Donna J. We have treasured this truly historic haven on three occasions in the past three years--going solo with my husband, then with other friends; and last year with our immediate family. We plan to return whenever we can! June of 2011 was especially meaningful as our family occupied all but one room for three nights. We experienced a wonderful dinner by the exceptional chef who prepares the every other month entertainment evenings. We've come to know both Tina and Vikki very well and love em like crazy! They are very real people and have no pretenses. (Perhaps that puts off some, but not us!!). Due to the age of Bybee, we really appreciate the care and love that goes into keeping this B & B authentic. There is a lot of artful and homey decor; and amenities that both Tina and Vikki, the owners, have thought of everything. After reading a previous negative review, I can definitely tell that you would need to hear both sides of the story to even believe her one star review! This inn is precious and painstakingly maintained, so "some" folks who visit really don't understand what goes into preserving this inn and making sure that all the beautiful decor is where it should be. It's not easy either, to host a wedding and expect the guests to understand the terms of the contract that the bride an groom agreed to abide by. These ladies are not trying to be mean or spying, but the expense of innocent thoughtlessness can cause great damage at Bybee. Both Tina and Vikki take it very seriously. They have put intense labor and hard work into this inn and it shows in every aspect of this B & B. I haven't seen this standard in any elite hotel I have stayed at!. Most all of us regulars certainly understand and want to preserve it's charm! We've loved every unique meal we have received and it was by no means measly in any way or on any visit!! We've enjoyed the Americana, The Elizabethean Room and the Governor's room, and they are immaculate and luxurious. As a true gardener, the grounds at Bybee are so unique and are exceptional compared to any that I have ever visited or even walked by. The peacefullness is just something you can't explain. I guess things can go wrong in any given situation, but with our friends and family, Bybee Historic Inn is one of the best places in Oregon! read more

After staying at Bybee's Historic Inn, 883 Old Stage Rd., Jacksonville, OR 97530 the nights of April 14 and 15, 2012, the two managers/owners, Tina Flaherty and Vikki Maddock, came into my room shortly before 11 am checkout saying in a rehearsed way, "We're going to charge your credit card for the cut crystal glass you took." (Meaning from the room.) I said that they would NOT be charging it because I did not take their glass. To which they said, "We're going to search your bags." I said they could. One of them started to search my bags as we began to walk out to my van. I am a retired professor, 63 and disabled. Tina was outside with me when I said I was going to call the police because of their false accusation of theft. She said don't call the police. I said, then go in there and the two of you find the cut crystal glass. When she returned, saying "they" had found it, I asked where it was, and she said, "She didn't say." When I asked if they were still accusing me, she said no, I was not responsible for the cut crystal glass. I said, "Put it in writing." After this was done and I left, Officer McKay of Jackson County Sheriff's office took my complaint and suggested I also file one with the BBB. On April 24, 2012, I wrote Flaherty and Maddock, demanding a refund of the $199 plus $2 tax I paid. Their reply: that it was not their intent to cause me psychological harm or accuse me of theft. They were merely asking me where the cut crystal glass was and if I "could please check my belongings in case I unintentionally packed the glass." These two lying weirdos are crazy and I deserve a refund for their ruination of my vacation and their raising of my blood pressure. They seem to like single women guests for their scam, as per the 2011 comments of Keri L. on yelp.com. If BBB had this inn's address and zip listed CORRECTLY in Jacksonville OR, NOT IN CENTRAL POINT, OR, more complaints could and would have appeared. Also, the breakfasts were bad and measly. After Tina stated that a teapot on the mantle was made by someone who made them for Princess Di, I looked underneath it and there was a sticker saying "Made in China." Tina said "Oh" and quickly removed it with her fingernail. Need I say more, such as to avoid this place like the plague, or what? read more

As a "veteran" (over 2 years, over 12 stays) patron of Bybee's Historic Inn, I can without a doubt state that if there were any problems with the operation of the business, I would have noticed. As a matter of fact, my experience with the innkeepers and the property has been only the highest example of professional protocol, while also providing a safe and warm retreat during my business travels. While the food is spectacular, the extra attention to detail in the rooms and grounds is very apparent and the hosts are warm, caring, and intuitive. No fine point is overlooked, and I have on many occasions had to ask for special considerations, as my business tends to be a scheduling challenge, and Tina and Vikki always deliver. The house should really be a museum. I would not be surprised if the US Department of the Interior were to declare the property a National Treasure because it is that rich in history and authentic ambiance. Anyone who has stayed there knows what I am talking about. There are pieces of history everywhere you walk, and Tina and Vikki's efforts to preserve those qualities are understandable and appreciated. As a road warrior, finding a good place from which to operate and also to unwind is a golden opportunity. Bybee's Historic Inn has provided that very hard-to-find "retreat" for me in the Rogue Valley, and I will never stay at another lodging choice as long as Bybee's continues to provide me a second home. Balanced, informative Yelp reviews tend to offer pros and cons. That way prospective customers can know what to look for, while also offering the proprietors an opportunity to correct perceived flaws in their operating practices. If I were to list a "con" for Bybee's, it would have to be that the place is so good, it makes it very, very difficult for me to leave. read more

I recently spent a long weekend at Bybee's again -- I return there time after time, and never want to leave once I'm there! Vikki and Tina are not only the owners, but the very careful caretakers who make every effort to keep it in compliance with the national historic register requirements. In addition to their dedicated oversight of the Inn and its beautiful grounds, they have established a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Other B&Bs I've stayed at are not this way, and often the owners seem to be overbearing or hovering. These two fine cousins open their Inn, help you get comfortable and then leave you alone to enjoy. They obviously take great pride in keeping the building and furnishings as 'original' as possible, and I am happy to take respect it also. The rooms and furnishings are always clean as a whistle, and they give a feeling of elegance and luxury.The breakfasts are a full meal with fresh fruit, gourmet egg preparations, bacon, homemade gourmet scone, muffin, blintzes, juices, coffee, tea - I usually can't eat it all - though it is so good that I try.These owners are always ready to please and make my stay comfortable. For anyone looking for a rejuvenating retreat were you can get a good night's sleep, receive a professional massage, and wind down at your own pace, this is one of the best kept secrets in southern Oregon. read more

We had a great deal here through TravelZoo and we are so glad we took it! This is a beautiful old home, just far enough from town to make you feel like you're in the country, but an easy bike ride in if you don't want to drive. We stayed in the Americana room which is in a separate building behind the main house. We had no upstairs neighbors and it was very quiet at night. The furnishings were very nice, we had a couch where we could sit and watch TV (much better than sitting on a bed) and the bathroom was huge, especially the shower. I think it may be because it was a handicap accessible room. The owners were very nice and wonderful chefs. Our two breakfasts were delicious, every course. I could get very used to having someone make breakfast like that for me every morning! The scones and clotted cream melted in your mouth and the egg dishes were well seasoned, hot when served and just the right size, not super-sized like so many places feel obligated to do now. We even got to watch the comings and goings of the birds that lived in the little birdhouse outside our front door. The chocolate covered strawberries and champagne were waiting for us on our arrival just as promised. We met several nice people at each of the breakfasts; I would definitely recommend this place. read more

We just spent a full weekend at Bybee's Historic Bed and Breakfast in Jacksonville! We couldn't have felt more at home and at the same time were treated as very welcome guests. Our room, (Pioneer) was comfortable, charming and private. We toured every room in this beautiful home; each was artfully decorated with fascinating historic appointments and inviting! The welcoming wine marked our arrival. The three course breakfasts were deliciously prepared with local fare and the superb presentation on the porch overlooking the valley and hills -- a magical beginning of each day! We also enjoyed the numerous outdoor porches, gardens, and verandas where we enjoyed reading while partaking of sorbet and ice cream treats. We have stayed in bed and breakfasts in the US and in Europe, Byees is the best! On top of all of that, Tina Marie and Vick Lynn are just naturally terrific hosts! I recently had the great pleasure of spending a weekend at Bybee's Historic Inn. First of all, the house, lawns and gardens are perfection. Everything is immaculate, elegant and so pleasing to the eye. My room was decorated with history in mind but it was light, bright, airy and very comfortable (Victorian Room). The breakfasts were truly gourmet with crepes, scones and other delectables that were fresh from the oven and served with an artists touch. Absolutely delicious! It truly is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. And, lastly, Tina and Vikki are thoughtful and charming. I felt they really cared about every aspect of my stay. I would highly recommend Bybee's to anyone whether for just one night or an extended stay. The Inn would make a wonderful place for a destination wedding. I think Keri L. (a few reviews down) needs to have her head examined.... This place is great!!! I've never met such kind hostesses (Vikki and Tina) who were so eager to please and make one's stay a memorable one!! My wife and I were in town to attend the Brittfest concert on Sept. 9th, 2011. Bybee's prices were very reasonable-especially when compared to the other B&Bs in the area, so we booked a night there. These kind ladies even drove us to and from the concert that night! Now that was impressive! Not to mention the five-star, five-course breakfast that was prepared for us the next morning-yummy!! While we were there, they hosted a wedding full of people who were EXTREMELY satisfied with the service that was provided to them. We spent 2 days here and enjoyed every minute. Located about a 1/2 mile outside Jacksonville, a historic town, it is serene and charming. our room was large and the bed comfortable. Vikki & Tina served us wonderful breakfasts that met our dietary requests (low fat and low sodium.) Breakfast was served on the back porch with relaxing music and fresh flowers on the tables. The house is very welcoming and has DVDs, book, and board games you are welcome to use for free. There is also a butler's pantry where you can find cool drinks and ice cream for a snack. This home is immaculate and we highly recommend it. It is less than 30 minutes from Ashland so if you are going to the Shakespeare Festival and prefer to stay somewhere more tranquil, this is the place! read more

Vikki and Tina are the most amazing and welcoming hosts we have ever experienced. After the first visit to the Bybee Inn, we were hooked. Subsequent visits to Southern Oregon, we only wanted to stay here. I am a life-long diabetic and I was surprised by special sugar free homemade treats many times during our visits. The rooms feel special and the breakfasts are fabulous. In the evenings, we would sit in one of the sitting areas outside and were often joined by Vikki and Tina. If felt like sitting and visiting with special friends. At some point, you realize that Vikki and Tina and the Bybee Inn become a reason to return to Southern Oregon to visit. read more

This was the most charming experience! The grounds are perfect and lovely. The bed and breakfast is "exceptional". The linens are the highest quality, all the essentials down to bath salts for the jacuzzi tub were thoughtful and enjoyable. Not one thing out of place and full of a beauty. The owners, Vicki and Tina pay close attention to details and it shows. If you ever want to stay at a bed and breakfast and feel like royalty this is the one you need to go to! Bybee's is exceptional. A perfect blend of history and warm hospitality. The owners Vikki and Tina are the real treasures in this beautiful historic inn. They are wonderful, they went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. We enjoyed one of the character dinners and then spent the night in the Americana room. The dinner was incredible and without a doubt the best meal I have ever had. The presentation and expertise which the meal was prepared were evident in each memorable bite. We stayed at Bybee's Bed & Breakfast for 2 nights and they were very enjoyable! Gourmet breakfasts, beautiful grounds and very kind hosts...what more would you want? We stayed in the Americana room with its roomy king-size bed, watched a movie with our granddaughter and snuck out at midnight to see the solar-powered butterflies, hummingbirds and lighted bushes! Great historic mansion, plenty of room to roam around or sit down and enjoy the sitting rooms inside...or enjoy yourself out on the porch. If I could give this B&B a six, I would! We stayed in the Elizabethan Room for 4 nights and had an amazing stay. That room had a queen bed and a very large double jacuzzi tub. The gourmet breakfasts were to die for, and the ladies were so great to make everything dairy-free for me! They even made me a dairy-free snack to come home to at the end of each day! We really felt comfortable using all of the house, and really liked the guest fridge/freezer and separate small kitchen. Great, romantic bed and breakfast-best I have ever stayed at! read more

Impeccably restored historic house, Jacuzzi in-room, awesome breakfast... and get the massage. This place is great. We stayed for one night on the way to our wedding in oregon, as our last chance to pamper ourselves before the onslought of family. With a massage, jacuzzi, champagne, and a dvd, we were totally vegged out. It was an excellent decision. The yard is beautiful, too, and I can imagine that it would be an excellent place for a wedding, easter egg hunt, picnic, reunion, etc. But, whatever you do, get the massage. Seriously. read more

This was the best b & b we've ever stayed at. The mansion is outstanding. The Innkeepers are very welcoming. Great hospitality, they were offering wine, cheese or cookies and ice cream bars. Catering to all personalities. The breakfast was three courses served beautifully on their scenic deck. They even served us early because we needed to get on the road. The price was very reasonable. I had the most amazing weekend staying at this inn. The first morning we were greeted with a baked cinnamon pear, herb potatoes, a baked greyure scramble, and a warm scone with home made whipped cream. Then we stayed in these old-world luxurious rooms. The grounds are beautiful and there is an outdoor fireplace that has seating ideal for enjoying the outdoors of Oregon in the fall. Anyone passing through should consider extending their trip to stop for the night. read more
