Il Pastaio is hands down one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Beverly Hills. The food is absolutely exceptional everything tastes fresh, authentic, and full of flavor. It honestly feels like you're dining somewhere in Italy without leaving LA.

Our first time eating at Il Pastaio, though we've eaten at any number of other restaurants in the Drago universe and always have a good meal. Like all the other D-family outposts, Il Pastaio is busy and buzzy, well organized by a friendly staff, and utterly professional in all respects. The carefully manicured decor is low-key elegant on the inside, but the bulk of the seating here is outside, with tables lining both sides of the corner property, creating the feel of a cafe in Paris or Rome. Our own waiter was friendly as could be, though occasionally a bit more MIA than I would have liked. Little extra requests like butter for the bread or a 2nd soft drink were left unanswered for a bit. Yes, it was a busy Sunday dinner rush, so I'm not really complaining, but it was a tad frustrating. We opted out of starters because we'd seen a dessert we wanted to order, so we went straight for entrees: Garganelli with Broccoli and Sausage for me, and the Tortelloni Di Zucca for my wife. My garganelli was perfectly cooked, with a nice, very slight al dente bite; the sausage had a nice hit of heat, though the broccoli was overdone and a bit mushy. The sauce of garlic and oil was not as flavor-forward as I've had in the past with other iterations of this dish. So, while I didn't dislike my meal, it was definitely underwhelming. My wife's Tortelloni was, to my mind, more successful. Again, the pasta was fresh and nicely cooked, but here the filling was more interestingly flavored, with the pumpkin and ricotta blend being more savory than sweet (a nice change), and the sauce of butter & sage adding an extra level of savory richness. The aforementioned dessert -- the daily special of Orange Ricotta Cheesecake -- was light and very subtly flavored, without being too sweet. It was enjoyable, but could have used, again, a more robust flavor profile, be it the citrus or the cheese... it was just, in the end, a bit too mild. Overall, we were surprised, as the menu is similar to other Drago locations, but we're used to being served meals that are much more memorably flavored. That said, while the food was essentially fine, I wouldn't race back for another meal at this particular venue.

There are restaurants in all the big cities in which I have lived that represent longevity, image-power, popularity, and tradition. And, there is usually a good reason for their stardom. While I am a big fan of evolved dishes that are novel and fresh, I have always loved old fashioned, genuine (as in the way they are made in the Old Country) Italian food. Il Pastaio does not disappoint in that respect. I have spent enough time all over Italy, and am part Italian myself, to judge this place a must-try in Los Angeles. We rarely venture into Beverly Hills given what used to be a difficult parking situation. Not with Il Pastaio -- there is free public garage parking almost across the street. If you visit on a Sunday afternoon, you will find a spot effortlessly and you will avoid the crowds. That said, when we arrived around 1:30, Il Pastaio was packed, inside and out. Thankfully we had a reservation and they ushered us to the perfect table, inside (where I preferred to be on a sunny, cool but windy day), next to a bright (and spotless) window. I think there are people who prefer to be on the sidewalk in BH, so they can look for the cognoscenti and affluenti, LOL, but, I don't need to do that -- seen and been seen enough in my long life! Our table was perfect. View my photos. I love the vibe inside. Again, I can happily report, Il Pastaio reminds me of all the fine, small, and exquisite restaurants I frequented in Rome, Florence, and Milan, to name the biggies. The menu is extensive, and even though I had studied it beforehand on their website, it took me at least ten minutes to narrow down all the wonderful vegetarian dishes from which to choose. My photos show which were the lucky winners. There are meat dishes in abundance but, here's the open secret, Italians themselves are not avid meat eaters and all the portions abroad are small, hence multiple courses and few people eat too much at a meal. Lunch and dinner are also leisurely over there because Europeans see a meal as an event, not a blip in their day. The service was flawless, with our Italian waiter, Filippo, treating us as if we were Re Umberto and Regina Margherita. The table was very pretty and there was bespoke olive oil and vinegar ready for dipping the homemade bread that is served steaming in a napkined basket. I could smell it through the entire meal. Even the water came from Italy. Each course we chose came to the table at the perfect temperature, beautifully plated, and the previous were whisked away efficiently as soon as we were finished, as if by magic. All in all, this is a superb Italian restaurant. Fresh and new but traditional and comforting in its familiarity. I know we will return. Molto ben fatto, Signore Drago!

The food here is excellent; quality Italian food with good portions and great flavor. The ambiance is nice even the outdoors is pretty and they have heat lamps to take out the chill. My reason for the three stars was the service. We did choose a later reservation time but I wish they just didn't have the reservation if they don't want to be there late. It took 25 minutes after us sitting for a server to ask what we wanted to drink. It was not busy maybe three other tables outdoor only the inside was closed. When our waiter was at the table he was annoyed at our questions regarding the tasting menu. It really made us feel awkward and dampered our whole experience which was really unfortunate because we loved the food and it was our last night in LA. I'd say make an earlier reservation maybe to receive better service. Also the espresso martini was disappointing it had ice and was very watered down. I'll end on a positive note that the Branzino was amazing. Everything on the dish tasted fresh. The burrata was also a hit for the whole table

I enjoyed it! Sat on the patio and had a Caesar salad, a half lobster/half crab pasta and the "Justin Bieber" dish with chicken. Service was great and so was the food! I did think the JB dish was a little salty for my taste but was good overall.

Gnocchi was over done. No texture, just mush. Also the truffle wasn't very flavorful.

Amazing first experience this past Sunday! 11/10 on the service and quality of food. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Our cocktails were also super yum - highly recommend a gin gimlet. My raviolis were to die for along with the appetizers we had. We had a party of 10 and they made it so special for my friend's birthday! Thank you to the great staff, ambiance and chefs!

So right off the bat, we got a nice outdoor seat, and the place was pretty cute, but not as high class as I was expecting it to be but idk. The waiter was really nice and we got our drinks out to us Really fast. The charcuterie board was absolutely amazing. It looks as good as it tastes like wowwwww it was amazing absolutely amazing. However our actual pastas did take a long time to come out honestly and they were good I won't say it was bad. The Justin Bieber pasta was really good, but I felt like the sauce was kind of missing something maybe like a spice or something like that and the thickness of the dough kind of overpowered the actual taste. I got the Bolognese and it was pretty good. Just a standard Bolognese, but I think the pasta was really fresh tasting, and the waiter did not skim out on the parm haha overall nice I would come back for a lunch!!

I feel like I have seen this place so hyped up and it's apparently like Justin Bieber fav restaurant or something. The Caesar salad was incredibly average and the pasta was good but nothing special. The service was pretty so slow and did not live up to expectations.

Came here for a friends birthday. In terms of ambience, it's very charming and fancy. A great place for pictures on a dinner night. The service... wasn't really there. It took an hour for our waiter to take our order and even then trying to get someone's attention took a lot of effort. After we ordered it took a long time to get our food. We were sat right in the middle of the inside restaurant so it's not like we were in a hidden area. We were there till closing because of how long we had to wait. It's really disappointing because I was looking forward to this place. However the food is tasty. I wouldn't say amazing, but it's well prepared pasta. A bunch of us got the "Justin Bieber Pasta" basically the one he orders when he comes here so they named it after him. It's okay, more on the salty and bitter side. I don't think we would order it again. Their truffle pasta is great though. It was done very well, and the pasta itself felt like such high quality. The pricing is on the higher side for the truffle pastas, but it is rich in terms truffle. I'd say it's worth a try.

A hot spot in Beverly Hills for Italian food. Grab a seat outside and enjoy some people watching while you enjoy fresh pasta. Delish drinks , nice service and yummy pasta. Thank you for being great with Hubs allergies. Glad I stopped in for dinner on my two day trip.

My biggest compliment is to the staff. They were amazing, nice, and so attentive. Pasta was very good and they had such a wide selection. Bread was also yummy.

This private room has a beautiful ambiance with amazing details. Gives an outdoor Italian countryside vibe..

Brunch was $25 each person and included a starter, an entree and a dessert. They also have $10 mimosas with lots of juices to choose from. The staff was so friendly and attentive. They started us off with chips and salsa which was so good! Then we had our first round of mimosas, I got cranberry for my first two rounds and then switched over to an espresso martini with whiskey (and if you haven't tried it YOU MUST!) Not just here but everywhere! For my starter I got the berries and cream which I usually don't do but it was so good I'm glad I went outside of my box. The Chantilly cream and fresh strawberries and blueberries were amazing. For my entree, I ordered the French Toast, I did not realize it was stuffed with some sort of apricot or fruit jam and was not the biggest fan of this. For dessert I went with the churros and was left feeling a bit let down. The churros needed salt to bring out the sweetness, they tasted a bit bland and the sauce that came with did not add to the flavors. Overall because it's such a cute place, the drinks are good and priced decently as well as having a large enough menu where the next visit I feel I could choose something different I would 10/10 go back. So stay tuned for the follow up review!

The Midas Touch was a colorful spicy margarita with El Tesoro Maybourne Edition Reposado, Empirical Ayuuk, Grand Marnier Louis Alexandre, saffron, lemon, and honey. Big in Japan was a Gold Rush variation with Hibiki Harmony, sudachi honey, lemon, sansho pepper, and yuzu bitters. The secret entrance is a ton of fun and the ambience is dark and mysterious and transports you to a land far away, all while not leaving LA. The drinks are spectacularly delicious and innovative. There is a theme (and entire experience) to each drink. The food is likewise excellent. The hot dogs from Tail o'the Pup are some of the best in the city and you can order directly from the downstairs hot spot, or order from the tailored menu to fit the tiki theme. The wait staff was super attentive. This is a great date spot or somewhere to come with friends. Just remember to book your reservations on Resy and then check the website for knowledge on how to get into the secret entrance. This is a top experience in LA!

TIKI DAVE had the opportunity to FINALLY hit The Lucky Tiki last night and boy was he impressed!…read more TIKI DAVE and WIFE OF TIKI DAVE pre-gamed a very good friend's 50th birthday at The Lucky Tiki from 5:30 - 7:00pm last night. Reservations are a must. Who doesn't love a Speakeasy and the Pickle Barrel entrance at the Tail 'o the Pup with the buzzer in the barrel was a cute touch. Once you're allowed entry, you are immediately transported to another world via beautifully decorated stairs to the check-in desk. The decor has got to be one of the best looking tiki bars out there. Wow, they hit this out of the park. The drink and food menu is fantastic in a wood covered binder. Naturally, we ordered the standard Mai Tai to start. The Lucky Tiki's take on the traditional 1944 Trader Vic Mai Tai is fantastic. Each Mai Tai comes with the Lucky Tiki swizzle stick and I happily kept the 3 we ordered to display in our home Tiki Bar. The wife ordered a second one while I took the waitress' recommendation and ordered The Maverick ("A Renegade of Rums, Cinnamon Syrup, White Grapefruit & Lime Juice, A Bold, Fiery, and Unapologetically Wild Ride, This Cocktail is for Those Who Live By Their Own Rules")...and coincidentally, this applies to me perfectly. The Maverick was awesome and came complete with a show of fire. We also ordered the Potstickers which were fantastic, especially dipped in their garlic teriyaki sauce. Wow! I wished we lived closer because I would hit this place A LOT. TIKI DAVE highly highly highly recommends THE LUCKY TIKI! I will be uploading video to my YouTube channel soon! dineLA experience 2 of 3…read more So far, the best bang for your buck. They really give you all the foods. The dineLA menu is good for 2 people. Those 2 people both get the following: bone broth- wow. Loved it Steak Tartare - so much, we couldn't finish braised beef cheek - practically melted like butter 3 oz filet with salad - by the time this came we thought they were playing. It felt like a proper entree, but there was more meat coming. We then shared an 11 oz ribeye w/ grilled broccolini and ended with the chocolate cake. In conclusion, we got so much food. We ended up with a bit of leftovers which worked out perfectly for me the following day. Their garlic bread was also so good. Great service and delicious food. It's been some time since I've eaten that much red meat.

We came to Matū for the Dinner for Two, and everything we were served was impeccable. The seasoning was spot on, the salt level was perfect, and every cut of meat was cooked beautifully. I'm a big fan of my steak on the rarer side, and Matū absolutely delivered. The braised beef cheek was probably the highlight of the night for me. It was unbelievably tender, rich, and one of the most memorable bites of the meal. After finishing the Dinner for Two, which really showcased the quality of the meat, we decided to split a cheesesteak since "that's what they're known for." When it arrived, it looked incredible. Unfortunately, that's where the excitement ended for me. The meat tasted oddly oily. I'm not sure if it was the cut, the preparation, or even the cheese, but it came across as heavy and greasy compared to the beautifully simple, clean flavors of the steak dinner. It was also underseasoned, and I found myself tasting the sesame seeds on the bread more than the filling itself. The chips were fresh and crunchy at first, but they lost their texture surprisingly quickly, so eat those immediately. Overall, I absolutely loved the steaks, sides, and cocktails, and I'll happily be back for those. But as for the cheesesteak? Once was more than enough.

The restrooms are clean and cute Parking is slim to none! What do you expect? It's on the Sunset Strip. I can't speak to the food as we stopped in for a quick beverage before heading down the road for our dinner... But what they were serving to other patrons looked and smelled delicious. It's small. Grab a seat at the bar (which is really about it...) and start your journey to the craft cocktails with one of their friendly staff and bartenders. Be there or be square

What's left is a joyless little room with indifferent management and service that can feel actively hostile. It can get very crowded, but... The energy is just off. It no longer feels warm or welcoming, and the type of crowd it attracts now can make the cramped space feel actually menacing. The staff also becomes strangely abrasive and aloof. Especially the younger male bartender who works on Fridays. I would never go again. Even trying to order another drink somehow feels like you're inconveniencing them. It's genuinely sad how they've managed to ruin what used to be a good thing. There is absolutely no reason to put up with this place when you could go to Cecconi's, the Tower Bar, Bar 1200 at the Sunset Marquis, Jones Hollywood, Laurel Hardware, Ysabel, the Roger Room, On the Rox, or Mic's instead. The name a few! Any one of them will give you a better room, a better atmosphere, and a much better evening. TBH, I would rather endure the mechanical-bull chaos of Saddle Ranch than spend another night dealing with the bizarre vibe here. That alone should tell you everything. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
