This place is excellent. It's a cozy, home-style restaurant that's popular with the locals. Expect to wait at least 30 minutes on a Friday or Saturday. The menu covers the whole spectrum: steaks, salads, casseroles, pasta, soups, tex-mex. Think comfort food, or grandma's kitchen. Entrees come with bread [get the cinnimon twists, they're fluffy, fresh and delicious] and a salad. The best part is their pies [for which they are famous, apparently?] We got the pecan and pumpkin in the fall when we visited, but the apple and strawberry pies looked good as well. Really disgusting the way the waitstaff, well one waitress in particular, treat the guest. No type of pride in their work or their employer. Absolutely NO manners!! My son asked to go to his favorite restaurant for his birthday dinner tonight. Upon arriving, the hostess was extremely kind and got us seated with little wait. She got us our drinks while we overlooked the menu. We waited for 30 minutes and still no sight of the waitress to take our order. I spot the hostess and make eye contact, I over hear her tell the wait staff we were still waiting for our order to be taken. Her ugly response "They're just gonna have to wait! I'm too busy to handle another order....." I'm sorry, maybe I'm mistaken, BUT THATS YOUR JOB!! A simple stop by the table to let us know it would be a minute would have been sufficient. Instead she opted for the childish and rude manner of just hollaring out loud enough for us to hear that you really didn't give a shit about us. My family of 6 gladly took our business to a corporate operated facility in town which had our food to us in less time than it took this sloppy worker to yell out about not wanting to help us. This "Family owned" business needs to reevaluate their staff. I know personally, we will never be back and my son will need to find a new restaurant to enjoy pancakes at. Sad their staff was so overwhelmed by the 3 tables she was waiting on. Three tables which already had food and she had yet to stop by in the time we were there. Well we made our breakfast decision based on yelp this morning. Once again very thankful for yelp. Prices we very reasonable especially for the amount of food you got. Service very friendly and attentive. Cinnamon twist, yum! Make sure one person gets this at least and you can share as an appetizer. The only complaint I have is I like my hashbrowns and scrambled eggs a little more done. But my boyfriend got his eggs over medium and they were cooked perfectly. So if you are like me just ask and I am sure they would cook them a little extra. Great place. read more

Asked the server for warm eggs and she became visibly hostile, looked daggers at us and made several excuses. She actually said "thanks for ruining my holiday". Had a very disappointing breakfast this morning, Saturday 4th of July. The food was being served by people were masks are optional. My wife's plate had egg white hanging over the side, dragging on the table. Mine was a Denver omelet. I believe it says diced vegetables, on the menu, but the green pepper chunks were big a round is the end of my thumb. And I came home with the most upset and sick tummy I've ever had. Probably not go there again anytime soon. I just don't agree with the Denver omelet. You're expecting diced ham, diced onions, bell peppers, that sort of thing, all uniform sized and cooked, with cheese and what you're getting in every bite is three huge pieces, or better, of bell pepper. If you are looking for home cooking than ButterBurrs is for you. Their menu is diverse for anyone to find something to eat. From breakfast, lunch, and Dinner. Breakfast is the time I mostly visit and I look forward to a Denver omelet and a raspberry twist. Those twists are so big that they can fill you up. For lunch the SST which gives you a sandwich, soup, and a treat. They have several sandwiches to pick from. I usually get the open face crab meat sandwich. they make their own bread and makes a difference. Last time I ordered the Open faced 7-hour roast sandwich and I order that next time I am there. I usually get an oatmeal pie for my dessert and I can't find that anywhere else. The prices are reasonable and worth given a try. read more

Two years ago we ate there bcuz of homemade soup advertisement. When inquiring further, waitress said it was frozen and heated per order. So maybe it is homemade, but not fresh after the day they make it. You can make a simple yet wonderful homemade chicken soup within an hour that is to die for using all fresh ingredients. Some of the worst food...EVER. They haven't cleaned the flat top or changed the deep fryer oil in decades. Everything is rancid. You can't make up for poor quality with huge portions. I had a piece of pie and it was old and stale. And what is with the potatoes? I've never seen liquid mashed potatoes before. I thought they put the soup on my plate by accident. Went here during a summer motorcycle trip across a lot of states. Everywhere we stopped we asked about the best places to eat. For breakfast we stopped here and none of us (5 total) were disappointed. Service was great, portions were filling, but the reason I was so compelled to write a review is the CINNAMON TWIST!! The most delicious breakfast dessert I've ever had. They even said they're famous for them, I could see why. Highly recommend this place. OMG. This place was fantastic! We were here June 22/17. From the customer service to the amazing meal, we were nothing short of wowed! Delicious buns served with a smile and a skillet breakfast with copious amounts delicious coffee. We would make it a point of going out of our way to stop here. We have always loved to eat at Butterburrs EXCEPT when we have had one particular waitress who is slow and consistently messes up our order. Yesterday we ordered skillets, my wife avoids gluten so she ordered a twist to go, I ordered toast, and we ordered hot chocolate to come with the meal. The hot chocolate came very late in the meal, I never saw any toast, and we had to remind her about the twist to go. She doesn't check back to see if everything is OK. I normally leave an 18 to 25% tip; this time she got an 8% tip, and that was overly generous. We have to consider whether or not to eat there based on the chance of getting this waitress. read more

When they hit they hit big, when they miss they just stumble all over themselves. Most of the time the food is fresh and delicious, spaced out just right. Other times it's cold soup followed by a sandwich before you have a chance to eat any soup, so one gets cold while you eat the other. So I'm not sure what I'm missing here, the place was packed and that's usually a good sign, but when we got served (which was fast for the amount of people) the food kept disappointing along the way. First was the clam chowder, which was a lot more thick than creamy, there wasn't that many chunks of clam meat, and when you did get some, it was sorta gelatinous and just.. off. Next up was the chicken fried steak sandwich severed open face with mashed potatoes, and while the steak itself was pretty decent, I can't say the same for the potatoes. They were kind of watered down, if you can call it that, maybe I just like mine thicker, but they were too bland. And while they had some chunks of potato inside them, it couldn't save them. Next up was the oatmeal pie, which was probably the best thing that I had, however it was really hot on the edge enough to burn my mouth, but cold near the back... a sign of it being microwaved? I'm not sure, but it was pretty good after the fact that I had to wait for it to settle. Overall, I can't see myself coming back here, the food isn't tasty, the wait is long, but the only saving grace is the service and speed. read more

Butterburrs is one of the permanent fixtures in Pocatello. I have been in here several times for breakfast lunch and dinner and I really can't find a reason to not rate it 5 stars. They always have a warm atmosphere and great food. I love the fresh cinnamon and raspberry twists they have available every day. And don't forget to try the pies.
