The restaurant itself is beautiful. The decor is upscale and gives that classic steakhouse feel, and I liked that there was both bar seating and a more formal dining area. It definitely sets the tone for a nice night out. Also this location is very different from Polaris. The service was okay...not terrible, but not as attentive or memorable as I expected for a steakhouse of this reputation. As for the food... this is where it fell short for me. I've been wanting to try it for a while because I've heard so many good things, so I came in with high expectations. Unfortunately, the steak wasn't cooked the way I prefer, the brussel sprouts weren't enjoyable, and the mashed potatoes tasted like they may have been instant, which was disappointing for a place known for steak.The one standout for me was the meatballs,they were actually really good and had great flavor. Iced Seafood Tower: The tower would be more impressive with a bit more seafood. The platter contains skinny king crab legs, a lobster tail, raw oysters, and shrimp cocktail. Tomahawk: The 32 ounce ribeye steak is trimmed off the bone and neatly sliced. It is charbroiled for a slight smoky flavor. The steak is pink and tender with a nice snap. We went to Mitchell's steakhouse on Valentine's Day. We had a reservation ahead of time. It was packed! But we had a good waiter. I wish they had more steaks to choose from though and they had sides that you had to pay extra for. I got the 3 course meal for the Special - I got the lobster bisque, and the small tenderloin which came with shrimp, and then the Bundt cake for the dessert. Overall it was a good meal! It was a little bit slow because of the holiday so I understood that. But will have to come back soon! read more

Took a colleague to birthday lunch today. The carpaccio was so chewy I couldn't swallow any of it. Server ignored the fact he removed a full plate. Ordered dessert to go joking I was still hungry since lunch was awful and he dismissed the comment. Just opened the bag and this pathetic $13 crème brûlée didn't even have berries (birthday girls had blackberries and raspberries). Boo for Mitchell's. We came here for a business dinner and had an incredible experience. About 14 people. The process to reserve the room was very easy. Tamara was helpful and showed me all the options we had. When we got to the dinner, the table was set up nicely and the room was beautiful and intimate. Our servers, Lillian and Nick, were complete rock stars and very professional. They quickly got us anything we needed and kept coming around to check on us. They were also very knowledgeable on the menu and wine selections and pairings. The food was AMAZING. Really well presented and flavorful. Only a couple of shortfalls - the lobster bisque was OK, but not the best I've ever had, and no lumps of lobster in it, and the asparagus was not my favorite - too thick and grassy/greenery tasting. Otherwise, the food was so good. I got the filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection. Honestly one of the BEST I've ever had! Lots of flavor and the meat was buttery and easy to cut through. The sides: mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and Brussels sprouts were great, too! They had 4 options for our dessert that was nearly impossible to choose from. I ended up with the NY cheesecake and it was to die for. I was so full I couldn't even finish it haha. I highly recommend this restaurant for a business dinner or a date night. read more

All went well. We made reservations on line on the way to Columbus for a dinner prior to catching Diana Krall at the Palace yesterday evening. We arrived 20 minutes early and were seated immediately. Ryan? Was attentive throughout and made several suggestions that we took while there and the best way to get to the concert afterwards. We order shrimp cocktail and oysters in the half shell. Both were good. She ordered the ribeye and I got the lamb. Both were great. We shared the broccolini and neither ordered desserts. With 18-19 % tip the bill was ~235 which was a bit higher than we had planned. Jazz was playing on the house system and there was enough dampening in the venue that we could easily hear one another. I didn't love the butter for the bread nor did I love the cream sauce for the broccolini. But it was a nice touch to add a small dab of extra horseradish on the cocktail sauce in case u wanted it extra hot!! read more

Most of the food was fantastic, and came out pretty quickly. The Caesar salad had a strong vinegar taste to me, but the rest of the food was delicious. I was in Columbus for work and was lucky enough to be able to meet up with a friend for dinner. She suggested Mitchell's which was within walking distance of my hotel. I was there in December so the restaurant was decorated for Christmas with lots of white lights, poinsettias, and trees. Add onto that dark wood, crisp linens, and comfy booths and the atmosphere was really lovely. We passed on appetizers and grabbed a couple drinks and ordered the filet with Robuchon mashed potatoes. The steaks were seasoned well and cooked as requested. The mashed potatoes were honestly a joke - I know Robuchon style potatoes are supposed to be super creamy and really a conveyance for butter and cream, but these were super loose and severely under salted. I don't remember what drink I had but remember it tasted good. Service was great and for a slow weekday evening, our server was nice and let us linger since she knew we were catching up after not seeing each other for many years. I've been to numerous "fancy" steakhouses over the years and the food here was nothing special. But the ambiance and great service made up for it kicking up my rating to 4 stars. read more

What happened ? I used to love this establishment under original ownership. This experience was pretty average for the price paid. Nice environment. Ordered a seafood tower to start. Reasonable price and ample for two. Crab legs were ridiculously small, but other items were good and tasted good. We did wait almost 30 minutes from the time we ordered to its arrival. Small filet as entree was very tender and flavor was good. Unfortunately it was barely warm, was clearly sitting a while before being brought out. One server covering at least 8 tables with no help for food runners or water / drink help. An impossible task to deliver a higher end experience. Things were so slow and we had to depart to get to a show I gave server my card before the check came so he could run it. Still took 25 minutes for him to return with receipt. Although not a bad experience, it fell very short of what I would expect when spending $250 before gratuity. read more

Really disappointed in our meal last night. The shrimp (in the shrimp cocktail) were smaller than described on the menu, only average in taste. The Caesar salad was very lightly dressed, and the steak was not prepared as ordered. The lamb chops were quite fatty. Nothing we ate was more than average in taste. Our server was very pleasant and attentive, but seemed to have limited wine experience. We ordered a 2018 bottle of wine, but a 2020 was opened and poured before we realized the difference and asked. We were told afterward that the 2018 was not available (& the manager knew this), which would have been helpful to know in advance so we could choose another bottle. We've always associated this restaurant with a higher standard and were surprised by the overall experience. Afterward, we realized ownership has changed, no longer owned by Cameron Mitchell, which may explain the difference. Spent over $350 for the meal, will not return. read more

I used UberEats to order take out one night to find it is not working at this time. I didn't know until I arrived to pick up my dinner...they can take orders over the phone. I dined here almost every night while staying across the street. The weekday happy hour menu offers a large selection of nice menu items (enough for dinner) and beer, wine drink specials. After a few days of the happy hour menu I moved onto the dinner menu. The seared sea bass and oka king salmon are delicious entrees. For a side item I am hooked on the grilled broccolini. Very disappointed. We have been to Mitchell's Steakhouse over the years and this is the first time I'm leaving worse than I came in. First of all it was freezing, cold air blowing every where. It took about 10 minutes to be acknowledged once we were seated and the manager came filled our water and let us know the waiter would be by. It was slow service our server was missing at least 3 times when we needed him. We all ordered our steaks medium and they all were cooked differently. My son and I were done eating before the waiter to even come back for my husband to be able to send his back to be cooked longer. I'm not sure many people know, but Mitchell's has a pretty nice happy hour- I believe it goes until 6:30 and has cocktails that are usually $15-16 all priced at $9, and $6/7 glasses of wine and beer. Appetizers are all $11 and under during happy hour as well, including the burger. So, if you're looking for a good burger and drinks for happy hour, you can get a relatively good deal here! Burger was good, nothing to write home about. Meatballs were a tad on the dry side but good flavor-wise. Beef carpaccio was delicious and a large serving. In terms of cocktails I tried, I had the Passionfruit Mojito and the Gin Basil Smash and loved them both- I was worried about them being too sweet but they were perfect and refreshing. read more

Our server had way too many big tables and just was not able to give the top quality service you would expect at Mitches. All of our steaks were overcooked, we had to ask about 1 of the salads because everyone received their salad but 1 person and we were almost completed before he even received his. I am in town, attending a conference for a few days and thought I would order a delivery of food from Mitchell's to my hotel. I selected the Steak Diane, hand cut fries, and a piece of their carrot cake. The 2 inch thick New York strip prepared Diane style was nothing short of fabulous. The steak was a perfect medium rare and the Diane was rich and a beautiful accompaniment to a terrific piece of beef. The hand cut fries were very good as expected. Finally, the layered carrot cake was moist and delicious and came with a side of caramel sauce. The cream cheese frosting was unbelievable with the caramel! I wish I could have gone to the restaurant but the next best thing was to have had their food delivered. read more

When we finally ordered our food it came out cold and not very good. The manager finally stopped at our table and asked how it was going. When we told him the truth, he got upset and made it seem like it was our fault. Very unprofessional! If you want a fine dining experience, go to Hyde Park. We started with the calamari and it was delicious. We asked for bread, and their bread is so salty, which I personally adore. Next was the tuna tartar. The amount of tuna was great! Rarely do I say we could've used more wonton chips! Next was the shrimp and steak. I will probably skip this one next time as the meat portion is smaller and there are other fun apps to get. Good food, less than expected service. We had a family birthday get together for 16 people. Set the initial menu and place setting count. Worked with the catering manager Tamara. A change in the headcount, a change in one menu item, and scheduling for the cheese and vegetable trays were communicated to Tamara via email ten days prior to the event but never communicated to the serving staff. We were short a place setting, an item was served rather then its replacement and the appetizer trays were not available for the cocktail hour until asked where they were. Tamara pitched joining the Landry Select Club for the Birthday benefit. The club information was communicated to her via email but never provided to the wait staff so no credit was deducted from the bill. Nor was the evening's bill credited to the Select Club without an email requesting the credit be applied. Lillian did a fine job tending to our group. The food was as expected. No issues there. Forewarned though, double check any communications you have with Tamara that the information is actually making it to the serving staff. Last night we attended a large party with friends for the holidays. They had a fixed menu which was filled with diverse options. The service was great, especially for a larger group and the ambiance is gorgeous. We started with bread, soup, and salad. I had the lobster bisque which was pretty good but perhaps had a touch too much sherry or brandy for my liking. The Caesar salad is outstanding though. Tons of flavor and a bit spicy. I got the filet with shrimp scampi. It was really good! The shrimp are huge, cooked to perfection, and super juicy. Broccoli, mashed potatoes, and especially the corn were all on point! The desert was the only part of the meal that fell a bit flat. I got the butter cake with orange glaze. It did not taste orange or buttery. I ate the leftover this morning and heated it up which made it better and softer but still did not taste like orange. My husband's Creme Brulee was delicious though!
