My family recently booked and stayed at the Magnolia Inn. There were some problems. The hypersonic deer repellers were so loud my daughter was affected by this, both on the property and while across the street at the farmer's market. It was very uncomfortable. On their second night there the fire alarms went off three times ruining a good nights sleep. No one from the Sun mentioned this or apologized. And lastly, the bed mattress was too soft creating back pain. I told her to stay at the Wine Country Inn next time, which was more than adequate. Very disappointing experience.. and embarrassing for me. no read more

This boutique hotel is very cute, nicely decorated and the staff were super friendly. The location is nice for walking to restaurants & shopping. The bed was comfy, and each room had its own bathroom which isn't always the case at bed & breakfasts. The continental breakfast was small but thoughtful, we skipped it the second morning and opted for a full breakfast at Dancin Winery. Our room was downstairs, near the kitchen & back patio area. It was NOISY!! We could hear the person above us walking around, showering, blowing their nose and flushing the toilet. From the kitchen we could hear talking, making items, opening/slamming the back door, etc. The walls are THIN! The parking is also minimal and our first night all of the spots were taken by 4pm when we checked in. Which would have been fine if the ladies checking us in were able to better answer about some parking options & if it was permitted to park there or not. Overall our stay was fine. Just not as relaxing and restful as I was hoping for... recommend for deep, hard to wake sleepers only. read more

Valentine's Weekend. Surprised to say that our stay was nothing like we had read before visiting. Upon arrival, the older woman was pleasant and very helpful. Sad some guests were so noisy that we were kept from sleeping both evenings. Loud walking, slamming of doors, loud voices, the noise was constant. It is lovely that each room has its own restroom, but you can hear people blowing their noses, showering, and flushing toilets. Not a peaceful visit. read more

The room itself was pretty small and plain but we were not there much as we were out exploring. Nice central location with a limited but tasty breakfast. What a dream! My spouse and I booked the whole Magnolia Hotel to lodge our family traveling from out town during our wedding weekend. Working with Jeff was a breeze to make sure all our family's needs were met. We had access to all 12 rooms, all communal spaces, all 3 kitchens and the outdoor patio. The hotel is gorgeous, so divinely decorated, the beds are SO comfortable and we love that each room has its own private bathroom. The price was super for the value of the experience. The hotel/Inn sits on a main road that gets somewhat noisy if you have a room at the front of the hotel. A typical continental breakfast is available. We decided we'd rather have great coffee and freshly cooked breakfast at the Goid Bean three blocks away. I recommend staying at Magnolia Hotel which is an old late 1920's sanatorium health spa. read more

Magnolia Hotel is absolutely beautiful and very peaceful. The large 2 story home is on a well kept grassy lawn and a corner lot with a huge magnolia tree, plants and flowers, Its only 2 blocks from the historic downtown. Restaurants and wine tasting rooms are all within easy walking distance. There's a good Pilates studio one block away. Rooms are immaculately clean with a very comfortable bed and 800 count cotton linens. Very comfy!! Breakfast is ample with artisan bread, butter, homemade raspberry jam, fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade granola, and coffee. There are several different porches and a balcony to relax outside. We have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 10-15 years. This last time was our first since the new owners completely modernized the hotel. The whole experience was lovely, staff are great, the kitchen and lounge and yard areas are beautiful, the room was decorated nicely, everything was very clean, welcoming and comfortable. We really enjoy Jacksonville and have typically stayed at the Jacksonville Inn. We decided to do something different and stayed at the Magnolia Inn and I am glad we did. Although you give up amenities like an onsite bar and restaurant nothing in Jacksonville is very far apart. The Magnolia is decorated impeccably and the opportunities to enjoy an adult beverage or morning coffee on the various decks makes up for no restaurant. The rooms aren't huge, but they are big enough and with nice private bathrooms. The hosts are attentive and courteous without being overbearing We will be back there! read more

I got a room at the Magnolia for my parents 56th anniversary. I was feeling apprehensive about some details so I called after booking and the owner took all the time I needed to help in every way he could. He was super helpful in planning a special stay. One of the rare places where you find someone who really cares about what they are doing. Fast forward to my parents stay, they looooved it. This is our second time here, first under the new owners. We enjoyed it the first time and even more now. The inside has been completely renovated and it is very nicely done. The staff was very helpful. We wanted to use the outdoor kitchen on the back patio to BBQ one night, and they provided us with everything we needed. This was my first time staying at a B&B rather than a Marriott or other similar hotel and I loved it. The owner was so genuinely welcoming it caught me off guard, then I realized, "Oh yeah, he's welcoming me into his home!" That's a very different feeling than going to a hotel and having an employee welcome me to the place they work...not even comparable. Everything was better than I expected, (but I didn't know what to expect). I wasn't sure if for the low price I paid I'd be sharing a bathroom with other guests, but was thrilled to find my own clean and cozy bathroom in our tiny room. I was on a trip with my son and we stayed in a little room with two twin beds and it was just right for us. Everything was perfectly clean and comfortable. I had a very traumatic experience in a Hilton hotel, and I dislike staying in any hotel now. Although I am able to avoid Hilton's, I cannot avoid hotels in general and have had to stay in then more often than I like. Being in this bed and breakfast did not trigger that same post traumatic response in me at all. I felt safe and cozy like I would at a trusted friend or family's residence. read more

I am so excited to write a review as this hotel was outstanding! It far exceeded our expectation. We stayed in the room on the first level at the bottom of the stairs and it was delightful. The decor in this place was gorgeous. I cannot say enough about how pleased we were with our choice to stay here. It was very quiet and peaceful and the continental breakfast was better than most hotel continental breakfasts- delicious! Jacksonville is a sweet little town and we loved staying here. We cannot wait to come back for a visit!! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. It was fun to meet Jeff, the owner the night before we left. Wow! Cannot day enough good tho ha about this cute place. Owner is super welcoming - he left the lights on for us since we arrived late. Our room was right across from the breakfast area and we didn't hear a thing during his set-up. Speaking of breakfast - yummy coffee, fruit, yogurt, baked goods, etc. which we enjoyed on the outdoor patio. Comfy bed, fluffy towels, warm shower. My husband and I stayed at the Magnolia Inn on August 14, 2021 for the last night of our vacation in the Northwest. The Inn is located in the middle of Jacksonville across from the City Hall. The hosts provided a homey, nonintrusive atmosphere. I really appreciated the excellent breakfast of many choices including delicious homemade blueberry bread pudding that can be eaten peacefully outside on the veranda. Our room was cozy, clean, comfortable and beautifully appointed with tasteful decorations , fine linens and lace curtains. The white soft blanket on our bed was, as I put it, "wrapped in bunny" ! The towels really are amazingly soft!!! I didn't want to get out of bed. We also received personalized attention from the owner and housekeeper who helped us prepare for our long journey home. We are looking forward to our next visit at this excellent B and B. read more

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay over the Halloween season. Highly recommend the changing of the fall leaves. All of Jacksonville's trees were a blaze of color! We took the Haunted Trolley ride one night. Walked in the cemetery after dark, on Halloween night. ( no goblins or ghosts or anything creepy)..And watched all the families trick or treating.. We loved having the Inn to come home to each day or night as we ventured out. Its a clean welcoming, has all, and I mean all the amenities one could want. We stayed in the one pet friendly room. We brought our doggie. (Olivia Room # 1) It is also the only room located downstairs. Great for taking our dog for walks, etc. We loved the expanded continental breakfast. No having to sit at a specific hour. 7:30-10:00 am daily. Quite a bit of carbs but there were hard boiled eggs, peanut butter, yogurt and instant oatmeal at least. Lots of fresh tasty fruit, home baked pastries, etc. The communal breakfast room (open all day) is a great place to just hang out, visit, heat up leftovers or even make a sandwich, (With your own supplies). They just ask that you respect quiet hours after 10:00 pm. About the only bummer ( and not their fault), is that 5th Ave. is quite a busy, noisy street. Especially when it rained. Traffic starts up at 5:30 am and quiets down by 10:00 pm. They provide ear plugs though. We did not have a choice as to which room we could stay in. But if you do, take the rooms facing the back of the property. The Helen Suite is slightly bigger. Come and enjoy! Can't wait to return! read more

My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway as a gift for my 40th birthday, and it was just what this tired mama needed. Staying at the Magnolia Inn what the perfect retreat. The atmosphere was peaceful, clean, and beautiful. Each morning there was a delicious breakfast made ready for us to eat at our leisure. All around the Inn were places to tuck away to read a book or play a game from their library in the hall. The beds were sublime - so comfortable, with soft, beautiful bedding. The Inn is just around the corner from all of the shops and restaurants, and the great trails over by Britt Gardens, of which we thoroughly enjoyed. 5 stars from us - we would definitely stay again. read more
