Standard KBBQ AYCE restaurant. I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night and it was busy. I joined the waitlist through the tablet up front and you can also join the waitlist via the Yelp app. I joined the waitlist, but only had to wait less than 10 minutes since there were only two in my party. Inside, the space was pretty big with self-service food bars and many tables. However, it was very musty which made it hard to breathe with all the smoke coming from the meat. The restaurant should consider better ventilation practices rather than just propping the front door open. The surfaces were also a bit sticky. My friend and I ordered the B menu at $32 and it was good, but I think I would just get the cheaper menu next time. It came with additional meats, but I feel like I mostly just ate meats from the cheapest menu. The meats were standard and good. I liked the brisket, pork, belly, and beef belly the best. The 1 unique meat we had from the B menu which was the prime angus beef sirloin was just okay to me. I wasn't the biggest fan of the seasoning. The self-service bar food was typical buffet quality. Not the freshest. I wish the tempura was crispy. The sushi rolls were pretty decent though. For the sauces, I wish there was more variety, it felt very basic with just things like soy sauce, sesame oil, and minced garlic. We also ordered soju at $13 per bottle which was expensive, but went well with the meat. The best part was the service. One of the servers serving us was super nice and kind. He served us enthusiastically with a smile and checked up on us from time to time whereas some of the other servers were hard to flag down or weren't very welcoming. For parking, there's ample parking as the restaurant is located in a plaza. Overall, an okay experience here. I would come back here for a casual AYCE eat option if I was in the area, but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to come back here. read more

To simply put it, DONT COME HERE. If you check their newest reviews, they are all bought and bots. All 5 star reviews from profiles that don't have photos. We had a really disappointing experience at this Korean BBQ spot. From the moment we sat down, there was no service at all--no one came to take our order or check on us. We were left just sitting there. To make things worse, no one ever refilled our water the entire time until we had to physically go up and ask, which is pretty basic service. When the food finally came, it wasn't even what we ordered. The staff never came back to fix the mistake or even acknowledge it. The quality of the meat was honestly terrible. It was thick-cut, tough, and hard to chew--definitely not what you expect from Korean BBQ. I chose the B+ Menu, and was very disappointed with my experience at BWON shabu & bbq. I've been to many buffet and Korean bbq places, but the food quality here was not great. The buffet selection was disappointing--the fried rice was sticky and tasted like leftover, the meat selection was limited, and the soup was extremely salty. On the top of that, the restaurant was uncomfortably warm with no AC. The service also needs major improvement. Most of the staff were not attentive, and we had to wait for several times whenever we needed assistance. I do want to give credit to our server, Fabian, who was attentive and provided good service. After our first order of meat, it felt like all the servers started avoiding us. I think they divide the tables up, and each server is responsible for their own section. When I tried to get help, everyone just said, "I'll get your server." Really? That's what the last two servers said too. The meat itself was on the lower-quality side. I wouldn't say it was terrible, but it definitely wasn't melt-in-your-mouth quality either. The grills made it worse -- the flames often burned the meat or cooked it unevenly. BWON offers both KBBQ and shabu, and it looked like there was only one grill and one stove thingy per table. They didn't have beef tongue when they opened on a Saturday afternoon, which was disappointing since everyone in our party was looking forward to eating some. Overall, the tastiest meats for our KBBQ experience were beef belly, prime angus sirloin, and brisket. Beef belly was thinly sliced and fatty, sirloin was tender and lightly salted, and brisket varied in texture but was still a go-to. Most of the proteins were already prepared on trays and stored in fridges, so orders came out pretty quickly, which was nice. Our menu included the buffet, which had veggie tempura, cut sushi rolls (didn't even bother trying these haha), fruits, standard banchan, and a sauce station. I actually liked the umami-tart ponzu sauce from the sauce station more than the provided brisket sauce (too sweet). It's a large establishment with plenty of seating and a high ceiling, which made the place seem less cramped and not as smoky compared to other AYCE joints. I hear they get very busy, but luckily it was super quiet when we went, and parking in the lot was easy. Coming from a server of 4 years, the service here can't even be called service. Food in the food bar was stale. The meat plates have less than 8 pieces of meat on them (and they are very thin pieces). We came in at 11pm, got our first round of meat (3 plates) around 11:10 pm and finished them around 11:25 to 11:30 pm. We were ready for our second round by then and was looking for the servers but they were nowhere to be found. At exactly 11:41pm I looked at my phone and just checked the time. We waited a few mins later and no service. We saw the server run by on the opposite side of the restaurant to seat more parties but didn't even glance in our direction. All 3 of the tables in our corner of the restaurant (around table 12) didn't get service for at least 20 mins. One of the servers eventually came to our area around 11:51 pm because another customer came up to them to get the check. The server didn't even look around at other tables in that area to see if they needed anything; mind you we were already waiting 20 mins with nothing on our grill. They came back to collect the check and still again didn't look around. This was happening while the other server (older man with a mask) sat two tables and served them two rounds of meat already. By 11:51pm we were fed up and had to go to the front and asked to get the check. They said they couldn't do anything because so many people come in. We were in the restaurant for an hour and was only served in total 3 plates of meat, each having 8 pieces of meat. Tldr; The servers don't check up on tables. They prioritized getting people in rather than letting their current customers order. We sat in the restaurant for an hour and got 3 plates of meat, each containing around 8 pieces of meat. Well, first we were seated at the corner where the lighting was terrible. You can't see if the food is cooked or not. The fan was also very weak. We were moved to the table with more light after speaking to the manager. The smoke went everywhere else but up the pipe. As far as food selections, there's no chopped garlic or butter to grease the grill. The meat tenderizer they used took away the taste of the meats. This place is located on a strip mall with plenty of parking. We were a little concerned of the area since it was a bit sketch around there. I had seen adds for this place and I was interested since we used to live the kpot place that was in hacienda/rowland heights. I was really craving soup and my bf kbbq so this was the place. We went in for a late lunch so close to their opening time a bit past 4pm. Staff were very welcoming and we waited just a few mins to be seated as they settled down from opening. Once sat, they promptly provided water and advised to go over to the buffet as it may be a few mins since they just opened for the day. The first station of the buffet you have self serve of: ponzu, sesame oil, hot sauce, Himalayan salt, soy sauce, the usual red spicy paste, and pepper. The second station is the one in my picture that had a variety of veggies, rice paper, pasta salad, potato salad, and the fresh salad. The third part had a variety of sushi rolls, YES SUSHI! That was a surprise since it's the first time I see that at a kpot/kbbq place. The last station had wasabi, glass noodles, kimchi, Tteokbokki and other add ons. We did the kpot and kbbq and since it was Friday it had to be the B menu, not a big deal. We ordered a pitcher of Sapporo that took a bit since they had to tap a new keg. After sitting down from the buffet, our server was quick to come by and take our broth and meat orders. She was super helpful guiding us on the popular item. The meats came out surprisingly fast! They have them meal prepped on the dishes so they quickly bring them up to you or use the AGV. Our server was great and kept checking on our grill to change it or if we needed anything else. The tables are big but with all the dishes and everything you get, you do use bigger tables. They sat us on a table for four and ended using the whole space. They play background music and overall noise level on the higher end like almost every other kbbq place. There are no steps to get in so accessible to anyone. Everything was great and definitely a 5 star review until the end. I was asked if I had checked in on yelp which I said I had. Then I was asked to leave a good review for a mochi and show them that I had posted it to them so they could take a pic. This caught me a bit off guard and it didn't sit well so I declined to participate. There was no need for this and I know they are not supposed to do that.
