I understand they are trying to save the turtles but if I cannot slurp the milkshake, that is the ultimate sin. The straw was collapsing in my mouth every time I went for a sip. Decent Burgerville. Employees were more than accommodating and one lady even stopped to have a chat with me while cleaning the tables and floors. She was very pleasant. I stopped by on a Friday eve after a Cubscouts outing to treat my kiddo to a burger. We had some coupons for free burgers so that was cool. While service was great, there's just something i don't like about the burgers. And this is how I feel at most, if not all, Burgervilles. There are definitely better burger joints out there. Their fried Cod and fries are pretty good though. Probably won't return unless I have another free coupon or just wanting a shake and/or fries and cod. I'm not a big fan of fast food. Having said that, I do love a good burger from time to time. I love that Burgerville is local and sustainable and yada yada yada... I love their seasonal offerings. The asparagus spears and portobello mushrooms with aioli sauce is wonderful. I like the sweet potato fries. I've had a couple different veggie burgers, and they're good! I usually get the colossal cheeseburger with the house sauce...I love that they use leafy green lettuce instead of iceberg lettuce. The iced tea is good...but if I'm being especially bad, I will have one of the seasonal shakes. Recently I tried the Mocha Perk shake...and oh my! Better than Starbucks is my opinion! I usually go through the drive through...I mean, it's fast food, and it's convenient! One particular day, the line in the drive through was too long, so I went inside. After the cashier rang up my order, she asked if I had the Burgerville rewards card. I said no, what's that? She explained to me that it works both as a gift card and a rewards card. It's free! So I got one, and started racking up reward points that are worth a monetary value at BV. During your birthday month, they put $5 on your card. My birthday was in Sept, and I got the card in Sept, so they put the $5 on my card in Oct...I went down and pretty much got a free meal! I just had to pay 50 cents. So my recommendation if you go to Burgerville often, you should get a rewards card! read more

Not too busy, but there were 6 or 7 dirty tables, some with trash. I told someone at the counter and the tables were wiped down, albeit a sloppy job. The waffle fries had an odd flavor as did the French fries. I had to ask for our milk shakes, which still came 10 minutes after our food. The Tillamook burger was just okay. There is a tradition in our home each fall: Dad takes the kids (now 15 and 12) out to Burgerville for a Pumpkin Shake. Yesterday that's exactly what we did. Headed in, kids each ordered their respective burgers (one with cheese the other without, devoid of anything saucy, red, green, or chunky--the kids have dry-as-a-bone burger preferences). I try to watch the (fat) calories, so, I figured I'd head into the veggie-side of Burgerville. My far-more-refined palette (sticks nose up in the air) led me to try the Anasazi Black Bean Burger with its flavorful bean-based patty. Now, my father-in-law has a saying: "Ain't nothing low fat you can't fix with a good size pad of butter." So, Burgerville takes this flavorful-on-its-own Vegan patty....and just slathers it with cheese and spicy mayo. It, of course, was delicious. The pumpkin shakes were, as always, yum-in-a-cup. I know, I'm counting fat calories in one sentence whilst sucking down a pumpkin shake in the next. So sue me. As fast food goes, Burgerville makes some pretty decent food. They also have the reputation for being very socially-conscious, with nearly everything from cups to "plastic"-ware to straws fully recyclable and/or biodegradable. The food tastes great, the kids love going here, and the prices, while a tad higher than average for fast food, aren't out of line for the quality. We don't do a lot of fast food, our family of four visiting a fine fast food establishment perhaps once a month. But when we do, it's very likely to be Burgerville. The pepper bacon cheeseburger is pretty awesome. The fries are usually yummy. It seems they change quality too frequently. The sundaes are pretty good. I just feel like they have the smallest meat patties - always leaving me wanting more. Part of the reason I like them is because they offer more than other fast food burger places, but most of the items change due to the season. I would compare this to the "in-n-out" burger back in Cali. I had the cheese burger without the cheese (weird I know!). I wouldn't gotten the "plain burger" but it didn't have lettuce and all the rest of the good stuff. I had their fries, one of the few fast places I've been to where they have the skin on the potato. Went there tonight with my wife for a burger and was very disappointed.There were all kids working and they were not very attentive, not social and mistakes were made with both burgers. Then we decided to have a regular shake and that was also a mistake. I had my number in front of me and the girl making the shake just set them both at the end of the counter. The kid that took our order knew what we ordered and just walked away until I asked if those were our shakes. Mine was warm and half blended. Disappointed, 2 orders placed back to back, First order came out in a reasonable amount of time but did not match the receipt, had to asked twice. 2nd order, did not come, after 20 minutes I went to the counter to enquire, could see the order on the screen and physically sitting behind the counter. The person helping me just started gathering a few small items and headed to our table saying it was not done but we could get started, no remorse at all. All the food was there, not correct again and they brought more later that we did not order. I ask the manager about the order, no remorse, just a blank stare, I pressed a little for a comment and the answer was we are short handed and they walked away. I counted at least 6 employee, all work areas were covered. To the owner: you need a better role model in the store if you are not wanting to lead yourself. This location isn't up to the quality standards of many of the other Burgerville restaurants we've visited. The first glaring shortcoming is the lack of a welcoming, friendly atmosphere when approaching the order counter. I watched a half-dozen people placing orders go through their transactions without a smile from an employee. Regarding the food, our order was given to another table, so we were skipped over for a while until they were told we didn't get our order. The people that received our food were told they received the wrong order, after they had eaten most of it, and were given their correct order to enjoy too. It was nice that their order was corrected. It certainly should have been. Unfortunately, we weren't eating anything through the mistake period and had to wait longer for our meal to be prepared. We finally got our food, but one of the sandwiches (Tillamook Cheeseburger) was cold - apparently while waiting for the Crispy Chicken sandwich to cook. We recommend to this location that they offer a complimentary meal on the next visit. It reasonable, rather than giving two meals to one party and bringing out late, cold food to the other. This misplaced order was brought to the attention of the manager but not a word was spoken to us about the issue. There wasn't an apology of any kind. I have never before been compelled to write a review for fast food, but goodness the kids that work here are so great, I couldn't resist complimenting them. They are always friendly, always fast, and always happy to serve you. They employ a bunch of young kids that have manners most adults don't even have anymore. Management is doing something right over there. Also, unlike other Burgervilles that I have tried in the past, the food at this location is always hot, fresh, crispy, and cooked properly! I know these seem like things you should expect, but seriously, at other locations, we have received cold, and uncooked fries, PINK chicken, soggy burgers, and watered down sodas with no ice. So A++ to these guys on their food prep too! This location is always clean, the lines move fast, and they give you all the condiments you want free of charge! Rude service, food was unsatisfactory. Burgerville has always been my go to fast food because of their quality food but doubt I'll be back after todays visit....expensive food for McDonald's quality & service. The biggest disappointment was the lg Rosemary string fries, only filled half the portion of the container, overcooked hard oil soaked fries w/ a ton of rosemary clumps underneath. I took it back and asked if it was considered a large and the employee said yes, I again questioned the size and quality and she just shrugged at me and went back to her business. Ye olde Burgerville: Oregon institution. I can't imagine not having a Burgerville within a reasonable driving distance. Well, yes I can, because I spent a few years in Seattle, and Centralia is not reasonable to drive to for a couple cheeseburgers. When I was much younger, I adored Burgerville. What kid wouldn't? Simple, small burgers with a special "spread" that is seems to be some combination of mayo, mustard and relish. I still have an affinity for Burgerville, and now as an adult, I appreciate their efforts toward sustainability and promotion of local agriculture. Seasonal offerings from the company are neat; right now you'll find sweet potato fries and pumpkin milkshakes. Tasty and appropriate. When available, the Walla Walla onion rings are damn good. Burgerville, however, will never receive a fifth star from me, but that's okay. I don't think they're aiming for five stars. The food is good, but not outstanding. It's on the side of expensive. They're not particularly fast, nor are they painfully slow. It's just a good, honest, basic fast food restaurant that happens to be doing the local thing right. read more

Burgerville may not be the cheapest option for Burgers and Fries.. so that's not the reason you should go there. You 'should go' for their quality of ingredients. Everything just tastes fresher. I had breakfast there one day and lunch the next... the breakfast burrito's eggs and salsa tasted very fresh.. not a sloppy thrown together burrito you get at McD's, BurgerKing, etc... and my lunch's salad had endive lettuce, red onions, tomatoes, etc... not just some iceberg/romaine prepackaged item out of some fridge you'd get at McD's - you get the picture. Go to Burgerville if you want to get as close to home-made/'real' restaurant meal but in a fast-food setting. Food is served in baskets ala Panera Bread.. and ingredients are quality.. Ever since I left Seattle, I've been wondering where in Portland to find a Dicks-like burger. I've tried different carts, different burger shack-y places, all to no avail. While stuck at a stop light, I happened to see the bright, shining drive-thru menu at a Burgerville shouting words like "Local!" and "Sustainable!" at me, and I thought, "Well, crap, I already ate dinner..." OK, Dick's fans, I think I have finally found it-- a PDX substitute. Burgerville's Original Cheeseburger is pretty darn close to a Dick's Special. Minus the lettuce. But that's kinda better, right? No soggy lettuce (booooo). Burgerville's special sauce tastes close to the mayo/chopped pickles thing Dick's has going on. Even the pricing is similar. Though BV puts ketchup on theirs, I'm sure you could ask for it to be left off. The fries are good. The chocolate shake was awesome. Local. Sustainable. Food. What's not to love there? The best part? The RECEIPT. Be sure you get one. Seriously. They print the nutrition information for everything you ordered right there on the freakin' receipt. Yeah, all that fat. Carbs. Protein. All those glorious calories you'll (hopefully) be working off in your favorite way is printed in black and white for you to contemplate as you enjoy your meal. And you better enjoy it cause you shouldn't be doing this everyday (even if you want to sometimes). So when I'm feeling like a bad vegetarian (BAD! BAD vegetarian!), you will likely find me in one of these fine establishments... or a carne food cart... but that's a different post. read more

While it's sad that there is no In 'N Out Burger up here, we think we've found a suitable replacement. The burgers taste great and the Yukon gold fries (a seasonal item) are fantastic without ketchup. I've tried both the Chocolate Hazelnut (seasonal) and the strawberry milkshakes and was pleased with both. The Chipotle Pepper Jack burger (also seasonal) is nice and spicy. My only complaint is that their cheeseburgers just don't have the cheesy-goodness of In 'N Out. Aside from the food, the staff has been very helpful. I went to their website to check out their oil (all canola -- no trans fats to be found) and got confused by what was seasonal and what is on the "take out" menu and why is the "take out" menu different than the full menu because it's just a drive-thru like any other burger place??? When I went to the drive-thru they explained things really clearly and apologized all over they place about things being confusing. Then they proceeded to cook me a fresh batch of blazing hot fries and apologized for the delay 3 times; not only would a delay be worth it, it wasn't more than a minute or two. Then they made sure to warn me to be careful because the fries were hot. As fries should be! I love these considerate people! read more

Everything was horrible. Customer service was atrocious, passive aggressive and slow. Our food order was totally wrong, including about a quarter cup of mayo on one sandwich. The whole thing actually slipped apart when we removed the wrapping paper. It took over 20 minutes for food with possibly 3 groups in the place, at most. We will never return. Don't bother, honestly. In fact, we ordered a vegan meal and it was like they purposely made it wrong, adding cheese and chipotle mayo, even after the girl in the front rolled her eyes and read the order back accurately, however rudely. All of it was cold, the veggie patties were soggy. The regular order of waffle fries had, we counted, 10 actual fries. I'm laughing as i write this because it was THAT bad. My husband was closing up the bag while looking at the menu before we left and she barked, "YOU NEED SOMETHING?!" Wow. We left, driving 5 minutes home to find the disaster we paid and TIPPED for. The only thing saving this review is that the food was ok. Service was awful. I went through the drive through and waited for almost 20 min for my food. When I got the food it was the wrong order. Then I went inside and the lady threw out the wrong order and gave me my order but it was lukewarm at best. Just went through the drive-thru and ordered a Mocha Perk Smoothie. When I got to the window and I was handed what was clearly a MP Milk Shake (because it had whip on it). I questioned the attendant and her response was "Oh if you want yogurt you need to say a Mocha Perk Yogurt because when you call it a smoothie I think of ice" I hate to break the news to you, but the Burgerville Menu calls it a Mocha Perk Smothie! If I am really in a pinch and need something quick to eat, I like being able to turn to Burgerville for sustainable food and their environmental philosophy (even down to the straws that can be sent to the compost pile). They have some wonderful seasonal items, and they use local ingredients. Because of this philosophy, it is more expensive than your usual fast food fare, but well worth the price. The burgers are fairly consistent in flavor. The fries can be, at times, inconsistent at this location. When they are good, they are some of the best. When they are not, oh brother... I give this a 4, but it is more on the high side of 3.5, as they tend to be somewhat inconsistent at this location. But it is not very often, and I do enjoy the food. And I will give them the 4 based on their eco-friendly business practice. read more

Burgers are never hot enough just warm. I suspect the process needs to be change to get them. This has been the case for a few years.

I stop in here for lunch a few times a month. As others have said the parking lot is awful, especially at lunch time. Prices are higher than other fast food places, that's really not a huge deal because the food comes out hot and fresh. The reason I am giving two stars is because of Gary. I am assuming he is the manager because he wears a red shirt. Gary has a bad attitude, no greeting what so ever just loudly says, "Here or to go." No enthusiasm, no interaction, etc...Doesn't even say thank you after handing change back. He just seems disgruntled and possess no leadership skills. I would strongly suggest retraining him or putting someone on the front counter that actually wants to be there. I honesty don't think I will come back! read more
