Worst experience in my life at agora. Waitress had no clue what she was doing. Took 30 minutes to get lunch with no one in there. Never refilled drink. Ordered extra meat yet was still the same told her she still wouldn't take it off. Don't go for lunch better at night with the big boss there. Excellent. Food was great. We took the falafel platter and my husband took beef & lamb sandwich gyro, it is not in the menu but the server was happy to accomodate our request. The salad was tasteful, I ate mine and the one of my husband and I was not particularly hungry. That is how tasteful it was. We ordered pistacchio patlava and it came with a complementara rice pudding. I ordered some italian wine and since I didn't know it, the server make me try it before ordering it. The pita was seasoned well and great with the hummus. The calamari was alright, nothing special. I got the chicken kebabs which were delicious. My favorite spot for Greek/Mediterranean food. Open late on weekends and perfect for a bite after going out. The service is exceptional and the food is awesome too! My favorite is the Mixed Gyro platter (with Ezme, a tomato side dish, instead of the rice). It is like a deconstructed gyro wrap and includes lamb and chicken, a greek side salad, and pita bread. I also love the Turkish hot tea. I've been coming here for years, since before they moved into the new location. It used to be a whole in the wall (literally) but now sits in a beautiful new spot with a cozy outdoor area that is amazing during the summer nights! Other must-try dishes are mixed meze platter, which includes all of the dips and pita bread, and cheese filled phyllo. My wife and I truly love this place. We discovered it over a year ago as we lived across the street, and it's a hidden gem. The quality of the meats are extremely high, hummus/tzaziki are fresh, priced very reasonable given the portions are generous.. but most of all, we've had the same server every time (Nenad) and he is what makes our dining experience truly 10/10 every single time. I really enjoyed my experience with this place. My sister and I were driving through Atlanta and decided to make a day of it. We went here for lunch after I found it on yelp. We got there a bit after 11, probably the first customers of the day. The owner greeted us and after we said it was our first time there and asked some leading questions about Turkish food and Turkey in general, he proceeded to educate us extensively on both subjects. We ended up ordering the mezze platter and a falafel sandwich to go. While we were waiting he gave us a couple free shots of rice pudding which was freaking delicious and brought out a little plate of hummus, tabouli, and ezme for us to try to make sure we liked what we ordered. For some odd reason he insisted on feeding me himself (in a sort of paternal way). To finish our sampling he gave us each a small piece of pistachio baklava that he insisted I eat in one bite. To his disdain, my sister took 3 baby bird bites because she "wanted to taste it more!" The guy was hilarious if a little odd. And now of course the food: the hummus was great, heavy on the garlic and olive oil, the ezme was also very good. The tabouli was pretty much all parsley which I guess could be a Turkish thing; I like a bit more bulgur. The tzatziki was much richer than I like with what tasted like a sour cream base instead of yogurt. The pita was very thick, pocketless and delicious, and finally the falafel was unbelievable. Served in a pita gyro style with a little tzatziki and hummus, it was a nice greenish hue inside and had just the right amount of spiciness for me. read more

I'd been meaning to write this review for a while, but laziness had prevented me from doing so. I dropped into Cafe Agora on July 4th while doing some shopping with the wife. Since July 4th was on a Wednesday this year, it was an in-town day off. We walked in and even though it wasn't that crowded, we decided to sit at the bar. The owner was at the bar and helped us out with the menu and gave us some samples of different things as well. He even introduced us to Efes, a Turkish beer that I had not tried before, but was excellent. He was an excellent ambassador for the restaurant. I ordered the falafel and my wife had the gyro. Both appeared fairly quickly and I have to say that my falafel was the best I've had. Of course, my experience consists only of places in Atlanta so I don't have too many places with which to compare. It was tasty nonetheless. I'd definitely go back. read more

The food here is really good. I have been there at different times, and mostly it has been very satisfying. The service is quick, and the owner is a good guy. However, one problem I feel is that there is no receipt given with all the itemized prices, and it is hard to add up all the prices to the total we are charged. Good value for the price you pay, that is for sure. The food, if the cook is in a good mood, tastes perfect. Almost like you are actually in Turkey. Sometimes however, the meat is a bit dry and salty. It's highly recommended that you ask the server what the freshest item is (from the display in the fridge; see pictures above). Do not just go here to get a tasteless plate of gyro, which I think is an ugly copy of the traditional Iskender plate from Turkey -specific to not only this place, but the US in general, but go and get kofte, or Adana kebap, kusbasi etc. Get the yogurt drink ayran. Ask if they have any salgam. (Though they didn't have any in the past couple times we've been there - maybe they don't serve it anymore). They also have a bar, and serve alcohol. Go and get yourself a drink of Raki and the 'small' appetizer platter. Small is actually really big and good enough for 2-3 people. Aside from all, even though the service is a bit inconsistent depending on the server, they are all very kind and try to be welcoming. They have a parking lot across the street. It's rather hidden, so if you can't find it, go inside and ask for the directions. It's not gonna be an issue when they move to the new location in a couple months, hopefully. My favorite of all is, they are open late on Friday and Saturday, great for a late dinner, or after drinking food around 2 am. read more

I love agora.. A small joint with amazing food that is open late at night. Its a perfect place to go for food if ur partying late in that area. I don't know how they make their lamb so thin and so tasty..my standard is the lamb and beef plater... I rather replace all the beef with lamb. The old guy behind the counter was so sweet...he kept us providing sides... After food try the baklava . I am a big fan. In a months time they will be moving to a new couple of yards away... We were not sure what to order at first and sp our waitress brought us a sampler appetizer to help with our decision for free! We had our rehearsal dinner here and we frequent this restaurant because it's an amazing place! The first time I came here, the owner came over to make sure I tried a certain combination of foods together and he literally fed me!! It was such a moment. For our rehearsal dinner, we reserved the back room. The service was unbelieveable. They went above and beyond to make us feel like family. They brought in a new TV and hooked it up so we could play a short video for our guests. That is all without mentioning that the food is outrageously delicious!!! So much flavor. I always get the falafel because I'm a vegetarian and it's great but my husband has tried many of their other dishes and only has wonderful things to say about them! We were seated immediately and the wait sraff was friendly , prompt amd attentive.service was timely unlike other reviews on Yelp. We had the chicken orzo and the lentil soup and both tasted very fresh and delicious. We split a dinner entreee of adana kebab which came with rice and a salad. A heads up that dinner portions are substantial! We didnt have room for dessert but the complimentary rice pudding with cinnamon was a pleasant surprise. Will definitely visit again! read more

Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the culture. My only complaint is that the food was slightly overcooked and dry. I'm assuming it was just an off night for them. Our family has been a fan of Cafe Agora for years. Flavorful, tender meats to die for. Wonderful hummus and pita bread that is always fresh and delicious. It is (or can be if you order right) a healthy, delicious option. They are NOW OPEN in their new location just 2 doors down. They have a very pleasant atmosphere, ample seating space, outside patios beautiful decor and bar. My only complaint is some staff can be on grumpy side... . But I will not let that detract from my 5 star rating. read more
