I was going to try the vegetable burrito just to find out it came with corn , carrots , peas something along those lines which have no place in a burrito literally sinning. Medford does not have the best options in terms of food. I was lucky enough to come across Cactus Cafe in what seemed like my tenth search and I decided to go with it. The restaurant itself is situated in a strip mall amongst a Chinese restaurant and a bagel shop as well as a convenient store. When you walk in you realize there are less than 15 seats, but it is not too cramped. There are chalkboard menus over the register as well as next to the soda machine. Also, next to the soda machine you will find paper menus. I would order off the chalkboard since there are more options available than listed on the menu. I went with a chicken burrito, since the lunch specials only apply Monday through Friday. The burrito was $8.50+tax and came with no sides. It seemed like it was mostly shredded chicken and rice and not much of the additional ingredients listed on the menu. It was smaller than a Chipotle burrito too, hence my overall 4 star instead of a perfect 5. Cactus Cafe also has some Yellow Pepper Sauce made in-house, which wasn't spicy, but gave the food a tangy kick. The service was exceptional though, which is why the main reason I would return. Came in through a recommendation. Got the chicken burrito. It's huge! It was good for the price. I would go back to try other things if I'm in the area. It seems to be a popular spot for locals. As far as Tex-Mex and/or taco places are concerned, this place is one of the best. The food is fresh, well made, and tasty. I haven't had any issues with waiting for food. I've called my order in several times and they told me ten minutes. I went in 12 minutes and the food was waiting for me when I got there. The restaurant is nice and clean. Food: So far, I've had the nachos, smoked wings, chicken burrito, smoked pork burrito, and chicken soft tacos. Obviously not all at once! The smoked wings are some of the best wings I've ever eaten, and I'm a big "wing guy." I ordered them BBQ, and they're great. Good sauce and perfectly smoked. The tacos are served on corn tortillas which in my opinion are far better than flour tortillas. The rotisserie chicken is good. The burritos are a good size and a good price. The only criticism I have with the burritos is the rice. The rice does not have much flavor, and in the burrito, the rice is predominant. They could throw some spices in there. The nachos were very good. They use a "spicy cheese sauce" on top of blue and white homemade tortillas chips. The "spicy cheese sauce" is excellent. I wouldn't order the nachos to go though. The cheese sauce makes the chips soggy after about 15-20 minutes. I would order them when dining in, or if you don't mind the sogginess you can take them to go. Overall, nachos are very good. Overall, this restaurant is a great place to get a tasty, affordable Tex-Mex meal. I will certainly be going back when in the area and would recommend everyone who is a fan of Tex-Mex give it a try. Food is pretty good here. I thought it would be an actual Mexican restaurant but it's in a strip mall which is kind of weird. And it's also Tex mex which I'm Not a big fan of regardless. One of the best burritos I ever had was the smoked pork burrito here at the Cactus Cafe. The tacos and guacamole are on point as well, the nacho chips and pico are a meal on its own. My family would rather go here then the local Taco Bell. If you go I recommend the burritos any of them will fill you for the day, nice atmosphere to eat in and the staff is friendly and courteous. This has been a place I have frequented with my boyfriend since moving to the area. It's close, cheap and convenient. Pretty alright food for pretty alright prices. However, my most recent trip will be my last due to the absolutely horrible customer service. Upon walking up to the counter, the two men ignored us and started making snarky comments. When they finally decided that it was an alright time to do their job, they made an inappropriate comment about my weight. I'm 5'6 and 115 pounds. An employee working in the food service industry should never make any sort of comment regarding anything about anyone's physical appearance. This behavior was entirely inappropriate. When we received our food, they forgot the chicken. This is not the first time they forgot an aspect of our order. The overall disgusting attitude of the staff continued when their conversation went towards talking about losing their virginity. Absolutely abhorrent for somewhere that claims to be family friendly. read more

I give them 5 stars for a few reasons, Number one, the BEST chips in the world, $5 burritos after 10?! YES PLEASE! Honestly quality food, and great service... Always go out of the way to make sure my order is correct... Try the queso, its so good, I always eat it after the gym, its worth it! The first time I went there I ordered the veggie burrito and I thought it was incredibly bland and overpriced for what I got. I ordered guacamole in my burrito and maybe got a teaspoon if I'm lucky. I decided to go there again to give it another shot and I ordered a bean burrito. I went there ten minutes later when they said it would be ready and the cook hadn't even made my food yet. I guess I should have watched closer as he was making it because I ended up with chicken in my burrito. I'm a strict vegetarian and even told them that on the phone so I think that's really uncalled for. After all that we go back to get the bean burrito I ordered and the staff was completely useless. I ended up getting a bean burrito that was incredibly bland and consisted of only white rice and a few tablespoons of beans for 7.50$. On the plus side of things the guacamole is good. read more

Went into this establishment today and was met with the most unprofessional dead stare as the girl at the counter stood with phone to her ear and hardly acknowledged me, then finally after 5 minutes standing there with no greeting another employee walks up to take my order and seemed to be a bit snappy but I ignored it because I was only there to place an order and leave with my food. Then I noticed she rolled her eyes as she turned away after placing my order over a brief discussion about pico de gallo. They clearly don't know the difference between pico and salsa as they gave me an extremely wet sauce with chunky canned tomatoes and claimed this was their version of pico. It's a shame too because the food is actually decent but I'd rather find another mediocre spot with less attitude from the staff. Spend your money where you are respected. read more

This is my favorite Mexican place by far. Their prices are pretty consistent with most other places around. Their burritos are delicious, huge, and have all high quality ingredients. So much better than Chipotle or other chain places. The ambiance is cute too but normally we just take out. Food normally takes about 10 minutes to be ready and they're always friendly and willing to accommodate your personal requests. You seriously won't be disappointed if you try this place. read more
