I'm not usually a fan of ribs, but the ribs here were great! I visited this restaurant with some friends in Ktown and our experience here was pretty good. We got the Hamjipark Special Combo (good for 3-4 people) which comes with prime beef belly, thin sliced pork belly, pork jowl, grilled pork back ribs, your choice of stew, rice, salad, and your choice of two sodas or one soju. The deal was good for my group of 4 guys and we all left feeling full. Everything was delicious! I especially loved the ribs which were seasoned well, had a nice charred flavor, meaty, and weren't dry. The service here was great and attentive! The servers cook the meats in front of you, so you don't have to worry about cooking which is nice. This place is good for larger parties, but you may need to wait a bit. For parking, it's a tough area and street parking available only. Overall, a solid KBBQ place in Ktown and I would come back just for the ribs! Came here for dine LA with their $35/person menu for dinner and I'll have to say wow this was such a great deal. Not only was I able to taste the specialty of the pork ribs, but along with all their other dishes too. The gamjatang had incredible fall off the bone and tender meat, the pancake was super delicious as well. The service was also very great as well since they cook the raw meat for you on the grill too and were very attentive with their services. The dining area was also not very cramped and spacious enough to enjoy a nice casual dinner here and it was also well lit. I came during their dine LA promotion, but have been a customer for years! All of the different meats were delicious and high quality. The dine LA set came with 4 different meats (as seen in the picture), pork bone and potato stew, shrimp pancake, different side dishes, and rice. Was surprised to hear it back so quickly under new management after its closure a few months ago. It's a place my friend and I really enjoyed coming to so it's great someone picked up the torch to keep it open. We came on Memorial Day evening at around 6PM, wasn't too packed, we got a table after a short wait not because of a full restaurant but because staff needed a bit of time to set up. Place seemed a little understaffed with slightly long waits, forgetting our drink order and not mixing the fried rice. Interior of the restaurant is almost identical down to the enclosed outside seating. Menu seemed larger with new dishes but maintained the essentials. We ordered the pork ribs, kimchi fried rice and pork rib soup and the flavors seemed similar enough as before to me. I've been coming to Ham Ji Park since college (so 10 years). I was around for its peak when it expanded to Buena Park and Rowland Heights and for when it scaled back down to its 2 LA locations. I was so sad when it closed down and cautiously optimistic when it re-opened. Yes the new owners are part of that Ktown conglomerate of upscale Korean restaurants (both beloved and not), but they promised Ham Ji Park would feel the same. Did they deliver on that promise? Well...the AI posters and menu certainly hurt the vibe the place had, but for the food: Gamjatang - I embarrassingly never had the original so I can't compare it. But it was very flavorful and good. Lots of tables still ordered it and my friend who loves Gamjatang said it was a solid rendition of it. Kimchi fried rice - not as good unfortunately mainly because they dumped at our table. They used to mix it for you as soon as it got to your table, but here they left it and didn't tell us to mix it. I told my friends we should mix it immediately, but one of my friends thought we should wait because maybe the waiter wanted the rice to get crisper before mixing it. In the end my friends caved and mixed it and it was more burnt than crispy. Would've appreciated the instruction because in the 10+ years I've been going to Ham Ji Park, they always mixed it in front of you. Pork ribs - thankfully this was the same! And is 100% the reason I'll keep coming back to even this new Ham Ji Park. So if this was your favorite, you'll be pleased that it's the same, delicious marinade. Overall, I'd come back, but maybe I'll give it some more time to grow into itself? They have a lot of to-go orders so we didn't have to wait for a seat, but we had to wait for food and the staff seemed really overwhelmed by that. Really popular spot in K-Town known for its BBQ pork ribs. You will definitely be waiting for a seat here. Parking is hell around parts, but fortunately there's valet parking in a structure just around the corner. Inside is spacious, communal and clean, with each table having their own typical grilling stations. Ordered the following: - Beef belly - 7.5/10: pretty good. Thinly sliced. Although they do give you various banchan, I really wish they had offered some sort of dip for the beef, like a ponzu sauce or salt. - BBQ pork ribs - 7.5/10: This is what everyone orders. Large cuts of ribs that are cooked in the kitchen and sauced up pretty well. Most pieces were on the bone. The ones that weren't were a tad bit dry, unfortunately. Pretty good spot for Korean BBQ. My only complaint is that they didn't have any kimchee. At all. I thought that was a bit unusual. Another little gripe is their server neglected our cooking station. I know in most BBQ spots, the servers cook your food for you, but ours never came back after dumping the meat off. We had to flag him down to turn the stove off because our meat was burning. I was a huge fan of the old Hamjipark - I literally went dozens of times over the years, and it was my top 5 favorite place in Koreatown. When they said they were closing, I ate at the Pico location twice before they "closed." So I was super excited to hear they were reopening under new owners but with the same (but modified) menu. I came on a Saturday night, and it wasn't too busy. Looks like they remodeled the inside to look more upscale, but it's still the same overall vibe of the old place. I was with two buddies, and we ordered what Hamjipark was always known for -- the pork neck stew (gamjatang) and the pork ribs. The Gamjatang ---- I've tried every gamjatang place in LA, and the old Hamjipark was my favorite by far. When the big bowl of soup and pork neck came, I was pumped because it looked the same. HOW DISAPPOINTED WAS I WHEN I TRIED THE SOUP AND IT DID NOT TASTE THE SAME. It lacks the depth of flavor of the old recipe. It's like drinking Diet Coke after you've been drinking Coke for many years. The meat on the pork bones was still good, but the broth was really disappointing. We brought this up with the server, and he admitted a few other former patrons had agreed. The pork ribs --- these were much better and tasted about the same as the old recipe. The onions underneath were a bit undercooked for my liking, but the marinade and cook on the ribs was spot on. Until they change the broth in their soup, I'd rather order two portions of the ribs instead of the disappointing gamjatang. They did add a few new menu items, which I may come back to try. However, I will forever mourn the death of the classic Hamjipark gamjatang. read more

I believe it's under new ownership, but they kept some of the items like the grilled pork ribs and the spicy pork bone stew. Those 2 are my favorite dishes, and it didn't disappoint. The meats were tender, and flavor was good! I also tried the pork ribs kimchi stew. The ribs were tender and fall apart! If you're not a big kimchi fan, you might not like this dish because the tangy kimchi flavor was strong. Our server was friendly and helpful. Sandeomi Hamjibak is back, and it still lives up to its reputation in K-Town. The pork ribs are definitely the highlight--perfectly charred with that classic sweet and smoky flavor. The kimchi pork stew was absolutely amazing, and the kimchi itself was so good that my kids finished a whole bowl of rice in no time. We went with the kids, so we didn't try the spicy chili paste flavor this time, but I'd definitely want to try it next visit. Since they recently reopened, a few menu items weren't available yet (like the kimchi stone pot rice and kimchi cheese stone pot rice), which was a bit disappointing--but understandable. I was completely full when I came here so I didn't eat much. I told my friend about this place and how it reopened under new ownership. My goal? See if they kept the recipe identical to when it was opened previously by the grandma who cooked here for decades. The verdict: YES. The recipe and formula was conserved and all is good in the world. This place has the best Korean pork ribs you can find in LA. The pork neck soup is absolutely phenomenal as well. I've come here since I was 16 when my mom introduced me to this place and came back for years. I love this place. The service is as attentive as it used to be. The food is as amazing as it always was, top tier. And the portion sizes are the same too. Everything essential about this place was preserved, but they did add a few new items. The only downside? In the past, if you wanted more broth, they would pour it out for you without a worry in the world. You could even ask for more broth like 2 minutes before you planned to leave and pack up to go boxes like no tomorrow. That's how much the staff loved their customers... But not anymore... I guess that's what happens when someone has to spend a fortune to buy a formula and a name from someone else to keep the legacy... No more service to the peoples... but it's ok. I just drove by this restaurant thinking that they had retired and closed it. It's open! I am so happy to see this and hope that it is still being operated by the original owners. The park next to is incredible as is just about everything else on this menu. Have it with beer and good friends. I will be making my way back there as soon as possible. Used to go to Ham Ji Park in Buena Park. It was one of my favorite places to go for Korean ribs. Sadly, it closed. Went to the Los Angeles location, which I believe was the original restaurant. It was good but not as good as Buena Park. Went again just the other day and found out there was a name change-guess that means change in ownership? Now that I live in San Diego, I look forward to coming to this restaurant because every visit feels like coming home. Found a giant moth in my salad half way through the bowl. I immediately asked to speK with manager. Before the manager came over, employee took my plate to show the manager. I was close enough to see and hear the interaction. The manager appeared to gesture wither her hand a d said something to the effort of "It probably flew in while it was flying around." What shocked me was not just finding an insect in my food, but how casually the situation seemed to be treated. No one appeared concerned about the fact that I had eaten a significant portion of the salad before discovering the moth. I had to ask for the manager a second time before she finly came to my table. When she di, the response was simply " I'm sorry" there was no sense of urgency, no meaningful explanation, and no effort to reassure me that the issue would be taken seriously. Insects can occasionally m makeend up in restaurants, but the management's response to a food safety concern says everything about how a business is operates. Based on what I personally witnessed, the handling of this situation was dismissive, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. This was one of the worst customer service experience I have had at a restaurant. I will not be returning and cannot recommend this place to others. read more

My family and I love Hamjibak! We used to get takeout from there almost every week. When they announced they were closing, we were genuinely so sad because there really is no place like Hamjibak.
