go directly to Buoy Brewing and order the Lomito sandwich. This needs to be a high priority for you. Do not drive through Astoria without ordering this sandwich. Don't cheat yourself, you deserve this. The Lomito is from Chile. There are versions from Argentina and Uruguay, but the Chilean version is the best. It's a braised or roasted spiced pork which is sliced and placed back in it's own gravy, similar to a French Dip, or Chicago Italian Beef, or Philadelphia Italian Roast Pork. This is served on round crusty bread with cheese, mayonnaise, thick tomato slices,and an entire crushed avocado. The salty and spicy gravy mixes with the avocado and mayo, the thick slices of pork melt in your mouth, the tomato is cold and fresh, the crispy bread crunches - it's just . . . it's the best food in Astoria. It's the best sandwich within a hundred miles, and I've had them all. The beer is great, the view is great, the atmosphere is great. Blah, blah, blah. You're hungry. Stop screwing around, take some initiative, and go eat the best sandwich on the Oregon Coast. That's the Lomito Sandwich at Buoy Brewing in Astoria, and don't you forget it. read more

No Longer Serving Food. It has been two years since the building collapsed into the Columbia River. I guess there is a little justice since DEQ has fined Buoy Beer $138,620 in fines for polluting the river. They are no longer going to serve food and are moving yet again. Hopefully the State will be strong and not allow them to wiggle out of their fines. They could have gotten a handle on the situation at the beginning by sending crews out to fish some of the debris....but no, they just let it go. Labels washed up for over a year on beaches. And the debris at the site continues to fall into the river. Really? Where is your sense of Oregon Pride? Our river mouth has little to no industry on it. Hopefully a lot more will go into letting people build on decrypted docks stacked with more weight then should be allowed. read more

A great addition to the Astoria beer community. The Pilsner is amazing and the Cream ale is pretty darn good too. You have to try the cheese curds and Poutine if it is on the special board. Seafood is always a great choice and so fresh! In fact, it is hard to go wrong with just about everything on the menu. Service is usually very good, sometimes a little too aloof. One thing we do not like too much is hostess seating in the Tap Room, it is fine in the dining room, but the Tap Room should be more casual. read more

The beer here is AMAZING the burgers are the best thing on the menu but can be hit or miss. This place would have 5 stars from the beer alone but the staff doesn't seem to communicate, there are too many people helping one table and none of them seem to be happy. For having the best beer in town and such an amazing location you'd think the staff would be friendlier. read more

We had to wait awhile for a seat but who cares the food was outstanding! Our server took great care of us and our table was right at the window with the ocean a few waves away. There is a " floor window" and we enjoyed two sea lions just kickin' it on their own private platform below. Highly recommend. read more

This place had pretty good food but the wait was incredibly long. If you have a high number on the waiting list, might as well leave. Someone had to wait 89 minutes to sit down and wait. The food was really good so that could be why there is always a long wait. read more

This is a great brewery!! Honestly, I don't remember the beer as much as I do the atmosphere. Right on the Columbia River front, I don't know if I've ever drank a more beautiful beer. Astoria didn't have much to offer but this brewery is a must!! read more

We were pleasantly surprised that what we expected to be brew pub food was quite good. There were also really good seafood selections. I liked the halibut and the oysters were delicious too. Watching the seals while eating was interesting too. read more

We LOOOOVE Buoy. Beautiful location, excellent beer and food, and lots of seating in the bar if the waterfront seats are full. We are slightly addicted to their fried Oysters. Total party in your mouth. read more

Excellent Oatmeal Stout, really excellent Bison Burger and perfect view of the water on a sunny day. I also saw the Sea Lion hanging out below the glass floor. Definitely recommend. read more
