Ordered via UberEats. The food packaging was good. I ordered Halo-halo, Ube tart, and Chocolate milkshake. They were a tad sweet for me.
After dinner at Manila Sunset, we had to stop by Cafe 86 for Filipino desserts with our guests. We ordered the Upside Down Halo-Halo, Mais Con Yelo, and Ube Truffles, and they definitely hit the spot. I've been to Cafe 86 a few times now, and it never disappoints! I'd like to give a special mention to the Upside Down Halo-Halo, which is loaded with toppings. Just a heads-up though: it's very sweet, so keep that in mind if you're watching your sugar intake. The ambience was really nice too. I loved the artwork on the walls as it added a lot of character to the place. The only downside is the price as it was a bit on the expensive side at around $60 for five people.
First time here and loved the vibe. Not much to look at from the strip mall door but they did a good job of making it comfortable inside, with a few games and soft cushy chairs. The menu was full of all kinds of goodies. I got the matcha Ube latte and it was the perfect blend of sweetness and matcha. Highly recommended if in the area. Staff was very friendly as well.
Huge selection of treats and drinks! Their ube cakes are fantastic (especially the cream cheese frosting). I love the texture of the ube truffles, but could do without the coating. Their Thai Tea Monster is also great. It's not too sweet and the Oreo crumble is a delicious touch. The employees inside are so sweet and helpful. They have an immense amount of patience with my indecisive personality. Parking here can be tough. The lot is big, but there are many other businesses competing.
Who wants UBE?! Get your ube fix here. This place has it all. Ube cheesecake. Ube shakes. Ube ice cream. Ube tres leches (which I have yet to try). They ran out by the time I got there. They even have ube bread pudding! Had the Monster shake, bread pudding, and cheesecake. All of which were just fantastic and OH! How could I forget? The ube pop tart! Flaky, lightly sweetened with that ube drizzle on top. It's the perfect little treat with a cup of coffee, hot or iced. One note on ordering the bread pudding. It comes with the option of the ice cream on the side or on top, warmed or not but it won't let you select more than one option on the kiosk. So if you are taking it to go, just let them know to have the ice cream on the side. I recommend indulging sooner, warm that puppy up and of course, a la mode. A clean, cute little cafe that is worth bringing your laptop or book over to, enjoying a treat and vibing out. 10/10, would recommend.
The drinks were rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced--sweet without being overwhelming. The ube flavors really shine, especially paired with the smooth texture of the drinks and desserts. Everything tasted indulgent but still well-crafted. The dessert was just as good--soft, flavorful, and topped with the perfect crunch for contrast. You can tell Cafe 86 knows exactly what they're doing when it comes to ube. It's a great late-night dessert spot with a relaxed vibe and consistently solid quality. If you're an ube fan (or trying it for the first time), Cafe 86 is a must.
Yummy yummy yummy! If you're as big of a fan of ube as I am, you'll love Cafe 86! The Ube Tres Leches is an ube sponge that is soaked in coconut, evaporated and condensed ube milk and topped with whipped ube halaya and a crunchy layer of cashew meringue. It is nicely dense and tasty with excellent ube flavor balanced by the sweet Tres Leches and nutty cashew . For some reason mine didn't have the coconut flakes, but it's just so good. A real treat to have. The Ube Ice cream is very straightforward and expectedly delicious. It is something that you can easily pair with any of their pastry choices, and I'll be sure to explore more of their menu. Ambience wise, it is a cute little cozy space, and feels especially warm and inviting during the rainy day.

Delicious summer treats--enjoyed their unique style of traditional halo-halo with ube ice cream, leche flan, etc. and refreshing hibiscus drink. Excellent, friendly service from Ino, Bri, and the whole team (they truly deserve a raise!). Great spot to study work with power outlets to charge phone, tables, chairs, and clean environment, with chillaxing music vibe. Unfortunately, the bathroom was out of order, but Ino kindly recommended a nearby alternative (Ubatuba). Thank you so much, God bless!
Came here on a recommendation from a friend. On this day, it was pretty empty; except for a few students on their laptops. The vibe was calm. Good music. There is a martial arts studio next door and class was in session. You can totally hear them. Oddly enough it didn't bother me . I ordered a Halo Halo. It was delicious. I really enjoyed the flan on top the most. But overall I enjoyed it very much. I will definitely order that again. But I am curious about some of the pastries and some of the other drinks. Can't wait to bring my daughter
First time visit to this local spot. Stopped in after dinner with friends. Nice atmosphere, warm wood interior. Low lighting and plenty of tables and chairs for customers. Some couches as well. Filipino baked goods offerings are mostly Ube flavored. Extensive drink menu with Filipino flavor profiles as well. Limited baked goods at this time of night. I purchased the ube truffle and it was delicious. I always like to try Chai from different cafes I visit. Their Chai latte was smooth, earthy, not sweet. I enjoyed it. Perfect place to meet a friend during the day or after dinner for a drink and chat. I would have liked more options for drink sizes. All iced drinks were regular size. Hot beverages were like medium and small drinks only. They have a Cafe 86 rewards program you can easily enroll with your phone number. Will definitely be back and tell my friends about this cafe.
After having lunch at Hanoo Kalbi, my parents, my parents friends and I had to pass by cafe 86 for filipino dessert and drinks, the halo-halo and the dessert were delicious and sweet. The service was amazing and friendly staff with a smile, the ambiance was great and cute cozy space to relax. I love to read a books while I'm having fun with reading it!! We enjoyed it and we will come back next time!!!
If you are a big fan of Ube, you definitely need to check this place out. They offer a variety of ube sweets. I highly recommend it if you are in the valley.

Great customer service and delicious dessert!! Cute and chill vibes here~ Would definitely come here again! The guy at the counter was very observant and waiting for me to figure out what I wanted and only approached at the right time when I have seemed to have made my decision. I didn't feel any pressure to hurry and figure out what I want. I got the Ube Leche Flan Cupcake and Hibiscus Calamansi. Absolutely delicious! I love how the sweetness of the Leche Flan counters the cupcake portion that was not as sweet. It can easily get messy but if you eat slowly with utensils you can avoid that issue. I love how they have cupcake holders that is just the right size and seems secure enough to not fall out too if I were to take it with me as takeout. Price: $-$$, reasonable for the quality Restroom: Yes. Great for: Singles. Small groups of friends, family and couples. Sound Level: Not the quietest but still loud enough for people to come and chill there with friends. Wheel Chair Accessibility: Seems to be accessible, just need some assistance with moving the chairs. Seating: ~26 indoors. Parking: Plaza style. Some parking depending on when you go. read more
When you first enter, you get a warm feeling. There is a southern nostalgia. The interior design makes you feel southern hospitality. The menu is digital, and it's hard to decide because there are so many options. In the end, we decided to go with the ube drinks because they are on the digital screen so much. We had the ube milkshake and ube milk tea. Both tasted good. A little bit too much sugar for my liking. But it's still a delicious beverage. The order was taken promptly. Cashier had extreme patience waiting for us to decide what to order. Drinks came out very promptly. I would recommend Cafe 86 for a date night or hanging out with friends. read more

Cafe 86 has so many unique desserts that you just can't get anywhere else! They are mostly known for their ube desserts such as their ube crinkle, ube cheesecake, and halo halo! I've been to this place a couple of times in the past and I've only really gotten the ube crinkle cookie and the ube cheesecake which was really good! Ube crinkle cookie was soft, moist, and just overall amazing. Cheesecake was probably my favorite out of everything cause of how well they executed the ratio of ube to cheesecake. If you love cheesecake and you love ube, this is definitely a must try! I just had to come back for the halo halo. Halo halo is just a big cup of yumminess. I honestly didn't really know where to start cause of how many toppings it comes with but everything just blends so well together. My favorite was the corn flakes that they put on top to add extra texture to the drink. The ube drink itself was not too sweet either which I liked. Don't forget to check in cause you'll get a free hibiscus tea! Super refreshing and also not too sweet. Every single time I come to northridge, I always want to stop by at cafe 86 cause the amazing desserts, the friendly staff, and the overall welcoming environment. It was my first visit after eating some decent KBBQ across the parking lot. It's a cozy spot with near CSUN. The employees were busy filling orders which gave me time to study the menu. I ended up with a Zebra Latte and a Milo Cupcake. The cupcake was lightly sweetened to let the latte shine with the dark and white chocolate mix...the perfect combo for me. read more

This location feels so cozy, but beware of parking in the lot, there's so many good restaurants in this plaza so parking is crazy, drinks were super good and the leche flan was so yummy. The staff were quick to get the order out and the cafe just kept getting busier and busier! read more
A cute tiny cafe in a busy strip mall. Parking was a bit hard to find ... had to circle the lot a few times. Staff were very friendly and willing to explain the menu & answer any questions. They have an extensive drink menu as well as a small display case full of ube dessert goodies ranging from ube cookies, truffles, tres leche cake, cheesecake, pudding/flan. 1. Ube Latte with a shot of espresso (3.5/5) Very good ube flavor with a kick of espresso. It could have been better blended as it was slightly powdery (likely from Ube powder?) 2. Ube Cheesecake (4/5) Very thick and heavy. However, the flavor was great - strong ube and cheesecake taste. The base part of the cake could use improvement as it was too flaky and crumbled too easily. It broke apart from the top part (cheesecake portion), which made eating it together quite difficult. 3, Ube Tres Leche Cake (2.5-3/5) The cake part was too dry and lacked flavor. The ube cream on top was heavy (likely made of heavy cream) and too sweet. read more

The service here is really great and the ambiance is nice as well! When it gets busy it gets a bit crowded inside, but the drinks and food are really good. The iced latte was just alright. However, I've also tried the strawberry calamansi tea (which was super good and refreshing) and the matcha latte. Whoever made my matcha latte that day was cooking it up in there!! It was strong and actually one of the better matchas I've had, and I will definitely be ordering it again. The ube leche flan cupcake is super moist and sweet and the turkey pesto sandwich is also yum as well. Would definitely recommend! read more

Came in on a Saturday evening. Upon entry I noticed it was more calm than usual as it's usually pretty busy here. Plenty of seats, clean cafe, and staff was friendly. Home of my favorite halo halo! So glad they have a mini size now, though I'd still demolish the bigger size, lol. Also can never come here without getting their ube crack cheesecake! A must try. Perfect spot if you're craving ube or need to satisfy your sweet tooth! read more

The upside down halo halo was amazing. I also ordered a corn cake (not sure the name) and it was okay. I ordered on the kiosk so I didn't really talk to the cashier but my order came out pretty swift and it was delicious. The cafe inside looks cool. Will come again! read more

Halo Halo Bread Pudding instantly brightens up my day when I eat it. It is buttery, it is coconutty, it is sweet. It has no shortage of ube in this dessert. The service was quick and the desserts were excellent. I always come back and get this, ube butter bar, and ube crack cheesecake. I'm addicted and they can take all of my money. The business is cute with inside seating. Plenty of parking if it isn't a weekend! read more

I originally came here a few months back to get some ube dessert for my boyfriend. I got the ube cheesecake and the ube bars and both were delicious! Today we went to try some of their drinks. I got the hibiscus calamansi and my boyfriend got the ube boba tea. My boyfriend's drink was so incredibly good I almost wish I got one for myself. The hibiscus calamansi was also delicious and perfect for a fruity afternoon drink. The workers are always patient too whenever I visit since they have so many options it takes me a while to decide what I want. There's a nice space to hangout inside as well to hangout and they have a regular's board with photos of them which I think is cute. I will definitely be back! read more
Thai tea - A little watered down, but still decent. Green rose - Green tea with rose syrup. This drink reminds me of a classic jasmine milk tea and is refreshing. The Rosie - House milk tea with rose syrup. This is tasty. You get the milk tea flavor with a subtle rose flavor. This is an amazing cafe!! The milkshake had the perfect consistency and crunchy Oreo crumbs. I absolutely devoured the churrochi...it was crisp on the outside and had a mochi like texture inside topped with ice cream and caramel. Staff was also very considerate! Overall, a great experience! I used to go to the Cafe 86 in Pasadena till it closed down. So sad!! Happy to see that there's one in Northridge not too far from CSUN. Small, cute, and clean little cafe located in a strip mall with plenty of free parking in a shared lot. There were quite a few people here later in the evening. Thank goodness we were able to find a spot to sit close to the front door. We ordered almost everything that had ube in it. We LOVE good ube desserts/drinks. This place did not fail us. Very refreshing place, specially for a hot afternoon, and when your body need something cold, little bit sweet, and so much yummy yummy, and off course something that chills you down, café 86 is one the best place to go. With a check in, you will ge one free iced hibiscus tea, which is amazing. My husband and I ordered truffle cheese cake, halo halo, with check in we got free hibiscus iced tea. Everything was so good and refreshing. We share the halo halo, which I think one large cup is more than enough for two adults, and the rest of the order. Definitely try this place! read more
My wife and I go here for our sweet tooth fix! My go to is always the Ube Shake - I can gulp this down in seconds and by far my most favorite milkshake ever! It has the right consistency, sweetness, and loaded with cookie crumbles - add pudding and you have yourself a winner! My wife always orders the Ube/Flan cupcake. Again, this is amazing and the flan is not overly sweet and balances well with the moist cupcake. I did try the Ube Poptart but this was a huge miss. It just didn't taste right but perhaps I should have ate it right away. read more

The Upside Down Halo-Halo is perfect for the hot California sun! It's refreshing, light and delicious. Although not the traditional Halo-Halo that I grew up with, it's good compromise to suit the more western taste buds. Staff were nice and courteous. The place is clean. The sound system is decent and the music choice was light music which is nice. read more

Cafe 86 has always been a staple in desserts. They are known for their delicious and colorfully enticing foods. The ingredient that is popular is the ube. It is a purple colored yam that has a nice flavor similar to taro fruit. The dessert most enticing is the upside down halo halo for 7$. It is a similarity to halo halo with ice but it has ube as the base. It is amazing, however sweet. The other sweets like the cupcake with flan, muffin and butter bar with ube were highlights. The lows include the coffee which I ordered. It is the same as Starbucks but without the extra sugar. At least it is healthy! The price for the items are all under 10$. The lows are the seats; they were very uncomfortable. The tables were very close to eachother. The service was great and parking outside was generous, however; busy on holidays and weekends. The overall experience was majestic. I really enjoyed the sweets and especially the upside down halo halo drink. Enjoy if you want to give it a try, I did. read more
When I am in the area, I always try to stop by here and get one of their delicious shakes. I got hooked after an Elite Yelp event months ago. Bad for me, good for them:) The staff is always friendly and ready to answer any questions that you may have pertaining to their drink menu. It's very clean inside with plenty of tables to spread out and hang for a bit. However, most customers were ordering to go on this particular day. I ordered my standard Ube Monster Milkshake which never disappoints. It was ready within minutes and I couldn't wait to stick my wide straw in and start slurping. I just picked up these babies and excited to try them. You can't go wrong with the "Ube leche flan" cupcake. It's a combo you won't want to skip. Soft "Ube cupcake and creamy leche flan on top. I also tried the upside down halo-halo. What a find. Will definitely keep in mind for future gatherings and also good a perfect gift for someone that loves "Ube". read more
Great spot for Filipino dessert. Service was friendly and quick. Cafe 86 is in a busy area so parking at times can be a little tough to find a parking spot. Ube is a purple yam that is mellow, sweet in flavor. This is why it is used to make desserts dishes. Ube pronounced "ooh-beh." Ube is one of my favorite desserts. Highly recommend the Ube Crinkle Cookies moist and full of goodness. We also enjoyed the Leche Flan Ube cupcake was super delicious ant not overly sweet. Hibiscus drink was very refreshing. If you check-in with Yelp you can get a free Hibiscus drink. We will definitely come back to try the other Ube desserts. read more
