Nice local flavor! The crowd waiting outside let me know this was the place to be. It was Sunday brunch so be prepared to wait for a seat. The bar is FCFS so we quickly grabbed two seats. I had the Cuban (double shot). It was quite tasty! Husband and I both had Pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs with cheese. He also had a side of grits. Let's just say there were no leftovers! Great location for hearty, unique takes on breakfast. The Bacon Waffle was my favorite, and came with bacon mixed in plus more bacon liberally sprinkled on top. The Chicken -N- Waffles included a large deep-fried breast on top of a generous waffle. The Vegan Waffle was delicious and filling. The coffee drinks range from your basic signature drip coffee to expresso creations as well as Cappuccino varites like the impressive Viennese. Service was very good. Our only hiccup was a run on lox that caused many of us to have to change our selections because they ran out. Oh well, this means I will need to make another visit! read more

Covid updated review: I have always loved Cafe Eclectic since I discovered it 8 years ago. Not only does it have the best coffee in Memphis, in my humble opinion, but the pastries are some of the best, too. My particular favorite is the blueberry muffin; moist, but not the gummy moist. Beyond the coffee and pastries is a really good menu. From the locally fresh burgers to the chicken diablo, I have not eaten anything I didn't like. I tell everybody that CE is my office, whether it was the Highland location (now closed), the McLean location, or Harbortown, I love to stop by, have my dark mocha, eat, and work a bit. It's the most comfortable, welcoming place in Memphis. COVID UPDATE: As all restaurant goers, I was ready to get back out there once things started opening up again...with caution. One of my first stops was Cafe Eclectic. I was immediately impressed at the detail the staff took to insure my safety. They remodeled when closed, they distanced the tables, not just to distance, but to make it esthetically appealing, AND to make it environmentally safe. And while visiting, I noticed as patrons left, the staff went into cleaning action. They not only cleaned the tables and chairs with disinfectant, once finished, they sprayed the area with a mist of disinfectant. I was sold, I declare it the safest place to eat in these Covid days. read more

I went in with high expectations, but sadly, Cafe Eclectic did not live up to them. I think the biggest problem with the whole experience was our server - we'll call her "B". She was hard to find, rarely checked back, and seemed to be surly. Even another table who had her as a server looked over at us and said "the service is usually much better". That being said - the coffee was my favorite part - I had their specialty drink "The Karamel Sutra" with soy, vanilla, espresso, and caramel, and it was as good as candy (my highest praise). And so pretty to look at! For my meal I had bagels & lox - I love that they make their own bagels, however, they were a bit dense. Also disappointing was that the toasted bagel was not the least bit warm. I understand they were waiting for the chicken to cook in my companion's chicken & waffles, but that should be the kitchen's clue not to toast the bagel first thing! I also had to ask for more tomatoes - the ones that came out on the plate were so little. Everything was very flavorful, though, and I loved the marinated onions that were part of the bagel plate. The biggest disappointment was the side of hash browns, which came out cold. Sent them back, and they came out warm, but unfortunately, with not much flavor. A table nearby told us they were not up to par that day, either. I think they must have been having a bad day, but I would only be back for the coffee. read more

Talk about a lot of vegan options. I really appreciate the verity of vegan food. The food was good and really fulfilling. The ice coffee was good. The Cinnful hot coffee definitely had some good cinnamon flavor but was not as tasty as I had hoped. read more

Well aware that this is one of the "IT" places to go in Memphis, I stand by my opinion that this is one of the "Most Overrated" places to go in Memphis. I just don't get the craze, I really don't. While there isn't anything that is overwhelmingly bad about Cafe Eclectic, nothing comes close to being great, or overwhelmingly great at that. Subpar is perhaps the best way for me to describe it. Nonetheless, I have a few friends who love to come here when we catch up so I oblige their preference, and each time, I come in with a renewed hope that something will catch me off guard. Several attempts at chicken and waffles, wraps, sandwiches, and random specials later, I haven't found that something yet. A while back, they took the one good thing they had - their macaroni and cheese bowl - off the menu?! Why, I have no idea, but do everyone a favor (or at least me) and bring it back. That's at least worth another star... The place is always packed though, which often makes it extremely loud too, so that must say something, even if I don't get quite why. So more power to them. If I could rate 3.5 stars I would. We were seated within 5 minutes of arriving but it took 40 minutes for us to receive 2 lattes and over an hour to receive 3 egg based breakfast dishes. The food was good (although only warm when received) and the place was cute but wow what slow service. Ultimately the food was not worth 2 hours of dining on a Sunday morning. read more

This place is atrocious. I'm leaving this review so people from out of town do not have to experience what my friends and I did this morning. It was busy, usually a good sign for Sunday brunch. We decided to do carry out. I ordered an Americano while we waited for food. Our ticket said 9:33am was when our order was placed and I didn't get my Americano until 9:55. Insane wait for hot water and espresso. Onto the food. The tater hash is soggy with an overwhelming taste of olive oil. The bagel (supposedly housemade) was dry and came without cream cheese. Another order, the panini with chicken and pineapple, surprisingly came without pineapple. Thus, my hungry friend choked down bread with a slab of chicken inside. I ordered the Avalon, regrettably. The most egregious error of this miserable morning, perhaps, was the creative addition of egg shells to my scramble. While there are ways to add texture to a dish, this one seems to be a health risk. To top it off, quite literally, the menu item says that the Avalon comes with white cheddar, but the cheese that smothered all of my scramble was in fact orange. I cannot believe how many mistakes this place made. I'm pleading that you don't make the same mistake we did and think that you might stand a chance at some decent breakfast food. We visited on a weekday and were happy with the breakfast selections. The food was a little overpriced for the size of the portions, but delicious. We ordered the waffold and stuffed French toast. The drink we ordered was the Carmel Sutra, which was very tasty. We visited while on vacation, so we didn't mind paying more than we had wanted to, but would consider trying a different place that next time we visit. The bathrooms also felt like gas station bathrooms which was not great. read more

Cafe Eclectic is one of my favorite places. Their vegan pancakes are delicious. In fact, my friends often say that they are better than regular pancakes. They serve illy coffee, which I love. They are environmentally friendly. During the pandemic they have been using bamboo utensils rather than plastic. That means a lot to me. Very friendly staff. After putting my name on the waitlist online, got to the hostess to hear their system is down, so not on the waitlist. Got on the waitlist, seated 15 minutes later, got coffee and put in our order. Annndddddd....wait...for 45 minutes to get 2 orders. We were apologized to for the long wait, and $$ waived. But one dish was warm, not hot. Eggs were wet, cold, and watery. In need of salt. The waiter was evasive but apologetic about the delay. He said we were preaching to the choir!? Never sure what that means. Most likely he forgot to put in our order. The Cafe Au Lait is not made with French Roast and Chicory, so why call it that..., and the Eggs Benedict served on a biscuit, not a muffin. Overall, not impressed. read more

I enjoy trade electric. Quick with service even on a crowded Saturday morning. I've been here during their slow hours and busy. Service is always on point and friendly. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They have a small patio up front of you enjoy the heat... there are umbrellas but still too hot for me personally. It's a nice cafe with a lovely vibe. Breakfast is good( especially the omelette) and they got great pastries as well.

To begin, I picked this Restaurant after seeing they offered vegan food options. My son is allergic to most of the major allergens, so I felt he would be able to have a good breakfast here. We arrived at this location for breakfast around 10:21 a.m., and were told it was 30 min wait. During that time, we informed the hostess that we wanted outside seating due to my year old son having allergies. At 11:00 a.m, we were told we were next on the list. At 11:25 a.m. they had an inside table ready for us. The entire time outside is pretty much empty. Apparently the hostess didn't process outside eating, despite being told twice about my son's allergies. The manager came and spoke, acknowledged the miscommunication. However, now at 11:49 a.m. my son has his food....but I am atill waiting on my food. Hence this review. Parking: Free, but challenging. Wait time: Horrible. See above review. Customer Service: Average to low. 11:55 a.m. - My food finally arrives. When it finally arrived she tried to give it to another table. It's okay. We came here on labor day. We looked for several places to eat and they were all closed. We called Cafe Eclectic and they were open. There was alot of ppl waiting but then again it was a holiday weekend and everyone and their mamas were out to brunch. A 20 min wait was really a 40 min wait but we enjoyed the nice weather outside so we didn't mind. We started with drinks: London Fog, Sinful Jim and Fresh squeezed OJ. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and we were very anxious for each of our entrees to come. There were 3 of us, i had The kitchen sink which was a 3 egg omelet with pork sausage, ham, bacon, tomato, fresh spinach, red onion, mushrooms, bell peppers, jalapeños and white & yellow cheddar. It was that perfectly made omelet that was hearty and yummy for your first meal of the day. We thoroughly enjoyed it. My friend who had stole my first choice went with the Sunny Tater Hash which consisted of Fried russet & sweet potato hash with bell pepper & onions, topped with bacon, jalapeños, white cheddar & a sunny side up egg. This was good but a bit heavy since it was fried. We were all mehh about it. My 3rd friend opted to go with a wrap, Rachel's breakfast wrap that is. It was stuffed with Scrambled eggs, bell peppers, caramelized onions, avocado, tomato, bacon & white cheddar in a warm tortilla. I thought this was better than my omelet. It was so delicious that i'm thinking about ordering this next time for myself. A nice wholesome breakfast burrito with eggs, bacon and avocado. What more could you ask for? We all thought this place was a great brunch spot. Indoor and outdoor seatings are available. They have a full lunch and dinner menu as well. I love this place. However, I was heart broken when they got rid of the zesty black bean hummus. That was all time favorite appetizer.

The main restroom at the 603 N McClean Blvd. location is just disgustingly filthy. Being basically unisex requires more frequent cleaning. The floors, walls, toilet, mirror, door, baseboards and sink were in need of cleaning. Sometimes the paper towels and soap need resupply. The staff seems to ignore the situation which leads me to question their hygiene and food preparation. I will no longer patronize this restaurant. read more

Cafe Eclectic has been a lifesaver during quarantine/COVID times as I get it to go/delivered on an almost weekly basis and the food is always warm, tasty and packaged nicely each time. Coffee is fresh and the Ubereats delivery is fast! I'm a sucker for their fancy coffees that are reasonably priced and so well crafted! I've been a few times over the last couple of months and sitting outside or socially distanced inside was still an enjoyable experience. They are super flexible with making adjustments to a dish and always hospitable. One of my favorite, midtown local spots! And recently, they added some new winter items to the menu which do not disappoint. (highly recommend the Quiche!) read more

It is located in the heart of midtown near the Memphis Zoo (directly across from Snowden Elementary/Middle School) My favorite thing on the menu is the Black Bean Wrap. I hate to give the place 3 out of 5 stars but The wait was just ridiculous. We had a group of 6 and we arrived at 9:55am. We were forwarded it was a 40 minute wait which we agreed to wait. It took closer to an hour but we expected it. Once we were seated, we had to wait another 45 min to get our food and that was just unacceptable. We paid before our food arrived to cut back on some of the wait time and we could just leave once we finished eating. The food was good. I ordered the chicken and waffle. The chicken was hot and fresh. The waffle was good as well. Our server had a great attitude and had pretty good service, but he did not check on us much once we had our food. I was not able to get a refill on my water until AFTER I had finished eating. Overall, I would come back and hopefully I could give a full 5 stars. read more

There is a main reason why this is a 3 star rating and it is almost exclusively because of our service. Our family arrived and we're initially greeted, served beverages, and placed our order relatively quickly. After that however, we waited for a substantial period of time before our server checked back in with us. Our drinks had been emptied (coffee, root beer & water) for a while. Another server at one point came to refill the waters. The food was generally really good, but my wife had only one egg on her hash while other patrons having the same dish had two. We ordered a bagel, cream cheese, lox- and a side of hash potatoes and bacon. Well, the bagel was ok. The potatoes were shoestring and completely burned. The tomatoes and onions looked like they'd been cut three days before, and the cream cheese had a crust on it. I did speak up and they brought us new cream cheese and tomatoes and onions, but they were just as soggy and bad and before.( they did discount the bagel, but not the other stuff) To add insult to injury, the bacon was both overdone and oily. I tried to eat local as much as possible, especially since Covid. First let me say I have always been a regular here almost every other weekend we would dining here for brunch before the Covid. Today I came in to grab a coffee since I was around the area, I moved away from midtown about a year ago. I order a coffee and ask for extra creamer, I was charged $5.70 so I asked did you charged me for a black coffee with extra cream? He responded with annoyed attitude "yes" I asked why so much, he spin the screen around again very annoyed, my reaction was I am being charged $1.70 for extra cream? He said yes it has always been this way, I asked to take the extra cream off, he said still with cream it will be $1.00? What the heck since when you charge for cream? Now I don't get since when to add cream to a black coffee is $1.00? I told him I didn't appreciate the attitude and his response was so you want it or no!? Okay I did not expect that. My last response was I am sorry but I will not be back anymore you can charge me for it today but I won't be back here. To say the less the establishment is not the same anymore and this shows in the service. I will spend my money somewhere else that appreciate it. read more

Kid friendly, delicious coffee & the best fresh biscuits. We came here two times for breakfast on our trip to Memphis because we had a great experience. The chicken was amazing as well! We came on a Sunday morning right when they opened and by the time we left, there was a full waiting area, so I recommend arriving early on busy days. Super popular breakfast joint. Most famous for their coffee. And I am a coffee lover! Lots of breakfast options on the menu, with a variety of different coffees to chose from. They also serve lunch food too. Food is always yummy. Service is a little slow at this location. I would say from the time you sit to the time you get your food is well over 30 minutes & if we're talking breakfast food, it shouldn't take that long. That's my only complaint. I'm a repeat customer because the atmosphere & location makes up for the wait time. Just plan accordingly. PS. Try the strawberry preserves spread! Life changing. read more

Putted reservation but they said system down, waiting for the food like 1 hour and a half. Food came and already cold. I ordered egg benedict came like this.. it is hard boiled egg not egg benedict. No sauce or anything So disappointed, never gonna come back. Someone responded to our previous review that our meal was comped. That must have been another table because no one comped our meal or even apologized to us for having to wait an hour and a half for breakfast food. This wait time only includes from the time we sat down. The waitress told us that this wait time for food is normal on a sunday. Plan to spend almost two hours here at least. Our food was cold when it arrived at the table which meant it must have been sitting out for a little while. After this wait we also did not receive the hand cut fries we ordered. Lickily we were not charged for those. We didnt even have time to complain on site as we were already running late to take my daughter to AR. read more

My husband and I have come here for years when we travel to Memphis. We were very dissatisfied this time, the service and quality of food is way down. They have new ownership and it lacks in all areas. Our coffee drinks were pricey for the small cup, waitress was too busy in her phone to take our order.
