The wait on a Saturday night around 8PM was about an hour. The waiting area was pretty uncomfortable so we waited outside in the back. When we got seated, we ordered the 2-3 servings combo-- plenty of food and everything seemed pretty fresh. The service was great and our grill was constantly being checked. The entrance to the restaurant is a little confusing. I parked in their big lot and had to walk through the outside eating to go inside to get seated. Service was very fast and efficient. They helped cook and cut the seafood up and also added tips on how to enjoy the food more. The food was amazing. All the side dishes that were included with their combo set were great! Even at the end of the meal, they give you a noodle dish to eat! It's very refreshing. I loved the bay scallop soup it was so buttery and delicious. read more

Parking: backlot parking on Ingraham St. Would not recommend going through the front entrance anyways. Might be locked. Interior: Neptune's Locker vibes. 10/10. Service: we came for dinner and the service is great, no complaints, very attentive to the food and cooking it for us. Food: man... from start to finish we had the chief set for 3 people (im writing this review in a food coma btdubs), the cold noodles can be spicy for some. The entire seafood platter from clams, mussels, shrimp, scallop, mussels, and oysters. You get sides as well: sweet potatoes, corn cheese, seafood egg tofu, and kimchi+hot noodles as a finished. Came here to eat with my friends for my birthday for the first time and was amazed at how good the service was. The staff was very nice and the food was delicious! The staff did all the cooking so you do not have to cook/grill the food yourself. The ambiance and decorations were nice (pirate ship themed setting) and I just love how everything was super clean. I would definitely come back to this place to eat again! P.S. Check out their cute light bulbs. One says "love" inside. Very artsy :) read more

Clams and seafood galore!! Cool spot for all yummy shelled seafood in a kbbq style. The service was great! The staff helps you make sure all your food is cooked to appropriate temperatures and readiness. Seafood can be overdone very easily, and the fact the staff helps you navigate this delicate food is a relief. Everything was cooked just right. The interior is the restaurant makes you feel like you're in the hull of a ship with its wooden tones and dim lighting. The exterior eating area is nice and well-lit. Great experience. We got the master set with four adults. I thought the food was decent but wasn't anything outstanding. The small clams were a little fishy for me. The other stuff were fine. The set comes with one of every companion dish too. The clam soup that came at the end and the noodle that came at the end was delicious. They don't really have anything for kids. I brought my son with him. Good thing they have rice. One of the nice lady workers came and gave my son some seaweed to eat with his rice and he loved it! The rice took awhile to come since they make it fresh. If you want it, make sure you order it early. Definitely an experience to try. But I probably won't come back here since it's not really my type of food. read more

We got the chief set after a long day of traveling to LA and it was exactly what we needed. Savory, fresh, and unique seafood perfectly cooked by the servers with amazing banchan to go along. My favorite was the clams and abalone! They have a Thai , Korean, and soy wasabi sauce that paired perfectly with the food although the Thai sauce was my favorite. Great place, I think one and only clam cook korean style in Ktown LA, there used to be few but I think this one is the best Reasonable pricing, great customer service. This is the same restaurant as DaeBuDo. We were lucky to be seated inside, the atmosphere is very nice and cozy. The service is great, my server forgot our order but they quickly brought it out after realizing and compensated us with coke (or any drinks on the house). Waited a bit long because they didnt know we were there but overall experience was spectacular. The vibe of the restaurant is very mellow and makes you feel comfortable and warm. We got the chef special which comes with clams, abalone, scallops, etc, as well as some sides like korean ceviche, corn cheese, tteokbokki and steamed egg all cooked very well. It was relatively slow but the server was very attentive and stayed at our table the whole time to help us cook our seafood and converse with us. The seafood itself was very savory and had tons of flavor. Will definitely be back. read more

Our go to place when we crave seafood. Their crack sauce is amazing and definitely adds a nice touch to the flavor. We've tried other places and we would still choose this over any other places! So much food for just 2 people. We been here a couple times and we actually don't like the cold noodle dish, so we told the server and they changed it out for ramen for us instead and it just made this place so much better. First time here, the SERVICE was excellent. Our server did an exceptional job. We had the first combo with the sea eel. All were delicious, especially the eel was really good. If you're confused that this looks like DaeBuDo... you're not wrong! This is under new management so new name but same menu. Our group of 3 came here for dinner at 7 pm on a Saturday. $2 valet parking lot in the back but we got street parking cuz loading zone free after 6 pm. Entrance is in the back and noticed they have outdoor dining. Place wasn't crowded but we waited about 10 minutes for indoor seating cuz it was a bit chilly outside. We ordered the $170 combo and added order of eel. Got a couple beers and sojus w lemons. Food was amazingly fresh and cooked well! Everything was freshest caught cuz you can see the abalone moving as it was on the grill (unfortunately can't post a video here). We got live octopus (new experience for us!), big and little clams, oysters, mussels, abalone, hagfish, sweet potato (wrapped in foil), scallops w cheese, buttery scallop soup, sashimi noodle salad, steamed egg, tteokbeokki, veggie pancake, shrimp tempura and corn cheese! Also they end the meal w cooking knife cut noodles at the end so it was v refreshing. Staff cooks for you so you don't have to do any work! They were very attentive and answered all our questions we had. If you love kbbq and want only seafood, I'd totally recommend! 5/5 would come back! read more

Wanted to go next door but it was closed. So we stumbled into this place on new years. We were immediately seated and our server was Jefrey. He was extremely knowledgeable about everything. UGH, seafood barbecue .. *droools* Everything from start to finish was so delicious. There was a tank that stored all of the abalone and it was so cool knowing all of the seafood is super fresh. The employees here cook everything for you so you don't accidentally overcook anything. They provide a Thai seafood dipping sauce that I absolutely loved. There was quite a wait so I recommend putting your name down on Yelp's waitlist and then checking in with one of the hostesses when you arrive. read more

Make sure to actually use the glove they give you! I burnt my fingertips a few times because I was too excited and grabbed them as soon as they were ready. The servers do all the cooking of the food for you and they're really friendly and helpful. UPDATE We initially left a five-star review because our experience started well. However, the service and managerial behavior that followed were unacceptable. 1. Kalguksu Delay: The Kalguksu, part of the set menu, was supposed to be served at the end of our meal. After the crew finished cooking, no server checked on our table for over 25-30 minutes. When we finally brought it to their attention, it was served undercooked and inedible. 2. Poor Service: The outdoor seating area was not busy, with only five tables and multiple servers. Despite this, our table was neglected while others who arrived later received prompt service. 3. Manager's False and Insulting Comments: The manager falsely claimed that we were "moving quickly with strollers" to avoid being caught for not tipping. This is entirely untrue and offensive. We walked home slowly, as we live just two minutes away, and did not rush or attempt to "escape." Making such baseless accusations is not only unprofessional but also highly insulting. 4. Manager's Lack of Accountability: Instead of addressing the issue, the manager stood outside observing and did nothing to assist. As a leader, it is their responsibility to intervene and resolve complaints, not ignore them. 5. Promotional Drinks Misrepresentation: The "complimentary" soju was part of a Yelp promotion, not an apology for poor service. Offering to remove the charge for a Diet Coke instead of directly addressing the issue felt dismissive and insincere. 6. Team Neglect: A server mentioned they weren't assigned to our section, but it is the team's responsibility to ensure all customers are cared for. The lack of communication and accountability led to a disappointing experience. 7. No Tip Justification: Tipping is a reflection of the service provided. Given the neglect, delays, and unprofessional behavior, a tip was not warranted. I would give a zero star if I can! Our experience at Burnin Shell was disappointing overall. While the food itself was enjoyable, the shellfish portions were extremely small. The prefix menu includes side dishes that may help fill you up, but it felt like more of a filler than the main focus of the meal. The real issue, however, was the lack of proper customer service and the unprofessional behavior of the manager. When we voiced our concerns to the server, no action was taken to address our complaints. Instead, the manager left false information in her comments on my friend's recent truthful yelp review, twisting the narrative and making us feel humiliated. Her response made us look like horrible people for not tipping. When in reality, we received no service worth tipping for. He stayed with us throughout the meal, cooking and serving us the different seafood. Not sure if that's the norm but rather if it was because it was our first time. Didn't need to call for a reservation at 6pm on Sunday evening since plenty of seating was available inside as well as outside. We came to try the $35 Dine LA dinner menu and were shown a table immediately. Service was really great - they took our order quickly, came by to cook the meat, and food came out extremely quickly. Inside is clean and spacious. They gave us banchan almost as soon as we sat down, the potato being my favorite along with the marinated onions. I also love their red sauce to dip the meat in and they asked if we wanted steamed rice which was nice. The Korean style pork ribs came out first and they were seasoned perfectly and not drenched in thick messy sauce nor too heavy so it was a strong start to the meal. They then started cooking the beef belly, pork belly, and pork jowl and it was really nice not having to worry about getting the right cook on it since they took care of it. The gamjatang was very substantial with a hefty pork bone with plenty of meat on it and a giant potato chunk. For those sensitive to spice, it wasn't overly spicy at all either and was a great savory addition to the meal. The red shrimp zucchini pancake was nice and crispy on the outside and had incredible shrimp flavor that we could smell before taking a bite. The sauce it came with paired nicely as well. For $35, the dine LA menu was incredibly worth it, from great food to amazing service, and we even had leftovers. I recommended to multiple friends already.

All tables except the 5 in the middle of the room (granted these 5 tables were all 6 person tables) were 4 person tables and we couldn't logistically sit 3 of us at any without 1 person facing a wall. So when the guy points at a 4 top where 1 of us is facing the wall, we asked to sit at the 6 top and all face the screen. His reply "No". We continued to ask and he stuck with no. Now here's the kicker! There were 2 girls (Korean I assume) sitting comfortably at a 6 top eating and both facing the screen. So.... What you're saying is if we spoke Korean or were Korean we would have been seated comfortably and facing the screen?? Cool! Remember, place was empty aside from 3 tables taken and the smallest party of 2 was sitting at the 6 person table. We came to eat and instead we left and found a way better Korean restaurant to eat and watch. Guess things work out!

But Genwa surprised me. I ordered the mushroom assortment and it was actually really good. The only downside was how oily it was. There was a lot of oil on the skillet which was a bit much for me. I also noticed that if I didn't move the mushrooms off the skillet quickly they would char and turn black. Once I realized that was happening, I started moving them to my plate sooner and it was fine. The banchan variety here is great, probably the highlight of the meal. Not a place I'd go to often but I'd come back every few years.

We only ordered two servings of pork galbi, but the portion was very generous, and the banchan came out nicely as well. The inside is not fancy or trendy, but it was clean and had that familiar classic K-town Korean BBQ restaurant feel. The pork galbi was exactly what I wanted. It was just the right amount of sweet and savory, making it perfect both as a drinking food and with a bowl of rice. The meat was also nicely thick, so it felt very satisfying. The service was also excellent. I did not get the name of the lady who helped grill our meat, but she was incredibly kind and attentive. She had great timing and even brought things before we had to ask, which made the whole meal feel very comfortable. Overall, great food, generous portions, and amazing service. I would definitely come back for the pork galbi.

The bar is small, so I agree with another reviewer who said to maybe call ahead to see if you can book a table or check if there's room. But it's decorated so cute inside. Food: We loved everything we ordered! We got the fries, dak ddongjip, spicy fishcake soup and kimchi samgyupsal. Next time I want to try the bossam and army stew. My husband's favorite was the kimchi samgyupsal. Mine was the dak ddongjip. The service was so great, very attentive and the owner seems so sweet and engaging. We look forward to returning in the very near future.
