I though this place was good, but nothing too special. There was a long wait for breakfast on Sunday, which is expected but it did seem like a lot of tables sat empty for quite some time. I had bacon, sausage and eggs over medium. The eggs were cooked nicely, the sausage patties were tasty and piping hot. The bacon was slightly over cooked and not very warm. It was a simple breakfast plate, nothing over the top. I heard the chile verde omelete was good, loaded with pork. However the side of fruit that came with it was not very fresh. For breakfast, I opted for rib eye steak & eggs. Served on a large plate, the medium rare steak was cooked to my liking & evenly seasoned. It was clearly the highlight of the dish. Along with my steak & eggs, hash browns was served on the side. It was quite oily & had a weird after taste. Another go to dish is chicken and waffles. Everything on that plate was huge!!! Perhaps the most happening breakfast joint in Oxnard. Pros: Awesome Cinnamon Roll! And they have a variety of flavors: walnut, chocolate chip, etc. Very good potatoes. They are sliced and cooked to perfection. Simple and delicious. Know how to cook an egg! I always order over medium and invariably get uncooked whites. They cooked the whites through but left the runny yoke! YUMMY! They have sugar container instead of packets!!! Love that! Great ambiance! Pretty and comfortable! Cons: Not a big fan of the coffee. A little bitter. Don't serve real cream. It's those mini moo's that don't need refrigeration. My mom ordered the ham scramble but asked to add american cheese cooked inside with it and they brought it out with two slabs of cheese on top. OK...no big deal, just take it back and make it how we asked. NOPE! They took it to the back and just chopped it all up together. Not cool guys! Not cool. They did remake it upon request but it should have been handled differently. Hot inside! Air doesn't seem to work well and they leave the front doors open letting in the heat! Got the Chicken and Waffles with a side of Grits and it was quite good. The chicken had a delicious skin and it was seasoned and cooked really well. The grits were good as well. The prices are decent too and the hot sauce was a perfect compliment to the maple syrup when eating the chicken and waffles together. I took a star off for the lack of quality in the waffle itself . It was not a very good waffle. However, I'd still order the dish again if I ever had a reason to be in Oxnard again. My other issue was with the lack of meat on the chicken, it was all far too bony. That all being said, it's a good place to eat breakfast and if you live in Oxnard or are stuck there for some reason, you should definitely give this place a try. Southern Style Fried Chicken & Waffle - HUGE and decent waffle. The chicken had a good crisp to it, but the flavor profile wasn't anything but a little salt and pepper. If I am going to pay $10 for a chicken & waffle dish, I would expect more flavors to pop. If you want to order this in hopes it will be like ROSCOE's, DO NOT ORDER IT. We came here on Father's day based on a friend's recommendation. Obviously I can trust her because this was delicious and we will definitely be back! There was quite a wait for inside seating, but outside was quickly available. My coffee and water were always full, and someone was always available to make sure we didn't need anything. What's nice about this place is that you can get some really good brunch food and wait for only a short amount of time to be seated(4 of us only had to wait about 20 minutes). I had the huevos rancheros and I was very satisfied. What I will ding this place down for was the quality of service. While our waitress was extremely nice to us, the wait for our food was way too long. By the time our food came out, two tables that had been seated after us already got their food and one table had finished eating and paid. Our server Andrea was great and was attentive. We had fried chicken n waffle which was crispy and hot!! We also had corned beef hash n poached eggs. The hash came out of a can and wasn't homemade, kinda disappointing and one reason I only gave the place three stars. I've come here a few times and loved the food. The service has always left a bit to be desired but tolerable. Tried to bring some friends here today and ended up having to leave because they refused to let us wait inside for our table even though it's pouring rain out and they have no patio coverings. When we told them to just take our name off the list, the hostess looks to a near by table and says "everyone else understands, why don't they?" If you're so backed up you can't seat people, you need somewhere for them to wait. If you had a seating area and that was full it would be one thing but that was not the issue. And this is not a tiny place, they have the room. Big bummer. read more

We ordered omelette, I asked the waitress to make it well done, I experienced often in other restaurants that the omelette with vegetable are always liquid and I can't eat that. Omelette came back with liquid egg, she apologized right away and got me a well done. Really professional and friendly waitress, she seemed very sincere and definitely a people's person ( people you definitely want to have in a restaurant ) the food was good, definitely less processed than in other breakfast restaurants! It's the perfect family-owned breakfast spot and doesn't hurt that it's located in the Oxnard Factory Outlets (pretty much all that's left in this abandoned plaza) about a 2 minute drive from home. All of the omelettes are solid (the California omelette is my personal favorite), but if you want something special order the chicken and waffles or their giant cinnamon rolls. Also, they happen to have my hot sauce of choice, Pepper Plant, sitting on every table. The service is always excellent and it's one of the rare restaurants where I'm confident in exploring the menu because I know they never disappoint.
