We spent most of our night laughing together and with the bartenders, eating great food, and sipping on excellent drinks. Since I take photos of my food, it took almost 45 minutes to get our food. Being that we're off-peak time (since everyone was talking about getting "cut" for the evening), the food took a long time. There was hardly anybody there, and people who sat behind me got there after us, and by the time we got our food, they were already done with their dinner and left. We were in town for business and an early dinner - 5 pm - someone recommended this location. We had 6 people, there were lots of open tables (they were not busy and had plenty of staff) but our water and drinks were constantly empty. Skip the French dip, it's on regular toast and there was maybe a square inch of cheese - completely fell apart. The waitress told us the kitchen was moving slowly, and hoped we understood. That was fine since we were in no hurry. Our food was delicious as usual. From the brunch menu I ordered the chicken and waffles. A cheeseburger was ordered substituting a side salad for the fries. The side salad was the size of a dinner salad and very good. It's little wonder they're struggling. Went for dinner tonight; sat at the bar. The most unwelcoming bartender ever! Not even worth going through all the details. Couldn't keep track of orders, salmon was so salty i had to scrape the top off, never once asked how the meal was. To top it off, they charge $19 for a salad with salmon and $18 if you add salmon to a house salad. ( which is a more interesting salad!). Clearly, $1 is nothing, but it's a poor look. We got a reservation for 6 people at 7pm on a Friday, 1 hour before, which is amazing because everything is always jammed packed. They have complimentary valet which is nice. They also brought our table glasses of champagne because we were there celebrating a graduation, and was so nice! The restaurant is in a house that was converted and added onto. Collectively the Burntwoods I have gone to in the area have significant issues with cleanliness not just in the restaurant but also with their silverware. The clean silverware is not just a Burntwood issue but a current industry issue. Standards have gone down, and the more I go out to restaurants the more I feel I can do a better job making the same meals at home. It should be the opposite, people should want to go out more and enjoy themselves. The decline in restaurants as a whole began before Covid, and Covid itself just accelerated the issue. Good customer service has also taken a hit, with some hires acting more like they don't want to be there. Food isn't just something we eat but also an art form. Today is my anniversary. My wife Angie wanted to go to M Italian in Chagrin Falls. I tried to talk her into trying Jojo's, but she was adamant about going to M Italian. Our sitter was late so we had to cancel our reservation and the next time was too late. Angie was bummed. She started being bratty about picking another place. I chose Burntwood Tavern in Chagrin Falls . The thing is, I basically had to pass a Burntwood to go to the one in Chagrin Falls. I wanted the backdrop of the falls, to take a walk with my wife, and to have some drinks at M Bar by the fire pit. As we get to Burntwood and I pull up to valet, the valet seems busy with another car and was ignoring us. I pull back into the lot to see if I can pull into a spot, nothing. I pull back up and stop near valet. "How are you Sir?" Ignores me. Another car pulls up. He gives the car a ticket and drives it in front of me, goes back to valet stand. Now I'm getting out of the car walking to him. "Hello Sir?" He responds "Hey man, I don't have anymore spots." I'm almost in shock, hand shaking, getting in my car not knowing what to do. As I'm contemplating how to handle this, the valet tickets another car for parking. My wife says "I think I need to go in and say something." I agree with her and she goes in. She later comes out with a manager, and is having a conversation. After a while, I get out of my car and join them. The manager asks me and my wife to let him make it up to us by giving us some good food and drinks in the back on the patio (in the back bro...anywhere but in the back smh.) I explained to him what happened and told him that I'm no longer comfortable eating there. He assured me that "Sean (I believe that's his name) is one of our best employees on Fridays and Saturdays here at the valet. He treats our customers well." I told him "Well, Sean seems to have issue with your Black customers." What was so revealing is that he didn't question or deny it, he almost nodded in agreement. He almost pleaded to give them a chance and let him show us a good time. I told him that we were leaving because I wouldn't be able to forget that and I wouldn't enjoy my anniversary. He told me he wasn't gonna argue with me. I told him that it was no need to argue because I didn't want to spend my money or my time at a place that hired people like Sean. I couldn't accept the buyout. I honestly have never been more humiliated in my life. My biggest issue with the manager was that he never even talked to Sean. It was like he knew it happened and he was just trying to protect him. He didn't ask Sean if it happened, he didn't seem shocked by it. When you do that, you're encouraging it. You can never get my money and neither can any business that you're affiliated with get my money. I'm not asking anything from anyone reading this. I'm just sharing my experience. Decided on a whim to try a new place today for lunch,it was a mistake. The waitstaff was good, the issue primarily is the kitchen. We ordered basically 3 appetizers and a burger, all 4 arrived 30 minutes later. The soup was cold, the calamari was tough and the rest was mediocre at best. I have been to numerous different locations of Burntwood but I love this location. I first went there when we moved to the east side and the bar tender was so welcoming that we ended up just eating our whole meal at the bar that is a statement piece right when you walk through the front doors. The second time I went with a group of girlfriends for a catch up. I also did go there for a rehearsal dinner in their private room that is so comfortable and the perfect size for a small get together! The service was great and the staff was so attentive. Recently, my husband and I went there after the restaurants reopened from covid. We sat on the patio and the staff was clean, organized, prepared, and made us feel comfortable during the difficult times we are facing. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is the staff is amazing, but the food seems to be over cooked numerous times I have gone. That would be my only negative. Unfortunately not a great review. Thursday night my friend and I sat at the bar for dinner and drinks. We were the only people at the bar and the restaurant had two or three tables sat, the rest of the place was empty. The female bartender brought a Pinot Grigio instead oh the requested Pinot Noir. Our dinner took an embarrassingly long time. I understand things happen but what I don't like is when the issue isn't addressed by the bartender or better yet, the manager but that didn't happen so we ordered a 2nd glass of wine which never came. Our food was delivered by another employee so we asked her for the wine, but again, no wine. We sat there with our dinner while we waited a long time for someone to go fetch silverware. No one came out to acknowledge the tardiness of our dinner, no one did a quality check. When the two salmon dinners came out, one was completely dry and the other one was perfectly cooked to the requested medium temperature. When we originally sat down I told the Bartender we would be having dinner and drinks at the bar, she should've given us silverware at that time or when we ordered. On June 26,2023 my husband and I went to Burntwood to celebrate my B.D. Everyone there has a great positive attitude. They are friendly and polite and knowledgeable about the menu. My husband had the firecracker shrimp which was delicious. I had the chicken sliders and they were fantastic. We shared a wedge salad , which it was one of the best I have ever had. Our server was Savannah, who was pleasant, friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu with some recommendations. Next time we go there I will ask to have a table in her area. My wife and I stepped out of her comfort zone and drove to chagrin falls to the original burntwood tavern. as soon as you get there finding a parking spot is challenging but that's okay because they have complimentary valet win-win. as soon as you get inside you'll notice that it has exposed beams very rustic and has almost a family room style couch with end table fireplace and TV reminds me of my own house kind of didn't want to leave LOL our server was sweet I had to dortmunder gold my wife had two glasses of wine she ordered the lobster ravioli I had the chicken chop salad with a good amount of chicken my wife said there was a lot of lobster in her lobster ravioli. the only thing missing was they normally bring out these pretzel roll things and the manager came to our table to check on us which is unusual in today's day and age at restaurants and we told him we were missing pretzel rolls and he scurried off and got us some pretzel rolls right away! they did have a acoustic singer there and my experience with live music is is normally about 20 decibels louder than it needs to be in order to carry on a conversation. But he was actually really really good I just wish you wasn't so loud. Maybe I'm just an old fart now. lastly we got the tiramisu which came in this little baby mug it was actually a very small portion I kind of wish it was a little larger. What a beautiful place full of friendly GENEROUS staff and management. We had just come into town after a particularly rough couple of days, and (without a reservation) were promptly and politely greeted by the restaurant manager Bill ( a Burt Reynolds lookalike!) Bill seated us right away, and then brought us complimentary Champagne! It was Divine. We ordered the Pierogies and Shrimp tacos to start, and split the Burntwood Burger. Everything was AMAZING! A very pleasant surprise as I think the few Chagrin Falls destinations leave a bit to be desired. I hit this at happy hour - highly recommend! I got the shrimp tacos and **tuna nachos** for 6.50 each - OMG. Well worth a trip out there. Ordered cocktails - bartender did not make the drinks we ordered. I had to send mine back twice. My husband also ordered a beer before our dinner arrived. The server brought it to him after we finished our meal. The server brought my 14-year old daughter's soft drink in a styrofoam cup, as if she might spill it. No children's menu available because they ran out of paper to print them on. Server did not know what was on the children's menu (I looked it up online).
