Onion rings I ate quite a few before I took the photo they are that good!
Michelle H.

My first time there Makeen was very helpful he said I can build my own! I decided on The California burger came with guacamole, onions, lettuce, pickles, and tomato! Get the napkins ready it was messy but delicious! Ordered onion rings with house made ranch dressing! Some on the best onion I've ever had. The service was quick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Quiet and clean inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I go back to California if I'm in the area I will definitely go back!

This location of Burger Boss is in Tustin, in the same plaza as Stater Bros and Club Pilates. I never crave this place on the daily, but they make a great option when I observe a religious vegetarian day. They have a nice customized menu that is great for those with food restrictions like vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and so on. I used their kiosks to build my own order so I can check all the ingredients I add to my burger. I start with the Boss Your Burger ($9.95) with Black Bean patty as the protein. I've tried both the white brioche and wheat grain buns, and they're both fine. I might just do it as a salad bowl next time because the black bean patty falls apart really easily. For cheese I would get Pepper Jack ($1) or Sharp Cheddar ($1). For toppings I get baby spinach, green leaf lettuce, grilled onions, avocado ($2), and grilled mushrooms ($1.50). This burger tastes really complimentary with the Sweet Potato Fries ($6.25). [[HIGHLIGHT]]On my latest visit I initially wanted to get my burger togo but saw that they had 2 TVs and the Chiefs were playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Patrick Mahomes is my quarterback and Travis Kelce is my tight end in my fantasy league, so I stayed and enjoyed the first half of the game. Maybe this is a good spot for me cause I got a touchdown with Mahomes throwing to Kelce, double points!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good food and good vibes, but be careful with all of the customizations because they can add up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came by Burger Boss in Tustin around 4pm today for our first visit. The gentleman at the counter- I believe his name is Yousif (bald, possibly a manager or senior team member) was genuinely helpful and welcoming. Since it was our first time, he walked us through what's popular and gave solid recommendations on what to try. That part of the experience was great and much appreciated. Unfortunately, what we witnessed afterward was extremely concerning and completely overshadowed the visit. After placing our order, we saw the cook (Caucasian male with facial hair) handling raw beef patties with his bare hands and placing them on the grill. Immediately after, he used those same bare hands to grab burger buns and put them on the cooktop. This happened multiple times. What made it worse was that he then blew his nose into a paper towel right in front of the cooking area and proceeded to handle the buns again, without washing his hands or putting on gloves. At that point, I brought it up to the gentleman at the counter. He said he would take care of it, and I did see him speak to the cook. However, the cook's reaction, smiling and laughing was honestly surprising and concerning given the seriousness of the situation. It makes you wonder how many items were handled this way throughout his shift. That said, proper food safety and hygiene are extremely important, and this experience made it difficult to feel comfortable with the meal overall. We hope this can be addressed moving forward. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 solely because of the positive interaction with the Yousif, who seemed to be the only one taking the concern seriously. Cannot recommend this place and will not be returning.

In the mood for burgers and fries so we stopped by Burger Boss. Plenty of parking in the lot and plenty of seats in the restaurant. You place your orders at one of the 3 kiosks, and a speedy staff member will bring everything out to you once you get seated. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are TVs mounted on the walls playing sports, clean bathrooms, and a self-serve soda machine.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The reason I gave 3 stars was because the meat of my burger was SUPER SALTY. Way too salty to eat, but maybe because I ordered the Mighty Boss Meal (smaller burger with fries and a drink for $9.99). The Original Boss burger was fine ($10.95). The "Cajun fries" did not taste like Cajun seasoning but more like Italian seasoning with oregano.

Pretty good fast casual burger restaurant. Service was good, as well. I really enjoyed how my burger was not greasy, and portions sizes were reasonable for the pricing. Definitely recommend if you want a quick halal bite.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Delicious burger, quick service, and a fun and modern interior.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Burger boss advertises itself as a restaurant serving "natural" and grass-fed meat, and it delivers on its claims. The boss burger (9/10) is both tasty and less greasy compared to most other burger joints. The buns and veggies taste especially fresh as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our table was a bit sticky and needed some cleaning, but that is a minor complaint[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

So good! One of the best smash burgers I've had in a while, sweet potato fries were also pretty good. Service was quick and staff were nice.

Walked in ordered on the screen pretty easy to do. Reallly good burger, I'm not a fan of in an out I don't think it has enough flavor, but this burger beats them out by a mile. My order was out to me quickly and the servers were friendly. Will be coming back again

Boss Burger has become one of my go to spots, especially since it is so close to home. The service here is always great and the manager is super welcoming every time we come in. They are always accommodating, even when we forget to ask for a topping or want to add something last minute. The burger bowl is one of my favorites when I am trying to keep it lighter. The patties are thick, flavorful, and really high quality. Every time I get a burger here, it is on point. The flavor is consistently solid, and the ingredients are always fresh. They also have a ton of sauce options, which I love. The garlic and fire sauces are my go-to every time. They seriously take the burger to another level. As for the sides, both the regular fries and sweet potato fries are always hot, crunchy, and fresh. It is hard to choose between them because they are both that good.Overall, the burgers here are legit. The quality of the patty and the flavor in every bite really stands out. Definitely a spot I am always recommending to people looking for a solid burger experience.

Big props to Anthony!!! Super friendly and knowledgeable guy! We ordered the ultimate Boss and original Boss with onions two ways. The ultimate Boss had so much flavor. Two patties, chipotle mayo and pepper jack cheese, (what a combo!) The original Boss was phenomenal. The beef had a nice crispy edge, American cheese, and Boss sauce. The fries and chicken bites were yummy. The fries were fresh-cut goodness! Their shakes are a must order!! We ordered one chocolate shake, then ordered a second chocolate shake. Lots of tables here. They have a few TVs and self ordering kiosks, when it gets busy. This is our new burger spot, can definitely taste the freshness and quality ingredients.

Bistro Boss and Cheese Fries
Norma M.

I loooove everything that comes with the Bistro Boss from the melted bleu cheese, baby arugula, balsamic onion jam and the toasted brioche! THIS has gotten to be my favorite burger since the OG Cali Burger (Umami Burger changed ownership and eliminated my favorite burger ever from their menu).

Jordan X.

Good place if you like to customize your own burgers! They have an touch screen ordering system where you can place your order on your own. I opted for the DIY burger option, and I like the number of options they have to offer. They have a selection of buns, patties, toppings, and sauces. Food took a little less than 10 minutes to come out. I ordered the lettuce wrapped burger which was a little messy to eat, and it kept falling apart but it tasted hot and fresh. Ordered some fries as a side as well which were also good. Total was around $21 for the burger and fries, so a little on the pricey side but not a bad option if you are looking for a customizable meal.

Ask the Community - Burger Boss

Hi, is the crispy sandwich now halal? If not that would be a very popular option in my opinion.?

Great question, M.D. Our chicken breast is 100% Halal-certified!

I'm allergic to seed oils. Are you able to cook burgers in butter?

Hello Sommer, We can assure you our burgers are not cooked in any oil (except our black bean which is cooked separately from the beef). We do however use canola oil in the fryers. For extra care, please speak to the team and always notify them of…

Is your meat halal?

Yes, our beef is Halal.

Are your beef burger patties "Halal"?

S K, Yes, our grass-fed beef is Halal.…

Does anyone know what kind of oil the fries are cooked in?

Hi Elizabeth, Here at Burger Boss we use 100% Non-GMO Sunflower Oil for all frying!…

What are the vegan options? Are the buns vegan for the burgers? TIA

Looks like they have a black bean patty and all of their buns are vegan expect for the gluten free bun.. unfortunately they do not have vegan cheese but they do have a ton of add ons to still make it a tasty burger

Does anyone know if they provide any catering?

Hey Hannah! Yes they do offer catering! When we were standing in line I cant remember what exactly but they either had brochures or a flyer that said they can cater! Hope this helps :)

Having…read moreeaten at hundreds of Lebanese restaurants across multiple states--and traveling back to Beirut once a year--I have a very high bar for authenticity. My wife is also very familiar with the cuisine and cooks many of these traditional dishes herself. Last night, we tried BEI in Costa Mesa, and we are both absolutely thrilled to have found it. The hospitality here is amazing. Tommy gave us a warm greeting right as we walked in, and it was a pleasure chatting with him all evening. Our waiter, George, was equally amazing. He isn't Lebanese himself, but he jokingly told us that he is becoming Lebanese more and more every day just from eating the food here! He knew the menu inside and out, guiding us through the options and sharing his personal favorite plates with real passion. As for the food, my wife and I completely agreed that the chicken shawarma was easily the best I have ever had anywhere in the United States. It fully equals what you would eat at a high-quality restaurant in Lebanon. The toum (garlic spread), which is an absolute must for the chicken, was unbelievable. The hummus, baba ganoush, batata harra (spicy potatoes), and the fattoush salad were all absolutely amazing and perfectly seasoned. We finished the evening with an incredible knefeh for dessert. Even the hookah was great--smooth, well-prepared, and the perfect addition to the evening. They have a DJ on Fridays and a belly dancer on Saturdays, giving the space an awesome weekend energy. If you want genuine Lebanese cuisine paired with true Middle Eastern hospitality, BEI is a must-visit. We will certainly be back every time I am in town!

From the two, the gully smash was our favorite--it's like a classic smash burger but the addition of pastrami enhanced it! The burgers were both enjoyable, however, they were on the oily side and felt a bit heavy. I'd say prices here were also pretty steep for what you're getting. I'd say that this is a great option for halal burgers, but I think if you're not restricted to eating halal meat, there are burger options that I like more. The restaurant itself is in a food court that has a decent amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. What disappointed me most wasn't the delay, but the attitude. There was no apology for the late order. Instead, the employee was dismissive and insisted that it was "illegal" for my child to pick up the food. After looking into it later, I couldn't find any law that prohibits a child from picking up a parent's takeout order. If this is the restaurant's own policy, that's completely fine--but it should be explained as store policy, not presented as though it's the law. I understand that every business can have its own rules. However, better communication and a more respectful attitude would have made this experience much more pleasant.

First Impressions (1/5) When I walked in, there was only one person working, handling the fryer, the register, and assembling plates. I genuinely felt bad for her, especially considering the steady line forming. What We Got (2/5) I ordered a regular plate, which is what I usually get at Halal Guys. Nothing customized or complicated, just the standard order I have had many times before at other locations. Taste and Quality (0/5) The food was shockingly bad. The rice was raw and crunchy, which was hard to believe at first. The meat pieces were tiny and very chewy, and the pita bread was extremely soggy. On top of that, it was only around 4 pm and the usual spinning meat and grill were not even on, despite the line picking up. Service (2/5) The worker was clearly trying her best, but one person running everything in a busy location is not realistic. She was constantly running back and forth between the fryer and the line, which made the whole operation feel chaotic and slow. Space and Atmosphere (3/5) The space itself was fine and what you would expect from Halal Guys. Clean enough, but nothing stood out positively enough to offset the food experience. Was It Worth It (0/5) Not at all. As someone who is pretty frugal and almost always finishes their meals, I could not finish this plate. It genuinely felt like a waste of $18. Final Thoughts This location does not seem to be held to the same standards as other Halal Guys in the area. This experience was disappointing from start to finish.

Items such as bolani, koobideh, and other menu offerings are more commonly associated with Afghan and Persian culinary traditions. Although the menu also includes Mediterranean staples such as falafel, shawarma, and hummus, those dishes seem to represent a smaller portion of the overall selection. The mint lemonade was not very sweet, which is a matter of personal preference. I also found the color unusually vibrant, and after sitting for a while, the drink began to separate, which I found somewhat unexpected. The pizza was disappointing. It reminded me of a typical store-bought pizza, and I have had frozen pizzas that offered better flavor and quality. The beef koobideh and beef kebab were decent and enjoyable, but they did not particularly stand out compared to similar dishes available at other local restaurants. Service was somewhat disappointing during our visit. The hostess/server appeared to be managing a large number of tables on her own and seemed genuinely overwhelmed at times. While the overall service experience was not as attentive as I would have liked, it appeared to be more a matter of staffing or workload than a lack of effort on her part. The highlight of the experience was the patio. It is a pleasant space to relax, enjoy a cup of tea, and spend time outdoors. For me, the atmosphere was stronger than the food itself.
