Went on a Saturday during lunch hour. Vibe was nice and chill. Seated immediately next to a lit fireplace which was nice! Within seconds was greeted with service, had water and a bowl of delicious warm chips and the house salsa they have which is alittle one the spicy side, which was really good! The server came in no time, super nice and professional! Ordered the Guacamole Dip which was really flavorful!! As for my main course that came out within 5 minutes or so of ordering was super good, the chicken wasn't dry at all or burnt. It sat on a bed of cooked onions and peppers which were also a great addition to the flavor of the chicken when making the fajita wraps. The sides that come with it were good as well!! I did ask for some hot sauce and the server could only bring me their house made habanero sauce which was fine, it had a kick to it but the flavor was so good especially with the fajitas!! Very disappointed! I can't speak to the overall quality of food, as my review is solely based on a few beers, some chips and salsa, and a rude waiter. My friends and I dropped by here after the dinner rush around 9pm. We told the hostess (believe to be the owner) that we wanted to seat at the bar but given that there wasn't any seats left that we prefer to seat as close to the bar, as we were there to have beers and possibly a bite. She was very professional and sat us quickly by the bar. Very happy to have us and instructed the waiter to serve us. Approximately 10 minutes went by, the hostess saw us seating there with no drink and looking around for a server so she quickly caught the attention of the waiter she previously instructed to serve us and told him to quickly attend to us as she said "those boys are very thirsty" (in Spanish). The waiter seemed upset to have to come over, he slowly walked over to us and seemed very disinterested in what we wanted. We all ordered, another 5 minutes rolled by and the hostess instructed another waitress to provide us with chips and salsa. The salsa was alright, one of them seemed to have more water than salsa. We left that alone and ate from the one that tasted more like salsa. The waiter finally brought our beers over. We contemplated ordering food but felt like if we had such a hard time with getting a beer that it wouldn't be worth wild ordering food. The waiter came by two more times to ask if we were ready to order food and we told him no, simply drinks, in which he let out this big sigh of air as if he was disappointed. He quickly walked away. He came back 15 minutes later for second round, I specifically said no, yet when he brought the second round, he brought me one out. Quickly after serving us, my friend asked for each of our checks, in which he seemed more upset as if he wanted one whole check. I didn't fight on the second beer simply because I said 'oh well, it's here I'll drink it and let's get to another bar.' He brought out our checks, quickly walked away. We sat around for five minutes waiting for him to grab out credit cards, in which another server had come by and picked it up after seeing us seat there waiting to finish our transaction. After 10 minutes, the original server finally came back with our credit cards, we signed and walked out. Over all the ambience was good, they were playing some great Spanish music--a mix of salsa, bachata, etc. everyone else seemed to be having a great time. They also have a nice little outdoor area. My low review is mostly based on the service I received. I was in town on business and eating dinner by myself. I went about 7:30 on a Thursday night. The restaurant was only about 1/3 full. I had to stand and wait to be seated for a few minutes because the owner(?) was too busy sitting at the bar on his phone. Anyways, I got seated at a table in one section that had one other table of 5. Someone did bring me water, and chips and salsa. It took many minutes more for a server to ever come to my table. When she did, I asked for more water, a beer, hot sauce and placed my order. I specified I would like my salad first, and then my entree. She never came back to bring my water, beer, or hot sauce. I finally asked another server for more water. Eventually someone brought my beer from the bar. When my food came, she brought my entree and salad together. She asked if that was ok, and I said it was not since I had specified I wanted my salad first. She took my entree back and put it u see the warmer. I had to ask again for the hot sauce I had never received. Once we got through all of this, she was a little more attentive and the service from them on was fine. The food was good, but not phenomenal. It was fairly traditional fare for the Mexican style of restaurant. Incredible is a small word to describe this place!! from beginning to end, a true 5 star experience! my fiancé and I arrived before opening time and the manager greeted us at the door and seated us right away although we were early. From the person that brought the water, the one the brought the food and our amazing server, everyone smiled and made this experience a memorable one. Not every place needs to be Michelin-star quality. When I am in a new place and need gluten-free lunch options, Mexican-ish is my go to. Cacique fits the bill. The food is about what you would expect, and that's perfectly ok. I left feeling full and not ripped off, with the added bonus of wonderful street-side entertainment thanks to downtown Fredrick. No literally, I am sitting in the parking lane on the street-- hooray Covid times. They do offer much more authentic looking Spanish cuisine, but gotta be honest I was in the mood for some tacos. There are a lot of Mexican places in Frederick, and, over the years, this has been the one that I go to when I want to feel a little more like Mexican fine dining. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is very welcoming, and the location is perfect. Were told the menu was wrong, given a melted knife, and overcharged. Very rude waiter. My husband ordered a root beer with our lunch. When the waiter brought a can of A&W my husband asked if it was refillable. The waiter told him no, only fountain drinks were refillable. We showed him the menu that states "soft drinks" are free refills (it lists root beer as a soft drink option). The waiter told us it was incorrect. My husband states he would not have ordered Root Beer if he had known it was not a free refill. The waiter did not apologize, did not offer any compromise... simply walked away. With our meal my husband was given a serrated knife for his steak that had a melted handle. He asked for a knife with an intact handle, the waiter said "all the knives are like that" and again walked away. At the end of the meal after all had been cleared away, the waiter brought the bill and asked my husband if he would like another root beer "he cleared it with the manager." My husband declined, as we were late to an appointment. He would have liked one halfway through the 50 minute meal. The waiter passed the check and our card off to another waiter to ring up, and return to the table. Wish we had that waiter the entire time. Upon returning home and looking at the receipt, we noticed we were charged $1.00 more for the soda than the price listed on the menu. My husband will not return to this restaurant. I rarely go to Frederick, but once there, I remember my brother had mention this place, so I decided to call ahead and make reservations, knowing that it was Saturday and that it could be busy. we let them know that we have a service dog for which we have license the lady who answer the phone was nice and pleasant and told us it was not a problem My first impression was, dirty, busy, ordinary, we gave our name and a guy who appear to be the owner or manager, greed us with an attitude, we informed him we had reservations, but he was very rude. He asked us to seat down and wait, which we did. He continues to be friendly and seating down people without reservations. After 5 minutes, I got up and asked him if our table was ready, he was even more rude and proceed to seat us in the bar area, the floors were so sticky, the server came over and said something that no one in my group was able to understand. we looked at menu and the service and the dirty and sticky floors and waited for the server to comeback for about 7 minutes and he didn't we got up and left, the reason I am giving then one star is because thanks to their rudeness I was force to go to SABOR DE CUBA, which was, delicious, friendly, clean read more

I think all of their foot is good. I've never met anybody who has had any complaints about the food or the service. Except some people I don't go to restaurants with anymore. The chips were very thin, crispy and fresh and the salsa was average (not spicy at all). We ordered combination fajitas for two. We have been a patron of Cacique for years. I always looked forward to dining out every couple of weeks because of the fact that we would be going to Cacique. But the last few visits have been horrible. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and were sorely disappointed with the meal and experience. We had a poor experience, not a bad one, about a month ago in which the service was slow, the meal was lukewarm at best, and there were a number of flies around our table (?). But we thought it was just a bad day, and so we decided to come back to our favorite restaurant and try it again. Unfortunately, the experience was not any better. Again, there were a number of flies around our table that would not go away. We were sitting in the middle section of the restaurant near the window. But we had the same problem when we sat in the bar area near the window as well. I'm not sure why the flies are such a problem here (?). The waiter didn't seem to really care whether we were taken care of or not. He was slow and inattentive. At any rate, we ordered and the food took nearly 30 minutes (or more) until it finally came out. And then my meal was lukewarm, at best, but bland. We tried to salvage the meal by ordering dessert. I loved their fried ice cream, so I ordered it but was more than disappointed when it came out. The ice cream was almost all but melted, with some chocolate thrown in, and the tortilla was stale and tasted not much better than a piece of cardboard with ice cream on it. Very disappointing from some of that great fried ice cream we used to get here. What happened? The worst part about all of this is that I wrote two emails to the management, about two weeks apart, detailing our issues, and I never even received a response. To say that we were disappointed is an understatement, especially given the fact that we have loved to dine at Cacique for the experience as much as the meal. But sadly, the quality has been consistently going downhill over the past year. We are taking our business elsewhere. read more

First off... Get the server who looks like a clone of Arya Stark because she is just phenomenal (hint hint... we had a vegetarian in the crew and with 9 people, and she was still a champ). Everything from the chips (yes you can really judge a Mexican place by the quality of the chips) to the sangarita to the salsa was just simply spectacular. Yummy food and great service! I am glad we chose to visit this restaurant. They did not disappoint at all. We tried Lomo saltado and marisco saltado. Both dishes were so full of flavor that we devoured it and left us so full. I am so glad we did not get an appetizer because we would not have been able to finish. We paired our lovely meal with a half pitcher margarita with 1800 tequila. So good! We loved that the manager checked on our table as it gave such a personal touch. We were offered a small glass of watermelon margarita to sample at the end. We didn't have room for desert but the looks from the tables around us the dessert options looked great. I was hoping this would be more than a 3, but yelp is rarely wrong. The inside is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside, you can tell it's a bit dated but not too bad. The menu had a mix of different cuisines and not just Mexican as I originally thought. The salsa they bring out to the table tastes fine but it's a bit runny for my taste but the chips where dripping, and I mean dripping, with oil...it was nauseating and I didn't have more than 1. We got the tostones as an appetizer - they were over fried and pretty hard and they were topped with cheese which did absolutely nothing for the dish. Eh, it is what it is, really. They have outdoor seating but unless you get there really early (I'm talking EARLY!) or really late, don't plan on sitting outside. I've been there a few times now and the wait to sit outside was pretty impossible. The decor is really nice. They have very white fabric tablecloths and napkins which I always feel bad because I always make a mess with the yummy free chips and salsa. (The chips are light and fresh) and I swear more salsa ends up on the tablecloth than in my tummy! :) They have a wide selection of menu items for both Spanish and Mexican meals. Each time I've been here it's very average... not bad, but not to die for. It's worth returning however because the service is good and overall it's a good place for dinner. Oh, and I strongly suggest getting a margarita... at least the one time I got one, they make em STRONG there. We got half a pitcher, and I thought I was gonna have to be carried out of there. Can't miss. We've been coming here for years. This is our go to Restaurant in Frederick. We don't get out often with 3 kids, so it's key to find a good meal. We love the atmosphere with the decor, fireplaces, and medium lighting. Starters - Chips are thin and the Salsa is great. Not too mild, or too spicey. Entree - the Salmon stuffed with crabmeat is perfect every time and the Spanish Trio (Steak, grilled Shrimp, and Scallops) was awesome. Ask for the Habanero sauce - it's homemade, extremely tasty, and spicy. We Love this place !!! read more
