Just had the strangest experience ever. I placed an order through Yelp/ grubhub for delivery. The driver took the food and didn't deliver it. I contacted grubhub for a refund and I placed my order again. A new driver went to pick up the 2nd order, and the manager refused to make the food. He accused me of stealing and said that grubhub is shady, etc. I tried reasoning with him and told him that grubhub ensured the restaurant would still get paid on the first order since they made the food, but he refused to listen. I've been dining here for years, but never again. What a stupid reason to lose a customer. read more

My main interest in coming here was as an homage to Mauro Vincenti's Rex, formerly in the Oviatt Building. Amici chef Enrico Trova worked at Rex. Like another Rex offspring, the now defunct Alto Palato, the focus is on trattoria style Italian food. As part of the Beverly Terrace Hotel (but looks like a motel), the dining area is to the right of the main entrance. Amici is not the most comfortable or stylish restaurant as other reviews suggest. They serve reliable dishes that never completely delight, but never totally disappoint. The prices might a bit steep for what you get, but this is Beverly Hills and the food is consistent. As of this review, Yelp indicates an $11-$30 per person cost. I don't see how that's possible with $15 to $26 entrees. Our total cost was $61 per person. To start, we had an heirloom tomato soup special which was more like a pureed vegetable soup. Regardless, it still had good, clean flavor. Like all the dishes, it showed proper technique - particularly with sauces and purees. The grilled asparagus and oyster mushroom salad was the best dish of the night where the Italian style of simplicity shone through. The two pasta dishes had big portions. The fettuccine with a veal Bolognese claimed to have housemade pasta, but it didn't have the feel of fresh pasta. The penne arrabiata with eggplant and mozzarella was the least spicy arrabiata that I've had. Both dishes had a homey feel. Like most pastas served at home, they were over sauced. I must give them credit because they are very careful to keep the tomato sauce bright and not stew them until it turns reddish-brown. read more

One of my new favorites!! Impeccably timely, polite, and charming service paired with truly delicious food at a very fair price point in an adorable, quaint location. Skip Dan Tana's and come here if you're needing some Italian love before a show at the Troub! Our entire meal, we had 3 different gentlemen checking on us and making sure our drinks were full, table was bussed, and that the food was on point. Oh and was it ever! We started with burrata and prosciutto, one of my favorites. It was a generous full burrata ball with a plate of prosciutto, topped with aged balsamic and sliced basil, served with fresh house made flatbread. For an entree, I had the fettuccine Bolognese, which is made with veal and a deliciously big portion also. My friend Jessica had penne with chicken and broccoli which was great too. There are so many more items I can't wait to try on the menu - my inner fat kid is addicted! We opted to finish with tiramisu, our go to, but the lovely servers also brought us the flourless chocolate cake, which stole the show. Warm, creamy cocoa goodness, not to sweet but oh so rich. I almost forgot about this neighborhood gem! I ate here for years and a friend of mine suggested eating here. We sat outside for an early Sunday dinner and loved it. I had Chianti, Cesar salad and langoustines. They were very good. I wanted the oso bucco but they were out of it :( My friends had the ravioli and liked it as well. They bring out bread and sliced tomatoes to start and I like it here. I plan on coming back in the near future. This place is 10 Star. What customer service, amazing food, and thoughtfulness! My girl and I had a weekend get away at the Beverly Terrace Hotel, and needless to say we worked up an appetite, and the only place open close by was this awesome spot. The manager gladly said he'd have the food walked over and not only did he do that but they brought appetizers, food, and bill all in that order one by one. I've never felt so pampered. Our server Gelver was the man. He simply made the whole ordeal stress free. As far as the food: AMAZING. We ordered Seafood Linguini and Beet Salad. I can't do anything but praise both dishes. If you are looking for italian ambiance, this place is for you! It's small (maybe 25 seats) and there was a birthday celebration by an Italian family when were there (taking half the restaurant)... certainly the cheapest ticket you can find to live an Italian experience! Food and service are great. I had one of the night's special the Osso Buco with safran on a bed of risotto and it was truly delicious. I was disappointed at my experience here. I came here with a co-worker at lunch and I found the waiter very rude. This place is already overpriced and the service was bad. I was hoping the food would make up for it. My friend ordered a margarita pizza and I ordered the beat salad. The food was OK. I could find better salad and better pizza in Beverly Hills for the same price or less. The only thing I liked was the ambiance, it was a nice restaurant and very pretty area. Staying at the hotel and alone on a Tuesday night, I decided to just eat at the restaurant after reading the yelp reviews. I was the first person to enter in the patio section. Shortly after being seated, a family party arrived and a couple. The staff quickly assembled enough seating for the family. The ambivalence was lovely. The complimentary food was nice. Pita bread with hummus and seasoned chopped tomatoes. They were delicious and complimented my meal. I had the beef Carpaccio. The meal caught my eye due to having artichoke with it; however they ran out and offered me arugula. The entree and the complimentary food quickly filled me up. I liked the portion sizes. My waiter was spot on. I ordered a flourless chocolate cake to go. The waiter included a fork for me and two free cookies. The cake was rich. Kinda wish I went with what the waiter suggested ricotta cheese pie. Overall the experience was lovely. I enjoyed my meal. The cookies though- I could taste the baking soda. It left a strong aftertaste. Not overly sweet and was okay. Maybe I can go to a five if I ordered something else that isn't simple to prepare. read more

I swear I must have passed this place a million times on my way home and completely missed it!! Luckily I noticed the lights one day on my way home and made a mental note to stop by. Finally checked it out Wednesday night after a walk with the boyfriend....the place looked closed but the friendly yet quiet and reserved server said we could still order....how nice is that. The bread came out piping hot! yummy!! Always a good sign. With a hummus and tomato dip. We ordered the pasta bolognese which was exceptional, the homemade pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce was delicious! I highly recommend this place if your looking for authentic Italian food! With a half Italian boyfriend that's picky...he loved it also!! For dessert we ordered the torta della nonna which was a perfect end to the meal! Brought my family here for Xmas Eve dinner, but was also my first time. Didn't know what to expect but yelp reviews were great so we went with it.... To start, probably The slowest service I have ever had. Hard to flag down a waiter when you need one and waited about 45min for some fried calamari appetizer. Went for dinner last night with seating at a very nice table outside on the patio. Overall, the food was very good, but we waited 1 hour for our main courses to arrive! When I questioned our waiter about the delay (the restaurant was not busy), he asked me if I wanted an "honest answer"! I assured him that I always appreciate honesty! He then told me that the kitchen staff was very disorganized and that he just gave them a "good talking too"! Here's the thing about this restaurant--the food is incredible. If you like Italian food the way Italians eat it, then this is your place. Fans of the Olive Garden or Bertucci's will not be amused. I had the asparagus and oyster mushroom salad and the fettuccine pasta with eggplant and arrabiata. I highly recommend both of them. And also, yes, this Italian restaurant will serve you hummus and naan with chopped tomatoes at the beginning of the meal. But you know what, the naan is good, the hummus is decent, and the tomatoes are excellent, so bring on the puzzling medley of cultures. I kicked one star because I think a restaurant as authentically Italian as this one should be ashamed of its wine list. Half the wines on the small list are Mondavi, the other half are equally branded Napa wines, and there's one single Italian wine. Italy, a country of such rich wine culture and such incredible regions as Piedmont, has so much more to offer! For that matter, California has more to offer as well. Cute little quiet Italian place. Perfect for a date. If it's not raining, I would try and sit in the patio area. They bring out a delicious warm flat bread with dice tomatoes and white bean hummus to start out. I ordered the Gnocchi and my gf ordered the lobster pasta dish. Food tasted fresh and authentic. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate flourless cake. Perfect warmth and fudge. It came with two tiny choc chip pieces as well. Reasonable prices, great food, good service. Thursday of this week we had a dinner for 18 co-workers at Amici. Chef Gilbert had put together an affordable, awesome menu paired with wonderful wines. We had the best time ever. Grilled Salmon, Gnocchi Bolognese Penne with Chicken in white wine sauce, Scrumptious Salads and an assortment of appetizers and desserts that were soooo delicious. Service was impeccable. I will make this more than an annual event. As an aside: We were surrounded by smaller parties having, what seemed to be warm, intimate dining experiences. read more

I arranged our office holiday luncheon at Cafe Amici last week. As others have mentioned, this is a hidden gem. The new owner/chef Emanuele took over several months ago and he couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. His passion for cooking came through with each conversation. He designed a special menu for our group and made sure we were happy during our stay. Joy was an attentive server and just a lovely person. The space is homey & inviting while remaining upscale. This meal was one of the most delightful dining experiences I've had in years. First and foremost. I thought I had made a 9:00pm reservation on Thanksgiving, but I had apparently made it for 8:00pm. At 8:05pm I realized my error and they happily changed the reservation. When we arrived the place was ridiculously charming. Cute outdoor seating, nice lighting and adorable furniture. However, none of it held a candle to the impeccable service provided by Sunny. Sunny greeted us promptly, was full of suggestions, information and pleasantries. I wish every server could be trained by him. Like... every server ever. Anyway, I ordered the butternut squash soup to begin (a Thanksgiving special) and the Kale and Quinoa Salad for my entree. My SO ordered a caesar salad to begin and their turkey lasagna (another festive fare). I enjoyed their Orogeny Pinot Noir, where L drank a Scotch. We munched on their table fare of fresh flatbread, white bean spread and tomato mixture while we waited. The soup was amazing. Warming and simply spiced. The salad seemed to be a hit as well. The entrees were divine! My salad has squash, mushrooms and was dressed in the perfect amount of a truffle dressing. The meal was a perfect Thanksgiving meal, but the real treat was Sunny. I couldn't send enough appreciation to Cafe Amici for this experience. #SunnyIsMVP read more

Have eaten here w/GF several times. Glad we came back. Small neat trattoria, very spartan in look-quiet-no normal trendy Beverly Hills yap to be noticed going on. We wanted to sit quietly, just before Christmas, enjoy. Service was 5 star, not over-bearing, server Luis was excellent. Canellini bean hummus, fresh tomato/basil, flat(warm) bread great. Wine, mostly Mondavi a little pricey-what the heck Burrata w/4 tomato slices, a little more pricey ???? I had lobster/crab Aragosta pasta, was exceptional.
