This place is the definition of getting your moneys worth! I came here last month for my birthday with my about 9 of my friends. It was an amazing experience and I can't wait to come back! The food was amazing, and having grilled seafood cooked in front of you was surely an experience. I did forget the gentleman who took care of my reservation but he was literally the absolute sweetest. Our group did have to sit outside so it was a bit chilly but we still enjoyed. I'm telling you guys need to come here and experience it!

Truly a delicious and unique seafood bbq restaurant. Really enjoyed and thought the food was delicious. I was worried the set fog 1-2 people wouldn't be enough but we left very full. Highly recommend if you are trying to lower red meat consumption

I've been hearing about this place a lot recently it's basically Korean BBQ but with seafood. Came on a weekday with a group of 8, and while it's usually busy, we grabbed a table in the back patio so we didn't have to wait too long. We went with the Captain Set and the Crew Set. Both came with banchan and cold Korean noodles, which were super refreshing alongside all the grilled seafood. Everything is cooked over coals, which gives it a nice smoky flavor that really brings the seafood to life. I even tried hagfish for the first time it's definitely unique, but glad I gave it a shot. Price-wise, it feels a little high for what you get. At the end of the day it's just mainly clams and mussels.., so it didn't really fill me up the same way a KBBQ set would. But the quality was good, and I liked that the meal finished with a hot noodle soup comforting and a nice way to end the spread. Overall, it's a fun spot to check out with friends if you're into grilled seafood and want something different from the usual KBBQ routine.

As a seafood lover, I love this spot. Service was quick. He was nice and helpful. Seafood is fresh. Tbh, everything was great. I'm not a mussels person and I didn't have any. We came with a big group and everything came out fairly quick. Performance def a watch too Will def recommend and comeback

Third time here and always great. Fresh clams, good portions, and fun grilling. Friendly staff too. Will be back!

    * Price: $100 for two (no hidden fee!) 4+ stars. * Ambiance: simple, casual, seafood korean BBQ. 4 stars. * Location: ktown. Street parking. From other reviews, the restaurant has parking in the back. * Meal: if you like seafood and KBBQ, look no further! 5 stars. * Service: friendly and pleasant. 4 stars. This restaurant came up on my IG feeds... looks awesome... we were not disappointed! The restaurant does not take reservations online. We came on a weeknight, found a street parking right infront and got seated right away (scored!) They have 4 tower sets: crew set ($109) serving 1-2 persons, chief set ($159.99) serving 3-4, master ($219.99) serving 4-5, captain ($299) serving 5-6. They also have a la carte, hot pot, etc. We had crew set which includes 1.4 lbs Manila clams, 2 whole shell oyster, large clams, shrimps, mussles, scallops, octopus, potatoes, served with korean ceviche, steam egg, pancake, spicy rice cakes, korean noodle soups. There are 3 different dipping sauces which are delicious. It is a lot of food. You definitely get your money worth here. The staff is friendly and attentive. They cooked the seafood at the table. The air ventilator is pretty good but I probably won't wear my must dry-clean clothes to dine here. Overall, Burnin' Shell did live up to its hype!

I ordered the Captain Set ($200) which promises Manila Clams, Whole Shelled Oysters, Large Clam, Shrimps, Scallops with Cheese, 3 Abalone, Hagfish, Live Lobster (Steamed), Marinated Baby Octopus, Buttered Squid, Potato, Sweet Potato, and sides of Ceviche, Steamed Eggs, Korean Pancakes, Corn Cheese, Fried Shrimp, Korean Spicy Rice Cakes, Bay Scallop Soup, and Korean Noodle Soup. It was quite underwhelming as a majority of the seafood served was just clams. The more expensive seafood promised was only one piece per person. Notable items: Manila Clams, Scallops with Cheese, Buttered Squid, the butter sauce with the lobster, and the Korean Noodle Soup. They also slow cook everything so we were in there for almost an hour and a half to two hours. It took even longer because one of the clams refused to open up so they had to get us a new one. Nothing truly stood out to me or appeared as worth the price. Since it's primarily protein, you don't feel full at the end as well if you don't order extra carbs on the side. This was enough for 4 people if you only want to feel 80% full.

What We Ordered - Crew Set It was my first time at a seafood bbq place so I opted go try a set menu instead of a la carte. I enjoyed everything but key highlights were the Korean ceviche, steamed egg, fried shrimp, Manila clams, mussels and whole shelled oysters. Now that I know what to like, will go with a la carte in the future! Dipping sauces were great, especially the green sauce!

All star plating. If you're craving seafood, this is the place! Waiters are attentive and make sure the food in front of you is grilled to perfection. Combo it with some alcohol and it's the perfect night

This place is the real deal when it comes to Korean cuisine. We used to visit before the pandemic when it was called Daebudo, and we had a fantastic experience then, and it's still great now. We ordered the combo for 1-2 people (set #1), and it was plenty for both of us. The servers were all fantastic, answering any questions we had, and they cook the seafood right in front of you on the grill. Valet is $4, and there's plenty of parking. The valet took our key, asked us to pay in advance, and handed the key back so we could leave without needing to ask for it. It's LA parking, so our expectations were low. We'll definitely be back!

I checked out this spot last Saturday for dinner. We got there pretty early around 5 PM and we were seated right away. The place is really small, and I don't think they take reservations, but they do have a waitlist. We ordered the crew set, which is meant for three people, and it came with all the banchan from the companion's list. Everything was flavorful. I get why people mention the clams being tiny after cooking, but that's just how clams are. If that's a concern, you can always order à la carte. Since we were a party of three, we added another pancake and cheese corn. Just a heads up, you have to pay for extra banchan, unlike some regular K-BBQ spots where it's unlimited. We also tried the sea eel. It was good, but I wasn't blown away, and honestly, the menu felt a bit limited. This place was hyped up a lot on IG, but for me, it didn't quite live up to that. The staff were great and really attentive and ready to help at any moment. One tip: they provide a single glove, so use it to handle the burning hot shells and avoid burning your skin! Overall, it's a little too far for me so I'd probably choose another spot for this kind of meal closer to home.

We came on a weekday night after work in a group of 8 and they got us seated right away. Burning Shell is a fun spot if you're craving seafood with a Korean twist. Definitely have one of the freshest seafood in Ktown. They serve big portions of fresh clams, mussels, shrimp, and crab, usually cooked right at your table in a spicy, flavorful broth. We ordered live lobster and it was both amazing and entertaining. The atmosphere is lively and perfect for groups, and it's definitely a bit messy but worth it for the experience. Great place to come hungry and share!

    Sandra C.

This restaurant was recommended to me if I ever craved Jeju-style seafood in Ktown, particularly for the abalone. I think on Google, this restaurant is/was called "The C" or "Daebudo" before they changed their name to Burnin' Shell, so it was a bit confusing when we drove up, but we managed to find it okay! The parking lot in the back was very convenient, and it was nice to easily walk-in and get seated right away on a Thursday evening with no reservation. The ambiance was casual, relaxed, and they served alcohol which was nice because we had some friends visiting. There were four of us altogether, and we were trying to decide between the combination seafood order 3-4 or 2-3. We decided to go with the 2-3 people serving because half of us were girlies, and we're SO GLAD WE DID! By the end of the meal, we were stuffed! Good quality fresh seafood with great side dishes, and the service was ON POINT. They grilled everything for us, and let us know when the different seafoods were ready to eat. Overall, we had a great time! Burnin' Shell is at the top of my list the next time I have a hankering for fresh seafood. I think my parents would approve as well.

Hello, are any of the seafood wild-caught please?

I don't think they have wild caught . Their price range is too low to serve wild ones... but quite great quality.

Is this restaurant have all you can eat?

No, not a all you can eat restaurant.

    How is the parking?

Lots of spots behind the place !

Is the companion set included in the pre fixe combo? Is rice included? Appreciate your answers as I'm considering the place for my son's birthday.

You can talk with the chef if planning a private party and we can include rice but normally we do not serve rice.

We started with the oyster sampler featuring selections from Hollywood, MD; Pope's Bay, VA; Buzzards Bay, MA; Chesapeake Bay, VA; and Wellfleet, MA. The oysters were exceptionally fresh and served with great accompaniments. We always order oysters when visiting seafood restaurants because freshness is so important to us, and Water Grill absolutely delivered. A must-order. The grilled Spanish octopus, served with fingerling potatoes, Niçoise olives, roasted tomato, pine nuts, and olive oil, was very good (3.5/5). We're fairly picky when it comes to octopus, and while we would have liked a bit more char, it was still among the better versions we've had. The New Zealand king salmon sushi with avocado, hazelnuts, papaya, and white soy-lime vinaigrette was fresh, clean, and delicious (5/5). While not particularly unique, it was executed perfectly. The crispy calamari with harissa aioli and cilantro-mint sweet chili sauce was also well done (4/5)--crispy, not oily, and very enjoyable. Calamari is another dish we frequently order, and this version met our standards, even if it wasn't especially memorable. The standout among the appetizers was the New Zealand pink bream ceviche with cilantro, red peppers, onions, lemon juice, and olive oil. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were incredibly fresh (5/5). We only added a touch of salt. This is another must-order dish. The Peruvian bay scallops with pistachio citrus pesto were somewhat underwhelming (3/5), and the Brussels sprouts with bacon and chestnuts (3/5) didn't leave much of an impression either. The lobster itself was excellent (5/5)--sweet, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The accompanying coleslaw wasn't our favorite, but we'd happily order the lobster again and probably go for a larger portion next time. The absolute star of the evening was the Massachusetts black sea bass. It was easily one of the best dishes of the night and possibly one of the best fish dishes we've ever had at a restaurant (5/5). Tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. To top it all off, the restaurant surprised us with a complimentary birthday dessert featuring chocolate cake, vanilla cake, oatmeal cake, and ice cream. It was thoughtful, delicious, and a wonderful ending to the meal (5/5). Overall, Water Grill earns a well-deserved 5/5. The quality and freshness of the seafood were outstanding, the beachfront ambiance was beautiful, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Definitely a must-try seafood destination in Los Angeles. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience--we truly appreciated it.

My favorite dish was the Kanpachi Collar, which came with rice, beans, fresh tortillas, pickled onions, and three generous pieces of perfectly cooked collar. Building each taco yourself made the experience even more fun, and the combination of the smoky fish, creamy beans, fluffy rice, tangy onions, and fresh tortillas was phenomenal. Another standout was the Scallop Aguachile. The portion of scallops was surprisingly generous, and the bright, tart sauce complemented the sweetness of the scallops perfectly. Easily one of the best aguachiles I've had. My fiancé ordered the seafood soup, and it was just as impressive. It was loaded with fish and shellfish, making it feel well worth the price. Yes, the line was long, but it was absolutely worth the wait. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, constantly clearing finished plates and checking in to see if we needed anything else. Even though Holbox is located inside a food hall, it somehow creates the feeling of dining at a standalone restaurant. The open kitchen, the smell of fresh seafood cooking, and the constant buzz of happy diners give the space an energetic yet welcoming atmosphere. It feels casual enough for a quick lunch but special enough for a memorable meal. I already can't wait to come back and experience the chef's tasting menu. People indoors seemed to be receiving their food just fine, but the larger tables outside suffered. For hours. We got pretty much zero communication on what was happening; it took almost 2+ hours to receive any cooked food whatsoever. The raw items came out 15-20 minutes into the meal, which meant that we sat for the majority of the time with no entrees and no updates. Keep in mind that one of the hot items we ordered was the clams and mussels - a steamed dish that was literally dumped into a bowl with a pile of raw garlic and fries on top. The broth had a strong alcohol taste that did not cook off. Super underwhelming and disappointing after the 2 hour wait. Moreover, dishes came out seemingly at random, so our table of 4 people ate at different times, with no coordination (I realize some items are family style here, but sandwiches are clearly not). It's not fun/convivial for everyone when some have already completed their meal, and others have not even taken a first bite of their entrees. Ultimately they did offer to take the bread and one tostada off or our bill. A concession, but by no means an acknowledgment of the unpleasant overall experience. I think we're going to give this place a long break. And maybe only come back on a weekday when they're hopefully less busy.

There is a combo order of both, but it includes the American marinated crab and an extra small live uni. With their recommendation, we opted for the Korean marinated crab and small uni to share with 2 adults and one kid. When the food came out, they gave us another live uni on the house and I was so happy because I didn't want to share mine! The food was so homey and delicious. The seafood pajeon was so loaded with all the seafood bits and the soy bean soup was the perfect palette cleanser. Service was great and they were so helpful to answer any questions we had. They gave us extra water for our little one and refilled our tea when it was a fourth full. They were so tentative and asked how we liked the food. We loved it. We also enjoyed the banchan!

Definitely recommend this place!…read more Service was very warm and welcoming, had such a pleasant dinner. We got the set menu A Combo and the portion was very generous. The marinated crab was very delicious, and spicy crab was even better, but the marinated crab is definitely higher quality, so if you want to get the best of both worlds order both or get the combo. When we finished ordering, appetizers came immediately and basically covered the whole table, and as a Korean restaurant with such warm hospitality I assume you can get more side dishes if you want, but we didn't want to waste any food. All dishes tasted great. The uni wasn't very surprising but it's still good, so if you are doing à la carte you can skip it. All in all a 5+ for the restaurant, also the restroom seems pretty clean so it's another plus for this smallish restaurant.

Fish King is an excellent place to get some fresh and delicious seafood. I've only ever ordered…read morefrom their "galley", which I think is what they call their kitchen, but I know they also sell raw seafood as well, in addition to a few other things in their small market. One of my favorite things to get at Fish King is the plate with the swordfish skewers. This dish is honestly so unique, and I haven't found anything like it anywhere else. It's basically two shish-kebab style sticks of seasoned swordfish, peppers, and tomatoes, and it's served with a few sides in addition to fried veggies and shrimp. I also really enjoy their tacos. They also have very generous servings of poke (I personally don't get the poke from here because it's already mixed in with raw onions and I don't like raw onion). Prices are all very reasonable--the swordfish plate I mentioned earlier is around $15 and a pretty large amount of food. Fish King does get pretty busy especially around mealtimes so it's better to order in advance and pick up so that you don't have to wait around as long. I think if you order in person, you can expect a 20-30 min wait when it's busy. There's a small lot on the side of the market and sometimes you can find street parking too. There are some tables on both ends of the market so you can dine in, it's very casual.

They know everything about their fish and even the things they sell that you want to use to make your fish. The place is always clean and fresh smelling. The prices are very fair. The wait for service is never long. They have the best salmon and white fish around. They clearly get fresh fish daily. We have never had a bad experience. They even have a place to eat and they make prepared food for you. It is wonderful. Parking is easy and the staff is the best so have fun and go there. You will not be disappointed.

The atmosphere was great, the service was excellent, and our server was very friendly and attentive. The oysters were incredibly fresh, the seafood soup was absolutely delicious, and the white fish with Japanese mushrooms was amazing. What a gem. Me and…read morefiancé had dinner late last night 5/15 @ 9pm, we did make a reservation at that time and checked in early and they sat us down 10 mins early ((looooved that)). We ordered the Crab cake, perfectly packed together where it wasn't too dense but gently molded. It was packed with umami and this refreshing citrus after taste..it was so damn good. French fries, were a must crispy tasty fries did not disappoint. Spanish octopus, cooked to perfection- lots of interesting flavors and textures we enjoyed. Lastly we shared the tacos (1 cod 1 shrimp), tasty fat tacos. Accompanied with fresh chips and the guac and salsa that was tasty. What really set it for us, was while we were wrapping up the meal. Me and fiancé were toasting to my late dad, today was his birthday. Well we asked for the check and planned to skip dessert. Well before we left our server had packed us the key lime pie to take home..just because. God lord, the timing of toasting my dad, and the generosity had me literally fighting tears. It really was a remarkable meal, we loved every bite. Our server whoever you are your f*cking wondeful and the team you are doing amazing work thank you.
