Horrible, Four of us went for Brunch 8/29/21. Ordered Avacado Mash Toast w/ Dropped Egg. A good Avacado Toast stats with a hardy bread, instead I recevied an untoasted regular whole wheat bread. The type you get in a Bodega when you order a sandwich. Then it was cold. Ever eat a cold dropped egg, on untoasted supermarket bread- yuck. Service very spotty. I've stopped in here a couple of times as I live nearby, today was my best experience. It was a beautiful warm summers day and I've been out all day on the bike so I was exhausted, walking home wondering where to eat and remembered bus stop has outside seating. I thought i would try my luck to see if they had a table, and I wasn't disappointed. I had a turkey avocado wrap which comes with salad. The wrap was fresh and tasty, and a very good size. Service was quick yet not abrupt, and I was able to take my time and watch the world go by as I ate. read more

It's really a diner that's called a cafe, but they hv better than your average diner food! Got a grilled vegetable sandwich with focaccia and it was pretty good. Service is a little slow ..they can definitely improve on that ! read more

Had a weekend lunch here, great spot in the West Village and great food.

There's nothing they can't do at this charming corner cafe that's a Diner in disguise...an upscale one where everything is made from scratch! They are famous for their Homemade Lamb Shanks, Grilled Chicken Thighs, Breakfasts served all day long...but I come for their vegetable dishes and their salads with organic quinoa! Their vinaigrette is too sweet so stick to the oil and vinegar. Sometimes I'll have a poached egg on top of a bowl of mashed potatoes with salt and pepper...simple, yummy and gluten free. The service is always SUPERB and if you come early in the morning, they play Classical music on their speakers. A total charmer, a neighborhood favorite and a nice quiet corner of the West Village to enjoy a comfort food meal, Greek style! A+++ read more

I really wanted to like the Bus Stop Cafe! Finally tried it for the first time -- delivery was late, food was wrong (paid for extras that they didn't include), and the person on the phone was rude. There's no email address on the website to give feedback or raise issues. If I'm going to spend $50 for breakfast, there are plenty of other places that are better managed, get the order right, and have better food. read more

Okay--I get it. Big fave with locals who don't look elsewhere. I have gone here since 1970 when Victor was the counter man--watched it go through several incarnations. The current one is a Greek family--and they have a grumpy senior (a relative, I'm told) serving in the mornings, with carte blanch to piss off customers, thus I have stopped breakfasting there. As for dinner--overpriced, unremarkable and small portions, with careless service. read more

Great place. Food is tasty. Service seemed a bit rushed but I like the atmosphere. Great, large windows here, which is how it should be in all restaurants. Lovely location so this is definitely a hit! So many places to visit in the area. Had the chicken sandwich, which was good but maybe could be just a little less salty. Places to sit outside too. Surprising find in NYC. A great variety of delicious options. I had the mushroom ravioli dinner special. You could really taste the sweet Marsala! I also had a bowl of gazpacho with fresh vegetables and creamy avocado. Fast, attentive service and not too busy on a Saturday night. After a long day at work, to walk in to Bus Stop is always instantly relaxing. It's such a warm, pretty place, candlelit and cozy, and they play the best music! The menu is wide- you can get great diner-style burgers and breakfast whenever, but they have healthier and more elaborate fare as well. I've gone in both directions, and I've enjoyed everything, particularly the calamari and the quinoa and vegetable plate. That and a glass of wine erases the tension of the day. :) The service is always prompt and friendly, no matter how busy they are. I came in a month or so ago with my friend and her daughter, who'd been having a bit of a tough time, and the servers went out of their way to be so sweet to her, not just talking over her head they way one might with a 12-year-old. By the time dessert arrived, she was in such better spirits. The West Village is changing so much and so fast- I'm so grateful that Bus Stop, with its good food and unique charm- is still around. read more

I don't usually hang around this part of town (because I am in crippling debt because I spent literally every cent I had on baked goods which is a story for a different review about the place I did that at), but the other night I was around and asked a stranger for a cafe recommendation. She said here, so I came and I got mussels and a coffee because really I just wanted to sit down and charge my phone. Despite my default appearance falling somewhere between "delinquent vagabond" and "idiot", everyone was extremely accommodating and kept making sure I was okay! I mean, maybe that's why they kept asking if I was okay, but I still appreciated it immensely considering the scant order size. Mussels were p good, coffee was alright. Will come back at some point and order a real meal like a human being! read more

Went for brunch, seated quickly by a courteous hostess. Brunch options were many but I enjoyed the Eggs Benedict and a sangria which were both delightful. Service was quick and the location on the corner with windows open on a beautiful spring day was really perfect. This is a great brunch spot because so many of the more trendy places are overcrowded. Great value here, highly recommend and can't wait to return. read more

So I just made a horrible mistake ordering from this diner. I am completely disgusted. I ordered a burger, with lettuce, tomatoes, and French fries. I had to put the burger together, because for whatever reason it doesn't come together. Right as I'm about to take a bite I notice a long piece of hair sticking out of it. Mind you I am a guy with extremely short hair. (It's pretty obvious from my icon) Good thing I noticed on time. I immediately called and told them I wanted my money back. The guy who answers the phone tells me to "calm down" and that "we can fix this" and "they'll make it again". Why the hell would I want them to make my food again? So disgusting and unsanitary. I wouldn't EVER order food from that place again. And I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Great way to loose a first time customer.. I am attaching pictures of the food. read more

We stopped by to grab a quick lunch when we saw they had lots of outdoor seating on a beautiful day. The service initially was really, really slow. I had to get up and go ask someone to come take our order unfortunately. However, once we placed our order, the service was much better. We both got the Cobb salads with grilled chicken. There was a TON of chicken and it was really good! Their white vinaigrette dressing came on the side and it was also really good. read more

This place is sketchy. Knowing everything is outdoors currently due to covid, I asked them if they have WiFi so I can work and also support local businesses. The guy said yes and would give me the password after I order. So I ordered, he waited like 10 minutes, gave me the password and of course the WiFi is disabled. Convenient that he waited til I already ordered to let me know. I even told him I need to work so I didn't appreciate how they took advantage of the situation. Not going back. read more

Food arrives late & cold; the order arrives missing items (that never come even after you call) or you receive food not as you ordered. I enjoyed this nice, cozy place, charming and unpretentious. The large windows allow us to see the street view; the sunlight shines on the yellow walls that makes this place glow in happy light. The service was smooth and friendly; the food was decent. After a long walk in the city, we came in for a late afternoon small bite. My butternut squash soup and Caesar salad were tasty! I'm wavering between a deuce and the above star rating. Just stopped in for brunch here. Doubt I'll be back with the plethora of other options available in my 'hood. That being said, the pancakes and bacon were good. The pancakes were nice and fluffy, just as I like them. The bacon was greasy and flavorful, just as I like them. The setting is quaint and done in warm colors, lending a cozy feel to the place overall. It's pretty small, so I don't recommend it for groups. Otherwise, a cute place with pretty good food. BUT...as I said, I doubt I will be back. I find that I don't oftentimes encounter people that would inspire me to use the word "surly." However, I found that the waitstaff was a little...brusque and, well, surly. I have my theory on this (namely, the theory of the "solo diner," whom some restaurants treat unfavorably because they do not expect as much of a tip from a solo diner as they would for a couple or group, for whom they would put in about the same amount of work and effort as they have to for a solo diner). Perhaps the solo diner bias is the explanation for their slight attitude. For that reason, I shall repeat -- I doubt I will be back. read more

"Five stars" is for the pleasure of being able to walk 10 minutes to this wonderful cafe, being able to sit down, enjoy a surprisingly pleasing lunch for $7.25 complete with a soup, a main course, and unlimited refill coffee or tea. "Five stars" is for being able to sip your tea behind small, old fashioned windows, whilst listening to a contemporary ambient music setting, with nice people. "Five stars" is for the experience, I fail to exhaust after a month of repetitious visits. read more

You know what makes a decent diner A-OK in my book? When you get to watch Kiefer Sutherland eating a hamburger in peace inside said diner. That's right, I'm giving an average grilled cheese 3 stars because I got to watch Kiefer Sutherland eat a hamburger at close range! Don't judge me. He's tiny and his skin is surprisingly luminous. And what kind of asslord bothers Jack Bauer when he's got a mouthful of hamburger? Random fanboy was lucky he didn't get a fork in the skull. Right, and the grilled cheese was serviceable. The waiter was actually pretty adorable and charming, so that's gotta count for at least half a star, too. Never mind the fact that it's one of the few non-highway-robbery priced spots in the area. As I make my tour of favorites, I have to throw in Bus Stop - my favorite brunch place. I never waver on ordering my regular: eggs benedict with home fries. Ask for the hollandaise sauce on the side cause sometimes they drench it. Their brunch special is great - you can choose toast, coffee, a drink, and an entree for $11.95. This is a great place to go when the weather is nice so you can sit outside. I'd give it 5 stars if they had bloody mary's and some other solid brunches. The corn beef hash was a little subpar. Omelettes are ok, nothing special. Just go for the eggs benedict! Tip: cash only Doesn't hurt that Magnolia Cupcakes is across the street either :) read more
