This is our first time coming here at CJs. The wait wasn't too bad but we now understand why there is a wait for good food. The staff is very friendly and the place has a lot of history in it. There were a lot of choices on the menu and it was not badly priced. The experience was a good one and we would definitely eat here again to try out the breakfast and the dinner menu. read more

Wow. Just wow. This place is wonderful! If I could give it a 6-star rating, I would. The service is incredible. Our waitress was Julie, she was so kind and considerate. She is one of the best waitresses we've ever had! Our food was ready in under ten minutes after we ordered. The food was delicious, my daughter was begging to bring the rest of her pancake home. The best part, though, was you got to watch the planes land and take off, which was super entertaining for the whole family! Overall, it was a great experience. Cute little restaurant in the local Vero Beach airport. It's really cool to see the propeller planes take off and land as you eat. The food is a solid OK. You're not really there for gourmet cuisine. That said, my salad was pretty good. I had the spinach salad (no goat cheese and plus avocado) with balsamic. Solid, no complaints. The salad portion was good, loved the variety of fruits and red onion. Even the bacon flavor profile came through nicely. It was really really good. Except that requesting avocado was a mistake. They were frozen previously so the texture was somehow slimy and hard. That was my bad. I should have known better. Everything else my colleagues ordered seemed like standard bar lunch food - burger, club sandwich...nothing to write home about. In short, keep you order to something simple and you'll be satisfied. read more

THE PRIME RIB!!! Solet me say the server was excellent. She was very friendly and attentive. Let me go food wise from worst to first. I ordered the French onion soup. Seriously don't waste 6 for cup or 8 for bowl. A lazy chef apparently thought a non traditional French onion soup that tasted like salty dish water was appetizing. Never ever give someone a French onion soup with no cheese or croutons. Next I had escargot with portabella mushrooms over garlic bread. A 5 of 10 on this. It was covered in greasy garlic butter and so much it covered the bottom of the bowl. The taste was okay. Not a great app though. So you may wonder why the 4 stars....THE PRIME RIB that's why! It was 34.95 for a 16 oz prime rib plus horseradish sauce and two sides. This place has A lot of sides to choose from. They have a great menu. The prime rib was some of the best I have ever had. I want to try their breakfast. Overall a very good place with an extensive menu. You will need to bring some bucks with you but the last dish saved this meal.? read more

Another 5 star from me. This restaurant serves the Vero Beach airport. You can watch planes landing and taking off. People in small planes even fly in and walk right into the restaurant for dinner. Has a long local history and plenty of memorabilia to prove it. They have plenty of variety on the menu but we always get the prime rib. Always great and comes with dessert. They also have a bar area and I will warn you, it can get loud in the place when really busy. Prices are in line with local competition, maybe a little lower. I like to watch the planes come in and google the tail number to find out what kind it is, where it flies and where it just came from. If your flying out from the airport you can always check the bar to make sure your pilot isnt having one for the sky, or buy him a drink and get an upgrade on the flight. read more

C J Cannons- Vero Beach- At regional airport 1 Star (for service, 0 Star for food) "Rebellions of the belly are the worst." -- Sir Francis Bacon My life seems to be at the extremes as of late. My trusty BBDO random generator has been either sending me up North to the Titusville area or down South to Vero Beach with no stops in between. If you are a loyal reader (thank you if you are, what's wrong with you if you're not?) you will know that while Titusville is picking up the pace a bit when it comes to good places to eat, Vero Beach is turning into a veritable haute cuisine hot spot. This time, CJ Cannons in Vero Beach popped up and so I boarded the BBDO mobile, pointed her south and let it rip. I knew I was getting closer as airplanes seemed to be bombarding me from everywhere and I knew CJ's overlooked the Vero Beach Airport. With ample parking, I soon found an open spot, parked the Beast and headed inside. I was immediately taken aback by the interior of CJ Cannons. Once seated and handed a menu, I became to scan the selections while waiting for my server. I didn't have long to read the menu when my server, Jennifer, pounced on me to see if I was ready to order. She was attentive, professional, on the ball and not only the saving grace of my meal but the sole reason for the 1 Star rating, otherwise, it would have been a 0 (but I get ahead of myself). She walked me through their very large, diverse menu with ease and grace. I at once got the feeling that this place was a throwback to a bygone era when servers actually took time to chit chat a bit with each customer as they went over the menu with them. Asking Jennifer if the burger and slaw were made in house, and being assured that they were, I went ahead and placed my order for a Cobb Salad and a Bacon Cheeseburger (medium rare) with a side of the aforementioned "made in house" Coleslaw. I was really getting into the old-time aviation stuff when I saw Jennifer approaching with my order. As you can clearly see by the pictures, the Cobb Salad was a sad representative of the salad family as the greens were extremely wilted and the avocado was overly ripe two days before it ended up on my salad. The chicken was over grilled and so dry my tongue thought we were in the Sahara. The bacon crumbles were actually real bacon, though a tad overcooked. As for the advertised Gorgonzola cheese, if you move the picture around a bit, you can see a crumble and between me and you, there wasn't that much more to be found under the dry bed of chicken. The dressing on the side was your average industrialized high fructose corn syrup artificially flavored crap just like mom made (note sarcasm). I have had many, many bacon cheeseburgers in my lifetime, just ask my cardiologist, he can attest to the fact that as of the last visit I had chunks of bacon floating in my blood As a born and raised Southerner I have had vast vats worth of coleslaw. In other words, I know these food items extremely well. I can say, without a shadow of a doubt that not only was the ground beef used in this excuse for a burger I was served low grade, but it was by no means hand formed. I have met maybe two people in my life that can make a perfectly round, symmetrical, even thickness all around hamburger patty by hand, and I assure you, neither of them is employed in this pitiful excuse for a diner. Not only was I lied to about it being formed in the back, but it was by no stretch of the imagination cooked to a medium rare unless by rare the cook thought I meant well. And the "homemade" coleslaw? Not a chance was this made fresh in the back. I mean, just look at the picture. It was not completely crisp and generally flavorless. With uniform cuts in the veggies, I stand by my assumption that I was lied to and this was not made on site. Oh, someone might have ripped open a bag of pre-cut and pre-shredded veggies and tossed it all in a bowl with some prepared slaw sauce out of a can, but that hardly constitutes being made fresh in the kitchen! Look. I get it. Maybe my reputation is preceding me too much and Jennifer was afraid to tell me the stuff was from a distributor, but really. Why lie? Like no one can tell the difference between fresh and canned/jarred/frozen? Noticing the crowd gathering for their meals, I couldn't for the life of me figure out why. Unless it was all about the views of the planes landing and taking off. I know a lot of people get into plane watching and this is a beautiful place in which to do just that but talk about the wheels falling off the bus. Holy smokes this was terrible. The Big Boy says, "There are a ton of better restaurants close by, so unless you are looking for a place just to watch the comings and goings of aircraft, I would suggest one of those, over the rubbage being slung here any day of the week." #bigboydiningout #iamthebigboy read more

Cannon's has more than a few things you'll enjoy. Great sandwiches, salads and entrees d in no lunch and dinner. You'll like breakfast, too. We've even had gatherings for our family and work team in their larger, private rooms. The food and service always exceeds expectations. read more

I have been a customer of C J Cannon's for the last couple of years but I will never go back. This morning my wife and I went for a late breakfast and were told the wait would be about 20 minutes. 30 minutes later a couple comes in that was not waiting and the hostess let them right in. I complained to the hostess at that point and was promptly seated after that. I asked to speak to the owner, but I was later told the owner was too busy. The waitress was pleasant and the food was pretty good, but I will never return after the way I was just bypassed like that. I will make the drive from Vero to Fort Pierce and go to the Sunrise City Café from now on. Much better food and service. read more

I LOVE this place! It's not for everyone, but it brings me back to my childhood. Not much has changed inside these walls, though the airport facilities surrounding it have seen upgrades. We went for my mom's birthday breakfast this past weekend, as is our new tradition. I love bringing our son here too. He's 18 months old at the time of this review, and he is absolutely fascinated and in love with airplanes. We got to the restaurant around 8:30 a.m. and the place was already hopping with activity. Disclaimer: This is primarily an establishment for elderly folks on an early Sunday morning. In fact, most of the time I go, it's predominately 55+ crowd. That's fine. I love it. And they all ADORE our son and his babbling nonsense. How's the food? Pretty standard. We only ever go for dinner. Diner food. I had eggs and corned beef hash. My mom had a big bowl/casserole thing that looked insane but good. My vegan wife had hash browns :( never many options for her. And we gave our son a scrambled egg, which he devoured. The service was good. The waiter seemed gruff, but I think it's because he is mission-oriented and had a crap-ton of diners to handle. He was not rude in the slightest, just all-business. Once things calmed down towards the end of our time there, he warmed up a bit and was really friendly. The food came out about 3 minutes after we ordered it. Blew me away! Even the server was astonished. It was piping hot and delicious! It isn't expensive either. Our total bill was around $30. After we ate, we went outside to a little community area behind the restaurant, near the flight line of the airport so my son could watch all of the planes taxi out and take off. He was in awe and so excited! It was a cool, windy day. Perfect to watch the different sized planes do their thing. This is our new tradition. And I can't WAIT to take him back! read more

Had a lovely meal with my family last week, and the service was exceptional. We popped in on the later end for dinner, and everything was delicious. They were quick with the drinks, the apps and the kids meal, which was much appreciated. Everything was delicious, and we had a lovely time. The physical space itself is very cool being right in the airport but is a little tired, it is very much a traditional FL vibe. This is one of those places that is really off the beaten path, hard to find, but worth the effort.  It is located in the Vero Executive Airport, quite close to the runway.  This is a really small airport, with not a lot of air traffic, but an international flight training school that probably creates a lot of their customers.   A friend recommended this restaurant as a great place for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  We searched it out for lunch and what a great lunch it was.  I chose the Fried Breaded Grouper Fingers which came with Hush Puppies and Coal Slaw and was a real plate full of goodness.  My luncheon partner selected the Grilled Mahi Sandwich, served on a Toasted Kaiser Roll.  The fish was tender and moist and was grilled perfectly.  It also was served with their delicious Cold Slaw.  She raved about her sandwich.   If you are ever in this part of Florida, search out this great restaurant.  You'll be glad you did.  Food is very good, servings are plentiful, service is great. read more

What a cool spot! A friend took me here for breakfast while I was in town. At first I was a little confused when he pulled into the parking lot of the Vero Beach Airport. I enjoyed looking at the planes outside and then realized there was a restaurant there as well. Neat! He explained a bit of the history of the building as we were on our way in. We had a great view of the runway and were able to watch planes taking off and landing all during our meal. They had a great selection on their menu and I loved the breakfast casserole and biscuits that I ordered. I'm quite certain it wasn't even remotely good for me, but it tasted so good that I totally forgot. The service was great and the prices were cheap. You got a lot of bang for your buck.
