    Tea Leaf Salad

We went for Saturday night dinner at around 6:30pm and there wasn't any wait. The service was amazing. The waiter always checked in with us throughout the meal and answered all of our questions. The inside was clean and a bit dim. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the Tea Leaf salad and the Lotus Chips! Those two dishes were super delicious.

The food is AMAZINg here. Try everything and it is meant to be shared. The beef curry was my favorite along with coconut juice. Service is great and you can always ask them to give you recs depending on your party size and dietary preferences. The place is very big and fits a lot of people so it's a great place for social gatherings.

You can never go wrong with tea leaf salad! The palata was buttery and delicious with curry on the side. The garlic noodles were tasty and had a sweet chili sauce. The cucumbers cut through the oil with freshness. I was disappointed with the nan gyi dok because the sauce was too watery, making it hard for it to stick to the noodles. The noodles were very bouncy as always though.

Tried this place from walking by was we were not disappointed. The food was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The Tea Leaf Salad was better than Burma Superstar and their salad is great. Just liked this one better, not as tart and the crunchy things don't break your teeth.

Yummy, fast and accommodating service. They weren't super busy when we came in around lunch time, and food came within 10 minutes for to go orders. The rest of our group was seated, the restaurant is lovely and bright. I ordered the Nan Gyi Dok. It has crunchy and soft textures-- chips and noodles and soft chicken. Very interesting.

My friends and I got family style meal and were pretty satisfied! Our favorite thing on the menu is definitely the mango white fish. The coconut rice was soo good as well. We also got the tea leaf salad which is a classic if youre eating burmese. Its served on a plate while other places serve it in a bowl with the ingredients separated. It probably tastes the same but i think presentation matters a lot. We also got mango tofu which was a miss. The type of tofu used didnt go well with the dish - it was hard and rubbery.

My picture was of us after we already dove in, we couldn't help ourselves! also not pictured was the Tea Salad which was delicious! Definitely recommend, our server was phenomenal and even brought my boyfriend out a scoop of ice cream with a crazy flamer/candle on top! It was so sweet and he was so fun and knowledgeable. Recommend if you're in Palo Alto! As a note, we went there during Memorial Day weekend and the road was still closed for dining which made it super spacious and my mom - who hasn't eaten out since the pandemic started - felt very comfortable eating here.

COVID review 4 star for food! We tried Palata, super yummy! Garlic noodle with BBQ pork, they used dried garlic and with cucumber, it's saucier and the noodle is the thin flat noodle. The curry shrimp is not as oily as the Thai curry and it has more vegetables inside. The amount of shrimp inside is also generous. Besides food, this place needs more improvement in service. There's one server who's good, but the other one we had did not wear gloves and not much service at all. It took us forever to call our server to get the bill and in the end the other guy helped us.

While I never…read moremet the man, he has incredible taste, because Sweet Maple has the best breakfast food I've ever had in the bay area. Well worth the trip. The two of us were dubious about the Millionaire's Bacon, because it was hyped up to the point where it seemed unlikely that it could live up to the reputation. We were wrong. We ordered the Millionaire's Bacon sampler platter, which is four strips of long, thick pieces of bacon, baked with brown sugar and spices. There is the original, which is brown sugar, cayenne, red, and black pepper, which was sweet, salty, and the perfect amount of spicy. The other slices were orange, cinnamon, and rosemary. My partner enjoyed the orange best, whereas I loved the cinnamon, but we both thought the rosemary was underwhelming. The bacon itself was very thick and meaty with a minimal amount of fat, and was just clearly high quality pork. Truly worth the hype. We also got the bottomless mimosas, which not only had multiple choices of juice (we got raspberry lemonade) but were surprisingly heavy on the champagne. The waiter kept them coming without us needing to ask, to the point where I had to tell him I was done because I was a little too tipsy for breakfast. My partner got the chicken croffle, and was very impressed. I tried the fried chicken (though not the croffle) and it was very well spiced, very crunchy, and well cooked--juicy and tender. I got the big hip, which is deep fried "french toast". I wouldn't call it french toast myself, but it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and came with fresh fruit, butter, and syrup. There wasn't enough syrup for the entire dish, but I asked our waiter for more and he came back with it in less than a minute. On top of the food being as close to perfect as you can get, the service was great. Several different waiters checked in on us throughout the meal, making sure we were enjoying the food and that we didn't need anything else. The vibes of the restaurant are really enjoyable too. The décor is lovely, the sound levels are very reasonable, and everything was spotless during our visit. Overall, I can't recommend Sweet Maple enough, and I'm kind of glad it's not closer to my house because I would go bankrupt with the amount of Millionaire's Bacon I'd buy on a weekly basis.

The host received us warmly, but things slipped from there. Our table was missing cutlery and we had to flag our server down to get it sorted. We asked for a minute to look over the menu since it was our first visit. He did not come back for five minutes, and only because we flagged him down again. When we ordered, he took our request without making eye contact, attention clearly elsewhere in the restaurant. One dish came out. The second did not. Our server never circled back to check on us, and seemingly did not notice that one of us had no food in front of her. After nearly ten minutes, we flagged him down again. He called over from across the restaurant, not walking to us, with a "what?" We had to gesture that my guest still had no food. He came over briefly, confirmed our order, said it was coming soon, and left. No apology. No acknowledgment of the wait. No offer to make it right while one plate sat getting cold. The food eventually came, again with no apology. It was good. But by then, honestly, the experience had overshadowed it. We asked for a manager. Cathy came over, listened, and immediately apologized. She agreed the service fell short, gave us a break on the bill, and handled the situation with real grace. She is the reason this review has any stars at all! For reference, our server's name on the receipt read Mui F. I hope Cathy's conversation with him makes a difference, because Sweet Maple clearly has the food to back up its reputation. The service just needs to match it!

The service we received was good, they were attentive. That said, I dislike the 4% employer mandates fee that they added. Even though it is stated in the small text in the menu, it is still sketchy. Just add that to the price from the beginning so we know what we expect to pay, instead of adding extra cost at the end, when we receive the bill. Here's what we ordered: - Pandan creme brulee: has good Pandan flavor, but I don't think I actually like creme brulee in general (I prefer Flan) so I can't say about this one. - Siam spice cocktail: good. I'd order again - Clay pot cod: cod was cooked to perfection. Overall, it's good but from a Vietnamese point of view, I think it could be better - Garlic prawn noodles: prawns were good, my family said the noodles were very flavorful. - Tamarine prawns: my favorite. Really delicious, love the crunch from the fried tiny noodles - Shaking beef: not my favorite. It didn't have the flavors I'm looking for from shaking beef. However, my husband still liked it. The meat was very tender. - Blue crab tacos: loved the crunch and the crab flavor - Empress rise: yummy sticky rice - Sunrise in Hanoi cocktail: this looks cool but the flavor is just okay.

I'd recommend the clay pot cod, the tiger prawns & garlic noodles, and the garlic fried rice. The blue crab tacos were highly recommended to us but there was a lot of rice in the taco and the flavor overall did not impress me. The shaking beef was tender and cooked well, but was nothing special. Overall, the portions were very small for the price. The restaurant is nice, the bathrooms are clean, there's plenty of bar seating. The service was underwhelming - our server seemed unhappy to be there and did not crack a single smile the entire night. We ordered four dishes from section two. We weren't sure if it would be enough food, but it ended up being a perfect amount (perhaps because I was pregnant and there wasn't much more room in my belly haha). My husband started off with the wagyu beef tartare tartlet, which he enjoyed. For our four shared dishes, we got: 1. Scallion Croissant: This one was my fav! Recommend eating it all fresh while the texture stays crisp on the outside. The rou song (meat floss) flavor from the butter didn't come out as much as I'd like it to but I still enjoyed the Asian twist to the croissant. 2. Yeobo, Darling Chicken Wings: It didn't feel very special, but I'm always down for chicken wings. Could've been more tender. I enjoyed the shishito peppers that come with it. 3. Lu Rou Lasagna: A fusion of two things I really love! Lu Rou is slow braised minced pork belly. I forgot what the green "pasta" is made out of, but it was tasty. I had to get the chili oil on the side (due to my husband's spice intolerance). Not sure how it would have been with the chili oil incorporated into the dish, but I didn't think the chili oil added much. I bet Lao Gan Ma (chili crisp + chili oil) would've been superb with it. 4. Chilled Perilla Somyun: This was a refreshing dish, which helped balance out the other heavier dishes. I wasn't super wowed at first bite, but enjoyed it more and more with each new bite. I wanted to try the Wagyu Kalbi, but the price point is more than what I'm comfortable with. We opted out of dessert, but were pleasantly surprised when they brought out a small dessert for our anniversary. It was some sort of roll with chocolate over it, yum! Service was great. I appreciate that they inquire about food allergies prior to ordering. Throughout the meal, they always made sure our water cups were filled. The food itself doesn't necessarily make me want to come back a second time, but it was great as a one time date night spot!

We made the mistake of not making one and were glad they took us in. We ordered... Appetizers Chicken karaag- crispy, juicy. Shiitake tempura- lightly battered and dipping was sauce was Chien fritter- skip or ask do no sauce if you can't handle wasabi Quattro mushroom tempura- a must get!!! Entree Katsu Don - the pork was tender and the egg was so delicious. Wagyu Curry Rice with Tonkatsu- we thought the pork in the katsu Don was tender, the pork here was even more tender!!! Wagyu Steak with Garlic Rice- this dish was why caught my eye on IG. It's very flavorful but definitely really oily. All these dishes reminded my of Gonzalo Barin Tonkatsu in Hawaii and the Wagyu Steak Garlic Rice reminded me of Japan street food at the night market

The restaurant was packed on a Thursday night but I was able to walk in at the bar. I got the ankimo pate from the seasonal menu and the wagyu steak and garlic rice. While waiting for my food I observed a sign of authenticity: a table of 8 Japanese businessmen, so I was pretty excited to get my food. I usually looooove ankimo and I didn't really think too much about how the mascarpone would be. I think it's too heavy/creamy and lost the liver-ness of ankimo which I really like. I understand a lot of people don't though so, different strokes for different people. Not a big fan of the mixture, and there was also water or something on the bread that made it soggy. However, the pickled onions and grapes were really good especially with the wagyu steak and garlic rice. At first glance the image of the wagyu steak is not that impressive, as it was in real life as well...BUT as I took my first bite I was taken back to the underground Kobe beef bowl hole in the wall restaurant. The beef is cut into really big pieces so in this picture it doesn't look like a lot but it was a good ratio. The rice is soft and fluffy and flavorful. Worth getting the dashi. I will definitely be back!!

They had tended to all of my needs without me needing to call for anyone and they went above and beyond to make sure that me and my partner were comfortable and satisfied throughout the entire dinner. The food was wonderful. I would especially recommend the black cod miso. The overall vibe and ambience of the environment that surrounded me was very professional while still being extremely intimate which I much appreciated.

This review is long overdue!…read more If you've never dined it at Nobu, I highly recommend it. Everything from the service and ambiance to the food is top tier. From the ingredients down to the plating of the food, it's art on a plate. I haven't seen plating this beautiful anywhere else, and they've nailed it consistently across all three of my visits. Since I'm clearly a regular, let me share my favorite menu items and tips if you're a first timer. - Make a reservation: Whether it's your first visit or a special occasion like a birthday, anniversary, or date night, booking ahead is a must. - Parking: Street parking is hard especially on the weekends and Friday night but there are garages and parking lots. Don't forget to remove all valuables and make sure there's nothing visible. - Family style: It's meant to be family style. In fact, depending on your party they might suggest 2-3 cold dishes, 2-3 hot dishes and of course you can't end a Nobu experience without dessert. Don't worry I'll list my favorites soon. - Be kind. It doesn't cost anything to be nice and respectful to the staff and guests. Here's what I've had so far and would order again. NOBU CLASSIC Cold - Yellowtail Sashimi Jalapeño $36 - Uni Shooter $19 - Oyster Shooter $19 - Warm Mushroom Salad $25 Hot - Chilean Seabass with Dry Miso $48 (Yes yes yes - my favorite dish ever) Shuko - Edamame $9 - Grilled Shishito Peppers $15 NOBU NOW Cold - Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna (min of 2) $11 each Hot - Lobster with Honey Truffle Aioli $95 - Ribeye Nigiri, Sashimi, and Sushi Maki - Bluefin Toro $20 - Yellowtail $8 - Salmon $8 - Soft shell crab $20 Drinks - Ryokan Rickey $20 - Lychee and Elderflower Martini $19 Dessert - Whiskey Cappuccino $16 - Zen Garden $17 - Date Cake $17 Overall, I would come here again. The experience and cost to eat here is worth it in my opinion if it's a once or twice a year kind of thing or if you're in the area for happy hour lol. Definitely love Nobu and thank you again to all the chefs and staff for the delicious food and amazing service!
