I haven't had a really good burger for a while till I came to Burger Boss. They make smash burger style patties and it's so so good. Their beef patties are also grass fed! The quality here is top notch. It's on the pricier side but you get what you pay for here. ITS BOMB! They also have a million different sauces and everything is customizable. The portions are more than generous here. I ordered a lettuce wrap burger for myself, and 2 double doubles for my family and everyone loved it. Will definitely be back. read more

Was really excited to try this place. Grass fed beef, fresh French Fries and all natural ingredients. what can go wrong?! Well, here is the scoop: Service: Okay, not bad not good Burger Patty: Patty was too greasy for being grass fed, lacked taste and was rather bland Bread: The white kaiser bun was doughy, too thick for the thin patty and masked the already bland taste of the meat Fries: Fries are blanched (double fried) and cut with the skin on. The taste was more of a sweet potato with cinnamon than russet potato. I know they have sweet potato fries and may be they fry both in the same oil and somehow traces of the sweet potato seeped into the oil and seasoned the fried potatoes. Who knows?! Bottom line the fries lacked any potato flavor. On a different note, Burger Boss tasted more like Smash Burger with better ingredients. Just a waste of calories! read more

I'm really glad I was directed here through a Yelp event. Coming in, I wasn't expecting much, but Burger Boss is definitely a better-than-average burger. Since my visit, I have been craving the turkey patty and sweet potato fries. The turkey burger had a great flavor, was juicy, and I loved knowing I was eating "all-natural." So you design everything your way, get as many slices of cheese you feel like wolfing down today, add extra onions or none, it's your time to express and surprise yourself and feel good about it! Not into messing with that vertical screen right now? Fine, you can order at the counter too. Feel hungry before you get here? That's fine too, order everything from their app and just pick it up or have it delivered. There are different choices for everything from lettuce wrapped to extra sauce on the side, so ordering might take a little while, some might take their time adding and removing ingredients. Also, adding up stuff - adds up, so your final price might be a little triple-double, but heck - you had it your way! The service was inexistent for me, I had no contact with anyone, I picked up my burger and fries when my buzzer told me to. They even have outdoor seating. Many choices & options. The menu is easy to understand. The ONLY dilemma? Nothing works here for me. I need EVERYTHING to be ORGANIC OR AT LEAST NON-GMO. WHY???? Take a grass fed AND GRASS FINISHED! Yes I asked and the answer is YES! it's ALSO GRASS FINISHED. THAT!!! however does me no good. Once you contaminate with CONVENTION produce, the grass fed/finished is just that... ruined. So if your looking for a GOOD PLACE WITH GOOD CUSTOMER service this is FINE!!!! We came on the fourth day this Irvine location was open. The official grand opening was scheduled for the following Saturday. It was obvious that they were still training and getting the hang of things. You can order from a screen on the wall or at the cashier. We ordered from the screen because we thought that meant we could bypass the line. After we placed our order on the screen, we had to go to the cashier to pick up our receipt and drink. That required us to stand in line, so I don't quite understand how ordering from the screen was beneficial. We waited quite a long time for our food, but that's mainly because they were still getting the hang of things. The food quality is good. The sweet potato fries are delicious. Yum. Has Anyone Else noticed all of the fake reviews, including the ones Yelp has successfully chosen not to show.. All mentioning "Atria" the cashier? Obviously this downward spiral has caused them to create accounts to cover up their terrible food & service. Previous: Have been twice now, and each time has been a letdown. Now: I AM one of yelp's BIGGEST Burger guys, maybe numero uno. So not surprisingly, they have failed. 1) The Good: Wide array of customizable burger options... buns, toppings, dressings, and so on. Still not on a Slater 50/50 level, but I also don't like those burgers much. If you feee too much into the options you may perceive value in this place, but it's a sham. 2) The Bad: Greasy, Greasy, Greasy. The meat has to be a 70% 30% fat blend as it's all grease=major stomach pains after. So although it's supposedly "grassfed" it's clearly poor quality. I'm also HUGE on Ranch, and their ranch sauce is perhaps the worst I have had in my lifetime. It leaves a greasy lingering coating on your tongue. It's like it's made purely out of soybean or hydrogenated oils... just nasty! The trifecta is the poorly motivated staff at this location. Honestly if I could imagine being fed by line cooks in a prison cafeteria, I would imagine them looking more friendly than the staff here. They look like they hate their job, and it's the first time I can say it almost made me loose my appetite. I felt suppression, I felt pain, and if you're going to make your prep/cook space in public view, have a dam smile and not look so mad at the world. So, poor quality food, stomach pains, bad aftertastes, combined with bad staff, BUYER beware, and STAY AWAY is what I SAY. OC has hundreds of burger options, no reason you need to pay a premium here for an overhyped gut rot of misery. I've sampled most of the other eating establishments in the relatively new Tustin Legacy Village, and today I made it to Burger Boss. On the plus side, the venue is airy and clean, and the staff are nice. On the less-than-stellar side, the service was very slow, as other reviewers have noted. Especially since there were only two other customers waiting for small orders, and everyone ordered burgers. The burgers are thin, so they shouldn't take longer than a minute or two on each side, even for well done, which is how mine came out ... even though I'd requested it medium. I actually requested medium-rare, but the cashier said, "I'm sorry, medium is as low as we can go." That's too bad, because with other local burger places, such as The Counter and HopDaddy, they are happy to make your burger "blue rare," if you wish, and the pricing is similar. The ordering kiosks at Burger Boss are a novelty, but not really necessary, nor do they have all of the customization options that you can get simply by stepping over to the adjacent cashier counter. Bottom line: Burger Boss might be a good option for people who like their patties more on the well done side, and less juicy, but for those among us who like their cows still mooing, I suggest you try other options. read more

Boss? This burger barely makes the cut as a Jr. Account Executive at a small advertising agency. First off, I appreciate the use of technology for the ordering station, but the giant tablet's software is buggy and laggy. It took me a good 5 minutes to place a simple order. I was not a fan of the burger. While I could appreciate the freshness of the ingredients, the giant bun overshadowed the beef patty. I felt like I was in one of those Wendy's commercials from the 1980's, "Where's the beef?!" Also, only turkey bacon? I know it's way healthier, but if I'm already indulging in a thousand plus calorie burger, I might as well get the real thing? The fries had potential, but were a bit too crispy on the inside. This was my first visit and it won't be my last. Saw a video from the guys at Food Beast which prompted my visit. Turns out the BB employee in the video was working the night I showed up so that was kind of cool. This was a top of the line cheeseburger. Super juicy! Went on Monday evening and enjoyed some tasty burgers and fries. There was a bit of a snafu on the order and my son's burger meal was lost but the staff was sincerely apologetic and comped the burger. I can't say enough about the staff, who went from cooking up the burgers to serving them, and then coming back to clear our trays when we were done. I think I've found my new fave fry spot - the fries were perfectly cooked and had a nice crunch. A bit bland, but then again I like to dip them, so that works for me, and there were a variety of sauces to choose from. The burger patties were cooked well and tasted great; the rest of the toppings and offerings seem like the Five Guys and Counters of the world, so that's why I judge on the patty. My daughter had a turkey burger, and it was just OK to me. It tasted like any other turkey burger I've had. To be fair though, if I'm going to a burger joint that is all about the grass-fed burger, I guess picking beef is probably the best bet. Price-point wise, I'd say it matches up to The Habit Burger, Five Guys, but offering a lot more customization. I think The Counter offers more customization (including how you want the patty cooked), but they also charge more. Why get chain burgers (like Carl's or McDonalds) for $6 when you can spend maybe 1-2 bucks more and get a customized burger that tastes way better? But getting 4 burger meals did kinda hurt a little bit. I get the feeling that parking here might be a pain once everything fills up, so I definitely enjoyed Burger Boss being one of the first to open in The Village. read more

I understand the reviews. The concept is great; the restaurant space is open and welcoming. The food is OK. Not in line with the price. The buns are average and the beef patties are nothing special. In and Out down the way is better and Cheaper! Plus it takes a while for the food to get to you. I can't decide if they are trying to be fast casual, or premium burger, like Umami. I am going to error on the side of caution and give Burger Boss the benefit here and give 4 stars instead of 3. It was more like a strong 3.5 but as we know we can't give half stars out. I don't like going to new businesses the first 30 or so days after they open. This is to give the staff the benefit of working out the kinks. Nothing irks me more than someone patronizing a brand new business and comments about wait times, missed items, staggered foods, and giving the business 2 stars because the customer service sucked. Before throwing the staff under the bus go back a couple of months later and then review (... and now, off my soapbox). The place is clean and inviting. They offer kiosks to place an order as well as a cashier. I like this but it took a couple of tries to work the kiosk. I will take the blame on this... user error. Simple burger w/ spinach, toms, jalapenos, pickles and cheese. Nothing fancy, but a good burger in my mind. It took about 30 min to get it, far longer than it should have. The place was busy but not crowded. A couple of big groups but I counted 5 people working the line. I did appreciate the extra time they took to make the plate look presentable but for me two things irked me. The picture of the pickles were the long cut pickles but I got slices. Second, when I am expecting grilled jalapenos (because that is what the menu said), really grill them. I had to check extra close to barely see the grill mark. Fries were good, some of the better fresh cut fries I have had. Bottom line, I like, I am not overwhelmed with joy, will probably go back. They have been open for a while now, were not super busy, kinks should be ironed out, still took 30 min to get my meal. I am not expecting fast food but I have worked in my fair share of restaurants over my younger years and it shouldn't take that long. read more

(They have Coke Zero!) I got 1000 island and ketchup as dip. My husband got a Turkey burger with a Whole wheat bun, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, fresh onions, 1000 island on bun. Burgers A whole combination of their juicy grass fed beef patty, melted cheese, garlic mayo, and their fluffy buns gave it a perfect bite. I had a bite of the Turkey burger. I've had a Turkey burger only twice in my life, but that was the best turkey patty that I ever had. It Tasted fresh and flavorful. Fries My coworker said they use fresh potatoes for fries like InNout and I'm not a fan of InNout's fries but I LIKE Burger boss's fries. They Tasted fresh and crunchy outside. Price A Burger combo and a single burger was about $20. It's not cheap but ok for the quality. Service It seemed that the workers were not happy to work there. Despite their concept "healthy grass fed premier burger", they did not seem proud to offer the food except for one guy who was working hard. They use 3 screen panels to take orders and card payments. They ask your name on the screen instead of giving you a number for the food. The Workers walk around and call your name, but people were focused on their conversations, so it seems hard for them to find customers. They should use one of the TV screens to show the name and make some specific sound or just simply use the microphone to let customers know the food is ready. They should be able to improve the system. I like the system that you can make your own best burger. It's like The counter but with better patties. I hope they don't downsize their quality in the future. I like their food, so i'll definately come back and try many different styles. read more

It looked delicious, but after the first bites I couldn't finish It. Dry, flavorless patty without an ounce of seasoning. White bun was way too dense which made an unappetizing mix with the sad beef patty. Even the amount of sauce I put on It couldn't salvage the burger. Even the fries were disappointing when they already tasted stale and unsalted... how can a food joint mess up French fries?! I appreciated the build-your-own platform of this place and that they use grass fed beef, but seriously I feel bad this cow became an unsavory meal. My friend and I went here because they had vegan burgers for her and regular burgers for me. We were impressed by the multitude of options to customize our burgers. Unfortunately that's the only good thing about the restaurant. Our burgers both came out disgustingly greasy. Mine, especially so because of whatever fat was in the beef. Both of us were unhappy with the taste of the burgers. My friend said hers tasted like cardboard. Not good! The fries were just nasty. They were fried in sunflower oil and you could tell they were frozen to the point of being dehydrated. Bleck. To top it all off, the meal was ridiculously expensive. Seriously? How did this place get even better? Went in tonight with the family and was greeted by Paul- who is one of the most kind, helpful, and patient restaurant employees I have ever met. All of our food was made fresh to order and absolutely delicious. I was also happy to see that they are now offering crispy and grilled chicken sandwiches. We all love their beef burgers, but it's nice that they have expanded the menu. We frequent this place quite often, but tonight the food and service were extraordinary. $16 approx for a double cheeseburger and cheese fries. large portion sizes are welcome, but the burgers are dry, not juicy. Seems like the meat is too lean and the patties too thick resulting in pretty bad burgers. The fries were a step below most fast food fries, not terrible but not good either although the cheese sauce was good. There was myself and one family who had already gotten their food, nobody else in three. Yet it still took them about fifteen minutes to get me my simple order despite having three employees working and one on break. The cleanliness of the tables left something to be desired as well.
