This is a great place that can improvise for diet request such as my dairy free, plant based diet. Staff is friendly and seems to really enjoy customer service. My wife went with some girlfriends to this place, desired for me to go also, and two days later the woman working remembered exactly what she ordered and modified again for me. The only restaurant in Hot Springs that my wife and I consenting go back to. Cafe 1217 never disappoints.

Very unique place! You have a nice variety of mostly healthy foods, ranging from different salads to fish, pork or other meats.

Food: half Asian chicken salad with half Hawaiian chicken salad sandwich on croissant (so good). Next time I'll get a whole sandwich. Also half chicken Caesar salad with half egg salad sandwich (ok but too much mayo). Others ordered tuna avocado salad and chicken cranberry salad. Everyone was happy. Also, they didn't have this on the menu but they made a turkey BLT on toasted sourdough for my kid and she ate it all. Carrot cake was THE BEST I've ever had. I wish I didn't have to share it. So many delicious options it was hard to decide what to eat. Wonderful to have this healthy option in a place where Cool Whip is a food group! Ambiance: casual. Service: order and pay at the counter. Came in town today for some appointments and decided to take my aunt to a new place. Been wanting to try this place for a while now..... SO WORTH IT!! Love it! The people are on top of it and their service is quick and the place is neat and clean. We ordered the Tomato, Brie and cucumber sandwich with apple slaw and the fish taco wrap with chips. DO NOT COME HERE! Visiting my grandmother from out of town. My salad had a live stink bug in it, it was crawling around!Returned the salad and was offered a new one. I declined because I was very put off from eating. They wouldn't not refund my meal. Staff said that it happens, bugs crawl around. Since I declined a new salad they said what do you want me to do? Every salad on the sample plate was delicious - garlic brussel sprouts w caramelized onions, roasted chipotle sweet potatoes, marinated beets & oranges, apple bleu cheese & greens w house vinaigrette. The Reuben sandwich & grilled ham and Brie sandwich were excellent as were the house sides - house made kettle chips, and the apple/carrot/raisin slaw.. We couldn't stop there - finished with toasted coconut caramel pie. Service was excellent - offering options and suggestions. Two of us ordered the delicious fish tacos... very good. My daughter daughter order and loved the Southwestern Cobb salad and my mother loved the simple but delicious grilled cheese sandwich. You can order from the menu displayed on the wall or choose from the selections inside the case. Someone takes your order from over the counter and then leads you to the cash register around the side where you pay. Then when your food is ready, they call out your name and you go pick up your food from the counter. I ordered the caribbean jerk shrimp salad with no craisins, but when I got my dish, it was covered in craisins. It's also supposed to come with slivered almonds but there were no almonds anywhere. I also got a side of sweet potato fries. I wish they were hotter and had more taste. They were a bit dry. If it wasn't for the sauce and the parmesan cheese that came with them, I probably would not have eaten them. read more

Came here for lunch while on vacation. Great customer service. Many healthy options with clean ingredients. Gluten free options (gluten free bread and desserts). I ordered the turkey club on gluten free--great flavor and really fresh. My husband ordered the shaved ribeye tacos (gluten free tortillas). Their chips are homemade--they are fried in a shared fryer so not safe if you have celiac. Flavor was great--we just found pricing to be a little high for the portion of food we received. read more

On this trip I did a salad trio--all three salads were excellent. Incredible place to get something fresh and filling. I'm vacationing in Hot Springs and, after all the fried and heavy food, just wanted a nice salad, and 1217 absolutely delivered. Not only is the service incredibly fast, the salad itself was incredibly high quality. There were no fatty pieces of chicken, no wilted lettuce, and the vegetables--although a bit strange to put on a Caesar where I'm from--absolutely added to both the presentation and the flavor. I would also recommend getting the dressing on the side, if you want a lighter meal. Overall, a quality experience that I wish I had in my hometown. read more

My family and I are visiting from California! We happen to come across this cafe on YELP. Great reviews but the overall experience is something to remember. Especially the food!! So I really like this cafe. The interior is especially cute and energetic. The food is delectable. I had the Cajun shrimp kale caesar salad and the poblano pepper soup. Wonderful. My only complaint is that I told the lady behind the counter I'd never been to the establishment before. She explained the menu but not the rest of the process. Our order came fairly quickly, however, I was disappointed in the outcome. I ordered the Cajun Chicken Salad but asked for 2 scoops of the stuffed chicken salad instead on the greens. I received 1 scoop and found it was very mushy; lacking any texture (my wife had it with fruit plate and she said the same thing). My wife ordered the macadamia nut cookie to go, only to find when she went to eat it that it was almost burnt on the bottom. We had left and driven back to the resort where we were staying so it ended up in the garbage. We liked the concept of the cafe; just not thrilled with our experience. read more
