Ok this spot was just what we needed after driving through the town of Bar Harbor that was too congested for us during this time of Covid. Lobster rolls were larger and tastier, lobster meat plump and fresh! Better than what we had over in Lubec this past week. The clam chowder was fresh and creamy but not too thick made with potato and corn. Quiet and quaint spot where we sat outside at the picnic area, perfect 70ish weather to enjoy our late lunch! Highly recommend especially if your passing through and want to avoid crowds! read more

I would give this place 10/5 stars if I could! Definitely recommend going here if you want a fresh, locally supported meal. I had the crab roll, corn on the cob, and a bowl of the clam chowder soup. Everything was flavorful and the best I've had for my duration in Maine. My friend got the Lobster roll and the whoopie pie and had nothing but great things to say. Plan ahead....arrived at 6 pm and waited in line for about 40 minutes. Food only took about 5 minutes to come out though! You can't miss this one!! read more

But again, lobster rolls is a MUST! I don't usually eat lobster, but when I'm in Maine, I need to eat lobster. Lobster isn't something I order on a regular basis - in fact, I think I've only had it a few times in my life. In general, I don't go out of my way to eat any seafood. But that doesn't mean I don't like it. On my latest trip to Bar Harbor, I knew I needed to try some lobster, and C-Ray's praises were sung by my other family members, so my girlfriend and I came right here. We sat out at one of the picnic tables and split just one lobster roll because we weren't too hungry, but we were both impressed. I can't really say what makes lobster good, and as you can tell by my review I'm no lobster expert. All I know is that I enjoyed it. The bread was toasted just right and the generous portion of lobster was flavorful without being overwhelming. One thing that I did like about C-Ray's lobster roll was that it wasn't loaded with mayonnaise like many others are. It felt like the lobster was the focus, as it should be. Do recommend! read more

I live in New Jersey and bought some live lobsters home yesterday. The manager of the store was super nice and friendly. He helped me pack the lobster very well with ice bags on top. After spending the day at Acadia we yelped a lobster shack for a quicker and more casual dinner than sitting down in Bar Harbor. Reviews were correct; this was a great place to stop! We ordered two lobster dinners, a lobster roll and a crab roll. Service was quick and friendly. The lobster dinners were great. The rolls we liked better than other places because the rolls themselves were panini pressed and were also lighter on butter. The lobster roll had plentiful lobster and the crab roll was fantastic. Other useful tidbits about C-Ray: ~The building is behind someone's house and has all outdoor seating... picnic tables with umbrellas and an area of covered picnic tables. ~If you order lobster and would like to do so, you can choose which lobster will be on your plate in just a few minutes. ~The restroom is a port-a-john. ~They have a convenient outdoor hand washing sink attached to their building. We will definitely be back here on our next trip to Acadia National Park! read more

C-Ray's is the perfect lobster shack. Friendly staff, great meal deals, and delicious lobster! My family stopped by here for dinner on our way home after a day in Acadia. I shared the Dinner for 2 which includes 2 Lobsters (1-1/4 softshell), 2lbs mussels, and 2 corn on the cob for $35. Only thing we missed was the blueberry pie which was already sold out at 7:30pm. First the dinner special, is around $35 for [2] 1 1/14 lobster, 2 lb of mussels and 2 corn on cob. If you want a bigger lobster, you can get [2] 1 1/2 lobster, 2 lb of mussels and 2 corn on cob for $40. In addition, you can substitute the mussels with Little Neck Clams or Steamers for $10 extra. We upgraded our lobster and the mussel. The seafood food here is exemption fresh. I also ordered 1 lb of streamers. They don't give you a bowl of broth for the steamers because they told me their steamers has been purged for couple of days and there should be no sand in them. I confirm that's it's true. This is the first place I've been too that didn't give me a cup of broth to dip the streamer with. They did an excellent job purging sand out. The Little Neck Clams were big and juicy. The corn is very sweet too. Overall, price is decent, food is fresh and the staff is extremely nice. This is the place where I learned about hard shell & soft shell lobster. I never knew there was a difference. The staff are definitely knowledgeable about the seafood they selling. I also brought 4 lobsters back. They have cooler for sale for bringing home fresh seafood but it's was a bit out of our budget so we went to the closet Walmart which was not too far. I will definitely return!. read more

Best place to get a fresh lobster dinner & lobster rolls. We ate at multiple restaurants in Bar Harbor downtown and decided to make the short drive out here. Well worth it! We felt unwelcomed here by the frowning lady at the register. Don't let her deter you from this amazing food joint! Our food was brought to us by a very friendly man that I would argue is the complete opposite of the front register lady. The lobster roll was huge relative to lobster rolls I've had for the same price in the area. The brioche was toasted to perfection and had a satisfying crunch. I was so excited to make this our last stop out of MDI. As we were visiting Maine for the first time (but not eating lobster for the first time) I really wanted to devour a whole lobster! Second place we ate at in Maine and definitely the best. Had the crab roll and it was delicious. The meal comes with Cape Cod chips and a pickle. The food isn't cheap but it is worth the splurge. This is the best lobster roll on MDI, possibly in Maine. (I ate at Red's two weeks earlier in mid-Coast). I had the good fortune to rent a house nearby C-Ray's last year, and the owner who lived on island for years recommended them. We returned this year and stayed near Southwest Harbor, and came up to C-Ray's twice. Fantastic, juicy fresh lobster and the small-hatch grill marks on the bun is exceptional. The clam chowder is also outstanding. My sister loved the homemade blueberry pie and ice cream and the Whoopi pie was very fresh. The chairs around the fire pit are great, as well as the picnic tables with umbrellas and the covered outdoor seating with heaters if the weather is rainy. read more

Hit up three lobster joints with the same basic business models in the area. This one was definitely our favorite! First, the staff... extremely friendly and patient which makes the atmosphere cool. I saw the dude at the counter explain (somewhat painstakingly) the intricacies of ordering/eating lobster and lobster dishes to a family that were newbs. The dude had the patience of a saint. Also, we rolled into this place after a very long drive and they owners saw we had a dog that was friendly and the same size as theirs. They offered to let him run in the fenced in yard (with their dog) adjacent to the place while we ate! Very considerate. Second, the food! The lobsters, corn and mussels were awesome. The blueberry pie was the best I've ever had! They don't use the jello based filler. It's real, fresh blueberries in a legit (not to sweet) filling and a perfectly executed butter crust! Third, BYOB. Save a few bucks and bring your favorite Maine craft brew to enjoy outside on a Maine summer Day. Maine Brewing company -Dinner perhaps or the new guy IPA from the Atlantic were our preferred bevies. On a recent Coastal Maine Lobster Exploraganza, C-Ray's came out the absolute winner. In 3 days we ate the equivalent of a dozen lobsters, so there was some serious competition for this title of Absolutely Most Amazing Lobster Roll Ever. Fresh, right balance of briny/savory and lobster/mayo, just a hint of chive, perfectly toasted bun, Cape Cod potato chips, pickle. All things that are good. Two out of two lobster roll aficionados voted it the best lobster roll of their trip that there was only the two of them on. So clearly that's saying something. It's a roadside lobster shack in someone's literal backyard. You're not there for ambiance, don't complain about the porta-potty and picnic tables. They told us their secret - cook the lobster in sea water. Probably strain it first or something. read more

Excellent!! I have been to other lobster places around Bar Harbor and this was by far THE BEST!!!! Very affordable, 2 lobsters, mussels, and 2 ears of corn with drawn butter on the side for under $40! You can't beat that!!! We walked right up and were promptly served.
