**This review is based on a Sunday evening to-go order.** While these folks were polite on the phone and in-person -- and the restaurant was bright and clean when I came in to pick up my order -- I cannot recommend this place. First, I ordered the Chinese Fried Chicken (half), which is supposed to be brined in soy and hoisin, then deep fried in a light batter. This chicken was no more brined than a rock in the desert, and it was just as dry, even the dark meat pieces. The steamed rice was fine, as was the beautiful bok choy. The dish, overall was a huge disappointment. The chicken lo mein was also a letdown, as it had an underlying sweetness that I've never experienced with this dish. Two bites were taken and it (along with the chicken) ended up in the hotel trash can. A couple of positives: I enjoyed the hot & sour soup, and the egg rolls tasted as if they were rolled in-house, which is a rarity these days. I live a few hundred miles down the road and don't get to downtown Dallas very often, so the odds of me patronizing this place again is already slim. But, in the event I find myself here in the future, I will avoid this restaurant. read more

And of course they never send too much... they always leave something off. It's impossible to say it is not intentional. I believe they do this on purpose. We ordered Hunan for pick up for a quick late night meal. The food was fresh and good portions; which was a plus. The General Tso was flavorful and just the right amount of crisp. This was honestly the best dish as everything else was just okay. Understanding that sticky ribs are sweet, these were just extremely sweet and not as tender as they could have been. The fried rice left a little to be desired as it was simply white rice with a bit of soy sauce. The crispy beef had a great flavor but wasn't crispy at all as the sauce softened it. I'm not sure the cooks here have ever had Chinese food based on my recent and second (and last ) order. My wonton soup had peas and carrots on it with lots of green herbs, maybe parsley! The broth was overly seasoned. The moo goo gai pan had a heavy brown sauce instead of the traditional white sauce. The happy family had imitation crab or old shrimp throughout - it was unrecognizable except for the overly fishy smell and taste that ruined the whole dish. read more

Completely FALSE ADVERTISING for their food. "Springfield style cashew chicken" is NOT SWEET. It is made with hoisin sauce. Located off Greenville Avenue off the SMU bar drag strip, it is the perfect food to even out all the alcohol consumed by SMU students at the surrounding bars. Their soups could be more flavorful, but everything else on their menu is pretty good. The large pork egg rolls are great. Fried rice and standard Chinese dishes hold up. They also offer a lunch menu - a positive for these economic times, and portions are generous. We live about a mile from the restaurant, so it's become my go to. Blanca says check 'em out. read more

Decent take out food. Made a large order to feed some friends, and some dishes were better than others. Best dishes - Hunan shrimp, combo fried rice, and moo goo gai pan (mainly for the kids). Ok dishes - Mongolian beef, Kung Pao Chicken. The food was a bit oily, and the hunan shrimp had the best seasoning. Extremely disappointing. I went for a house specialty $21. Orange Beef thinking that it would be quality beef. It was sliced extremely thin & was mostly eating fried dough. The meat that was there was so chewy that my jaw got tired. I had hoped that the beef would had been sliced thicker & cooked so that it was tender even if it looked like less presentation wise.There wasn't one recognizable piece of orange peel. I assume the sauce was right out of a jar. My boyfriend got another house specialty- Chow Chow Chicken,, but again it was just average. Note- there wasn't an Asian person in sight behind the counter. This place is attached to the Mockingbird Flats building, near SMU where everything is a bit overpriced. This is probably the most I've had to pay for very basic and non-authentic Chinese entrees. Besides that sometimes I do enjoy Americanized Chinese food and in that category this place doesn't really disappoint. I was shocked that they actually gave me a decent amount of shrimp in my Kung Pao lunch meal. The over-usage of soy sauce and grease is pretty apparent but everything did look fresh and well presented. The decor is nice and clean. I may come back if someone else wants to. read more

Come here when you get the craving for Chinese food. They have a very nice trendy dining area and the service is friendly. The menu has a wide variety of choices ranging from appetizers, soups, noodle dishes and entrees. I ordered the General Chow Chicken Lunch Special and there was plenty of flavor with a hint of spice. I stopped in on a Monday evening and the place was empty. I was a little hesitant but boy was I wrong. The food is good! The "plate" can easily feed two people. It's more like a small platter lol. I really enjoyed the Mongolian beef but they do make it with green onions. I used to it having bell peppers but still very good. If you don't like it spicy be sure to mention that when ordering. My brother in law got the General TSo and it was SPICY! Very good though and the beef broccoli as well. And it turns out they are busy with mostly pick up orders. Well-portioned place near SMU. My partner and I ordered the crab rangoons, fried rice, and dan dan noodles. The first two dishes were good, but I was disappointed the dan dan noodles aren't actually like authentic dan dan noodles - they most resembled pad kee mow.
