Was very excited when this place opened. Big menu, high quality food and coffee and the best ambience out of the comparable places in the country mart. BUT service is awful. I don't actually mind the staff like others - but the wait times are too long. Today, I saw 5 people leave the line and for elsewhere. Mind you, it's not a long line at all - it just doesn't move. The other restaurants in the country mart probably moves the line through at 5-6x the speed. I'm not exaggerating. I love the Mill valley and SF locations. The food and drinks here are great, the service not so much. Like other reviews, we had to ask where our food was and wait a lil too long. The main cashier, the tall woman with green glasses, was very rude. She was on her phone while taking orders, rolled her eyes at customers, she bumped into a customer as she was walking out of the restaurant (without apologizing & the lady was clearly shocked by it), and another employee made a face to apologize for her behavior. It's a GORGEOUS setting, like a perfected Parisian corner cafe. The staff though, off putting for sure. One poor women was doing it all (making coffee, taking orders, bagging pastries) and after about 7 minutes another women came down to help. She was clearly inconvenienced and rushed. The forestiere (mushroom) crepe was tasteless and cold. The mushrooms had no flavor, the buckwheat crepe had no flavor and was cold, and the cheese was chewy and tasted mostly of salt. It desperately needed some wine, tomato, herbs, something to bring interest, and of course at least serve it warm. The little side salad was very good. This was a light and airy bakery/ brunch spot. The place felt a bit cramped at times, with all the people pouring in, but the outdoor seating made it seem more capacious. I had the fungi crepe, crab omelette, kouignoù-amann (in baton form), Pain Suisse au Chocolate, and a Cappuccino. Starting with the pastries: the kouignoù-amann was delicious and the Pain Suisse au Chocolate was good. I wish the custard in the Pain Suisse au Chocolate had a stronger flavor. The crepe was recommended to us, but it wasn't my favorite. The goat cheese in the crepe was a nice balance of salty and buttery--that was the best part. The crepe and the filing was a bit sour, it reminded me of injera (Ethiopian Bread). The omelet was as expected, crab and eggs. The egg portion of the omelet was a bit bland. It's not fun when two people are served and the third has to wait an additional 5 minutes before their food arrives. Do you wait for the third persons food to be served meaning yours will be cold or do you start anyway, you tell me. Crape was more like a flat pancake not the traditional crape we're used to. my friend and I were looking for a nice place to have breakfast outdoors and decided to give this a try - really lovely atmosphere. Apathetic staff. Cold coffee, send it back still cold coffee. Been twice. Very crowded on a weekend. First time food was good, Latte was tasty but lukewarm. Second time, somehow one of our entrees was not entered, hot drinks were lukewarm, music was very loud. My entree was tasty- avocado and egg over a croissant- but it was cold. The server was apologetic and ordered the 2nd entree. Not sure what the issue with food/drink temperature is. Monday I went for lunch to this restaurant &I ordered cob salad & my friend ordered sandwich, to be honest it was not even was tasty then but also I went home & got sick ( vomit& diarrhea) I called next day to talk to their manager to make sure nobody else get sick from chicken or egg which was salad ingredients, they got my name & number, nobody called me, today I tried 10 times, no voicemail, nobody answered, what a service & customer service ,I love going to larkspur plaza for lunch & all of their restaurants including rustic bakery are great except this restaurant , i am very disappointed, what a waste time& money read more

We have been a few times already. Yes the line is long and slow, but they are really busy, still new and probably figuring things out. The pastries are the best I've had. Croissant is my favorite. Most recently we had a flaky peach pastry that was delicious! Crepe was fine, but took way too long to receive. Have had breakfast and lunch here a few times. Highly recommend the spicy crab benedict. The vibe is pleasant. Enjoy the atmosphere inside and out. There is a solid wine menu and traditional French food. Love their flower arrangements on the tables. This location is far more inviting than Le Marais in Mill Valley. I came here for their enormous sized croissants. I arrived inside at 9:40 which is 40 min after they open. I ordered one of their tik tok famous enormous croissants but the RUDE cashier tells me it's sold out because they only make 6 a day. It's unbelievable that what made this cafe popular was the croissants and they only make six a day! I ordered their Forestiere crepe with a cappuccino instead. The presentation was just downright sad for the crepe. I was disappointed and dissatisfied by the food and the lack of their popular croissant... Nice variety of choices and good quality. However, ever since the iPad came out we get the tip screen at the register. I am against this. I much rather wait until I have finished and then decide on a tip. So, I did not leave a tip (yet). The cashier took the receipt, looked at it and gave me the most formidable look. Lovely setting and the food is alright, although pricey. The Kouign Amann was shaped as a bâton which was a first to me. It was good but kind of dry. I don't know if I would pay 5$ for yesterdays pastries again... Another thing: the wait was insane. I understand it just opened and it is busy. But waiting 15 minutes to order, an additional 20 after ordering a salad was a bit much. The lady who ordered the same salad after me also got hers before mine and I had to ask what happened to mine. First off, want to start by saying the crepes and pastries are delicious and the staff is obviously working hard and generally very friendly albeit sometimes seem a bit frazzled. My issue is with the management. It's happened to me on multiple occasions both here and in the Castro SF location where I come to this cafe at a reasonably early hour before noon and sometimes as early as 9am where almost all pastries are sold out, line to order is very long, they're obviously understaffed, and today after waiting half an hour in line not only were the pastries sold out but they were out of buckwheat crepes too. I mean come on how can you run out of that when you are a crepe place! Management please do better with adequately stocking and staffing your establishment. If I'm making a trip to meet up with friends at your cafe and it's not towards the end of the day I expect the full menu to be available or at least most of it. I wouldn't have written this review except this has happened to me on a few different occasions and wanted management to know they are turning off customers. Pastries are good, crepes are hit and miss. I've been here twice and the first time I had a savory crepe of spinach, goat cheese and honey on a buckwheat crepe, which was truly good. The coffee is classic french and I enjoy that as well. I think the pastries look good but I've not tried them. The only problem is the line, the wait, and the sweet crepes which are way too sweet in my opinion. I had a blueberry and my daughter wanted peach but they ran out so she had strawberry. They put strawberry or blueberry preserves on the entire top of the crepe, plus berries, which is way too much and way too sweet and not my experience of traditional french crepes. I guess I'll have to specify in future how I want my crepe, but that will probably lead to a longer wait as well. read more

This is a review of front counter pastries only. French pastries are the best I've tasted outside of Paris and north of San Francisco. The croissants are very light and, flaky and rich with buttery layers. The chocolate insde of the pain au chocolat is quality chocolate and the fruit pastries are filled with is fresh and flavorful fruits. Addictive, as I keep returning. read more

Just had brunch for the second time at this delightful French bakery/creperie in Larkspur Landing. So far, I've tried the morning bun, French flan, cappuccino, Chai tea and a taste of my companion's ham & egg crepe. All were delicious. The people at the table next to ours had Croque Monsieur, and they were thrilled with it. The only tricky part here is that there are three different menu cards that you have to pick up at the register, if you prefer that to just reading the menu signs at the door. Get in line and order. Your entree is delivered to your table. It's a bit self help for silverware, napkins, sugar and carafe of water if you just order bakery items (although these will come out with your entree if you order one). There are a few small tables indoors, intimate, cute. But the real draw is the patio, where large trees offer dappled shade in a quiet, blissful environment. Tres French. We like it so much we'll be back, and will visit the Mill Valley location for dinner. (Get there before noon if you can so the bakery options are still plentiful and outdoor seating is more readily available). read more
