We have been here many times over the years, and it was always good food and good service so when family came to town for a funeral we had no reservations about taking them there. Well I have to say it was a mistake and I was actually embarrassed that we took them here. From the very beginning there were issues. First we ordered one beer and one Paloma, and those drinks took 15 min to be brought to the table. And the restaurant was not busy by any means. The others ordered only coke and it took even longer! The appetizer was delivered before the cokes. We finished the appetizer, which by the way was NOT at all how it was presented all the other times I had it. We ordered the general tsos cauliflower which is usually very good, but this time the sauce wasn't on the cauliflower it was under it on the plate and there were no green onions. Next the waitress never came by to ask if we wanted to place our dinner order we had to flag her down, and it was well after we had finished our appetizer. The next issue was my dish arrived with the dressing on it even though I had requested it to be on the side. So my dish went back. The others wanted to wait for my food which was only vegetables over rice and quinoa. It took about 15 min | for my food to arrive! Next up was our guest from out of town ate a few bites of her food and then realized they sent out the wrong dish! She ordered chicken piccata and they sent out some Tuscan chicken dish. What's worse is when I was finally able to get the waitress' attention she literally said "yea I noticed that like 30 min ago I'm sorry about that."WHAT? You knew this but you didn't even bother to come to us about the error? Everything took and extraordinary long amount of time to be brought to the table, the waitress was non existent for the most part and took a ridiculous amount of time to come to our table for every single thing. The final straw was I even had to flag her down (when I finally even saw her to be able to) after waiting 30 min after we had finished eating to ask for the check! I wish I could give this place more stars. I love that they have a good selection of gluten free entrees. We have been here 4 times now and every single time our food comes to us room temperature, not hot. I don't understand why because the restaurant is not crowded at all during the times that we go. It's also inconsistent in seasoning. One time we ordered a dish and it was slightly bland. The next time we ordered the same dish it was too salty. Overall the food has been just ok, nothing spectacular. As someone who has to be gluten free, I understand that our options are limited and that's why I really wish I could rate this place higher but the food quality does not justify a higher rating. Especially for the price that you're paying, with the exception of the Bag of Donuts which is amazing, everything else is just not worth it. read more

I was in VA for work and my co-workers and I went to Burtons for dinner. Mistake. Mistake. Mistake. We were seated immediately upon arrival but waited about 15-20 minutes before a server showed up. I'm not exaggerating this wait time. Against my co-workers wishes, after about 7-8 minutes I went to the hostess stand and mentioned how no server had attended our table. Even after I notified the hostess we waited another 8-10 minutes for someone (not our server) to stop by. (Multiple servers passed us and ignored us - including a guy who was likely the manager. It was CRAZY.) The ONLY reason we didn't leave was because we didn't have a car. We'd taken a Lyft to the restaurant and were not familiar with the area. If I had been alone, I would have left anyway, but my co-workers are not like me, so I had to chill out and go with the flow. Once our server came, it was not a smooth process to get water, take our order, order additional drinks or get the check. Service was horrible overall. I had two drinks, one which had no alcohol (margarita) and another which had too much (martini). I ordered the short rib sandwich because it was so popular in the reviews but it wasn't that good to me. I found it very greasy and heavy which a short rib sandwich does not have to be. So between the terrible, awful service, the poorly made drinks and the mediocre food, I would never go back to this restaurant. Never, ever, ever. read more

The odor of crab cakes were too dominant at the Restaurant and interferes with the enjoyment of non-seafood entrees and desserts. I think the quality of the entrees are good but the odor diminishes the enjoyment of the food. The chocolate dessert quality was terrible and was even below the quality of what you would get at a local supermarket. The only bright spot was the waitress who was very kind and courteous. Rarely have I had a subpar meal and the wait staff are excellent and attentive. If you like special diets and have food allergies they are all over it. I've dined here a bunch of times and always had good experiences here. Last time I was here I sat outside by a table that had hot gas fire stones while eating lunch and it was really enjoyable and relaxing, quiet. The gas heaters weren't on for some reason that day but the gas fire was fortunately just warm enough to make sitting outside on a chilly day possible. My boss loves this place so we come here fairly often. Favorites so far have been the the general tsos cauliflower and the firecracker shrimp. Its true that their cauliflower is so good you don't even miss that there isn't meat inside and its a vegetable! I recommend trying it! This last visit I ordered a steak salad. It had about 4 steak medallions on the top of a large salad. It was plenty filling and delicious. This place is on the pricey side but wonderful for a special meal or if you are being treated to lunch! read more

Was in Sterling for work and took our group to dinner and lunch at Burtons, we were really impressed! The dinner service was better that when we went for lunch but we really enjoyed both meals. For dinner I tried the Paleo Strip Steak and it was great, huge portion of steak but it was cooked perfectly and it was delicious. When we came in for lunch I tried the short rib grilled cheese, OMG yes please! It was divine!!! Plus the garlic Parmesan fries were ridiculously good. For dinner we ordered a couple of appetizers, the Zucchini Rolls and the General Tso's Cauliflower, both were delicious but the Cauliflower was next level delicious!!! So good we ordered it again as an appetizer at lunch! The service was good and the ambiance was comfy and relaxed. Burton's recently reopened today, and I can safely say they are, as always, on point; even during these uncertain times. From the moment I walked through the door I not only felt safe but comfortable. Masks are required, at least until you are seated at a table maintaining social distancing. I was wondering how that would be implemented with inside seating, and Burton's nailed it with an A+. The servers, managers, and bartenders all wore masks throughout the meal, which conveyed a sense of trust and safety in the environment. Service was on point, the bartender Tyler was talkative and conversational. He made sure the order was delivered promptly and correctly, and that I felt appreciated throughout the entire meal. Managers stopped by to check up on the order and make sure everything was running smoothly; without being intrusive. It was overall a delight to be served by the restaurant and genuinely cared for by the staff. The food was exquisite and delightful. The Head Chef David clearly puts love and care into every dish that's served. I had the Firecracker Shrimp (something that will hopefully be a staple) and the Chicken Sandwich with one modification. The culinary experts happily obliged, and the food was delivered to perfection. Overall the atmosphere, the staff, and the food was exceptional. It's not easy to adapt to these trying times. However, Burton's has proven to me that they can and will do so with excellence. If you're reading this worried that the indoor seating could be problematic. I've been to several Burton's but the experience at this Sterling location tops them all. Mackenzie was our server and really made us feel welcomed. Such a warm, sweet personality & very efficient! My friend and I were going to wait for seating but to our surprise, they allow you to order food and drinks from their outdoor patio/fireplace which was PERFECT! Despite them being busy, our orders came out so quickly! Another surprise was the short rib grilled cheese being back on the menu. The rib was juicy and tender, which paired well with the melted cheese and caramelized onions. And most importantly, the bread was toasted perfectly and held the sandwich together VERY well. Went there for the first time today and were super happy. We went with our 12 month old and ordered steak from their kids menu, along with fries, noodles, seasonal veggies and seasonal fruit. He LOVED it. The steak was so tender, although well done, it almost fell apart. Super yummy. Also, since they make things from scratch, we told them not to salt it, and, except for the fries, they didn't. Mu husband ordered the short rib cheese sandwich and I ordered their steak and fork burger off their paleo menu. SO, SO GOOD! Both! The sweet potato salad with apples and seeds - yummy. I visited Burtons for our company team dinner. One of my coworkers recommended this place. The interior & patio were clean and nice. I wish it wasn't so cold, so we could sit outside. We ordered calamari, philly cheese steak roll, and artichoke dip as appetiziers. They were all delicious! Also they came out pretty fast. The cocktails were to photogenic and yummy too. The tiny details (submarine-themed mule cup) made us (we are graphic designers) really happy. Our server (I don't remember her name, but blonde girl) was really nice and friendly. She was careful about our order because one of us had berry allergy. The entree is great-portion is good and food is so fresh and tasty. I got haddock covered with crab lumps... I got the the Classic Burger with caramelized red onions and bacon, my mother got the Roasted Vegetable Quinoa bowl and my girlfriend got the Wild Mushroom and Truffle Ravioli. Everyone raved about their dishes and the customer service was great. It was so good we went back the next day (Sunday) for my birthday lunch, where I got the Ribeye, my mother got the Short Rib Grilled Cheese, and my girlfriend went back to the ravioli. Again, the food was amazing. Unfortunately, the service took a massive hit. It was slight more busy then the day before, but we're talking maybe six tables total (maybe a 15 people?) spread over 2-3 waiters. We sat there for 15 minutes before I got tired of waiting and got up to go ask where our waiter was. Someone finally came over and apologized for the delay, saying he didn't know who our waiter was supposed to be, but that he would take our drink order. 10 minutes later, in a MOSTLY EMPTY restaurant, we got our drinks. 10 minutes after that we finally got to order (the same guy, no idea if he was supposed to have originally been our waiter). Seriously? I'll be back next year because the food is amazing, but someone probably needs to have a chat with the waitstaff that it's not okay to slack just because the restaurant isn't busy. read more

My Bread Pudding was served to me in a small skillet and it was incredible! It was topped with a scoop of ice cream. It was a beautiful sight and I felt as if I was cheating on my wife with the noise that I was making. On everything I love, I would put this desert up against any Chef, nationally or internationally! Just pure pleasure in my mouth! When I asked my wife if I could taste her Key Lime Pie, she looked at me as if she could hurt me. When I looked at the other couple, it was even worse! They were battling over the Pie (playfully, of course). Overall, the food exceeded our expectations!!!! This restaurant can cater to any food allergies or restrictions.
