Mark on the other hand called and asked about the problem and over 2-3 chats provided guidance on how to trouble shoot it and asked to send photos so he could validate that he can fix the problem before even coming. The food in upper refrigerator section felt room-temperature while the food in the bottom freezer was still frozen with a bit of frost forming just inside the drawer seal. Realizing we were outside regular office hours (~7 PM), we emailed/contacted four 24/7 appliance repair service providers. The first to respond could not schedule us until Wednesday; the 2nd service provider to respond, ABC Appliance Service, offered a repair date set for the next day. We asked them to contact us in the morning and a repair-person was scheduled sometime between noon-3 PM. At 12:20 PM, Bill showed up and after looking at our refrigerator, he diagnosed an inoperative "control panel." He explained why it wasn't a temperature-sensor issue (our thought) and why it wasn't a compressor problem (thank goodness!). Bill replaced the control panel and set the (default) numbers and told us that after 20 minutes, the refrigerator should finish up a defrost cycle and start becoming cooler. ABC Appliance Service response was immediate. We agreed on a reasonable appointment time and their service repair-person showed up, diagnosed, performed the repair and was on his way within a total of 40 minutes. We were very happy with their service.

So basically I was already on the hook for the diagnostic and I could either have that deducted from the $270 or pay them the diagnostic and go hire someone else again to diagnose and fix the issue. In my case there was some excess lint in the machine that fit on a paper towel.. it took less than 10 minutes. So I spent $270 to have some lint removed which felt like a rip off but I thought oh well at least it's fixed. Then they said only cash or check, I wanted to use a card so annoying but whatever, I wrote them a check and about a month later they said it didn't go through, I reached out to my bank, no reason it wouldn't go through, but now I have a bill and an extra $35 returned check fee. On top of all this they called me excessively asking for me to post a review, I would assume most reviews are due to that not because people are blown away by the service and feel compelled to share but more so because they don't leave you alone about it.
