I come to Café Montrose every single week and it never disappoints. The turkey club is consistently so good, flavorful, and perfectly toasted every time. I always pair it with their caramel iced latte with oat milk, which is honestly one of my favorites here. What really makes this place special, though, is the staff. Everyone is so kind, welcoming, and attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. On top of that, the café is always spotless and has such a comfortable, inviting vibe. I don't know what's really going on here, but I swear this place is charging extra. Just realized the matcha lattes are 5.95, so why did I pay 6.95 for nothing extra. Did you charge me 1.00 for honey???? Like wtf, second time here now, just getting a cake since the matchas aren't that great. Now the cake is horrible. What's with the inconsistency of this place. I don't recommend this place at all. Response to the "Owner" I still don't believe that one bit, but you can say what you'd like. Regardless I don't care, if you are the blonde lady who was sitting at one of the tables with a container of food and laptop I believe, you should really be a little more pleasant to your customers. The attitude and eye roll you have the girl who said the coffee tasted like nothing what was lying. My matchas taste bitter and unpleasant which really should never be a problem if you know how to make matcha lattes. Be nicer, even the responds you gave me was hostile. We've been coming to this place for the past 4 years and truly loved it under the previous owners. Unfortunately, ever since the new ownership took over, the experience has completely changed and the quality it's not the same at alllll The new owner was extremely rude, unprofessional, and clearly lacks customer service skills. Today, on Mother's Day, we ordered avocado toast and quiche with salad. After waiting nearly 40 minutes, our food finally arrived -- and I was honestly shocked by the portion size and the poor quality of the avocado toast (I'll attach the photo). After politely speaking to the waiter and waiting for assistance, no one came back. I eventually had to go inside myself and speak directly to the owner. Instead of resolving the issue properly, she simply said they couldn't remake it and offered "extra avocado" instead. After waiting another 5 minutes, she told me to go sit outside and they would bring it out. They brought very tiny avocado slices. What should have been a beautiful Mother's Day experience was completely ruined. In the end, my husband had to go inside and request a refund. We are beyond disappointed and will never return. Customers deserve kindness, respect, and proper service -- and sadly this place no longer offers any of that. Avoid this place if you value good service and being treated with respect. read more

We tried Cafe Montrose with some fellow breakfast lovers on a Saturday morning. It was a cute little space and most of the tables were full, but we found one in the corner. You go to the counter to order and your food is brought to you when it's ready. I ordered the Greek omelet and my husband ordered the quiche Lorraine slice. There were a lot of delicious looking pastries at nice high prices, so we decided to stay with just our mains. My omelet arrived with some country potatoes and a slice of toast. The quiche was a traditional slice of pie with no sides, so he was a bit hungry but said the flavor was good. Overall, it was a good meal, but not special. Our two breakfast items were $32.54 before tip. Parking is street parking, so there may be a bit of a walk to get to the restaurant read more

Very cute cafe! Looks small but there's a good amount of seating available which was nice. Delicious food! Loved everything we ate. If you like your coffee stronger I would definitely recommend getting the extra shot. The latte I got (vanilla) didn't have a super vanilla-y taste, so it tasted more like milk and coffee. Laid back, clean, great food, and friendly staff. Went on a beautiful Sunday morning and there were plenty of customers but no problem grabbing a table, either inside or outside. I gota Nutella latte and a breakfast burrito. Both were excellent. Breakfast burrito was slightly crispy outside, probably have been pressed while heated. I believe the yellow-hued salsa it came with has nopales in it - it was delicious with the burrito. No olive oil cake today, but I'll be back! read more

We stopped here as we were driving by on the way home because of it's great reviews. We ordered their pancakes, bacon, a burger, chorizo skillet, chicken wrap and a breakfast burrito. Food was okay...the chorizo skillet seemed undercooked a bit. I had to mix it around and let it sit in the hot potatoes for it to "cook" a bit more. The burger we ordered was plain and not worth ordering ever again. The bacon was almost too crispy where it seemed brittle. The breakfast burrito was great and the best thing we ordered were the pancakes. Not a bad place but expected better food for the amount we paid. read more

I was looking for a cute lunch spot to take my gf to before heading to descanso gardens and passed by this cafe. We decided to try it out after searching their menu online. I ordered a creme brulee french toast and a turkey sandwich. The creme brulee french toast was my favorite of the two. The toasts had a strong egg flavor and went really well with the slightly sweeter creme brulee cream and strawberries. A little bit of powdered sugar on top helped with the sweetness too. I ate most of the turkey sandwich because my gf liked the french toast more. I was expecting the turkey sandwich to be heavy but it felt surprisingly light. It bacon inside wasn't greasy or oily. The addition of red onions and avocado gave both a crunch and a creamy texture to the sandwich. There was a generous amount of turkey meat too. Overall, I was glad I found this place. It was an incredible experience while eating. We sat outside in the shade where there was also a slight breeze in 80 degree F weather. The place is not that big though, but there were spots outside as well. People come and go... so no waiting time so far. But thou getting busy, it was manageable. The food was savory. Cute, small neighborhood cafe just off of the main area of Honolulu Ave, we stumbled in here for their breakfast. No wait for a Saturday morning, and we were able to find an open table easily. You order at the front and they bring it to you. I really liked the wide selection of their menu, makes me want to come back a second time to try more items! We had the Breakfast Bowl and the Breakfast burrito. The bowl was like a salad, which wasn't what I was expecting, but I enjoyed the flavors, and felt healthy eating it lol! We get our dog groomed every 6 weeks near there which is about 30 min from home and we got tired of IHOP. Six weeks ago, we saw Cafe Montrose and decided to stop in. We went again today as we were very pleased with the experience last time. Hubby loves their creme Brulee French toast. Last time I had a veggie breakfast burrito and today, I had a 2 egg breakfast. The coffee is nice and strong, the food is yummy, freshly made and nice portions. We spoke with the owner today, he is super nice. We will be back. More items to try out. read more
