This adorable breakfast shop serves delightful sandwiches and fresh coffee. I got the mushroom + egg sandwich and it was pretty good but I wasn't blown away. The wait for the sandwiches is a bit long but the inside of the shop is extremely cozy and just has a great vibe overall. read more

OMG their breakfast sandwiches are to die for... I get C&B once or twice a week and it never disappoints. The way they cook their eggs with the fluffiness of the buttery ciabatta is simply *chef's kiss*, amazing. The pork is always a cherry on top. I saw this place on TikTok and had to go. I'm surprised I hadn't seen it before since I live in EV. This cafe is absolutely one of my favorites now. The staff are always incredibly kind to both me and my puppy. The place is split between two buildings, a laundromat which has been converted to a cafe, and the kitchen. Very very unique! The coffee was surprisingly good and sandwich was something I've never eaten before. A saucy Italian, veggie, and cheese filled crisp baguette. I admit it was pretty messy to eat and kind salty, but I would def order again. I can't help but go back at least once a week!! read more

This no frills cute casual cafe was popping when I stopped by. They had a coffee section and area to get your food and had outdoor seating, so I feel like this would be a great spot to catch up with a friend and enjoy some east village people watching. Egg and cheese sandwich: 7/10 This was a good choice if you're not a big pork belly person and need something chill for a hangover. The bread was good, very sourdough and fluffy and flavorful. The eggs were soft and the cheese was melty, but we both felt that this sandwich was severely lacking without the hot sauce we got. I think salt and pepper could've been a good addition too. It was simple and good, but nothing I'd stand in a long line again for or rave to a friend about. The service was fast and very nice though! read more

TLDR: great for a quick less expensive bite! I recommend getting a sandwich here and heading to Tompkins to enjoy the food and atmosphere I love this place for a quick but still absolutely delicious bite! I've been here a few times and after trying a few items off their menu, my absolute favorite thing to get here is potatoes and their Pig & Egg sandwich. The Pig & Egg sandwich is super rich and the pork is fatty and melts in your mouth. The bread they use is super soft and the eggs are a soft scramble. It's so good and so decadent yet doesn't make you feel too heavy after. I am a huge fan of potatoes and I think that the potatoes here are super delicious. They're super crispy potatoes and the portion is huge. Honorable mentions go to the Merguez sandwich which reminds me a bit of a normal sausage patty. It's still a delicious sandwich though for those who aren't as willing to try new things. If you're in the mood for a plate, then I would get the Chicken and Eggs! This plate comes with chicken thighs, chicken jus (thick chicken gravy), fries, egg and salad. The plate is definitely enough for 2 people to share! Delicious local breakfast sandwich spot. I do agree with some of the reviews as far as the people that work there... don't expect any niceties here, but nobody is outright rude by any means, just a little cool, and also like, chill welcome to New York you paying for the food not a show. And the food is worth it! I've always gotten the egg and cheese. The roll is that perfect slight crunch but still squishy and airy in the inside and great flavor. The eggs and perfectly scrambled, rich and creamy! And the cheese just brings it all together. The coffee is ok, nothing extraordinary but perfectly fine! This place is great for a morning bite! The veggie sandwich is my fave. I really don't like their coffee however, but luckily they have teas and sodas as an alternative. It can get a little busy towards noon so if you want a seat come a little earlier. Cheers to the awesome guy who takes the order. He's always charming sweet and hilarious! read more

Ok, so I give all the credit to my two friends that live near here and absolutely raved about this place; it is incredible! "Small but mighty!" First, let me say that upon walking up to this to-go style cafe, I had the pleasure of listening to live music. They had someone playing in their recently renovated outdoor awning. There's no tables or anything, but it's a nice spot to sit with your coffee or enjoy a quick bite to eat. The service made the already pleasant experience even more delightful The guy working there, I assume he works there quite frequently as the customers all seemed to know him, was absolutely hilarious on top of being very attentive. The iced coffee with oat milk I had was delicious but what really blew my socks off was the breakfast sandwich. I ordered the homemade chorizo Sammy with added egg + cheese. Wowza, it's so flavorful, huge ( the chorizo is basically in the style of a burger patty), and had just the perfect about of spice. I definitely recommend with the egg and cheese because it helped cool it down a bit. A neighborhood gem, can't wait to come back for more. read more

I got the pig and egg sandwich today and it is freaking awesome. The pork belly is very thick, but it is super juicy with a perfect proportion (for flavours, not for health) of fat and lean portions. The egg is done perfectly as always like their other dishes. Bringing them to the Tompkins Square Park lawn just a few steps away on a sunny day basically gives you the best lunch break you could ever hope for. We got two pig and egg sandwiches. One had a massive juicy pork belly, and the other was 1/4 the size (pictured here). The big one was a 10/10. This one was an 8/10. So hope you get a big one, but either way it's still pretty delicious. They cook the egg perfectly. (Ask for some hot sauce too - you can tell it's a handmade blend). Compared with European cities I've been to, New York has a surprising lack of good bakeries. Instead, there are endless coffee shops selling the same sad shelves of mass-produced pastries. C&B, though, is the real thing. Everything is baked fresh right there and it is amazing. Croissants, doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, and of course excellent bread. There's no longer indoor seating but if it's not too cold the outdoor space is fine to sit and have a pastry or sandwich and a cup of their excellent coffee. If you want a hearty breakfast, try the merguez sandwich. But everything there is good. Everyone there is super friendly, too, including the owner who's there every day at work in the kitchen. My only complaint is that I wish there were more places like this in the city. read more

C&B has been on my list for a while because who doesn't love a great breakfast sandwich? The only problem was that I was craving a bacon egg and cheese and this wasn't exactly the right place for that. The closest thing they had was their pig and egg sandwich. Don't get me wrong..it was really tasty but it didn't exactly satisfy the craving. It also could have been executed better. It could have had more salt and the pork belly could have been more tender and crispier on the outside. I added cheese but it wasn't very cheesy and it wasn't cheddar which I usually prefer. The house made roll was pretty good but I would have rather had a croissant. It also could have used a sauce of some sort. The egg itself was the best part since they were perfectly fluffy and not overcooked. Overall I would go back but maybe switch up my order since a lot of the other menu items sounded delicious. read more

This could be the best breakfast in NYC -if you do sit here (during non-COVID times) it's a bit small, but that's the only downside -they make magnificent eggs. Can't emphasize how high quality the dishes here are. Get the pig and egg...it's worth every penny -some dishes have a middle eastern twist to them, which is creative and enjoyable -staff very friendly and attentive to detail 10/10. Such a great spot. They play awesome music, make fantastic coffee and egg sandwiches, and have one the more exciting pastry cases in the neighborhood. Plus, there always seems to be live jazz outside the shop on weekends. It may take a while to get your breakfast, but it is worth it. read more

A cockroach walked across my arm while I was eating here. I quickly blew it off (Where did it come from? The ceiling???). Then I saw another scurrying across the bench my friends were sitting on. The food tasted good, but they got our order wrong. They offered to remedy it for us by bringing us a chorizo sausage, which they brought, but it was entirely undercooked - raw in the center. Food tasted fine, but there's no way I can come back here after that cockroach experience. read more

Came to get breakfast with friends. They have a twist on the normal breakfast sandwich. But either way it is delicious! Even the pastries are delicious, especially when they just came out the over. The little cafe itself is absolutely adorable! It's a small area but they still dress it up nice and super cute. Plus the staff is nice and sweet. read more

Stopped by C&B for the first time a few days ago and am genuinely upset we hadn't been here before! The mushroom and egg breakfast sandwich is seriously one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had in a while - the bread was perfectly crispy, the mushrooms and greens were delicious, and the sherry vinegar cut the heaviness so well. On top of that the coffee was good, the donut was perfectly chewy and flavorful without being too sweet, and the overall vibes were exactly what I want in a place. read more

Good for people who: want to grab a quick coffee/breakfast food Bad for people who: want cheap coffee Stopped by here real quick on a Sunday morning (11 AM-ish) with a friend. We were on our way to a brunch spot elsewhere but we needed some caffeine to fuel our walk and wake us up from our incredibly late night out (berlin ayooo and rip to our almost karaoke). They don't seem to have any seating inside but they do have some tables outside on the sidewalk/road. There were only a couple people ahead of us so we didn't have to wait long and they were relatively quick to place our order/give us our coffees. While the coffee was good, with tip it ended up being over $5 but I guess that's what you have to pay for good coffee in NYC. While I didn't get any food, my friend here who is a regular says that their sandwiches are quite tasty. read more

It's been a while since I've waited a HALF HOUR for food but it was well worth it. They ran out of the famed pig and egg sandwich so I got the chipotle and egg. The sandwich is simple: homemade bread, butter scrambled eggs and chorizo sausage patty. But boy was that sausage spicy. Probably the best chorizo I've had. Will be back for the pig and egg for sure. Some good music spinning, a very good dark hot chocolate, friendly staff, cool place. And more importantly the food is awesome guys! I tried the chicken sandwich and the Cilbir bowl. Cilbir bowl is interestingly mixing Turkish yogurt and poshed eggs. I'm so sad I can't give a good review. The staff were fantastic!! They were so patient with all the customers and even made friendly conversation with me as I waited for my sandwich. I loved the vibe of the store, and it's nice that they have seating outside. Unfortunately... when I got my sandwich, it was so undercooked that the egg was still clear. Cute, small little breakfast place that has the most delicious beef merquez. We ordered some breakfast sandwiches - egg, cheese & sausage. The sausage is a beef merquez that has similar traits to chorizo, with a fabulous spicy flavor. If you don't like spice then you won't enjoy this breakfast sandwich. It's also a large breakfast sandwich, I was full after eating half of it, so keep that in mind in case you might want to split one with someone. It's right across the street from Tompkin Square Park, so eat your breakfast there, take it to go, or go picnic in the park across the street. Either way I'm a fan and will be back. One of the best coffees I've had in NYC, but definitely on the pricier end (~$5). I ordered an Iced Latte and really enjoyed it. Cons: Egg and Cheese sandwich was just ok...a bit too salty. I think Sunny and Annie Deli and Tompkins Square Bagels, both within 5min walking distance, do a better job of Egg and Cheese sandwiches. I may have just tried the wrong item on the menu though. Wait times are also a bit long, have to wait around 10-15min to get any food you've ordered at peak times. However, coffee comes out pretty quickly. read more

I go out of my way to try to get breakfast here whenever I can (which is not often enough!) After a friend who lives in the East Village told me about this place, I knew I had to try it. My first experience was with the Pig & Egg sandwich and it was the best Egg sandwich i've ever had. Since then I have been craving their eggs - they do something special with them. Literally the best tasting eggs I've ever had. I've since had the Chicken and Egg bowl and the Chorizo and Egg sandwich - you CAN NOT GO WRONG with any of these dishes. I tried the chorizo and egg sandwich here and it just was not worth the price. The brioche bun was tasty and the eggs were fluffy and moist, but the chorizo was too lean, which threw the whole sandwich off. The spot is small and kind of charming. I have been here twice now and the chorizo sandwich is really really good. The only complaint is that the man they have working the register is really awkward and seems like he doesn't know what he is doing. Also shoutout to Will, the manager--dude is awesome.
