I went twice on the weekend. First time I got a watermelon matcha which was really nice and refreshing. Second time I tried the ube puff and banana both were good and matcha over ice cream. The shop isnt that big but its cozy and has a few seats. Service was friendly.

Great for a midday or after dinner dessert! I was there around 7:30 today on a Sunday, and they were open until 9. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's seating for maybe 10 people and it's very yellow tiles and cutesy![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have tons of cool merch for sale too. I didn't get a drink today but I want to try the hojicha chai latte next time. Now the cream puffs! They were goooooood - smaller than I expected at first but I'd definitely get them again. My favorite was the rose lychee which was VERY surprising to me because I usually don't like rose. Not too sweet hahaha, subtle rose flavor. The strawberry matcha was exactly that, pretty good, and then the passionfruit was really good except I don't like yuzu but my friend that does really like the little yuzu chewy bits inside.

Ordered the Matcha Cookie Croissant and Apple Cider Donut. I was extremely impressed by the cookie croissant--can't say I've ever seen another bakery pull this off. It was exactly right level of sweetness I was looking for (which is relatively leaner sweeter than average). The donut was gluten-free among several other items as well. Came into the shop during the last hour so the cream puffs were sold out. Will have to come back! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is super duper cute. I would come back just to take photos of the inside alone.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The worker was very kind and amiable as well. Accommodating and eager, I would even say.

This was the most refreshing cream puff I've had especially during this NYC heat. I highly recommend everyone come for a cool refreshing bite of a cream puff at Butter Dose. Their menu of cream puffs range from Ube Coconut to Tiramisu. An extra plus about their menu is that they breakdown, explain each cream puff and what's inside. For example, I ordered a Chocolate Banana which has a caramelized banana on top and banana slice inside mixed with the cream. This was too pretty to eat that I had to snap multiple pics to capture it. Once I took that first messy bite, I was surprised how cool and refreshing it was. I'm aware these need to be refrigerated to keep cool but sometimes it can dull the flavor and taste more like a refrigerated/chilled item. But not Butter Dose, it keeps it that cool level while still maintain that flavorful taste and looks pretty for a mini foodie photoshoot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also the decor of the space was such a vibrant yellow and chill lounge spot with the various decoration of vacation destination items.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]As well as books that you can grab and read while eating your sweets or sipping your drink.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Do stop by, say hello to the cashier who was very sweet just like the cream puffs they sell because he explained each one to me as well as being patient with me while I was deciding.

Awhile our gluten-free adventures in Manhattan. We decided to check out a list of spots. Butter Dose 236 E 13th St, New York, NY Heard so much about these gluten-free cream puffs, most of their items were gluten-free. Had to try their crème puffs. That's what we are there for. These crème puffs were bite size. [Looks big from the angle shot] $3.75 each - Black sesame - Mango Sago is good, but it doesn't have that strong mango taste. I also saw they have gluten-free ice cream sandwiches. They were unique in their flavors. I got the matcha cookie with jasmine ice cream. The matcha cookie was good and it also had white chocolate chips. So it wasn't too much of a matcha. It had a slight sweetness to it. Their lemonade drinks weren't too good. The lemonade had no sugar and the mango lemonade was super tart. But overall, the highlight was their black sesame crème puffs. We had high hopes for Butterdose, especially with a name that promises rich, buttery pastries--but sadly, it didn't deliver. We tried their cream puffs (Ube and Sriracha Mango) and a croissant, and everything was seriously underwhelming. The Ube puff was barely flavored--so light it bordered on bland. As for the Sriracha Mango, the flavor combo was confusing at best and just didn't work. It felt like a gimmick that didn't go through enough testing. The croissant was the biggest letdown. For a place with "butter" in the name, there was a noticeable lack of it. No flakiness, no rich, indulgent flavor--just dry and forgettable. I've had better croissants from Costco. Overall, it feels like Butterdose is more about aesthetic/social media hype than actual baking quality. We won't be coming back.

Loved this place, was my first time here and I really enjoy it. The matcha strawberry was yummy, if you're a tea fan get their strawberry oolong tea, I'm craving it now, just think about it. You get the full tea taste and the sweetness from the strawberry. A must try!

Their gluten free cream puffs were wonderful. I actually couldn't tell they were gluten free and I'm so happy I could eat my favorite sweet treat again. Friendly staff.

I wish I could start every morning with delicious pastries and baked goods from here! This place is an affordable and local, family-owned pastry cafe in the East Village! They're known for their cream puffs, which come bite-sized and wonderfully crafted into different flavors and toppings! There's a wide assortment of other delicious treats to choose from, including sweet or savory biscuits, cookie croissants and cheesecake, plus all sorts of coffee and matcha drinks to choose from. So tasty!! You can't go wrong treating yourself to something here!

Although I'm not normally a fan of cream puffs, I am glad that I discovered Butter Dose. The lychee rose flavor was light, well-balanced, not too sweet, and so fragrant! The pastry was light and airy, and the filling was not at all greasy or dense. I also got a matcha latte with skim milk, which was okay, but rather dilute. The cream puffs are on the smaller size for the price, but overall a good value given the overall quality.

New cafe in the east village/ Union Square adjacent. Great/friendly service, super reasonable coffee, great tea options, and even better desserts. The cream puffs and scones were amazing, which not surprising when you consider that all things are baked by their trained pastry chef. To top it all off the vibe of the place is chill, great amount of seating, WiFi, and a clean bathroom. Perfect for a friend date, regular date, to get some work in, or people watch from the window counter seats. read more

Came here on a whim a bit ago and honestly yall need to come here for the Peach Oolong tea alone!!!! I've come 3x in a row already solely because the tea is super yummy and not just regular tea bags - they're loose leaf tea from China!!! It's also very well made - never over or under steeped it's incredible. I ended up getting the black sesame and rose lychee cream puffs as well which were both yummy but the rose lychee was the only one I'd reorder! They're smaller than the Bibble and Sip cream puffs but are still good!! Everyone here is super nice and would recommend staying in since the interior of the cafe is super cute. read more

It pains me to say that Barachou (UWS) has been surpassed. The creampuffs were more delicious, delightful, and were much more interesting. In fact, they were fascinating with flavors like Mango Sago, Matcha and Rose Lychee--the last one we have yet to try. Not too sweet, but very flavorfull with the cream and light accoutrements puffing out. The ambiance was super instagrammable with a cartoon puff smiling at you in the window and yellow and pink all around. Adorbs!!! The music was wonderful too. The John Kouka team will be back to get some more cream puff love. Warning: The place opens as a coffee shop early in the morning. However, the creampuffs do not come out till 12 P.M., and when we got there at around 12:10, a couple of the flavors were not out. You want to know all of your options right? It's a big decision. read more

I love cream puffs, so naturally when I saw a new cream puff spot opened I had to try. The space is cute, a decent size and there are a few tables inside for you to sit down and enjoy your pastries and puffs at. I tried the banana chocolate, tiramisu, black sesame, and ube. I'm a big fan of chocolate and banana so it's no surprise that my favorite was the chocolate banana flavor. The ube one had a very subtle ube flavor, the black sesame and tiramisu fillings were equally as good. The cream puffs are small enough so you can buy a few more to try and not be too full. Priced decently. Loved the texture of their crust. They're best enjoyed as soon as you purchase them so the crust won't get soggy I would think. I'll definitely be back to try their other pastries. read more

Such a cute little spot to get coffee/tea and dessert! The service was great and staff were extremely friendly. We got to try the rose lychee, black sesame, chocolate banana, and the yuzu. I also ordered the strawberry hot chocolate which was absolutely insane and the matcha latte. The cream puffs were as good as they looked and the strawberry hot chocolate was my absolute favorite. Having been coming to this place for a while now, there's a couple consistent plusses that make this five star, and something I think has changed to make it five star. Consistent: 1. Clean 2. Aesthetic 3. The iced tea is insanely good, try rose black or strawberry oolang! 4. Student discount 5. Friendly staff 6. Doesn't feel like you're in NY. Don't know how to describe it other than, you don't feel rushed and it feels homey Changed: The cream puffs USED to not have much flavor. Seeing the reviews from several months to a year ago, I totally understand why people have said what they have. However, when I went recently, I noticed the flavors were definitely much better. Not overpowering or over-sweet, but present. Part of a good cafe to me is being able to take this sort of feedback and making it a better experience for your customers, and I really think the team at butterdose has done that. The white male cashier at the front was very rude (basically threw the spoon at me when I asked for another utensil) and was not helpful when I asked questions. It was a super cute place and the desserts weren't overly sweet which I liked, but I wouldn't come back because of the service. read more

This recently opened bakery in east village is so cute! The interior is really brightly decorated and there's a few tables, although they were all full when I came around 4 PM on a Saturday. There were a decent number of people inside, and some of the flavors were sold out. We got the black sesame and seasonal strawberry Sakura cream puffs, and they were both really good. I was surprised because only the cream on top of the puff is flavored, and the filling inside is just vanilla, but the flavors still came through. I especially loved the black sesame, since the flavor was really rich and strong. The strawberry one was solid, but I couldn't really taste the Sakura. They're pretty small and a little expensive for the price, considering you can get larger ones for only one or two more dollars at Alimama or Bibble and Sip, but I still really enjoyed them. Definitely want to come back to try their drinks and other baked goods (the croissants, cookies, and scones all looked amazing as well)! read more

This place saved my birthday. Was panicked and stressed by all the options but yet still underwhelmed until at the last possible chance my boyfriend suggested we just stop in here and see what they have. It was life changing. We got the chocolate banana cream puffs and the coconut pudding, served in a real coconut! Both were so delicious and some of the best desserts we've ever had! The cream puffs were light but full of flavor. The coconut pudding was served inside of a coconut and scraping off the flesh inside of it made the dessert 10x better. The staff were kind and did not rush us at all and I can't wait to go back. read more

WOW!! Let me just say, customer service is excellent and the treats are so so good. I was helped by a woman with dark short hair and she was so kind and engaging, even telling me about the bakery's menu items when I mentioned I had worked at a bakery. She also offered to make a couple things fresh for me that had sold out prior. She was so warm and delightful. Just because of that interaction I'll be back again. Kudos to her ! read more

The capers were like slightly toasted and crispy, i've never had them like that before and I loved it. I think the toast was just missing a little drizzle of olive oil on top. To be honest, I think the capers were my favorite part. They were just this unique texture. I've never experienced before. I also got an iced lavender chai latte to go. It was so light and delightful, with the perfect blend of lavender. I really enjoyed this place and would totally come back again.

My friend told me to meet her at the Bibliotheque, and so I did, not knowing what I am walking into…read more(no googling before hand). Wow, what a beautiful space! When you enter there is a bar you can sit at and two large high top tables next to it. As you walk further in there is a lounge with couches and various sizes tables. The whole space is surrounded by books! Heaven! We ordered a chai, matcha and a ginger cookie. Shout out to the woman taking my order for comping me my drink for my birthday! Everyone from the staff was friendly - I really enjoyed being there. The only thing I would say is someone should come by to check on the tables more often as I had to return other people's abandoned drinks. But you know what first world problems, am I right? Maybe they can have a sign or mention to customers to return their own cups before leaving. I sort of can't imagine why people don't... It is quite popular spot so you need to be very patient and strategic if you want to grab a table, as well as sprinkled with a little bit of luck. We unfortunately got there a little late. I went there at 3pm and hunted for a table and my friend got there by 330pm. By the time we ordered and started drinking our coffees - we were informed the lounge area will be closed at 4pm to prepare for the evening wine bar. They have separate sections for laptops and there are spots for people to enjoy their drinks. The staff was super quick and they focused on keeping the coffee serving area as clean as possible. What makes this coffee shop super unique is that they use their own nut butters in their drinks and the Le Buddy I ordered was nutty and sweet enough! Definitely recommend if you're in the mood for something new!
