Visiting Riverside from Honolulu, I met up with 4 CA friends and we were seated and served promptly. 3!of us ordered salads and the other 2 ordered taquitos and enchiladas. Apparently they are known for excellent baked potatoes so 3 ordered that on the side. My Steak Salad was excellent, done med-rare as I ordered and seasoned well. Had a luncheon here after my MIL's funeral service @ RNC. Out server was Kristi & she was amazing. We had 20 people for our lunch & all were taken care with the utmost care & respect. Never had to ask for a drink refill, nor any side items. Restaurant, handled our allergy people with care & food was very fresh & tasty. I would recommend this restaurant to all that are in the area. Went to Cactus Cantina for Celebration of Life after a memorial at the National Cemetery. I had spoken with Gloria a few weeks in advance to arrange things. She was so helpful. We had use of the banquet room. The variety of food was appealing to everyone and orders ranged from Mexican to burgers to salads. Staff was welcoming and observant. I've been coming here for twenty years. I was close with the family who owned it originally and it used to be fantastic across the board. Unfortunately, over this last year the quality of the food, drinks and service have all gone down hill. This is surprising considering the prices have all gone way up. Our last 3 visits have all been disappointing. Flavorless food, bad drinks and rude service. Today was strike 3 and we won't be returning. First time here. We came on June 30 at about 4:45. The hostess and waitress were wonderful. Super patient, quick and helpful. I ordered a wet chile verde burrito no rice. It was good. My biggest complaint is I don't understand why there were so many beans in the burrito and you get beans and rice on the side. I would've rather had just the burrito swimming in the verde sauce. I'm going to side with the people who advise that you avoid the Mexican food, including the margaritas. I ordered a Cadillac Margie, which is supposed to be a better quality drink. This one is made with cheap tequila and that weird yellow-green mixer that's always terrible. No hint of Grand Marnier or other orange liquor. The fish tacos are nice and plump with ingredients, but still tasteless. Maybe because their "secret sauce", thankfully served on the side, is too icky to use. It's like thousand island dressing with extra vinegar. I'm giving two stars for the sweet old guy who was my waiter. I think he went off to take a nap after a while, but he was awesome while he was here. I came here because people I know who live in the area told me it was great. I may come back one day for a burger or club sandwich, but no mas Mexican food. read more

My wife and I love this place. We come here every week, sometimes twice, and I look forward to it. I tell my wife "oh dang, it's Cactus Cantina night!" Haha! The food is solid and affordably priced. The service can be hit or miss, but when it's a hit, it's a home run. Ask for Jacob or Precious. They are great servers and very friendly. They also have sports on the TVs and are happy to put a specific game on for you, if it's available. Overall, a solid local place, and if they can get the occasional service issue worked out, would easily be a 5 star for us. read more
