Four stars for the food. I was actually quite surprised at how good it actually was. I took the many yelp suggestions and tried the fire shrimp. Crispy fried perfection and the sweet sauce (nothing but Mae Ploy But who cares!) The double turkey burger was excellent. The slaw was on point but those fries tho! Man I'm glad I sampled them. Once I was waited on the place was fine... I stood out front trying to obey the directive "please wait to be seated" for 5 minutes. Without an acknowledgement, I simply sat out on the patio where MNF was on... since no one was coming to my table nor the others who had patrons dotted around the massive space, I couldn't ask em to put the DUBs on the big screen. As I'm hating on NFL these days. Finally after another 5-10 just as I was about to abandon ship. A waitress i have not seen milling around in the main dining area shows up. This was a random selection on where we were going to eat. Go seated fairly quickly, put our drink order in and the tasty adult beverages took some time to get to us. My son accidentally spilled his sprite and the waiter wiped it all to the floor and left it for a while. So my son couldn't sit down until we cleaned it ourselves, the cocktails arrived and what was supposed to be a watermelon crush tasted like a mojito with a ton of basil (overload) and a tiny piece of watermelon, so not very good. The food was good. We waited for a long stretch of time for our check and for them to pick it up and run our cc. If the service were better we would go again. The Service has improved since my visit 15 months ago and Courtney did a great job at 10pm on a Friday, there were maybe 4 tables total. However my all American burger was not good, the bun dry and tasteless it soaked up their sauce. Patty was juicy and tasted good once I removed that awful bun. Fries subtle seasoned but limp! Quick stop before hitting the road, food was really good and service was very friendly.

Finally stopped here for a to go order after living in the area for some time. It's right next to Holiday Inn, probably leases space from it. Easy walk in through patio and parking is plenty for non guests. Patio area is large and spacious. I ordered the classic with fries and the bar tender was nice enough to ask if I wanted a water while I waited. The burger was huge and tasted good. There also lots of fries and they were thicker cut and had good flavor. I'll be back to try one of their other burgers soon maybe with some onion rings. read more

Went here on a Sat Dec 19th. Arrived around 8:20 the only person we saw was the bartender who didn't even say hello all she said was "Just so you know we close at 9". Okay well it was only 8:20 so Heck 40 minutes before closing didn't seem too bad. Not like we got here at 8:55pm. Anyway she should have just asked us to leave as she told us to seat ourselves and after 15 minutes never even greeted us. Who closes a sports bar burger joint at 9pm on a Saturday anyway? I'm surprised by all the negative reviews. I enjoyed my burger. I had the Lone a star burger. Good amount of sauce with a large fried onion ring. Added some sweet potato fries, which by the way are super delicious. Washed it down with a spicy Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary could have been more spicy but it still had a good taste. We sat outside, outside temp was around the 70's. So we enjoyed it. The negative review to that is that it's Bee season and the bee's interrupted our lunch. Wow !!! This place is a must for Phoenix. I had the Lonestar Burger. Ordered medium rare, yes it's real meat! Topped with cheese, bacon, onion ring, smothered in BBQ sauce, with a 1/4 pickle on the side. It was juicy, tasty, and perfect! I also tried the Buttermilk tenders. It coated perfectly with batter, and the chicken was juicy. And yes it's real chicken. The bar is nice and roomy, the patio is heated for the winter, and cooled for the hot summer days. read more

Absolutely a major improvement over the previous restaurant located at the hotel. I am here as part of the University of Michigan Alumni for the hockey game. The hotel has made incredible remodeling done right. The restaurant has a great marketing options. I would suggest that you market the sports bar to area University Alumni clubs. A area (Dallas Tx) restaurant /sports bar recently reached out to our club and started hosting our watch parties every Saturday for the football season. The restaurant has more than doubled there sales and in return donates 10% of the sales to the scholarship committee. The Alumni club now uses there business to watch hockey, basketball and other games. The business is a little slow but with the right marketing it could become a great sports bar. I am sure that there are numerous local Alumni clubs that would love this venue. read more

I wasn't expecting much, but I was hungry and it was close by. I ordered an On the Border burger and was very surprised. Solid burger. The inside has a bar and lots of flatscreens playing sports. I overheard someone complain about the loudness, but I personally didn't even notice. There is also a patio area that is much quieter. It still has flatscreens, but the volume is much softer. I can't even rate this place based on the food because I didn't get to try it. My family and I went in and sat down for 45 minutes after ordering our food. When I asked about how much longer it would take, the server said she would check. When she came back she said it would be about 5-10 minutes. Then I asked if I should just go somewhere else she said she will check again on how much longer. When she came back she said it would be fine if we went somewhere else because they hadn't even started our order. Food: I've gotten the Breakfast Burger (with mushrooms) and the Lone Star (with mushrooms and fried egg), and they were both delicious. The bun is a little heavy in my opinion, so the most recent time I went, I got the burger wrapped in lettuce, which I loved. The fresh crunch really complemented the BBQ sauce on the Lone Star. The one gripe I have is that because their fried egg was extra runny, the yolk caused the paper that the burger is served on to tear, and so since I was cutting my lettuce-wrapped burger, I ended up eating some paper... yuck! The shoestring-y fries were super hot and crispy and delicious though! Vibe: The first time I went, I got weird vibes, because it's directly attached to a Holiday Inn, but I've gotten used to it now. Inside, it has an upscale-meets-sports bar feel. The service is nice, but not the most efficient. Last time I went, there was live music. The guy had a great voice, and he was just playing acoustic guitar and singing, but he was a little loud (and I was at the booth furthest from him!) The overall ambience is impressive but does feel a bit cold since there is so much space that is not utilized. Service was good and portions are large. The burgers are just ok. I ordered the classic which might be why it was so plain. They use a thousand island dressing on the burger with Garlic that they call KGB sauce which sounded interesting... it's just thousand island dressing. We picked this place based on location and unfortunately Google reviews which gives this place 4 stars {head shake} . I am not sure if the folks on Google understand what good service and good food are. Anyway, let's start with the service. When we walked in my first thought was great we will get our food quick, it's not busy. We were starving. There were only four other tables sat at the time and one had their food. Our server greeted us got our drinks and took our order within 10 minutes. It then took 40 minutes for our food to come out. At the 30 minute mark I asked if our food was going to be out soon, it's burgers and fries, no reason to take that long. Our server looked at me with a blank stare and then said "it should come out soon, we are just really busy". The look I gave her said it all because she knew she fucked up by saying that and quickly mumbled she would check on it. When it did finally come out the bar tender brought it to the table. The moment he laid it down he took off without asking if everything looked right or if we needed anything else. I knew immediately that one of the burgers was wrong. Our server was no where to be found and we had get up and go to the bar to tell him that we got the wrong food. He eventually came over and took the burger offering to make it correctly. We declined, why would we wait another 40 minutes, at this point there were double the tables sat. Our server never came back to fill drinks or ask about the other food. She finally just dropped off the check, mumbled that they didn't charge us for the burger that was wrong and left. No, I am sorry for the mix up, no attempt to make it right at all. As for the food, we paid $20 for one burger and $17 for other. Seriously Five Guys is ten time better and a hell of a lot less money. Save yourself the trouble and go to a good burger joint like Rehab Burger Therapy or Zin Burger and leave this crap for the hotel patrons or Google fans. read more

We came here specifically for the dessert! I have a ridiculous love for everything s'mores & they happened to have something! The food was flavorful. I would describe it as well-seasoned American. I got the Firecracker Shrimp & some fries. My husband got a burger. Now for the good part, their desserts are called "Sweet Jars" which basically means it's layers of goodness all packed into a cute little mason jar! Burger Theory has a lot of things I like about it, (Sunday NFL games and Bloody Mary bar) and some weird things I don't, (mostly average burgers and high prices). It's a three star rating in my book having eaten here many times since April of 2017 when we moved just down the street and am forced to go here. What's up with putting lettuce under the burger patty? Burger juice and mushroom juice all dripping into the lettuce for that delicious very wilted, warm lettuce we all crave, (sarcasm alert). Crispy lettuce on the side please! Or just bring me some of your awesome wings instead! Besides the well designed logo and menu plus great wings and fire cracker shrimp, there is a lot to like at this place attached to the Hotel with TVs everywhere that only show news or the golfing channel it seems, (except NFL Sunday my favorite day to stop by). Sunday games, good appetizer menu, and a manager that seems to have improved this place in recent months, has raised my review from 3 stars to 4. I will end by saying I took my brother and nephew here one day for lunch and the onion rings, fries, fish sandwich, cole slaw and chicken strips were all great! Service excellent. Dreadful. Terrible service. Terrible food. One of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long, long time. Arrived to a "Please Wait to Be Seated" sign at about 1:30pm on a Monday. My colleague and I didn't see anyone else in the restaurant. At about the 5 minute mark, with two other people standing behind us, I started to wander towards the back when the bartender suddenly appeared and indicated we could sit anywhere. Another 8 minutes went by before we were greeted at the table by a waitress. We placed our entire order, I ordered my burger medium rare and verified she has it correct. The food came in about 10 minutes, not bad. That was the last time we saw our waitress before we had to flag her down, in an empty restaurant, to give us a check. My burger was cooked well. It was terrible. But we didn't see any staff while we ate. No one. Everyone was in the back. So I smothered my incredibly dry hamburger in ketchup, choked it down (without any beverage refills) and after paying, left happy to never return to this dreadful restaurant. The waitress never checked on us after the food came. Not once. Not even when she brought the check did she inquire if we enjoyed the meal. read more

On this visit my lunch companion and I ordered a burger and a side of fries. I have to admit, the burgers were good, but nothing really stood out. The burger was well cooked and juicy and the french fries were hot and crispy. However, considering sides are extra, I think $10 for that burger is a little much. I don't mind paying extra for a gourmet burger, but this burger really wasnt gourmet. Total for two burgers, one order of french fries, and two sodas was $29. There aren't a lot of options around this part of town. We were happy to stumble across this restaurant attached to a Holiday Inn. Obviously burgers are on the menu. I had the Breakfast burger which is a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg and gotta say it was very good. My daughter had the cowboy and said it was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. We both had onion rings that were also really tasty. There is seating inside and out and the COVID protocols are in place. The service was very good. The reason for four stars is the price. We drank water and had 2 burgers and it cost us nearly forty bucks. I'm not likely to eat here again just for that reason. read more

I've been eager to try this spot since they opened at the hotel. Food looks good, local craft beer and a beautiful remodel- what more could I ask for within walking distance? Well, I can't imagine going back. The problems started when my waiter, a nice young guy, brought me the menu. See, something was very wrong with what could be an amazing local draft list on happy hour. I saw that the Brown had the same description as the White Ale, and that the Kolsch was named incorrectly (Gold Road, not Old Road), the KiltLifter description had a typo and the Sonoran White Chocolate was described as a fruity hop bomb. I called my waiter over to let him know that these menus were all screwed up and that folks wouldn't be getting the beers they hoped for- his response? "Oh, hmm, I've never read the menu. I can just kinda describe them to you". Problem is, I'm passionate about our local AZ beer scene, I know the beers well and some of the folks that work hard to get them on the menu at a new hip restaurant that caters to tourists- so I'm appalled that he couldn't care less. I requested he talk to his manager since this should be corrected ASAP, and he said "ok". So, that was that. I stuck with water since I'm still confused what they actually have on tap. Our food was cheap- but really not impressed. The kitchen didn't put any dressing on my salad or on the side, so that was odd. Then my mom's nachos- which come with beans- had a ton of olives but no beans to be found. I mentioned this to our nonchalant waiter, who told her "There are beans, I see them...here." And he pointed within inches of her plate- counting out 4 beans. Then he offered to get some more. Right. So that's how that went. Paid out bill and luckily it was very cheap (with our waters) because the experience wasn't great. He was nice enough, just clueless- and he wasn't even close to the worst part. I told my mom that I really hope they fix the menu since I'd looked forward to coming here often in the fall for football and craft beer. She suggested I tell someone else- so at the front I mention to who I thought was the hostess- that the menu wasn't correct - She interrupted me to let me know she already heard. I continued that I was so excited to see a hotel restaurant in my neighborhood feature our local beer and I just wanted them to get it right for the visitors- she said "yea, have a good night" and walked away. I can't remember the last time an employee was so blatantly rude. She didn't apologize, thank me for letting them know, assure me that management woukd address it- no, she walked away. Now, I planned to go back- I planned to give them a few more shots. But to have both employees blow me off about a completely wrong menu? Unacceptable. Let me preface this... This is not the review I was anticipating writing. And that's because this is the second time I've been to Burger Theory with my co-workers. The previous visit was good enough to entice us to come back. This visit was especially disappointing. Most of the five guys (burger pun un-intended) I ate lunch with today, were there for the first visit as well. Collectively, we agreed that after the number of miscues today, we don't see much of a reason to return. The highs: The environment is modern, inviting and clean. Regardless of the service, the burgers are really delicious. My BT Burger with the house KGB sauce was cooked perfectly (med rare) last time. And the Lone Star (this visit) with bacon, BBQ sauce and an onion ring was also wonderful, despite being cooked med well. The lows: We chalked up the poor service on our previous visit to the fact that Burger Theory had just opened. I guess we were optimistic that the opening jitters had subsided. Unfortunately, they haven't. Our server today was very friendly, but that will only get you so far. Today we were celebrating a birthday. We waited a very long time for the food to arrive and the birthday boy didn't get a turkey burger as requested. It was beef and over cooked. He sent it back and ultimately waited so long for the re-cook that he had it boxed to go. The burgers didn't all arrive at the same time either. One of my co-workers asked for a drink refill. His glass was taken and never returned. When our server learned of the birthday, he insisted that he bring out the complimentary chocolate mousse. Because there was no priority on getting the re-cook to the table, the mousse was all he ate. Then, an attitude was detected when asked to split the check five ways. When the checks arrived, they were wrong. One drink was missing (finally, an error in our favor!) An order of fries was on the wrong check, as if one of us had asked for two orders. One of us was almost charged for the complimentary mousse! And last but not least, the cards were mixed up between a couple of books when they were returned. I don't recall ever leaving a restaurant in such a bad mood, after eating something so good. The general mood was captured in my co-workers expression below... BT! Are you listening?
