Really creative decor, really nice staff, and great food! I've only been here one time before, but I forgot to post my review about it. They have a really extensive menu with many options. We ordered the arroz con pollo, the half ribs (it came with 3 sides, we choose the refried beans fries, and jalapeno cornbread), and the veggie burrito. We also got the homemade lemonade as well. They have these cute tables with checker boards painted in the middle with with game pieces available at the counter to borrow to place checkers or chess. They also painted the interior decorated with flowers and windows that make you feel like you're in South America! Cactus Cafe is not a full service restaurant, but the cashier or someone else will bring you the food you ordered to your table. Our food was prepared fairly fast with generous portions. The arroz con pollo kind of reminded me of paella. The rice was moist mixed with chicken and veggies. It also came with their homeade yellow pepper sauce (don't mistaken it for queso). The ribs were what we expected, it was interesting how they just put the ribs on a bed of fries though, it made them soggy. I wish I could give them 4.5 stars, because the only drawback was that the refried beans were really watery and bland. The cornbread though was really good, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. The vegetable burrito was good too for what it's worth, I suggest adding various hot sauces they have available. I've tried Cactus Cafe numerous times just to give them a fair shot. Unfortunately, the time has come and the location requires a review. I'd like to start by calling to place an order ahead of time.... I don't think the employees have ever once remembered that they placed me on hold. 11 minutes on hold, I have to hang up. This location has recently gotten rid of their hot sauce selection & no longer carries the bottles of cholula sauce that they used to. If you order a lunch special with a side salad, expect nothing less than shredded lettuce, they don't even supply actual salad size lettuce anymore. And if you order a refried bean burrito, prepare for bean soup wrapped up in a wrap. It's not actual solid refried beans. It's unfortunate because the location used to be pretty good and has vastly gone downhill. Save yourself the time, and get a burrito elsewhere. read more

I'm not too sure why the queso recipe has been changed. Every time I'd order from Cactus-Cafe, the queso was a must-have. My last ordering experience wasn't one of the greatest. I walked into the restaurant, picked up my online order then started to head home. As I sat down to enjoy a wonderful crispy chicken burrito along with my chips and queso, I was pleasantly surprised to see the queso had a new consistency. I took a wonderfully salted tortilla chip and went in for the dip into the queso. The queso practically slipped off the chip. Weird... I went in for the kill on the chip and my taste buds were taken on a different course than expected. The queso was ruined and so was my day. One of the first reviews I've ever felt the need to go and update because of such drastic changes. As unfortunate as it is I really feel the two stars is more deserving than the original review. I have been here 4-5 times in the last few months and each time has been nothing more than "eh". The quesadillas we got last week were actually laughable. Literally a pinch of cheese and a teaspoon worth of protein on both. I've seen kids quesadillas more filling than these. The burritos I've gotten have all been 80% rice, 20% good stuff. On top of the food quality's downward spiral the prices have gone up by almost $3 on burritos. The prices do not match what's posted online when you go to the store, tonight the staff was as friendly as Ebenezer Scrooge around Christmas time dropping more F bombs than I could count. Just completely unprofessional. ON TOP of all that...my fiancé was lucky enough to pull a hair out of her cold quesadilla. And I was graced with (what I think) was a sharp bristle off a brush or some sort of stripped pipe cleaner in my burrito. Quality way down, prices up....and I'm out. I'd ordered from this place once before back in January and thought it was nothing special but decided to give them another shot. I ordered a salad through DoorDash and immediately called the store to make a change to the salad. The young lady who answered the phone, assured me they would take care of it. The salad arrived at my house completely wrong when I called for help, the girl told me to complain to DoorDash and just re-order the salad and we will take care of it on our end I ordered the salad for a second time and it came incorrect again. I called the store. The young lady was not helpful at all. She put me on hold for over seven minutes they picked up for a few seconds. What can I say other than OUTSTANDING food, my favourite being the Jack fruit but I love everything else too. The service is first class, we have our laughs with them whilst queuing which is cute but they work so fast and so hard. Cant fault anything and pls pls pls keep it up x read more

So mad I didn't take any picture but everything was sooo good! The staff is fantastic. So helpful. They get everything right even with large orders. The street corn salad is Soo good! I love the steak taco extra chipotle sauce. Their yellow and green sauces are yummy! My kids love the tacos and the grilled chicken nachos. It's a marinated diced chicken and it's Soo good. Very cute little tex mex place. They have awesome burritos, my favorite being the beef one of course, though I've tried the fish and shrimp which were just okay. Their house salad is awesome but only if you get it with chicken. I tried a shrimp one and it was underwhelming! They used cheap low quality baby shrimp which is a no go for me. A chicken quesadilla, a pea soup with bacon & a soda came to $9.50 - which I consider a pretty nice deal; especially considering the portions. I threw in some chips - cuz YOLO; I love great house-made tortilla chips. The chips were good of course - but they were completely unsalted which was kind of strange. This is a solid 3 1/2 star place - as I've had some things over the years that have been pretty good, and others that fell short. Service here isn't the best, but the decor is nice and it seems to be pretty quick if you call your order in ahead of time.
