Spicy chicken bibimbap. Beef is not pictured (they forgot to add it until I realized and told them)

5/7 I tried a stone bowl bibimbap with the spicy beef bulgogi and the spicy chicken. I don't have enough experience judging the quality of bibimbap so I may update this review in the future. With that said, the bulgogi tasted great and the chicken was good. I do wish the rice on the edges touching the stone were crispier, though. My recc is to go for the spicy beef bulgogi on your bibimbap and get a stone bowl. I think it's worth the price.

Appetizer - Mandoo (we already ate two)

Tried ordering from GrubHub (at 6:53p) but it was too late so I just stopped by in-person and placed a to-go order. The restaurant was practically empty but you could eat in the dining area if you wanted. The menu is short and sweet but gives several options to choose from. I placed an order for two regular size Build Your Own bowls all the way with kimchi rice and one order of mandoo (the chicken dumplings). The spicy garlic pork was excellent. The regular garlic pork and bulgogi were good as well but the spicy meat was my preferred protein. I also recommend getting the spicy sesame sauce on the side to go with your bowl. It has a nice robust flavor but doesn't overpower the other bowl components. I loved the crispy Mandoo dumplings. They were a little soggy by the time I got home but after I threw them in the air fryer for a minute or two, they were perfect. If you're an average eater, the regular bowl is enough for dinner and lunch the following day. It also reheated well in the microwave.

You can select items what you want and make your own bowl using kiosk. It is very fast. But

They changed the menu! No more stone bowl option. VERY limited ingredients and the only egg you get is scrambled. Rice was cold and a soggy mess. No choice on sauces and servings are much smaller. Every thing is served in a plastic bowl, plastic utensils, no chopsticks. Plastic water cup ( you have to ask for it). Very disappointing. It was one of my favorite restaurants but it's completely off my list now.

$1 more expensive than other locations :(

My family has sort of been on a Burning Rice kick as of late, we've been to three of their locations in the last month or so, and of course when Plano opened we had to go since it's closer to our house. Sadly, I think it's best to go to one of their other locations, Richardson being my favorite so far. My main gripe is that the stone pot and ramen both cost $1 more than at other locations. I understand that this is a fairly big space in a pricey location, but $12 for the stone pot isn't a great value imo. We ordered a spicy bulgogi bowl and a vegetable broth ramen. The bowl was just okay, meat was a bit overcooked and dry. The ramen was pretty interesting, though, because most vegetable ramen I've seen has a clear broth or it's just miso, but this vegetable broth was creamy like a tonkatsu without the meat flavoring. It was probably more intriguing than delicious, but it was better than the bowl. I know this intersection is difficult for restaurants and while I was hyped to have Burning Rice nearby, this isn't up to par on quality or price as the other locations. Quality I can give them the benefit of the doubt for it being their first week, but price is a hard sell.

Self service. Order from a kiosk and grab drinks. Clean front place. Restroom smells horrible and very dirty. Smells like urine on floor. Vents above full of dust. Please sanitize your restaurant.

Burning Rice is like Korean Chipotle and I'm here for it. I like that you have a lot of say over exactly what goes into your bowl, since I'm kind of a picky eater. They also have pan seared tofu for you vegetarians out there! The flavors are very delicious and the portions are pretty good. I usually buy a kids bowl and it's the perfect size for me! (For reference, I eat half a Chipotle bowl for one meal.) Pog.

This place is delicious!! They serve different variations of bibimbop (only) and let you build your own! Let me tell you I was pleasantly surprised at how all the flavors and textures married so well together. The serving size is perfect, not too little and not too much. The restaurant is clean and protected for covid. I would definitely come again!

Haven't been in a while, and chose the hot stone bowl with beef bulging and an assortment of veggies. $12 - great potion. I got the spicy soy sauce on the side and dipped a few bites in there. I do miss the miso soup and the salad - a necessary cut back during Covid. But great food, super clean restaurant and friendly staff.

Expected authentic Korean bibim rice but too soggy and red pepper paste taste is too heavy which Korean doesn't use that taste.

We got the baby octopus bibimbap with the steamed egg and bulgogi bibimbap with the tofu soup. The banchan was also really fresh and the kimchi really stood out. The portions were huge! I love that the bibimbap comes out on a flat sizzling pan to maximize the crunchy rice you get from it. The baby octopus was delicious and had great flavor. The steamed egg had a spongy texture which and was also really flavorful. The tofu soup was not as thick as some that you might get but it had a really good savory flavor that you can taste in the soup. It was overall a real great experience and a great value if you're going at lunch. Definitely adding to our regular rotation.

Even before the star of the meal appeared, kudos to the smattering of banchan that came out: sprouts, cucumber kimchi, sweet potato, mini meat patties, kimchi, steamed egg, tofu soup, salad greens seasoned, cheese + corn... I hope I didn't miss any! The mushroom bibimbap is flavorful! We've never had this particular bibimbap before and man it goes well with the meat. Beef rib was tender and nice. We wanted it a bit rare :) and it was delish! Dipping sauce was nice but honestly doesn't need it! Oh and the grilled mushroom is good with it. Pork belly was the star of the meal. Had it with 2 week aged grilled kimchi (so special!!) and we got samjang with it, yummm. We were stuffed to the rim and had to take a little box of leftovers home. We were so touched with a little desert rice drink at the end, really rounded out the meal and experience all together. A+ for the service. Amazing job and everything grilled to perfection.

I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant with the large mural of a Hawaiian beach and simple island decor peppered throughout. The restaurant is also very clean. I also was fairly happy with the portion sizes for the chicken dishes. The vegetables in the Hawaiian plates were cooked very well and were really good complements with the lunch meals. What didn't work for me: The decoration alone is where this stopped feeling like a Hawaiian restaurant. The Hawaiian plates felt more Asian inspired rather than true Hawaiian inspired. The flavor is excellent, don't get me wrong, but I felt it was a bit of an identity crisis. The Beef BBQ short rib pieces were fatty and overcooked. I had only a few tender bites of beef but the rest was so chewy and fatty that I had to spit it out. Also only had 6-7 pieces of short rib for a $20 plate which I didn't really feel was worth it. The chicken katsu was crispy however I didn't care for the quality of the chicken meat. It was very stringy and tough to bite through in some areas. I was very much looking forward to the macaroni salad but it was just fine. I had high hopes for this one but it just wasn't creamy enough to blow me away. If you have ever visited a Hawaiian island and ever felt like you needed a fix of that memorable vacation, this place won't bring you back to those island memories but you will still be treated very well from a very kind staff. Their attitude is very aloha however I hope one day I can take a bite of their meal and be transported back to island vibes. I would recommend this place if you want solid Asian flavors, but not Hawaiian island specific flavors.

You know how sometimes they bring a roll to the table for the table to share? Not here boyeeeee Each person gets their own roll. I don't even know how to explain this heavenly bread. It truly is the best beard I have ever had before. I would come eat here again JUST FOR THE BREAD. The crab cake is out of this world. Huge jumbo clumps. Also comes with a variety of sauces. The wasabi one was our favorite. You must order the crab cake! My husband got the ribeye rare and said it was the best steak he has had, and he eats a ton of steak. I got their off menu item of carne asada tacos. The meat was sooooo tender. They don't use flank steak they use a tenderloin and it just melts. The mushrooms were Devine.
