Our group of two couples had a great double date night at Bursa. The ambiance is one of a neighborhood staple with mixed groups all enjoying a nice evening. This was our first time and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality and presentation of the food. For appetizers, we enjoyed the mezze platter (all of the salads/dips were delicious), falafel and dolmas. For entrees, the rack of lamb was the standout dish -- excellent quality meat and cooked perfectly, paired with delicious rice. Two of us got the "moussaka," which I have to say was not at all what I would consider a moussaka, though it was still good. It had no meat and came in a giant bowl topped with tomato sauce. For dessert we all split the kunefe and chocolate cake that were both tasty and hit the spot. The service was good throughout and we always had what we needed. My wife and I were enjoying the afternoon in the West Portal area and thought about getting an early dinner at Bursa. We'd dined these years ago while on vacation here and had fond memories of the experience. They have parklet dining which made it possible to bring our dog along :) My wife is vegetarian and ordered the Hummus, Red Lentil Soup and Greek Salad. She enjoyed all her choices. I wanted to experience a variety and had the Mixed Grill with Chicken Kabob, Lamb Kabob, Kofte (ground beef and lamb) Kabob and a Rack of Lamb. I really liked the Rack of Lamb and Kofte the most. Only negative is i was a little dispointed in the cooking of the meat especially the lamb that was overcooked, it could totally have been a one off. I loved our experience here! We popped in for lunch after visiting some friends nearby, almost as an afterthought. The environment struck a nice balance of cute and upscale, and within moments of sitting down, we began talking about when we would come back. We began with appetizers, cigars and some hummus. The cigars were filled with spinach (expected) but with goat cheese rather than feta, which gave it a softer and sweeter flavor than we expected - this is not spanakopita as expected and was lovely. The hummus was also unique, with a somewhat smokier flavor than we expected, and served with ample pieces of flattened pita (rather than veggies, for which I have no use with hummus). For our meals, my gf ordered the kofte kabab and I ordered the beyti. As soon as our food arrived, we realized that 1) we did not need two entrees, and 2) I would be having leftovers for breakfast. The kababs were excellent, perfectly cooked and seasoned (and obviously well portioned) and went well with hummus (as if anything doesn't go well with hummus). My beyti was also good. Although it had the same meat as the kabab (which our waiter confirmed was what we wanted - and we did), the general flavor and overall presentation was different - and a little more artistic. Today was abit of a heatwave and when the weather is good, there will be people about especially as SF reopens. Lovely seeing businesses thriving and Bursa was packed with people during our lunch. Staff wore mask & gloves. A simple lunch menu where we ordered kebabs which came with salad & rice and a yogurt sauce for $14. The meal was nice and light and as expected from a kebab. Quality food with huge portions with such a homey vibe! It's quite loud inside, but a fun atmosphere. Don't miss out on the hummus! Hadn't been there since BC. This time everything was flavorless. The tomato and cucumber salad was chopped too fine and had no seasoning. The sauce accompanying my kofta was watery, very thin and flavorless. Everything needed salt. The service was fine but the quality seems to have gone down. read more

This place is highly recommended! Everytime I go here it's always a great experience from the food to the staff who are very nice, courteous, and professional. The vibe inside is chill, and with some tasty appetizers like falafel and feta prawns accompanied by a glass of wine and some smooth background music you're good to go. The rack of lamb is my go-to but next time I gotta try the garlic salmon which sounded very good. The zatar pistachio rice is extra fire! The baklava is some of the best I've had, if not the best! To start with a confession, the first time I went to Bursa, it didn't register. We went for dinner and I can hardly remember what I ate. It may just have been that I was excited about meeting a friend's baby for the first time so the food experience fell on the way side! But I am happy to report that we went back recently for lunch and fell in love with this place. My fiancé and I went here on a Friday for our weekly Friday lunch dates :-) and it was fairly busy. We ordered from the lunch menu (which is very affordable for SF). I got the chicken kebab with arugula salad and my fiancé got a Adana kebab wrap with fries. We could not believe how good everything was. The chicken kebabs were moist and hot, served on a bed of very nicely flavored rice. The arugula salad was fresh and bright - a really great complement to the richness of the rice. Having said that, the Adana kebab wrap was in another level of deliciousness. Hands down the BEST kebab wrap I have had. The Adana kebab is crumbled, soft and nicely spicy - spread out well in those warm fluffy wraps with pickles that make the wrap so juicy. The fries were very well made. Crisp on the outside and fluffy and moist in the inside. We loved it so much so that we went the next Friday and I got the Adana kebab wraps too! Met a friend for dinner here last night. They don't take reservations but there was seating available on Monday at 6:30pm. I didn't want to be that annoying friend, so there are no pictures of the food.... We had the yogurt/feta appetizer, she had the salmon entree and I had the chicken kabob. For main course, I had the Salmon with lemon avocado sauce. The fish was cooked well done to my preference. I would have preferred more sauce but flavor was good. As a big fan of Mediterranean food. I was pleased to know that the prices reflect how good the meals and customer service was. The food takes a while to come out. But as a lot of people do not understand good food takes time, especially if it's fresh and made to order. The ambience was quiet and reserved but it was peaceful and tranquil nonetheless. I had the kebab mixed plate which was simply superb. I enjoyed also the lamb lollipop they included in the meal. I shared the halibut with my father because he wanted to try some of my meat platter hehehe . Normally he doesn't share at all. The humus plate was very authentic and really good as well. A lot of my Arabic friends/family boasted about this spot and I tried it. It was everything they built it up to be. I had a great time and the service was super friendly. Good spot! I wasn't really in the mood for Mediterranean food the day we came here for lunch, but honestly my mind was changed! Sat outside because dogs always, so can't say anything about the interior - never saw it. We came in the late afternoon and there were still quite a bit of people here, so I can see this place normally being super busy. But, we didn't have to wait for a table. The outdoor seating area is the typical COVID-era extension that many city restaurants added during the height of the pandemic. There were warmers outside so we stayed nice and comfortable. We started the meal with a sampler plate of various dips - hummus (excellent!), haydari, baba ganouj, ezme eggplant, mercimek kofte, and dolmas. Everything was fresh, homemade, and flavorful! The flat bread served with the dips is very addicting. It was fun trying the dips by themselves or mixing different combinations together. Highly recommend starting with that sampler plate. For two reasons - one, it was delicious, but two, it took a long time for the main courses to come out. I do know that their fryer was broken that day so maybe that factored into things. Not a huge problem for me since I had something to tide me over. The service was otherwise fairly attentive and everyone was nice. Since the fryer was broken, I didn't get to try their falafel, which I was really looking forward to because I haven't really had a falafel that I love yet. It can be hard to find a good one! Instead, I ordered the citrus chicken wrap. I liked it! The chicken did have light, lemon-y notes and the parsley arugula aioli brought it all together. For the lunch value, Bursa knocks it out of the park. There's not a whole lot going on in West Portal. But if you find yourself in this district, Bursa is a damn good option for a lunch stop. Let's talk about the space; Colorful. Cozy. Homey. Very vintage-like. The decor is quite striking as is the ambience. I felt right at home here. It's not the largest restaurant, but still really comfortable. Service was spot on from the moment that I walked in the door. You can tell that these people really pride themselves on hospitality and it was well received. As previously mentioned, the lunch specials are quite the steal here. I ordered their grilled shrimp kebab lunch plate and basically scraped it clean. It was a very simple dish but it was executed perfectly. The shrimp were large, plump, and charred to a tee. Excellent flavors on this and they were clearly grilled to perfection. The salad and rice were simple but perfect. The dressing wasn't too overpowering for the green salad. It was a light lunch that was enjoyable and also filling. I mean really... I was super impressed by all aspects of this meal. Granted it was only lunch, but if this is my first impression, I already know that their dinner will be exquisite. I don't often find myself in this part of the city, but now I will make it a point to stop by Bursa for dinner the next time that I'm in town. I know that I'll be in for a real treat. read more

It was my second time here . This time I ordered Baba ghanoush and beef kebab . Baba ghanoush was not very good . I believe if I am coming next time here , I shouldn't order any of their appetizers. I'm a regular here for a reason: always fresh, great service and friendly servers, and dependably good food of the same high-quality, year after year. I often order the chicken or kofte kebab plate, but just discovered the sautéed chicken with eggplant, to which I'm now pleasantly addicted. I discovered ezme (eggplant appetizer) at Bursa, and also can't get enough of their Mediterranean mezze (combo appetizer) platter: everything on it is exceptionally well-prepared, freshly made, and delicious, right down to the freshly baked and grilled Mediterranean flatbread that comes with it. Swung by for a late lunch on Saturday and there were still a good amount of people eating inside as well as on their outdoor deck. They checked proof of vaccination and seated us promptly. My spicy adana (ground beef and lamb) wrap was delicious. It definitely had a kick but isn't so spicy that you need water. The sauce and veggies in the wrap blended well with the adana. The fries were great too! My husband order the kofte kebab. The meat was similar in texture to the adana since it is also ground beef and lamb. The orzo rice was lightly seasoned and fluffy. The arugula salad was refreshing and the white sauce (tasted like tzatziki) went well with both the kebab and the salad. Servers were nice. They have a very small one person bathroom that is right next to the open window kitchen in the back. It was a little unnerving that the pending wraps were piled at the window since it was quite close to where people might pass/wait for the bathroom (which did happen when I was there) but it didnt seem to cause any issues. read more

I've had Bursa multiple times, usually for take out. For the first time I sat down for dinner. They give complimentary bread and oh my goodness. it is AMAZING. I don't know what they did to the bread, but the texture is light and dense. Pairing it with olive oil and a type of spice? it was good. Lol. We got the combo appetizer because options and variety matter. So good and more than enough for even 3-4 people to share! Comes with fresh thin pita bread as well. I almost always go for the Krofte Kebab! It's a blended mix of lamb and beef with parsley and other spices. (bigger portion than I had anticipated since I always get the lunch portion). The jasmine rice and orzo mix is the reason why I always come back, something about it. Little things that matter haha. We also got the eggplant in a dish, with potatoes, and a mix of vegetables.
