Best Italian food I've ever had! Stumbled onto the restaurant when staying at Hotel Beverly Terrace. Lovely quaint atmosphere. Ordered the Pizza Salamino and Linguine with smoked chicken and sundried tomatoes. The portions were generous and the ingredients were fresh, high quality. We planned to just pick up the food and take to our room but decided to eat there due to the nice atmosphere. Complimentary flat bread with bruschetta and white bean hummus for stater. The ambience (modern, warm, understated, elegant with character - great artwork!), the service (impeccable), and the food (absolutely delicious) will keep me coming back. Each one of our requests was not only accommodated but welcomed. You must try the ricotta cheesecake. The dover sole, pasta, burrata, mushroom soup all excellent. I only knew about this eatery because of Yelp, not because it was only steps from my hotel room. To tell you the truth, I initially overlooked the door from the patio leading to their dining room and went around to the main entrance. Within the hedges separating us from the bustle of Santa Monica Blvd was a cozy, private patio. My tomato soup was delicious as was my friend's beet salad, however my entree was nothing out of the ordinary. I thought the chicken sausage in my lasagna was way too salty and the ricotta was overly pasty and rich. Every other element of the dinner was perfectly executed, but the main course is what detracts from my overall rating. I had my wedding at Cafe Amici and Hotel Beverly Terrace in October and I cannot recommend both of these places enough! Everything was absolutely perfect! From the very start of the planning process, we knew we were in good hands. Both the manager of the restaurant (Emanuele) and the special events coordinator (Milena) were so kind and easy to work with. Their many years of experience in events showed and we were so grateful to have them guide us along the way. They truly went above and beyond to make our day perfect. Separately, all of the food was absolutely delicious! Emanuele put together such a beautiful spread and our guests were raving about the food and presentation. The entire staff from management to bartenders and wait staff clearly value service and it was so nice to be with all of their friendly faces on our special day. Lastly, the restaurant and hotel courtyard are so beautifully designed, we hardly needed any decorations. There are plants in every corner and it feels very comfortable and homey. I HIGHLY recommend Cafe Amici whether you are planning a big event, or just want a delicious place for dinner. The food is good, the staff is friendly, what more could you want?! read more

The restaurant is hard to find the first time you go. The bathroom situation is also a bit weird (part of the hotel and you can easily get lost after your 2nd or 3rd glass). I've only been here twice but the decor throws me off and the way its integrated into the hotel is just weird. The staff is friendly and helpful but I always prefer an all Italian cast. Not overly enthused about their wine selection or wine by the glasses but sufficient. The meal here was enjoyable but not on par with the other fine Italian establishments around LA. It's a nice change of pace and a bit more moderately priced than others. The pasta was good but nothing memorable. read more

My boyfriend and I came here randomly--the hotel connected to it, The Beverly Terrace, gave us $20 off to eat there, so we figured why not. We could not have asked for a better experience. Reasonably priced pasta, gnocchi, and delicious (though a bit more expensive) wine. Came with a FREE bruschetta-esque appetizer, so don't order bruschetta. They will bring you and endless basket of toasted pita and bowls of chopped tomatoes/bruschetta and hummus. At the end of the meal. they bring you a FREE plate of warm chocolate-chip cookies. Didn't adore the cookies, but I was so overwhelmed by their generosity that it didn't matter what the cookies tasted like! read more

I have eaten at many Italian restaurants and I can say without a doubt that this is the best Italian food I have ever had. The service can be a little slow at times but don't let that keep you from coming here. The food is well worth it. I've been coming to this little gem for over a year and have never been disappointed and always pleased by the freshness, taste and attention to detail that sends my taste buds to Italian heaven. There is a beautiful balance between traditional dishes and the modern way they are prepared and presented that make you keep wanting to come back for more and try everything on the menu. My favorite so far is the chicken piccata, my wife adores the lobster pasta. I could honestly just live on their fresh baked bread and garnish alone. Highly recommended :) read more

New and very rude management; new kitchen staff not up to prior quality. We will never return to what used to be a go-to restaurant. 6 of us went for dinner in the courtyard. When I saw that the table we were being offered was a high table, I requested the lower table just beyond the one we were offered (--we were with my 89 year old mother and I was afraid she would fall off the barstool). We were told that the lower table was reserved for a longstanding guest and the high table was the only table they had left. The manager's attitude was so offensive--basically "take it or leave it," before she stormed off. We got situated and placed our drink order. 30 minutes until beverages arrived. I asked the waiter if there were any specials and he listed several, and then said they were sold out of all of them (....so why mention them?!). We placed our dinner order and waited another 30 minutes until they brought out all but one of the starters; the last starter didn't arrive until the rest of us had our entrees. I started with minestrone soup, which was a relatively tasteless clear broth with vegetables in it. My son-in-law ordered the arugula and pear salad which consisted of 3 thin slices of pear and 4 arugula leaves (it appeared that their specials weren't the only thing they had run out of). As we were eating our starters, two servers showed up with 2 entrees and told us to move our starters out of the way so they could put the entrees down; we were shocked at the lack of professionalism (--note that my daughter's starter still had not shown up by that point). Another 15 minutes passed before they brought the rest of the entrees, which arrived at the same time as my daughter's starter. The food was mediocre at best, and when I commented that the seafood pasta was not as it was before, I was told they have a new chef. The icing on the cake was that the party for whom the lower table was reserved never showed up. No apology was ever issued by the very rude manager. There are so many other great Italian restaurants in the area, and no reason to ever return to Cafe Amici. I have been very supportive of restaurants throughout the pandemic, and I understand there are new challenges, so I've been really patient with restaurants as they reopen. But for $600+ for 6 for dinner (including a 20% service charge--the amount I normally tip--which was not pointed out to us!), to endure such a terrible dining experience is not something I could recommend or that I will repeat. read more

What looked like a cute, cozy place from the outside, turned out to be quite a mess :( As much as I was excited to experiment at this place, my expectations were lowered with every little thing. The outside terrace and the bread basket, I had little complaints for. However, once it was time for the main dishes, our server double if not triple checked our order beforehand, yet somehow still managed to bring the wrong thing. But things happen, I don't blame them for this mess up as much as I was just disappointed in the quality of the food and it's presentation. Their so-called salamino pizza is just a regular pepperoni pizza (tastes like any frozen pepperoni pizza). Unfortunately, neither my friend or I will be back here 100%. Our first (but definitely not our last) visit to Cafe Amici. Right away, the cozy atmosphere and ambiance put us in a great mood. We were greeted by the manager Jonathan who was as welcoming as can be. He gave us the best table in the place and things just got better from there. The service is OUTSTANDING. The entire waitstaff takes care of you and you are never left waiting or wanting for anything. Yet, they don't hover and we were left to dine at our leisure. The food is as good as the service- the portions are large and plentiful. My wife had the Carciofi E Cuori Di Palma Al Parmigiano and I had the Rustica salad. Both were large enough to be a main course and both were AMAZING. For our main courses, I had the Pollo Al Limone E Capperi and my wife had the Salmone E Spinaci. Again, just delicious. And for dessert, we shared a flourless chocolate cake. All I can say about that is, it's the best chocolate dessert I've ever had. This place is a gem. It's right in the heart of BH and WH but it feels like it's tucked away in some little Rome alcove. The waitstaff and the manager could not have been any more welcoming and friendly. Walked into an extremely unwelcoming atmosphere, all the employees stared blankly and walked by while I tried to ask for a table. Nobody was there to seat the guests, and after 5 minutes of awkward waiting someone came by. Waiter was rude and in a hurry, and made the entire party uncomfortable even when the place was mostly empty. Food took over an hour, and was mediocre when it came out. The waiter also took down two of the orders wrong, but we waited too long to care. Two members of the party ended up not eating because of the mistake. Very cute, romantic little restaurant. Great service, good food, not great, but good. The burrata salad was ok, not very flavorful. The lobster salad with green apples was also ok, the lobster was a little overdone. The mixed grill (whitefish, salmon, Hawaiian prawn) was good, although the Hawaiian prawn was a little overdone. My favorite dish at Amici was their canellini bean dip, (served with the bread before our meal). The dip was very savory and delicious! The atmosphere at Trattoria Amici is perfect for a date. I was here for an event so the food and booze was free flowing. Italian food was good. The outdoor environment was better. I would not recommend this place for children. The restaurant, though hard to find, is like a little oasis in the busy city. It's a nice after-work hangout, only if you sit outside. Old world charm in LA adds real value. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the hotel attached to this restaurant. We came down through the hotel courtyard in the early evening. There's an open window with bar seats and a sign above that reads "Il Bar," which is apparently the best place to sit if you want to be totally ignored by the restaurant staff. It seemed like the staff were making a conscious effort to not make eye contact with us. We weren't even offered water. We decided to skip ordering a full meal and just got drinks and an appetizer, both were pretty good. No one acknowledged us when we were finished, so we had to walk inside the restaurant to pay. The restaurant wasn't very busy, only a few tables inside and out were taken. If having people sit at the window bar is too much of an inconvenience for the staff, then just close that window. read more
