Had an amazing belated birthday brunch. My girlfriend and I shared our meals. We started off with the French toast crème brûlée which was thick pieces of bread with the crème brûlée in the center sprinkled with pieces of the crispy crunchy sugary topping. It was fabulous. Then we had the tarta flambé. Puff pasty with crème fraîche, bacon, onion and herbs. It was lite and flavorful. It seemed like they were short staffed as it took a bit for us to get seated despite having a reservation. Our waitress was friendly but not overly invested in our table. The space is deliberately simplistic with yellow walls, small tables and as expected, quaint like a cafe. My guest and I were walkins for an early dinner on a Friday. It seemed to be a little empty but later the room was full with other people bringing plenty of wine (BYOB) and enjoying their meals. We shared a cheese board and it was pretty standard---good! My entree was so amazing! Loved my Beef Bourguignon! Cooked tender and so delicious, it exceeded my expectations for sure. I will most definitely be back. I was really excited to learn a French bistro style restaurant had opened up on this side of the river. Cafe le Jardin is owned or run by the June BYOB people in nearby Collingswood. The restaurant is in a very nice little area of Audubon along Atlantic Avenue. The space is clean and open with some discreet and tasteful French touches. Our server was outstanding and attentive. We we were there for dinner and chose to sit inside as it was a little bit cool. However, the outdoor seating looked really nice. Our party of four ordered two appetizers and four main courses. We particularly like dining with these two friends as we all share each other's dishes so we get to sample a wide variety of the menu! The two appetizers were outstanding. The stuffed pumpkin was very good with great flavors and and also the Coquille St. Jacques. For the entrées, the standouts were the Moule-frites, the beef Bourguignon and the salmon Coulibiac. The sauce, for the muscles was excellent and went well with the frites and the soft bread provided by Cafe le Jardin. For dessert we had a very good and not overly sweet chocolate cake and also crème brûlée. I would definitely come back to this restaurant again and explore a little more of the menu. The croque madame was very disappointing. It was served on cold brioche, not pain perdu as described on the menu. The potatoes were good enough, but not great. For whatever reason, the entire plate seemed cold by the time it got to the table. My friend's omelette looked fantastic. We had pains au chocolate that were lovely and freshly baked. The French press coffee was good. The location is very cute, the parking situation was quite good, but the lack of a sign made it hard to spot while driving. If you're in the neighborhood definitely stop in, but if you're driving it's not worth fighting traffic. read more

Good, casual, inexpensive fare can be had at Café Le Jardin. The location is fantastic with easy parking and great indoor and outdoor seating options. After 2 visits, I give it a solid 4 stars for the overall experience. The menu is nice with many of the French dishes I love to have out or to make at home. Visit One: I ordered a coffee, the breakfast radishes, the savory crepe and a chocolate croissant. They did not have the breakfast radishes so I substituted with the truffle deviled eggs. Good coffee and the food well-made and overall, a solid 3.5. The service by Tori was great. Visit Two: three of us went on a Sunday and again, the food was well-made and a solid 3.5 overall. I asked again for the breakfast radishes and again, they did not have it. At this point, the breakfast radishes should have a disclaimer next to them that says 'if available'. I ordered the salade Lyonnaise and the French onion soup. Both were good - not great. The poached egg was perfect and the potatoes were delicious but the dressing on the salad was not warm when the frisée was tossed with it and instead of true lardons, there was a light sprinkle of bacon bits. It was not terrible by any means but it wasn't great either. The croissant sandwich was deemed delicious as were the potatoes that accompanied it and the third diner had the truffle deviled eggs (delicious) and the croque madame. The croque madame was also deemed 'good, not great'. Service was not as good on the second visit, but it wasn't terrible. The food at Le Jardin is good, not great - but for the price, the ambiance, the location; it certainly is a good café that can only get better as it goes. read more

We had brunch out on the patio. I'm glad we had a reservation because it got busy on a Sunday morning. We started with the cheese plate. It came with 3 different kinds of cheeses, raspberries, some greens, and honey. They only put a small piece of bread but brought more when we asked. The blue cheese was the best. It was good but not sure if it's worth $22. I would've preferred having several other items instead. I had the frog legs. It came with 4. While they were delicious and meaty for frog legs, it didn't come with anything. I added the petite salad. I feel like I was still hungry after $19 worth of food. I would get the frog legs again but as an appetizer. The rest of the table had the ham and cheese croissant, croque madam, and cheese omelet. Also, side of potatoes and chocolate croissant. Absolutely no complaints on the food. Just didn't seem filling enough for our group. But we are big eaters. Being first timers, it would've been helpful to get a coffee/beverage menu. We didn't know all the options they have. It's not included on their menu. I would definitely come back. I want to try breakfast/lunch again but really want to see how dinner is. Sitting outside on the patio was so nice. The service was friendly. It was a little slow getting drinks, etc. but it was busy. And we were in no rush. read more

Overall great outcome! Initially there was a mixup of some sort, waited over an hour for brunch, however chef Rich came out and explained what happened and offered to comp meal and additional meals. Came here on a Saturday night. Our app came out fairly quickly but the rest of our meal took some time to come out. Truffle devil eggs were very good and could taste the truffle. My wife had the scallops and French onion soups scallops were perfectly cooked and the sauce with it was amazing. French onion was huge and very tasty. A bit too salty for my taste (not a huge salt fan) but my wife loved it. I got the beef tartar and the gnocchi. The beef was very good and huge. I would definitely recommend getting it to share. The gnocchi was just okay. As I said earlier I'm not a huge salt person but this actually needed it. The sauce was very bland. All in all we would go back when the menu changes for the season to try some other things. read more

We had delicious meals here which we all liked a lot. I had a sweetbread appetizer which was delicious and I added sautéed spinach. My husband had filet mignon. He liked his dish too. My friend had branzino and she loved it. I tasted this too. It was very good. I can't remember her husband's dish but he too enjoyed his meal. Finding a restaurant that offered sweetbreads was such a treat for me and the reason we chose to go there. French restaurants that offered sweetbreads are non-existent in these days. Richard and Christina Cusack of June BYOB have another restaurant now open in Audubon with Chef Jay Shipp in command. Just finished a great Saturday night dinner here, every course was excellent! French onion soup was to die for, wild boar sausage and lentils - outstanding! Wife had trout almandine, steak frites for me, both so good. We really appreciate that portions were correctly sized...makes for a more comfortable dining experience. Full house when we left at 8:15 so be advised on a Saturday night you will need reservations. Only issue was the noise level greatly increased as the restaurant filled up. That aside, worth the trip for the great food, service and ambiance. Went for a late breakfast. Solid croquet madam. Made well, paired well w the salad. Service was good. Overall solid French style meal.

My wife and were looking forward to the Sunday special offered on the website of either soup or salad, steak with fries and dessert. We were presented a brunch menu. When we asked about the special, we were told they don't have it today. That was our first disappointment. So we ordered a Croque Madame, Beef Bourguignon Omelette, escargot to share, with iced tea and a half bottle of wine. When the food came, there were no escargot and no iced tea brought to us. The croque madame was not worth it. My beef Bourguignon omelette was mediocre. As we were eating, the other server offered specials to another table which we were never told. When the check came, it included the iced tea which we never got. The server apologized and adjusted the bill. read more

What a terrible experience! Slow, slow service- it took 25 minutes to get a French press coffee, never got a spoon to stir the cream! 50 minutes for an eggs Benedict that was cool to the touch! The food was edible. I was really looking forward to eating at a decent French restaurant in Audubon, but it was a total disappointment. So wanted to like this perfectly placed spot. French press coffee was good, cappuccino was exceptional, but orange juice tasted more like a drink than an actual juice. Our croissant came out burnt ( it was graciously removed from our bill, but it would have been nicer to have been offered another). Crème brûlée French toast was the reason that we decided on here---however it was mushy and soggy with an unappealing topping. Quiche Lorraine was very good , small individual tart, but the dressing on the accompanying salad was inedible. The highlight/lowlight that as we were eating, one of the staff was Swiffering around us!!! There is a lot of potential to this restaurant, as the staff seemed invested. The Cafe's ambiance is charming. The highlight of our (4 person) meal were the Croquettes. They were outstanding! However, the rest of the plates were either just OK, or not very good. - deviled eggs: vinegar dominated the flavor. We couldn't taste any truffles. - gnocchi: oddly, there was no flavor here. I thought it was just under-salted, but I'm afraid there wasn't really any flavor that salt would have brought forward. Very disappointing! - rabbit with pasta: the rabbit was cooked well. However, the sauce/gravy was very brothy (not like in one of the pictures someone posted). The pasta wasn't quality bronze-cut, so it didn't bond with the wet sauce. There were mushrooms and carrots, but it just didn't all come together in a cohesive fashion. - beef bourguignon: the beef was to the side of the potatoes, had no sauce/gravy on it. It was also quite fatty. No gravy! That's right, beef bourguignon without gravy. You'll see a picture someone posted of a nice piece of beef on top of potatoes with gravy drizzled over it. That's not what we received. I really wanted to like this place, and want to support French restaurants in the area -- I can't seem to turn a corner without seeing yet another Italian restaurant springing-up. We did see some dishes come out to other tables that looked really nice. Perhaps, we just ordered the wrong dishes, but at these prices, there are better offerings in the area. Edit: I apologize for not having pictures. This was my wife's b-day dinner (with our children), and it wasn't appropriate for me to call-out problems with the dinner via pictures. We went there because her friends recommended it. The next day, her friends surprised her with a brunch at the same restaurant. According to her (I wasn't there) it was just as poor as dinner -- very lackluster. Based on the early reviews, this restaurant was rocking. I believe, they have replaced the original chef with a new person who needs significantly more training in the art of French cuisine. read more

Celebrated Bastille Day with our friends on the patio....Awesome!! We enjoyed every dish - the Scallops St. Jacques stood out as our favorite starter and the Bouillabaisse was the favorite main. And don't miss the frites. Our server Hanna, held her own on a busy night and made the night even better by checking in enough to keep us happy. Very good food. I wanted to give 5 stars BUT interior needs to be tweaked. Lighting was too harsh. Maybe if they had small lamps on each table and then toned down the overhead recessed lights / it would help. I loved the "green wall" but the side where kitchen and coffee bar is should be closed off from the dining room. Great food that deserves a warm French bistro atmosphere. read more

While this place is a cute, cozy spot, lunch/brunch was very disappointing. My quiche was not heated all the way through. Our very accommodating waiter took it back to be heated.
